Game play Videos:
You can see a game play video via the Steam store HERE.
The Game:
This game is available on Steam for £0.79. I was quite intrigued as it looked quite extensive and I love indie exploratory games; however, I spent over an hour trying to get past the first series of corridors where a collapsed floor meant you had to jump across four breaks in the corridor via three platforms to get to the other side of the collapsed section. There are no instructions included with the game, nor any options apart from the initial configuration window that pops up when you start the game and where you can select the resolution and whether to play in full screen or a window.
I experimented and eventually realised that I needed to take a running jump onto the first platform; this is accomplished by using the Shift and W keys to run faster; then, at the very edge of the first collapsed section of corridor jump by pressing the space key. The same process is repeated to the next two platforms (though you cannot take a running jump as the platforms are too small). Unfortunately, after over an hours worth of game play over two sessions, this is as far as I got because firstly I'm useless at most platform games (always have been), but also partly due to the nausea inducing run up the sloping corridor that takes you back to the beginning of the collapsed corridor. Every time walked or ran up this corridor, the whole scene juddered significantly. This gave me a feeling of motion sickness and by the time I’d attempted at least 50 jumps I was feeling very nauseous, so gave up, when I repeated the game again later, the same thing happened and I was forced to lay down in a darkened room until the nausea subsided. This iusn't an enjoyable experience, so i'm not sure if I will continue with this game later?

On watching the Steam video I noticed there were other areas where you were forced to do more than one jump onto either a collapsed corridor or platforms on different levels. For £0.79 this game is a bargain but only for those who consider themselves expert platformers. Personally I’ve always been rubbish at most platformers, so have put this game aside for 'maybe' another attempt sometime in the future. I like the stylized graphic and the overall look of the game, but cannot recommend this to anyone who can't do platform games.

There’s a more satisfying indie freeware 'top down' arena shooter available by clicking on the large green button HERE ( Japanese site) that I checked with Virus Total called Undefined (not related to today's giveaway).
If today’s game doesn’t appeal to you and you still need a game fix, there are always alternative freebies available, or you could check out some of the indie bundles that are available via Indie Gala and the Humble bundle; there are loads of different indie bundles available , but the two I mentioned consistently include decent games that are worth buying, especially at the prices being asked, whereas 'most' of the other indie bundles that are still available tend to include a lot of those £0.79p games most of which are rubbish, though there are exceptions such as the Fanatical bundles (formerly called Bundle Stars). The latest Epic Games freebies include six batman titles worth a total of £100, the Arkham collection (three batman titles), which you’ll find HERE and the Batman Lego Collection HERE. These will be available for free until next Thursday 26th September when they will change over to two more games called Everything an epic, award-winning interactive experience where every object in the Universe is a playable character - from animals to planets to galaxies and beyond. Travel between outer and inner space, and explore a vast, interconnected universe of things without enforced goals, scores, or tasks to complete. Everything is a procedural, AI-driven simulation of the systems of nature, seen from the points of view of everything in the Universe. The second game is one of my favorite post-apocalyptic FPS games called Metro 2033 Redux. Also, check out Indie Gala for lots of freebies (20+) HERE. They add new games regularly (at least 2 or 3 every week) via their Developers showcase section, so its worth checking a couple of times a week. As some are added, some are removed. Once added to your indie Gala library, they are permanently attached, so you can access then at any time. You can download a free standing version of each game (some even have Mac versions to download). Recent additions include Survivor Squad (a Strategy Action game where you control a Squad of up to four survivors and guide them through a highly randomized world looking for supplies to aid you on your journey.), Crowd Control , Merry Glade (a bloody love story between Bunny and Carrot not suitable for children due to blood and gore, despite having a childish graphic style), Lucid Nina, Journey of a Roach, Welcome To... Chichester OVN 2 : Master Tormentor Grendel Jinx !?, Hell Cat Redux, Lady’s Hentai Mosaic, Pixel Hentai mosaic; (some of the latter titles include adult content), plus Land it Rocket (moon lander type game), Poly Golf a simple top down golf game), Pixel Hentai Mosaic (adult content), Five Nations (A futuristic real-time strategy game that follows the events of a mind-bending opera of space about the survival of humanity.) and Snake Eyes Dungeon (a dice based dungeon crawler).
Ubisoft have a special on at the moment HERE that ends on the 30th September, where you can play loads of AAA games for free by signing up for a monthly deal. you can cancel the deal before the end of the free period and there’s no charge. Otherwise it costs $12.99 per month thereafter. I've not signed up for this myself partly becasue I already have most of the games that are available to play. Games include all the Assassin Creed games, all the Tom Clancy games, plus loads more games such as the Crew, Rayman Origins, Watch dogs 1 and 2, Prince of Persia franchise, Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, Anno' franchise, From Dust, Track-mania franchise, and loads more (around 200 games to choose from).

Fairly largish size for $0.99 game. Testy review by 1 user. See Steam lists nothing for it yet except comes in 2 langs, English & Russian. Nuf said other than the endless loop in Steam sample of just moving thru same corridors?
Thanks anyway GOTD.

beergas, So far that's all I've been able to do. There's a spot where you have to jump across a broken corridor, but after 20+ attempt's I just kept falling down, and repeating the process. I'm going to try a few more times later. got other stuff to sort at the moment.

It doen't start. It says that OpenAL32.dll is missing. I tried downloading the file from external sources but then it just crashes.

Ezezin,

Hi Ezezin,

Where did you get the Open AL32.dll and where did you install it? Library files usually go in the System 32 folder which you can find via the following path:

C:\Windows\System32

Also try placing a copy of the library file in the games installed folder. There is a lib folder inside the Mono folder i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\UNDEFINED\Mono\lib where a lot of .dll files are kept, but looking at my installed game I couldn't find any trace of the Open AL library file, so its more likely supposed to go into the system 32 folder.

Open AL is a cross platform audio program for enhancing sound in a 3D environment and is from Creative labs, the developers of the famous Sound Blaster audio system for example the Audigy and XFi systems that I'm still using, (fifth gen' sound cards, now superseded by sixth and X generation cards)

You can download the full Open AL file for free HERE.

After installing this application i was greeted with an endless loop of user area access notifications from windows coming from this game. I had to restart the pc and quickly uninstall the application. Very unhappy about that..

AJ,

Hi AJ, can you copy the Event Viewer messages related to this endless loop; it may allow me or one of the community to suggest a fix. Thank you.
