I wanted to take the time to comment, as I have some constructive criticism for the developers.
I did find the game addicting, in that I returned to play it quite a few times. For some reason, even though I found it repetative to the point of boredom, I wanted to finish all the levels w/a gold cup. I'm sure I wouldn't ever be interested in playing it again, once completed.
So, here's what I think is really important. The 3rd area, w/flashing disco lights is a health hazard. Not only that, it is annoying in the extreme. It's ugly. It's stupid. And I'm deleting the game from my computer. Seriously, that was the best you could do?!
Suggestions for improvement. Obviously, CHANGE the 3rd scenery. More variety is needed...once you upgrade the few things available...there isn't really anything to do. I was fully upgraded before I reached the 2nd scene... Upgrades are a small change, not very exciting, but once they are gone...there's nothing.
Might be nice to add what the awards are w/hover, so you'd have a goal in mind.
Hope that helps; thanks for sharing!

I really love that game. I could play the first location without any problems. But, unfortunately, I'm facing problems in the second location. If a customer orders both pastry and cocktail with three additions each, the game ALWAYS crashes, when I deliver the second product to him. The first time I noticed this was in level 7 of the second location. Does someone else have the same problem? My computer runs under Windows XP/SP3, all system requirements are met.

I picked this up on a previous giveaway (I think) and lost it during a hard drive crash. I'm SO glad to see it back! Not only is the game fun, but it has a lot of those silly details that make a game so memorable.

Hello.
I have problems downloading the game. I have tried since yesterday, but I am not able to download the file, at the most I have got about 26 MB of it, then the download stops!?
I have tried to download it in different browsers, Firefox, IE, Chrome and Opera - same result - no download!
Are someone able to help me?
Thank you very much, and have a nice sunday.

Hi Paul, it may be too late now becasue there's only 10 mins left of the giveaway. You can get this game for free 24/7 from MyPlayCity. Do read my comments at the end of my review at comment #1 Also if time permits check the AQ's section in the Game discussion stickies (also linked to in my review)

i'd like to rewrite the comment of Elric on May 14th, 2011 at 3:36 am (http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/magic-sweets/#comment-177932)"Downloaded and installed with no problem. Unfortunately when trying and running it you'll get a black screen with a blue box that says frequency out of range (or over frequency, something like that".
i have 2 desktop PCs, good hardwares, latest graphics drivers, screen resolution of 1024x768 (CRT monitor) and 1280x800 (LCD). The obove problem only happens to CRT. It's possible to be the fault of game producer not to correct and fix bugs.
p/s: i often visit Game GOTD and recommend to my friends and my forum, still this Magic Sweets should be delayed to introduce. Thanks

The seldom case of a rotten concept coming back to live. CONGRATULATIONS! This is a really nice game. WELL DONE!

Played this one at some point before and really enjoyed it. If you like TM games and are looking for a decent one, give it a try.

Very nice implementation of a standard TM concept. Installed fine.
Wish the scoring were clearer. what exactly does it take to pass a level? In the store, the money listed on the bottom --which I presume is my purse-- doesn't seem to match what it says I have to spend in the purchase box. In the store, why do I have to click on the item only to find out I don't have enough money? Items I can't afford should be grayed out.
All minor issues.

Oh sorry, I meant to add I like the music and the graphics of the game also! I saw the developers also did the Sushi: The Last Exam!! I learned a great deal about the different types of sushi from that game! Thank you Game Giveaway and also to the mods and to you WhiteRabbit who always works so hard to give us a great idea what the game is about and also other games to try! You just rock! =)

This is a fun little game. I went to watch the tips video and they said you can right click on the oven to get the pastry to the plate to save time, I tried this several times and could not get it to work. I am wondering if I am clicking in the wrong spot? I would have the tips somewhere you can read them on your own since they evaporate a bit too quickly. This reminds me a great deal of Potion Bar actually. I usually don't go for this type of time management (I like the building ones better..All My Gods, Timebuilders series ect.) but this one is fun with the magic aspect. I look forward to the mini games too!! I truly doubt I will be able to get the trophies though!!

Downloaded and trying it now. Not a bad game, actually. You do need to be quick to succeed at it. It is a little monotonous, but I'm still in the early levels. Hope it gets more interesting as it goes along. :)
Thanks once again for the excellent download!

