Vikindor is more of an Action Platformer game with fighting that also uses a randomly generated world rather than levels which are specifically designed. It was released on Steam on September 24, 2022 and has never been given away before here. Controls are the four arrow keys to move, spacebar to jump, and using the Z, X, C buttons for your three weapons which are sword, bow&arrow, and bomb. A mini map of the level that shows enemies as well has been included in the upper right of the screen.
When AAA studios moved away from developing platformers, indie creatives took it upon themselves to keep the genre alive. The success founded by these indie titles has shown big-budget developers that there is still high demand for a great action platformer. Jumping mechanics, fighting moves, and collectible items are three hallmarks of platformer gameplay.
Personally I have enjoyed some of these many 2d platformers recently such as cathedral and splasher, and Demon Turf (in 3D), and I really was never a major mario platforming fan other than the 3d editions like super mario 64 and up. Here however I think the random generation doesnt help as much for platformers as it does in dungeon crawlers. Controls are playable but may be awkward for some using the keyboard layout and should post your thoughts if you try it out.
Gold however is useless at the moment as there is nowhere to spend it such as buying more weapon or armor, ammo, or upgrades that could be added and you start already with all three of the weapons. There is no real clear objective to the game as the gameplay is mainly just killing the monsters, grabbing loot, and going from door to door but that can generate some shorter term enjoyment, just that there is not yet a lot of meat on the bones so to speak to continue playing or coming back to after you try it out a bit it may feel a bit empty in its current state. Since its random without end, there is no save and no need for it.
