Actually I have tried some of those sites mentioned but I found that you got a small window for the game part and the rest of the screen was an ad playing on the Freeride games.

"MyPlaycity used to ‘force’ you to install toolbars and hijack your home page, otherwise you couldn’t play thier games (well, most of them), but now you get a choice and in some cases theres no prompts so you get a clean install; also, when you close the games down your browser is opened to the MyPlayCity home page; thankfully it’s innocuous. Also there are no in game adverts. There are several sites that have similar games and the same issues, such as GameTop, FreeGamePick, and FreeRide Games."
--------------------------------------
Many of the games offered free at these sites are essentially one and the same, but with different titles. For instance, those 3/4 view helicopter shmups where one flies over realistic-looking terrain, or the stationary overhead space shooters wherein enemy craft assemble at the top and have health meters. Great games, in some cases, but I don't want to download twenty versions of the same thing.

Yes you are right, however it's easy enough to see which ones are the same from the screenshots that can be found on the download pages. I post all the links as some prefer to use Gametop wheras others MyPlayCity.

Game installed on win 7 x64, but had to run windowed because it just kept flashing black screen at me in fullscreen. The game itself is fun, and the physics are good enough for what the game is. However, this version of the game can be completed in what seemed like 15 minutes. It definitely needs alot more areas with a decent amount of levels and it would be worth buying. Very similar to trials 2 game.

Wouldn't run for me. Windows Vista.

did you try the MyPlayCity version? It has 15 levels as opposed to 8 and two modes plus two extra bikes to unlock. See my review above for a download link. :)

You are invited to visit sponsors' site and/or game while the games are loading but the game still loads if you ignore it. There are ads on the web page but you don't need to activate them. Just make sure you uncheck any boxes which sometimes appear in the instal process and you are not bothered by anything other than being taken to their webpage when you close the game - you can either just kill the page or check out other free games. I have used them for years and have had no trouble with them

Sorry Mod, I only looked at the "Other such games" summary :-)

No need to apologise Tom.

I actually had to come take a second look at this one. Over here we have things called "Trail Bikes" and upon seeing the title of today's game I wasn't sure if they'd made a spelling error or were doing something interesting. Looks interesting and I usually enjoy the bike racing ones more than cars.. I think I'll grab a copy. My thanks to the Devs and GGotD.

Hey guys what's this myplaycity. I hadn't heard of it before, how can it have full free games? Does it play ads when running or install a toolbar or ad/spyware? It says games paid for by sponsors does that mean sponsor ads in game or on website?

i hate it when games require you to use the keyboard! I much prefer games that let me relax and use my trackball with my laptop to play them.

I'm surprised you left out Trials 2: http://www.redlynxtrials.com/ - by far the best!

Hi Tom, no I didn't. If you read my review above you'll note that I mention Trials 2: Second Edition and say why I think it's the best:

and a good news is that this game is also downable in http://www.myplaycity.com/motocross_africa/
maybe in diffrent name but still its the same game as here!

Actually it's not the same game. The MyPlayCity version is much better because there's nearly double the number of levels to play, two more bikes to unlock and also theres two game modes (Time Trial and collect the Stars) to play, wheras the game giveaway version only has the one mode (Time Trial)