I don't play TM games much - not quick enough. But when someone said there was an easy mode... Yeah! And for free? I'll play anything but shooters and racing games for free, LOL.

Thank You Vasilek Games, WhitRabbit and team @ Game.GAOTD.
Once again not my type of game but must be good as there's no complaints from my partner and shes been quiet over an hour . So guess that's a thumbs up from her and pizza for dinner for me :(
Watched it being played and graphics are nice.
Extracted fine and ran on W7x64 and W7x86 without issue.
No registration hassles.
Language change was automatic (nicely done, don't see multi-language often enough)
No Install (woot - i wanna hugg all Devs who keep peoples PCs in a clean state)
Watched it run smoothly.
Could find anything I would care to be improved , personally I never play games Windowed, but I could see some may desire this.
9/10 for no installer, ease of play, hassle free fun.
Keep up the good work.

Unfortunately I'll have to pass: at home I'm on dialup, so games of this size would take forever to download.
Actually, that's my only unhappiness with this site: you only give away games on the weekend days! And I only have highspeed access during the week at work. :(
But that's my fault, I know.

Sometimes it's worth spending the whole day downloading. What's your limit?

Thank you GGAOTD and Vasilek Games for Magic Sweets game. I, too, am not a big fan of TM games but I will try any freebie! Magic Sweets is definitely an eye grabber with the beautiful graphics and the design layout of the game. I like the map layout so you can watch your progress. Many of the TMs that I've played didn't show your progression so you never knew how near the end you were. I feel this will be a very popular game for the lovers(adult/child) of that genre.

#5: "... It would be great if I could, for example, download one of the weekend games onto my home computer when it is offered, activate it on that computer, then get an activation key that I could use (single-use, time limit, or whatever other controls you may want to put on it) that would allow me to either allow me to download directly or take the download file on thumbdrive/flash card/disc/or whatever to my offsite computer that I cannot easily access on weekends to load and activate there... "
Lots of people are in the same boat so-to-speak, & not just when it comes to stuff that appears on GOTD -- it can be somewhere between nice & necessary to be able to carry your Windows install, complete with whatever software with you. In fact, Windows to Go will be a part of win8, though not all versions. Today many, many people accomplish this with Virtual Machines -- the heart of your VM, the Virtual Disk, is just a single file that can easily be carried with you. VirtualBox [virtualbox.org] is free & has good enough virtual graphics support that it's worked with many [most] of the game giveaways I've tried it with. You might set up V/Box on your weekend PC, create a VM, install today's game &/or GOTD on your PC &/or that VM, then either setup or use the portable version of V/Box on the PC you use during the week, using the same virtual disk [virtual hard drive].

#6: "... THIS giveaway inatalls to C:\Games\MagicSweets and is version 1.5 (i.e. newer!!)"
Thanks! My wife is thrilled -- being newer gives her a great excuse to play it again!

Thanks for giving a better and more useful explanation for #5
Not sure exactly what the changes have been, but I suspect it's mainly the language option. I only played the game as far as the screen shots took me to complete the main part of the tutorial as I do find these games rather tedious (plus I have three or four new games to play today (Risen 2, The Toy soldier, Revelations 2012 and Lone Survivor). There's no doubt the game has been constructed well, and is graphically quite pleasing, but that's as far as I can go today. I know I should put more effort into playing it, but........ :)

I have enjoyed both giveawayoftheday.com and game.giveawayoftheday.com for quite a while, and you have afforded me the opportunity to pick up some awesome software over the years. If I may add something to the wish list, it would be to get the chance to install some of these programs on another computer that is not available on the day of the offer. It would be great if I could, for example, download one of the weekend games onto my home computer when it is offered, activate it on that computer, then get an activation key that I could use (single-use, time limit, or whatever other controls you may want to put on it) that would allow me to either allow me to download directly or take the download file on thumbdrive/flash card/disc/or whatever to my offsite computer that I cannot easily access on weekends to load and activate there. Or simply repeat the offerings of the weekend on one weekday. Perhaps as a one-day-only sub-section on the giveawayoftheday.com site? I personally would greatly appreciate it. But even if that's not possible, I still would like to say how grateful I am for your website and what you are doing for all of us out here. Thank you very much.

