THIS IS ONLY A DEMO, but still worth a look-see. I've also posted some links to some old AAA games that are now available for free that feature tanks.

In Brief:
WWII Tanks: Forgotten Battles is an arcade tank simulation game made with Unity. We've had different versions of this game over the last couple of years. Unfortunately WWII Tanks: Forgotten Battles is only a demo of the full version.
The Game:
When you click on the Full Version button, a window opens to the Steam version HERE . In this demo version you only get three missions, one each from the German, Axis and American campaigns. The Axis campaign repeats some of the German missions, but the one in the demo although the same operation as the German one, starts in a different position.

Controlling the tank is easy and you can change camera position to play inside the tank or an outside view. When aiming at a tank the reticule will change to red when you are on target. You can also see bar graphs that show the damage to the tank, it's tracks and the turret.

I may buy this on Steam as it's a reasonable arcade tank game and dirt cheap (about the price of a large Starbucks coffee). The graphic is okay, though not as good as a full tank simulation. Even my early Battlefield games have tanks that look better, and play better. You can now get all three of the original Battlefield games for free as they are no longer supported by EA Games. I'll be posting some reviews and other details in the game Discussion forums sometime in the coming weeks. However, if you are interested in getting them now you'll find Battlefield 1942 HERE, Battlefield Vietnam HERE and Battlefield 2 HERE) . . All three games are still supported by the modding community and you'll find hundreds of mods and maps for all three games on various sites such as ModDB, GameFront, Game Banana and Nexus Mods. I have a couple of terabytes of mods and maps downloaded over the years for all three games as I 've been playing them on and off ever since they were released between 2002 to 2005; and, in fact I'm setting up a server to play Battlefield Vietnam with some friends in the near future.

Todays game is very similar to a few tank games we received over the last few years and one over a decade ago i.e. WWII Tank Commander (2008 & 2007), WWII Tanks Battle (Aug 2021), Tank Commander (Jan 2022), WWII Tanks: Battlefield (Jan 2022) & Tank Commander: Battlefield (July 2022) .

You can see a few videos of game play HERE, HERE and HERE. and one via the Steam store page HERE.
Controls:
W or Forward Arrow = Move Forward
S or Back Arrow = Move Back
A or left Arrow = Move Left
D or Right Arrow = Move Right
Mouse pointer = Move Turret
LMB = Fire
Esc = Menu or Pause
F1 = Restart

There is input for:
Mouse + Keyboard (Pressing)
Mouse + Keyboard (Stepwise)
GamePad

However, the Gamepad doesn't work. Settings always revert to the default settings when rebooting the game.
Notes on SecurityThe installed Game is too large to upload to either of the two online antimalware suites that I use to test giveaways (almost 3GB); so, I can't provide evidence that the game is free of malware. That said, the giveaway team have always tested downloads before allowing them in the download servers and have never given away a game infected with malware since the projects inception back in December 2006 (and via the main site prior to that from October to early December 2006).

If anyone is interested in a free open source once commercial tank shooting game I highly suggest Treadmarks which is an arcade style tank shooter with online play.

https://longbowgames.com/treadmarks/

The game was in stores at one point as well. Longbow Games generously released the full game for free to celebrate the birthday of one of their family members who had passed away (was also a programmer) and also released the entire source code to the game so that people can improve on the game itself.

sailorbear510 aka Jason,

Ah! Longbow Games. I was surprised to see it mentioned here. I bought Rival Ball Tournament and DX Ball 2, from them way back in the noughties. Brilliant breakout games. DXBall 2 was re-released as the 20th Anniversary Edition on Steam HERE back in 2018.

Rival Ball tournament used to have a multiplier option where you could play against your friends. I think you may still set up a server (need to check), so if you have a friend with the game you can still play against each other. The game had some really cool power ups. It's basically a pong inspired game (much like another Pong Inspired breakout called Little Gods and of course Geometry Ball, which you can get free from Gametop HERE). I've still got both of Longbows breakout games installed on my latest computer and both work perfectly despite being created for Win XP.
Tread Marks is definitely worth downloading. Love the Arcady feel to it. Great fun to play.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Yes, you can still set up your own server in Rival Ball Tournament., but you'd have to have friends who also play the game. Longbow shut down the official servers years ago. Still, this is one of the things i love about games like this. Many of the games that included multiplayer options in the noughties included server files packaged with the game so that you could set up your own servers. I think the practice stopped after the financial crisis where developer were looking for ways to make up the losses following the price of games crashing significantly. So, multiplayer games post financial crisis usually had online servers run by the developers; so, when they closed the server down due to them no longer being profitable, the games die I have lots of multiplayer games on Steam that are totally dead due to the servers no longer operating. it's a sad state of affairs. Thankfully many of my favourite games from the noughties all have the ability to set up servers (e.g. the three Battlefield games that are now free.

I wish Longbow would do a re-release of Rival Ball with up to date graphics like they did with DXBall 2. (You can get the original DXBall for free over on Caiman Games HERE). Rival Ball still looks decent if you play in a window, but full screen on a 27'' monitor it looks very grainy, but as it was released in 2004, it still looks great.

Hi Giveaway-Team,

this looks like the Demo-Version as defined in the Main-Page by loading the game.
Can you check if it is possible to get full version too?

Just found in your commentary that you already defined this game as the demo-version, I was only a bit confused about it was titled in this header you don't have to pay 5 bucks as an giveaway-version :)

anna wanna, true anna, but this giveaway may be a misunderstanding between GGOTD and Falco, as the giveaway project almost never gives away demos, but almost always full games instead. But no way to know for sure, unless they realize it and say something.
