Treasures of Terphozen
In Brief
Got to this late in the day. See the description below the timer and green download button above.

From a very short try out (up to level 4) It's well constructed and gives you plenty of help, with information panels popping up whenever you encounter a new feature, such as switches, roof crawling, destroying bricks etc. I've included screen captures of several of the information panels below that also include the key bindings you need to remember. The graphic is of a retro style, but looks modern. Overall Treasures of Terphozen is a nice little platformer that I would recommend downloading and trying for yourself; it's deal for all of the family.

The latest game from Epic Games is called Creature in the Well, a top-down, pinball-inspired, hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

Please see Delenns threads for Steam and Non Steam freebies HERE and HERE respectively. It’s worth adding these to your favourites and checking regularly for available freebies. Most are only free for a specific time. If you miss the deadline you’ll miss out. Once added to your account, it’s yours to keep. The latest Steam game (as posted by Delenn yesterday) is Red Wings: Aces of the Sky, an arcade action game that puts you in the middle of WWI aerial battles. The game combines the action-packed dynamics of classic flight games with modern arcade gameplay and detailed, stylized 3D art.

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game and it found zero hits from 61 antimalware engines. The downloaded executable may include some low level adware that only opens your browser to Falcowares home page after the game has installed, but does not inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Falcowares home page it earns them some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away free. You can see the results of the scan via the following link:

It's 2021. There's no excuse why a platforming game shouldn't be compatible
with joysticks or gamepads. And this game is not compatible.

Jim,

Hi Jim, there are applications that will enable you to use a controller. The only one that comes to mind without research is reWASD, but that isn't free. There are free versions available that would enable you to use a controller.

Geoffcw,

Hi Geoff, If you managed to install the game, try going into compatibility mode and changing the configuration to Vista. (Right click on the games exe or shortcut and select Properties, then click on the compatibility tab. Under where it says Compatibility Mode check the box that says Run this program in compatibility mode for: then click on the down arrow and select one of the Vista options (there should be three). If that doesn't fix the issue try changing some of the other settings. Finally, go to the FAQ's thread over in the Game discussion sticky section HERE

Looks similar to "Lode Runner" that we used to play on a Commodore in the early 80s. It was always a favorite - best with a Joy Stick rather than mouse of keyboard.

Same as the other day. Error line 343. the link above did not help. It said no engines found this file; Treasures Of Terphozen.zip, but offered no solutions.

Paul Santos, Give the folder containing the game all permissions for the user. Or maybe just that file but I gave the whole game folder full permission.

Today you can make almost anything in your bedroom on a PC, music, videos, books and games. If this game was made for the ZX Spectrum back in the 80's it would have made the creator a lot of money. The value of creativity has plummeted. Good game and enjoyable.

Dave, Dave,

Totally agree with you. for example soon after RPG maker became easily available on Steam and certainly after it's appearance on one of the Humble Bundles several years ago (where you could get the latest version together with several dlc packs that added different themes and extra music) I saw a massive influx of RPG Maker games released on Steam. Most were pretty dire, but some had a lot of though put into them. There are a lot of different game engines now easily available and some are even free (though they do have asset packs that cost money). I have several game engines and lots of associated programs for making 3D models, but I'm too impatient to use them effectively, so have never actually completed any games (yet).

When I joined Steam back in Jan 2009 new games being released on Steam were around 1 or 2 a week. Now you can often see 10 or more released every day, most of which tend to be low priced amateur releases that sell for a couple of pounds or less. Developers have to pay a fee to have a game released onto the platform, but it's not too expensive so it becomes quite easy to release your game, so long as it works. Even rubbish games will make some profit because there are so many game collectors on Steam that they buy any cheap game just to increase their game count; (which is a wasteful thing to do. I was part of that until four years ago when I stopped buying almost everything released; though I was buying for a different reason i.e. I found new games seemed to help with my pain management more, so I'd buy games every day. Now I have a stupid back log of un-played Steam games numbering in the thousands; some of which are premium AAA games like Fallout 4, Just Cause 4, a few of the newer Total War games, a couple of Call of Duty games and at least the last four Battlefield games apart from the latest which I booted up several months ago.

Whiterabbit-uk, Indeed. I got the humble bundle RPG offer and also all the game engine offers when they came along like Gamemaker studio and App Game Kit. Same as you I never actually got to complete making a full game which is why I never bad mouth some of the lame games that are on here because the person who published them have achieved more than I have.

dave ,

:)

The first game I ever purchased for a desktop PC was called The Island of Artuan, it cost me the equivalent of around £50 in todays money. It was a text based adventure that was absolutely terrible and very short. I tend to compare most games with that one and so far there has only been one game I've seen here that comes close to being really bad.

Mark Collins,

Hi Mark, please check the FAQ's thread over in the game discussion forums HERE.

It may be your security that is blocking the download. We did have issues several years ago when trying to download via certain browsers as well. Can't remeber which though. Hopefully you'll find a fix in the FAQ's thread. :)
