Although not a cutting edge game, it is just plain silly fun. Low stress level if you take it with a sense of humor. "Thumbs Up"
Thanks to Alawar for this game. I had never heard of this game before.

This game reminds me of the bow and arrow game. It can be quite challenging, depending on the speed of your "trigger" finger. I've made it to level 11 before dying. I won't play it all the time, but it is a nice change of pace from the usual games I play. Thanks, GGOTD & Alawar! Can't wait to see what game is available tomorrow!

BTW, GGOTD team. Perhaps a sneak peek at the title for the next day's game/software give away would quiet some of the whiners, since they would then know what to expect tomorrow.

I played this to about level 17 or so, I enjoyed it, but I can see how it could get a bit boring after a while for some of the more practiced gamers out there. I liked some of the bonuses like electrocuting the wolves and the snowballs. I think the key to keeping a game like this interesting is to add interesting bonuses. For those of you who were lucky enough to get "Master of Defense" when it was offered a while back, I was happy to get my "Master" shield today. I love that game, I'm addicted to it. I doubt this game will fall into the same category, but I enjoyed playing it, and think the younger set will particularly like it. Thanks GGOTD!

Why do people complain? This is free! Some games I don't even look at but I have also got some brilliant ones.

This one today will be good for my disabled son to get his co-ordination going.

Thanks GOTD

While I have to admit that the sound effects got a bit irritating after awhile, and I found my wrist and forearm getting sore from constantly shooting (I would find it less of a strain if there was another control option besides the mouse), overall I found this to be a very cute and enjoyable game. I know several adults who would enjoy it, so I disagree with those that claim it's only for children. I think that both children and adults will enjoy this game. Thank you for another nice offering, GOTD.

Cheryl McGraw(#38): I thought "whining" had been misspelled the first time I saw "whinging", too. But I looked it up and it sho' 'nuff is a word. It means "to whine." I kid you not. But it said it's more common in the U.K. (I'm in the U.S.) Live and learn, I always say.
P.S.- It rhymes with "hinge"

This is one of the better games that GOTD has given out. I especially liked the ability to place the game in a window, rather than have it take up the entire screen.

I am a great-grandfather, and I'm aware that the offensive words are a part of the language, I'm also aware that certain words are reserved for the gutter and are not used in polite society. Just as violence is the last resort of a limited mind, the use of scatological terminology is the last resort of a limited vocabulary, and they have no place in any site visited by civilized people no matter what their age.

If the literary challenged visitors to this site have no manners, breeding, or vocabulary then the monitors of the site should exercise better judgement and excise those comments.

Swan & others.
The screen is black b/c during setup you selected a larger resolution than your video card will allow for this game. That means it will only play in the small window not full screen. Try going to your start menu under those games and reconfigure the settings to default & NOT full screen mode. You should then be able to see and play the games like that. Good Luck ;)

Downloads and plays without any difficulty on my Acer Incorporated CPU
AMD Sempron Processor 3200+
1.00 GHz, 1.43 GB of RAM
OS Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2

You are a Little Pig on a simple elevator. The Big Bad Wolves are trying to get up to your pulley, cut your rope with scissors, and make you fall down and go boom. They blow up balloons and hang on to the strings to float their way to the platform above you. You use your slingshot to burst their balloons. Occasionally a crow flies in directly at you and he must be hit several times or avoided. Secret weapons flutter down from above in parachutes - such as snowballs which freeze the wolves who then crack up, electroballs which give them the funniest skeleton glow before they disappear or boulders which knock a wolf off the platform above if one should make it to the top. Extra lives fall down too.

The game progresses in groups of 5 levels and after 10, I had to conquer a nasty wolf with a gun who flew in from above on a reinforced balloon, shooting intermittently at me until I hit his balloon enough times to knock him down. I only got as far as level 11 when the wolves started fighting back! The levels progressed quickly at first and each one brought something new to the game I believe - keeping it interesting. I could see 40 levels. The game appears to autosave and progress through the entire game but no opportunity for multiple players that I could see although It didn't ask for my name in the beginning and I didn't try putting in another name with a score.

All in all I was a busy little pig.

My only difficulty was the responsiveness of the left click of my mouse. I use a Microsoft Tracball due to some mobility issues and boy did my thumb get tired, even though I have it set for a rather light touch. I couldn't keep up with the demand for more rocks or snowballs! I tried using my left hand to hit my left click, but that was just as awkward. I was wishing for the option to switch to spacebar for firing as in some of the other games offered here by Alawar that require repeated firing (Snowy The Bear's Adventures, Foxy Jumper 2, Foxy Jumper Winter Adventures).

But it's a keeper. I can leave it when I'm tired and come back another day without loosing ground. Thank you so much Alawar and GGotD for the fun games with unique characters. Feelers, Snowy, Foxy and now Piglet are my pals.

Really cute game and it's from Alawar so everything works. Cute graphics and the game is very funny and easy to play. Kids will love it and adults will like it, but only if the adults have a good sense of humor. :D

Laura in comment #3 and WhiteRabbit in #19 already described game play, be sure to read their comments. If the player misses a balloon it's still possible to knock down a wolf, just hit the wolf directly several times.

It installed and runs fine on my computer and obviously for others as well. People getting only a black or gray screen may want to first check that their computer meets the minimum requirements listed above the download link, it should as they are not very much. Another thing to try is see if the game conflicts with another program that may be running in the background.

