I’ve still not got my computer completed yet. So the following is just some general information about the Treasures of Montezuma franchise. I'll be able to do a little moderation occasionally. :)
The Treasures of Montezuma 5
In Brief
The fifth and final version of Treasures of Montezuma with improved graphics (due to a change of developer, but unfortunately no un-timed mode available :(

We've already been given all versions of Treasures of Montezuma, i.e. v1 to v5 and apart from some minor innovations, all five games are similar, today's most notable difference is the updated graphics. You can read lots of mixed Steam community reviews of the game HERE, and a full review via All About Games HERE , plus the review I posted (incorporating the above full review; all my images have been deleted from my old post by the image host) plus all the community comments from Christmas Eve 2017 HERE. I concluded that 'The Treasures of Montezuma 5' is definitely not revolutionary, but it is one great fast-paced Match 3. The addition of an un-timed Mode would have appeal to a wider audience though. You can see several in-game videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

Whiterabbit-uk, been away for a while oh great white hoppity one, but I am glad to see you are still doing this. We should catch up on Steam soon. I am sure a lot has happened (and I hope resolved) for you, as it has for me. :)

Mavadelo,

Hi Mavadelo,
I'm in between computers at the moment. I've been upgrading my computer after the motherboard started to throw up issues via the Bios (eg CPU fan not working despite having replaced it after the message first popped up and the network hardware failing). I'm almost done, but not quite there yet.

Things are still pretty hectic w.r.t. the legal case I mentioned to you. It's now been over 7 years since we instigated the proceedings; unfortunately the British legal system is extremely slow, but we are nearing the end stage. We are in the middle of mediation at the moment. If that fails it will be going to the courts sometime next year. I'll be glad to get it done and dusted as we still have work to finish on the house. (which has been held up because of the legal case).

I've not forgotten your offer, and hope that once I've got it all done we can continue unimpeded. I have got hundreds of reviews that just need editing to remove certain links and add extra information and images. Plus I wanted to create my own videos for each of the games rather than link to others.

Whiterabbit-uk, will be sending you a message on Steam as some things I tell I don't want to post on a gaming page :) You understand when you see

Whew! Well, it's pretty fast and furious, this game - not a lot of breathing space once you start playing! But I've managed to get through the first section somehow, and I'll be going back for more once I get my breath back. I've played several of the previous Montezumas in the past and enjoyed them, and this one is just as bright and colourful, but faster and less forgiving as far as the time element goes. I would always prefer an untimed game if possible (it's an Age Thing, I suspect) but I'll be going back to this one until it goes completely out of my speed range, I reckon. Thanks for another goodie, to GGAOTD, to MPC and of course to Whiterabbit. Hope you'll get that computer sorted out soon, WR - your words are always useful to anyone unsure about what's on offer here.

Translated using Google Translate:

Montezuma is one of the best match 3 games. It has a bunch of features that are very rare or not found in other games.

The main feature is that in order to make the next move, you do not have to wait for the previous one to complete - only the tokens participating in the removed sets are blocked. This not only allows you to play faster (levels against the clock), but also makes it possible, if you are fast, to do tricks such as several exchanges with one chip and its movement several rows up (!), The ability to successfully and meaningfully (!) Exchange two chips the same before the same third falls on them and much more.

Unusual approach with totems - each color corresponds to a totem with a special effect (throwing fireballs into the field, recoloring the color, extra points, extra time, and more). Totems must be opened and subsequently improved. They do not accumulate, but are applied automatically when you delete groups of the same color in a row.

Bonuses (dynamite, lightning and others) for removing more than 3 tokens are also present, but they open later.

The levels have adequate difficulty, nothing obviously impassable, in contrast to the popular games now.

Hey, Mr. Rabbit. IMO, posting links to other/previous reviews is totally acceptable, so don't stress over not being "up" on the current games. :)

What about Relaxed Mode?

Carl,

Unfortunately the new developer did not included an un-timed mode.

A good match 3 game plays well on my windows 10 computer. I have played the first few levels it is fairly challenging with completing tasks before the time runs out, I am definitely going to keep the game.