Hello David, undfortunately I don't have moderator status on the other side of the project, only the game section so I can't move your post.
also, with respect to installing and registering games and programs from the other part of the project. They are supposed to be installed and rgistered on the day of the giveaway. In most cases you aren't able to do it at any other time because the set up file is wrapped in a giveaway wrapper that prevents you from reusing the set up file. some programs do come with separate reg codes. It is possible to re use these but you have to use the installed folder rather than a set up file unless it's the same version; but then you will be breaking the agreement you make when initially installing the product. That is to install and register it within the 24 hr window of that particular giveaway.
You'll find several threads devoted to this subject. We have had hundreds of community members asking similar questions ever since the project started back in 2006

I think this is a very nice time management game. We had several already, the kind of game stays the same, but graphics are important too. I Like the vibrant colours and the magical atmosphere.
Only two points of criticism:
startup is in fullscreeen mode without a choice
I personally am not a great fan of TM-games.
But still I like this game and keep it.

Thank you for this game, like Stephen, I do not really enjoy that many of the time management genera of games. Though I will admit to having a couple of them on my computer. They may be on my computer I find that they rarely get any game play.
This one looks like it will be more fun for the kids, than it will be for the adults. However that does not mean that some of the adults & parents wont enjoy playing this. But because I know I do not. I will give it a pass. I just wanted to say thank you to Vasilek Games & to Game Give Away Of the Day for bringing us what really does look like really fun little game.
But since I have not actually played it I can not give it a complete review. I did look over a few of the games videos. And judging solely from the sound of the music heard by watching the videos & by seeing the game played this games graphics look quiet good. I also think that the in game's music sounds quiet pleasant. There for I give it a 7 for game sound another 7 for the games music & 8 for the colourful animated graphics.
If you enjoy time management games combined with a fantasy aspect. Then this is a game you can not afford to miss. So do make sure you down load it and give it a try today. You will be sorry if you miss this give away. Judging solely From what I have seen in the you tube videos and from reading the You-tube on-line comments there are a large number of people who found this game very enjoyable to play & they many of them said that they found it to be very amusing.
Even though I am not very qualified to rate this game I will give it full marks and a 7 out of 10. This has some good aspects to it. I am almost tempted to download it just to give it a play through to see what some more of this time managements mini games are like. I also must say that the ambient sound effects are pretty clear in the games' video, while they do sound a little bit cheesy. I have to admit that they go seamlessly hand in hand with the scene's of the video that I was watching at the time I heard them.
Today's game sound effects sounded good. I almost wish some of the other games I play would take a look at the sound effects of this one and reconsider the way they have done there own. If I was into playing these type of games I could easily find the graphics & music of this game very enjoyable.
A big thumbs up from me. This looks like a Great game, even if it is not a completely original idea. This looks like one game that is well put together and judging solely by the on-line testimonials and it's videos a thoroughly enjoyable one as well.
Signed
Rick Frog

A Request for helpl>:
Regards
Whiterabbit aka Stephen
Installation:
The game downloads to a 161Mb zip file that unpacks to a dual activation and set up module together with a read me document. (this file is about 4MB larger than the last time this was given away, which could indicate an update). This has been confirmed the latest version number is v1.5
The game installs to :
C:\Games\MagicSweets
by default but can be changed during the installation wizard if you wish. There is no shortcut installed to either the desktop or Start Menu/Programs folder. The game plays on my Win XP Pro 32 bit, Vista Home Premium 64 bit and Win 7 Pro and Ultimate 64 bit platforms.
If you miss the giveaway the game is available 24/7 from MyPlayCity, though you do get the usual annoyances such as your browser opening when closing the game down and EVERY-TIME you start the game you have to uncheck the tick boxes otherwise you end up with a changed home page and toolbars installed
Introduction:
Magic Sweets was originally given away last May 14th 2011 where it received a positive 66% of 218 votes and 44 comments which you can read HERE
As with the last time this was given away I won’t be fully reviewing today’s game. I really don’t like Time Management (TM) games (apart from the garden and farm management types) so wouldn’t do this game justice. I have posted links to a couple of videos, one of which shows tips and tricks as well as some user reviews and a full game review. I played the game for a short while to see what it was like and can say that it’s colorful and you get all of the elements you’d expect from a TM game such as a tutorial to start you off, various levels of attainment up to a gold cup, (awarded dependent on the time it took to accomplish the aims of the level). There were also mini games and awards for attaining specific goals. The options menu is fairly basic with toggles for full-screen/windowed modes and a custom game cursor plus the usual sound and music sliders. You can create multiple profiles if you wish. There are three modes available to play. Relaxed, Normal (default) and Challenge modes, with 60 levels for each mode, this should keep the most ardent of TM gamer's happy for a few days or weeks. ;-) There are several trophies available to those that play the game with gusto, for example there are awards for showing respect to the crown, business success, zeal conquering the disc, park and castle as well as others. Apart from inputting your name the game is fully mouse controlled, though you can pause the game via the Esc key if you wish. I've taken screen-captures of most of the tutorial screens which you can see via a slideshow HERE. I neglected to renumber the images beofre uploading so the slideshow starts with the last image and works backwards. Still, it will give you an idea as what to expect from the game.
The following introduction was taken from the developers site.