‘Trial motorbikes: African Trail’ was developed by Handmade Games (who incidentally have finally got a basic web site up and running ). The game unpacks to a readme and a dual activation and set up file. The games executable is approximately 57Mb (half the size of the myPlayCity version) in size once unpacked and installs to:
C:/Games/TMAT/
The installed folder is over 120Mb in size. no shortcut is installed and there's no uninstaller within the installed games folder.
The game:
The game is similar to Super Motocross Deluxe that was given away back in January this year except that there are new levels that emulate an African environments.
Unfortunately every time I tried to take a screen capture the game crashed; however, the ones I found over on cccpgames.ru’s web site give an adequate picture of what you can expect. As for any problems running the game; please check back to previous giveaways via the link I’ve provided HERE before posting any problems you are having because you may find the answer there
I downloaded the demo and compared it to the Gametop version of Super Motocross Deluxe to check on my suspicions as to whether this was just a cosmetic work over of the previous games we’ve had from this developer and found that it was.
You’ll find the games menu system exactly the same as Monster Truck Deluxe, with a range of levels to play, but these have to be unlocked and you also have a few different trials bikes to choose from, which are also locked. The levels include, Flyover, Rusty rods, Bridges, Sunset Hills, Underground, Insanity, Lonely Rock and Roundabout
When starting a new game you have to set up your player’s profile. Once this is done you progress to the level selection page of which there are 8 levels. To progress from one level to the next you have to earn at least a bronze cup from each race. There are bronze, silver and gold cups to win, based on the time you complete each stage. You can replay any unlocked levels whenever you wish. There are two motocross bikes to choose from; the GrinderKRZ, which is unlocked and one locked bike called a Masterbike 3000. The previous game also included two more bikes called the Magnum Striker and Titanium Pro respectively, unfortunately these aren’t included in this version of the game (see the MyPlayCity version for more levels and a new mode). You can earn Nitro by doing back flips and summersaults, plus there's also nitro power ups that can be picked up. Use these wisely because you may find yourself taking off like a jet plane if used incorrectly.
The game reminds me a little of Trials 2: Second Edition, though Trials 2 has far more sophisticated graphics, more levels; that are much,’ much’ harder and also has a worlwide online scoring system. Trials Motocross: Africa appears to have no high scores table, though there are player statistics to be found in the menus. Races are based on times, but if you don’t attain at least a bronze time the game is null and void, that is, there is no record of your game play and you have to restart the level until you’ve attained a bronze, which will then unlock the next level. Even then the only evidence you’ve attained anything is through the games save system once you’ve won a medal.
It may be possible to ‘hack’ into the games configuration file to unlock all of the levels and bikes (for those who just want to be able to play any level right from the outset, or for those who find it hard to win even a bronze cup). The controls are straightforward, but that doesn’t mean to say the game is easy. Some will probably find the controls hard to use, but generally I think you’ll find it easy to control the bikes, especially with a little practice,; however, I’ll leave that up to the individual to find out.
I was able to whiz through six levels, attaining 5 silver medals and one Gold medal with no second tries. Unfortunately I didn’t find out that we were getting games this weekend until after 2 a.m. this morning, so have only explored the first six levels, and I’m not sure how you unlock a new bike as I didn’t have time, but I suspect you have to win a specific number of gold and silver cups before the next bike is unlocked.
I tested the game in win 7 Ultimate and Win XP Pro, and the game works with no hiccups.
Controls:
• ROLL LEFT – LEFT ARROW
• ROLL RIGHT – RIGHT ARROW
• MOVE FORWARD – UP ARROW
• MOVE BACKWARD – DOWN ARROW
• USE NITRO – Shift
• PAUSE/RETRY/EXIT – ESC
System Requirements:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
Processor 1 Ghz or better
512 Mb RAM
64 Mb of video memory
Conclusion:
The handling of the bike was relatively easy, though it may take some practice if you’re not used to the controls. Unfortunately only keyboard controls are available for this game., with no game pad support; however you may be able to use Xpadder a program that allows you to use gamepads in the place of keyboards. The latest versions of Xpadder are now commercial, but the freeware version can still be found if you dig deep enough. I liked the overall look of the game, but I already have a really good trials bike simulator called Trials 2: Second Edition that is vastly superior to this game (due in part to the better looking level designs and the ragdoll physics, plus theres a lot more levels; however, that said I’ll still be keeping todays giveaway for some light relief as it’s a much easier game than Trials 2, which I find almost impossible to beat.
Overall, if you don’t have any other games of this type, it’s okay for free and should give you some measure of enjoyment, but I think purists to this genre will find this too easy, the graphics a little to flung together and the game far too short. At the very most there’s an hours worth of game play and that’s if you need to repeat each level at least once or twice. I was able to complete the first six levels in less than 8 minutes.
The asking price would be reasonable at less than $5, but it seems we are only getting half a game as the MylayCity version is double the content. I do like this sort of game so am rather generous with my scoring giving this a 6 out of 10 for the physics aspect of the game. I don’t think it’s worth much more than the asking price (just under $5) due to the shortness of the game. Being able to complete three quarters of the game in less than 10 minutes is a shame and I would suggest to the developer that they at least double the number of levels available and also add a few modes to the game play to give the game some depth.
(edit , which I discovered the developer had already done as evidenced by the MyPlayCity version of the game. Why the developer is still pedalling this version is a mystery as the updated version is a better deal)
Other useful information:
Music:
There are three low quality MP3 tracks that you can replace if you don’t like the menu and in game music. I found it a very repetitive loop so just turned the volume down via the options menu. All you need to do is go C:/Program Files/cccpgames.ru/TrialMotorbikeAT\\Data\Music; (the path may be slightly different, so I'd keep an eye on where you install the game to). To change the music just select the three MP3’s you want to use from your collection and rename the files you use to Level1, level2, (no spaces) and menu, though from what someone said a couple of weeks ago, you may not even need to do that.
Other Games:
You can get a reasonable quad bike racing game called ATV Quadro Racing HERE, for free from Gametop. MyPlaycity has two trial bike games called Trial Bike Ultra and Super Motocross
Another free bike racing game called Moto Racing (which I think is better than the one being given away for free today), can be downloaded from HERE, though it doesn’t have the physics emulation that Super Motocross has. Monster Truck Trials the previous giveaway that is similar to today’s game giveaway, is also available for free HERE, though it’s had a name change to Monster Truck Challenge.
Here’s a couple more online trials bike games that can be played full screen called Bike Master, which you can find HERE and Trial bike Pro which you can get HERE. There’s also some newer additions to Gametops books such as Neptunes Buggy Online and Sky Track (which is similar to Star Racing).
There are more racing games available from Gametop, MyPlayCity and FreeGamePick and also some freeware and abandonware racing games available via the free games synopsis in the giveaway forums. You’ll find a sticky on the front page of the forums that'll take you to the lists of games. Trackmania is probably the best of the freeware games, but others such as the online game Darkwind and the abandonware game Death Rally (which was recently updated so that it will now play on windows).
If you don’t mind paying for your games, you can get a couple of excellent 3D Motocross games (that are rather old, but still look good and play well) called Motocross Mania and Motocross Madness 2 that allow you to move around a vast open world, and have several different modes of play. You can pick up either of the games below for less than today’s giveaway if you look for them on the net. I’ve seen Motocross Madness 2 (the better of the two games) for less than $5 on Play.com, though you may have to buy a second hand one.
