Retro Wave Race is a game in the genre of arcade racing.

I didn't like this task from the very beginning.
I didn't really want to fly to a distant colony, with which communication was lost several months ago.
Flying up to the colony, the feeling of anxiety and fear only intensified. Downstairs the lanterns burned faintly and no movement was visible. The colony was dead. Only scary sounds indicated that you were not alone. Kill zombies and crazy robots.

Space Colony
In Brief
Space Colony is a first/third person arena shooter using the Unity engine. The aim of the game is to survive as long as you can. You can see a video of game play HERE.
The Game
Space Colony is from the same developer who gave us (via Falcoware) Danger Desert, Dangerous Robots, Witches 2 and probably Awful Ruines 2. All of which follow the same format and game mechanic. Basically you are thrown directly into a world (more like a small arena filled with scattered buildings), where you are under constant attack by zombies and robots that spawn frequently. You have a variety of weapons at hand from the start, but all with limited ammunition. These include a pistol, sniper rifle, shotgun, plus other assault weapons, a knife, sword, bow and a torch; all of which are accessible using either the mouse wheel or the numbers keys . You can access all the games key bindings via F1, but they are not editable.
Ammo and health packs can be picked up when found by placing your cursor over the item to be picked up. When a hand appears press the F button. Your magazine and amount of ammo you have left is indicated in the bottom left of your screen. Press F1 to see all the key bindings available. These include the usual movement keys (though you can also use the arrow keys to move) as well as leaning left or right (Q & E), Space to jump, T for bullet time (where you go slo-mo), V for melee attack, though if your weapon runs out of ammo you automatically use the melee attack until you've switched weapons. Clicking the middle mouse button (instead of scrolling) takes you to a iron sight/ scope or third person viewpoint depending on the weapon you are using. There only appears to be one arena like level. You can boost your health over 100 by picking up all the health packs you come across.
Conclusion
I'd say exactly the same as I said for the four games mentioned above, i.e. ''If I kept this game I very much doubt I'd ever boot it up again, so it'll be consigned to the recycle bin soon. :). That said; if you don't own many first person shooters, try it out; you may enjoy it in short stints''. Perfect for those short coffee/tea breaks or if you just need a short break from other games you are playing. It's definitely not a game I could have played for long as there is little to endear it to me. ;).

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway
Don't forget to check the giveaway game discussion forums HERE; especially Delenn's threads for non Steam and Steam freebies. The latest Epic game freebie is (which ends tomorrow afternoon 1st Oct 4pm UK time)Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: The Complete Edition. It's actually a re-hash of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Platinum Edition released over a decade ago, which was removed from sale two years ago when a dispute between Atari and the developer went legal. The latest iteration has support for 1929 x 1080 displays and wide screen, otherwise it's the same game. From tomorrow afternoon we get a dystopian adventure game called Pikuniku.
There's a couple of new additions to the Indie Gala freebies called Desert Law and The Tomorrow War (a 3D space shooter with ground strafing on planets. The game reminds me of a souped-up version of the first space shooter I ever bough back in the early 90's called Epic, but with far superior graphics. Also just added is an adult only Hentai Mosaique Neko Waifus game and Potatoman Seeks the Troof
has been added again.
Steam have two games that have been added to the free section i.e. Death Rally (Classic) HERE and thanks to JEDIGEG for posting Scrap Garden HERE
Please stay safe everyone.

TAYLOR,

Hi Taylor, yes it isn't very good and is basically a rehashes of the previous four titles that I mentioned in the short review above; the only difference being the assets that can be bought as small packages for the Unity engine, plus of course the backgrounds. That said, If you're looking for a few minutes of free FPS fun, then this may suffice, especially if you aren't a FPS aficionado; however, as mentioned above, literally fun for just a few minutes, then tedium. ;)

I would never buy a title like this, and have already deleted it from my hard drive. I have FPS games released 20 years ago that are far superior to this (see note below). There is no challenge to Space Colony and the game quickly becomes tedious as there, is little difference between the zombies and robots attacking you. They all move the same way, and as far as I could ascertain, there's only one very small level, that's more an arena than a level. What annoys me most is that the Unity engine is actually a great amateur game making engine and if used properly, can help to create a decent game, but this and the other titles I mentioned smack of laziness and are basically a cobbled together game, just bolting together the assets available without any thought to game play or story. I bet it was created in an evenings session; would love to hear from the developer to put me right on this as I am very easy going when reviewing games and always try to look at the positives)

Space Colony costs $5 over on Itch.io, yet you can pick up the amazing ARMA: Cold War Assault (originally called Operation Flashpoint, released in 2001) HERE that features the ability to command a squad of soldiers, use of over 40 authentic vehicles and aircraft with a battle zone covering a staggering 100 square kilometers and local multiplayer (used to be able to play fully online, but the servers have been shut for years) for less than today's giveaway i.e. $4.99 (okay today's game is free today); and, when on sale I've seen it with 75% off. Despite its age, it still looks and plays better than today's game.