The second video shows you thirteen different tips and tricks released by the developer to help you get through the game,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJdKhpyDLdc (Tips & Tricks)
Key features of the game:
• 3 game locations with 20 levels each
• 3 mini-games
• Superb graphics and game atmosphere
• 8 unique talking characters
• 60 Levels
• Purchase enchanting upgrades and earn fabulous trophies.
• A friendly trainable sidekick - a baby dragon Dino
• Reality and magic intertwined
• Wide screen support
• The game has been updated and now includes 3 game modes: relaxed, normal and challenge.
Game & user reviews:
You can check out user reviews HERE
And HERE
As well as a full game review HERE
System requirements:
• Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Seven or MacOSX Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard
• Intel, AMD or PowerPC G4/G5 1500 MHz processor or better
Conclusion:
This is a colorful, game with all the elements you’d expect from a Time Management ™ game. I won’t score this for the reason I gave above, however I think it will be a worthwhile download for those who enjoy playing TM games. The inclusion of a relaxed mode does help to lessen the stress of playing these TM games, but for me that wasn't enough. The game looks like it’s been well constructed. The user reviews generally said it was a slow starter, but it got interesting as they progressed through the levels.
If you have any problems installing today's game please go HERE for help.
If you're looking for something other than today's game check the didimatic site via THIS link for some brilliant deals. Steam has an excellent deal on the latest Call of Duty game (COD: Modern Warfare 3), with a free weekend to play the multiplayer part of the game, and, if you decide to purchase there's 33% off. I'm not sure if the single player element of the game is included in the free weekend. I suspect not because when I installed the game last year it installed the multiplayer and singleplayer separately.
You can get Aqua Bubble for free from Realore this weekend and Fashion Weekend is still available for free via Alawars gamebox (You need to install the free gamebox from Alawar to access the free games, which for newcomers change over approximately every month). If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals. For example, I posted details of a superb 3D space game called Wing Commander Saga: The Darkest Dawn which is totally free. There's also updates to games I've posted over the last three years as well as several other new postings that include I shall Remain, Counterstrike 2D, a SAM Missile simulator, Arx Libertatis, SCP- Containment Breach (horror), Speed Dreams (motorsport sim), Battlemass (strategy game), Naev (space arena shmup) and a cartoon like shooter called bullet Train, plus many more (well over 2000 free games). There's also at least three or four indie game bundles still available; where you pay what you want. You'll find details over in the forums as well. :)
The latest 24 hr deal from Steam is The Cursed Crusade an excellent action adventure set against a backdrop of the Old World (Crusades) with 50% off you can get the game for only £8.99/$14.99.
If you want more TM games there's loads available for free from MyPlayCity and Gametop, however both sites do try to install toolbars and hijack your browser, but for MyPlayCity it is avoidable by making sure you uncheck the check-boxes when installing the games though I've not checked Gametop for some time as they had become quite aggressive the last time I tried. In the case of MyPlayCity games; every time you start the game those check-boxes will be presented to you, so make sure you uncheck them, otherwise you'll be the proud owner of a MyPlayCity/Ask tool bar and you'll have to fiddle around to change your browsers home page back to whatever you have it set to. MyPlayCity do have a fantastic choice of arcade games, so although those things are an annoyance, I think it's still worth the effort, especially if you can't afford to purchase the games.
You can find Gametop HERE and MyPlayCity HERE
