Night Darkness
In Brief
A Cartoon like first person shooter made with the Unity engine

The Game
Night Darkness is a first person shooter with cartoon like graphics. The controls are standard FPS; you can see the various controls for both keyboard and controller below in one of the images I've posted. The game starts out okay, with you flying over a forest. The helicopter crashes in a small town that is full of drones. Your job is to survive and destroy all of the drones. You have a machine gun initially that has unlimited ammo, but you have to be careful not to keep firing otherwise your weapon will overheat and stop working until it cools down. There are health and overheat indicators in the bottom left and right sides of the screen respectively.
I found you could walk through walls to enter any building or vehicle. Trouble is; of the several times I booted up the game, I invariably fell through the world into an area that I couldn't escape from; (basically the forest area, that you don't actually enter unless you fall through the main game area). You can wander around this forested area, but there's nothing but trees to see. I failed to find a spot that would allow me to climb back into the game world, so had to restart. Which was another issue. I had to bring up the task manager then close the game down via the task bar (using a multi monitor set up. If you only have one monitor, I'm not sure if the game will drop to the task bar?
There are apparently more weapons, but I've not been able top progress past the first level of the game due to the bugs I encountered. These bugs appear to be at the periphery of the game area, so if you want to progress I would suggest keeping away from anywhere near the forest area's that surround the town you crashed into. see the last two images.
Conclusion

If the bugs were fixed this could be a reasonable cheap but cheerful FPS game (despite the title).

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway
Don't forget to check the giveaway game discussion forums HERE; especially Delenn's threads for non Steam and Steam freebies. The latest Epic game freebie is Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: The Complete Edition. It's actually a re-hash of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Platinum Edition released over a decade ago, which was removed from sale two years ago when a dispute between Atari and the developer went legal. The latest iteration has support for 1929 x 1080 displays and wide screen, otherwise it's the same game.
There's a couple of new additions to the Indie Gala freebies called Desert Law and The Tomorrow War (a 3D space shooter with ground strafing on planets. The game reminds me of a souped-up version of the first space shooter I ever bough back in the early 90's called Epic, but with far superior graphics. Also just added is an adult only Hentai Mosaique Neko Waifus game and Potatoman Seeks the Troof
has been added again.
Steam have two games that have been added to the free section i.e. Death Rally (Classic) HERE and thanks to JEDIGEG for posting Scrap Garden HERE
Please stay safe everyone.

Whiterabbit-uk, thanks for your posts.
About being unable to exit from the forest.

Steps to get the task manager with a single monitor and Windows 10:
Press the Windows Key on the keyboard. The start menu and the task bar pop up in front of the game.
Key in "Task Manager" (no input box, just key it in) and wait for the search popup that lets you click and start it.

I have found that in most of the games given away on GOTD and elsewhere, pressing the Windows Key usually minimizes the game window and takes me back to the desktop. Good first step to try for any game you cannot seem to exit.

Before I tried the task manager steps above, I went looking for and found a hole in the forest. I was able to get back to the city, but I was below ground level.

Something interesting I found when I got back to the city.
I started collecting the enemy drones and had five grouped up. None of them were shooting at me since I was below ground level.
When I shot at one, it would move to a position directly above me. I was able to find another drone and by shooting it and leading it toward the first one, I was able to cause them to group up. Shooting them didn't seem to have any effect except causing them to move to my position.
Not really useful, but interesting.

Update. I also tried pressing Alt+F4 and it killed the game immediately. I almost forgot about that key combo.
