Ultimate Puzzles Nature
In Brief
Ultimate Puzzles Nature is a jigsaw puzzle, created using the unity engine. When you open the game you will see a hand with a left and right arrow. To see the other jigsaw images you just have to click on the image and drag it to the left or right to reveal the other images. There only appears to be four images to complete. I don't have the time to do all of those to see if the game then opens up a different set of images {despite the short time it takes to complete these as I've got a lot on today), but I suspect it doesn't; (I may be wrong).

Each of the four puzzles is made up of 16 square pieces. which are placed on a 4 x 4 grid. You can turn each piece by clicking on it to bring it to the right orientation. Once a puzzle piece has been placed in the correct position, it locks in place. If you try to place a piece on an element of the grid it will jump back to the periphery where other pieces are located.

These puzzles are very simple and are probably only suitable for younger children between the ages of 6 to 8. An adult could complete the game in around 10 to 15 minutes at the very least. It took me just over 3 minutes to complete the puzzle and that included time to take and label a few screen captures. On a second attempt it toom be just under two and a half minutes to complete the picture. 2minutes and 29 seconds and I was taking screen captures which added to the time.

The latest game from Epic Games called Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition is now available free HERE. It's a a 2D metroidvania platformer full of mystical creatures and boundless exploration. Next Thursday's game (4th Feb) is called For The King, a challenging blend of strategy, turn-based combat, and roguelike elements. Each playthrough is unique with procedural maps, quests, and events. Explore Fahrul in either single player, local, or online co-op.

There's also a nice little walking simulator available over on Steam for free. It's very short, but worth taking a look (IMO); it's an ideal accompaniment with your drink of choice taken during a short break from other games. It received a 92% positive rating from the Steam community from 1499 reviews. You can find it HERE. I wrote a short review of it HERE
Security Information
The executable file (before installing the game) had one hit from 58 engines i.e. Dr Web; you can see the results HERE. Once installed I zipped the games folder and uploaded it to Virus Total. This gave a 100% clean install from 61 engines; you can see the results HERE, which mean no adverts once the game has been installed, nor browser redirects to Falcowares home page. The adware detected by Dr Web is a benign low level adware that is only activated when you install the game and it's only action is to open your browser to Falcowares home page where they will earn money, part of which is paid to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. There is nothing injected into the computer system and once the game has been installed that's the end of it. The four shortcuts installed to the desktop can be deleted with no effect on the game. They are added simply as another means for the distributor to earn money to keep the site open and their is no contract to say you have to click on them. They are put there simply for your convenience.

Whiterabbit-uk,

When I checked to make sure I'd added the code to the links to Virus Total in the Security section above, Windows defender blocks access or some reason. I'm able to visit Virus Web site with no issues and if I copy and paste the link it works okay, but I'm not able to access the links using the usual code? The following are the two links that I posted at the end of my review.

58 engines one hit from Dr Web - https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/6eef543bff4ec754b52f6fcf579dbafba043d16310f6dad25c1c80c7c6ff4d8f/detection

Whiterabbit-uk,

p.s.
The best jigsaw puzzle I've ever played and which was given away on this site 12 years ago HERE; called Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle, included 100 images divided into various categories, with the option of changing the number of pieces anywhere from a simple 15 piece jigsaw to a 1040 jigsaw; plus you could change the form of the jigsaw into different shapes from complex lugs to simple or complex geometric shapes and you could also input any .jpg image of your choice, including family images, to add to the jigsaw. You could also add your own categories to the default categories eg holidays, animals, landscapes, portraits etc. I've looked for that particular jigsaw several times over the years with a view to buying a copy from the developer, but have not been able to find it; thankfully I still have a copy of the original giveaway on one of my older computers. :)

Whiterabbit-uk, there seem to be many options to download a game called Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle. Not sure if it's the same game, but the choices can be found HERE.

hogwasher,

Thanks for the link hogwasher. The first in the list takes you to Alawar. i checked this one the other day , but wasn't able to find a download link, but this time there was. As yet I don't know whether the download is just a demo or the full version. I still have to check it via Virus Total. Alawar don't usually give away games directly from their sites, though we got many of their games via the giveaway site up to about 7 years ago.

I think it was an Alawar giveaway.

I still consider it the best free standing digital jigsaw puzzle I've ever seen because of all the options it has, especially the ability to add your own images plus the ability to change the lug shape.

hogwasher, I did a Virus Total scan, which gave it 2 hits from 69 engines.

Probably okay, but I'm more interested in finding a site that still sells the game as I feel obligated to buy a copy as I've had a lot of fun with the original giveaway over the years. I mentioned in my review above that I still have it on an older computer. I was able to transfer it over and it still works.

Whiterabbit-uk, BigFishGames sells it for $9.99; freedownloadmanager.org has a Shareware license for $19.99. You can pay astatix.com $6.99. It's "Free to try; $19.95 to buy" from http://www.newfreedownloads.com. There are many choices on that google search page.

hogwasher,

Thanks for the information. I never thought to try Big Fish Games.

I've still got an account with them; though I've not purchased anything from them for several years. I used to get a token each month, but most of the game they were adding were HOG's and Time Management games. TM games are the one genre I really do not like and I have hundreds of HOG's and was getting fed up of paying several pounds a month only to choose games I wasn't interested in. I wanted breakouts and Shmups, which at the time were not being released. Thankfully there has been a massive resurgence of Shmups over the last few years and some decent breakouts have also been released. :)

It's well worth $9.99. especially considering that most of the arcade game sI purchased over a decade ago (before the 2008 financial crisis used to cost $19.99. I'd purchased over 900 from Reflexive Arcade back then. They were bought out by Amazon and now I can no longer 'officially' re register any of the games I got from Reflexive Arcade because they had DRM which meant you had to apply for a new code if you installed the game to a new computer. Amazon only gave the reflexive community six months to re register their games; which was okay if you were not going to upgrade your computer; but most gamers do at last after several years.

I now use one of those code generators (made by a hacker), which I found several years ago that enables me to re register most of the games I bought.

The best jigsaw puzzle me and mom played on her now expired XP was "Jigzone" . It had daily puzzles and large variety of pictures and shapes and difficulty levels. I used it to gage mom's slow decline.

Dobromilka,

Sorry to hear that Dobromilka; my father and one aunt passed away with end stage Alzheimer's (it's a cruel way to go for the family) and one of my only surviving aunts in Australia has been diagnosed with dementia. It's the one thing that really scares me about growing old; I want to be in full control of my memories at the end.

I'd never heard of Jigzone. Checked it out and it looks pretty decent. I like the fact that you can upload images as well.
