Just not happy with the site anymore. My connection is dismal at best and Steam and other hoops to jump thru, too much. Good bye.

Still can't be authenticated via twitter, just like many of the past things you've offered. Some script change has caused this as it wasn't a problem even 6 months ago for that.

You can not please everyone, i am happy to get a chance to win as opposed to no chance. I do not care for it either but i can understand, i do not like a lot of the games that are given away but on the other hand i have gotten a lot of games i do like for FREE. If you do not like the way the site is run you are not forced to use it. Even if it is a competition the winners still get the game for FREE. And as for the banner it doesn't say just games it applies to windows, games, iPhone, and android and everyday there is something for free for everyone that wants it. Thank you for the site i love it.

Rawson, psst I don't think you noticed that THIS is a different website to www.giveawayoftheday.com it may be operated by the same people but it is a completely different project and it does not giveaway software every day. In fact to prove the disconnect between the generic software and games software sites, the generic software site is at the time of writing advertising THIS competition AS A GAME GIVEAWAY that is running with the same countdown clock as todays generic software giveaway and big green go to download page even though it's a competition and not a giveaway AND the competition is OVER! So of course people are going to be dissapointed to find it's not a giveaway and it's now not even a competition its OVER! It is for all intents and purposes just click-bait for the advert impressions on this page!

We can all go download these software offers on torrents eventually
....but we choose to respect the creators and trial them with a registration code we are given.
We respond with constructive critism and even suggest to some developers how they can improve their stuffs.......and what do we get ?
We get .....
"Promote us like crazy on all your social media...
and IF we decide you have done all our dirty work.....
then you MAY be priveledged enough to have a license "

I say....stick your license coz I'm not here for contests and nonsense...
I come here for the GIVEAWAYS !
If this site still gives away anything I may choose to download it, then cool
....but........
lately its been the same kind of "Search and find" game for the last 5 years
and the same kind of "PC repair" software....over and over and over.....Zzzz zzz z z z z z
~Picks up napsack...and moves ON ~

I fully agree with #4, #6, and #8. If you say it's free... make it free... and, I don't deal with Facebook or Twitter.

Sven, not all developers want to give away thousands of free copies with nothing in return. This way, smaller devs get a much needed marketing boost. The alternative is for smaller devs to never participate here, leaving you with a smaller, less diverse selection of probably just mobile games to snatch up. Basically - consider it working both ways, to be fair on both sides - not just entirely for your benefit.

Mustafa Game, thats a very fair comment if it was applicable on a web site that gave away free games and also ran competitions to help developers promote their work.
BUT...I'm not sure if you noticed the name of this web site??
Does the title "GIVE AWAY" confuse you into thinking it may mean contests?
In my books...it means FREE.

Please change the banner near the top of the page.

"Every day we offer FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise."

As the statement is no longer true if you have to win it in a contest.

Jackorama, I've even tried addressing this incorrect caption also. That was at least 6 months ago. And what does it read even after this long? Now we have this incorrect game giveaway now with a trial? You bet.

I'd rather pay the 3.99 than join Farcebook and Twitter.

Reply   |   Comment by jeffrey  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

jeffrey, same issue for me for the past several of these types of offerings. No concrete explanation what changed but things were fine even 6 months ago for me. Takes the wind out of my sails for sure, esp since I have to share this and promote that to even have a 1% chance of getting a key from a 'giveaway' site.

Jon, Good to see that i am not the only one with this problem. So Give Away of the day whats the problem with the Twitter failure ?

Enter for your CHANCE to win in our RAFFLE of the day. Not game giveaway of the day anymore folks. Let's spread this truth as to not just voluntarily offer your personal information for some marginal chance to win a game.

Aww cmon guys ! This isnt fair ! Some of us DONT HAVE rubbish like Facebook and Twitter on their pc or phone.
Now we "get a chance to win" if we install all this garbage and advertise for you?
What happened to "GIVEAWAY"
...as in FREE
.....as in GIVE - AWAY
.....as in FREE FOR ALL
....as in FAIR FOR ALL?
What happened to that guys?

I Love this site and in the past 8 years as a GAOTD fan, I have promoted this site to friends,
reviewed software and checked for cool stuff on a daily.
Now its changed....and it makes me sad :(

Reply   |   Comment by Susan Queen  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+17)

Susan Queen, many of us feel that Giveaway needs to change their game giveaway to reflect the truth. Not some give you all my information for a CHANCE to win? That's actually misleading and far from the truth.

Reply   |   Comment by Jim  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Jim, Very True ! People have been coming here on a daily basis and sharing their personal info out of habit. In the interim, all our personal info is making people rich while we get spammed to death by advertisers in hope that we "may win" a game or two.
I can go to torrents and download all this stuff they offer here...but I'm decent enough to do it legally with a free registration code they offer us !
Have the damn decency to give us a FREE GIVEAWAY ...as this site so blatantly claims it does ...and stop having us promote you on social media, for false promises !
Its either GIVEAWAY .....or NOT !

Reply   |   Comment by Susan Queen  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Susan Queen, I'm one that has no use for junk like Facebook and Twitter!! I've read too much on what FB is all about, and I stay away from it. Besides, years ago, I had it, and I didn't like the whole set up. I'm just not into the whole social media bandwagon. Anyway, I've seen this site, have this kind of giveaway, for a long time now. I don't know why you've said that it's changed. This "getting keys", from doing the FB and Twitter thing, is not new. They have it every once in awhile. I just pass them by, and wait for the next one.

Jim, Not to mention the fact that the name "Game Giveaway of the DAY" is no longer accurate since giveaways occur only during the weekends and not on a daily basis. The giveaways for Android and IOS are separate websites, and typically offer old flash games that have been rewritten as "apps."