Incidentially, I tried but did not review yesterday's Elite Mahjong game. It was a good game but can't begin to compare to Alawar's Mahjong Artifacts that was given away a while ago. Mahjongg Artifacts has many more levels, and far better graphics with choice of 99 different tile layouts and 63 beautiful backgrounds. Also saw the suggested freeware Mahjong games, some were good but again none as good as Mahjongg Artifacts. Recommend any Mahjong fans who missed that giveaway check it out, they may just find it worth buying.

REVIEW - The game is great for young kids only. It's basically a shooter type game where a pig shoots rocks at wolves or the helium balloons they're holding before they can reach the pig's home. I've played the first 15 levels and they're basically all the same. It's a cute game for kids, but very repetitive. The games offered here should indicate their recommended age range as to avoid any negative reviews, since I think only young kids will enjoy it. I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

#33 - I can't help you, but I know what you mean. My screen flashed from gray to a solid, scary black and back again several times before the game actually came up.

This game was too young for me, but I thought it was really cute and would recommend it to people with little kids. I'm not quite sure why #18 would think it was violent - if you actually shoot the wolves, they don't even flinch! And the raven drops some feathers, but he comes right back a few seconds later.

Good morning everyone,

This is one of those instances where I have a problem running the game of the day. I think I've had three others, and that's all in the past couple of weeks :/

The game activated and installed well - but that's where it ends. When I run the game, all I get is a black screen - though I can hear the game music in the background.

Any ideas from any of our game junkies please? WhiteRabbit .. anyone?

This looks like a fun remake of "Pooyan", as others have already remarked here. What I'd like to point out, is that 25 years ago, when this game first came out, it was not targeted at just kids. Video games were considered a state of the art concept, and adults were far more addicted to them than kids were (especially since adults were the ones holding all the quarters). Pooyan was a MAMMOTH, HUGE hit among adults.

Mel and PegM4- Make sure when you download, you select activate and not just set up. Some of the games have activate included with set up. This is not one of them. That should take care of the 30 minute problem.

The game is actually quite fun. I only played for a minute but I can't wait to play all the levels. You can turn off the annoying song by going to options and turn down the other sounds as well. I also like the options of "windowing" it instead of using full screen because it looks better.

Thanks GOTD! I would like some word games though, if you can find any out there. Or typing too. Some more adult level would be appreciated. Those are always fun. I loved Mahjong yesterday. But hey, it's all free so I'm not complaining. thanks!

While i love to come on here and find games for the kids, sorry guys... but it is nice to have a more adult themed or skill level type game. Yes, GAOTD listens to it's customers in response to feedback on the games, but they don't necessarily have the means or companies offering to give everyone what they want. That is a good idea from Sandra and hopefully some schools, churches etc., will take advantage of the free offers. Just don't bombard us with too many "kids" games or word games.... variety is nice.

I agree with comment # 12 Jennifer; it is similar to Zak and Jack. My kids will love this one. Zak and Jack was played out in two weekends play by my son. This will probably last a morning though as there are only 40 levels. I played seven levels in just over 5 minutes. I thought it was okay, although my firing finger is rather sore now as you have to click once for each sling shot; however this is not a problem as such, just warning those with creaking bones like mine (due to broken fingers mainly, not old age just yet, although I'm not far off). As you progress through the levels you encounter more and more wolves, some of which will either fire a pistol back at you or send up several balloons to create a block for the wolves to pass. These look different to the ones trying to get up to the bridge.

You get power ups throughout the game that are transferable to the next level. These include weights that cause any wolves that successfully navigate to the bridge to be thrown off. However the weight is lost once the wolf has fallen. There are also extra lives, snowballs and score packages to collect. I only went as far as level 7 so there may be more types of power ups to collect. I have other more important games to play (lol) this one’s for the kids. :D

To save your progress you will have to complete at least 5 levels at a time. For example I stopped on level 7. When I returned to the game I had to restart at level 6.

The options menu gives you the ability to turn sound effects and music off if you wish, and you can also select windowed or full screen mode as well as change the quality of graphic from low medium, high to very high, although I couldn't detect much difference between the 2 higher ones (my graphics card is an Nvidia 7900GS 256Mb card, middle of the range card for playing games such as Stalker, SH4 or the Battlefield series). If you wish you can also change your mouse pointer, but I see no real use for this particular option.

Overall I give this a 7 out of 10 because I know my kids are going to love it. The graphical quality is 'not at all bad'

I don't get it? It has cartoony graphics that would appeal to young children, but it has vicious game play that is more suited to adults. If you're going to make a violent game, don't make it appealing to young kids!

You can play the 25 years old original - POOYAN - online here: http://www.1980-games.com/us/old-games/java-games/pooyan.php (Click Big Screen after reading instructions)

Pooyan is a classic arcade game manufactured by Stern Electronics under license from Konami in 1982. In it, the player controls "Mama", a pig whose babies have been kidnapped by a group of wolves. Pooyan was also released for the Atari 2600, Atari 8-bit family, Commodore 64, MSX, Apple II, and the Nintendo Family Computer.

Mama Pig defends her home and rescues her "Pooyan" (the kidnapped piglets) riding an elevator car moved by two "Buuyan" (controlled by the player with a Y-axis [up and down] joystick), and uses a bow and arrow with slabs of meat against the balloon-riding wolves and their boss (the latter being pink in color while the former are red).
