Story of Fairy Place
Wow!, this was given away way back in August 25, 2007! HERE. It's a butterfly matching game, where you earn man, which when full enables you to repair the fairy's home.
I recognised it immediately as I really enjoyed playing it back then. I think I missed the actual giveaway as we would have been away on vacation towards the end of August, but I did buy the game later. It received a positive 86% from 723 votes and received 168 comments. This is back when we got quality games totally free from adverts etc every day and before the financial crisis of 2008 when arcade game prices dropped through the roof from an average of $19.99 to around £6 or less and is when the giveaways moved to weekends only. There were few free game sites back then and the games they hosted were often freeware already or very limited in choice. This site was extremely popular back then, as evidenced by the number of comments and votes cast. A sequel was given away later that year called .
As I mentioned yesterday, I'm really busy this weekend, so probably won't post a review I have added a few images from the first few levels and includes the story.

Don't forget to check out the giveaway forums. Delenn has posted the latest freebies, some via Steam, some via GOG ( War Wind and Hitman Absolution. You can find other free games via GOG HERE) and of course Epic Games weekly giveaway; this weeks Epic Game giveaway is the excellent survival game Ark Survival Evolved (usually costing £44.99/$49.99/€54.99 over on Steam) plus five DLC's for the game. Just pop over to the game discussion threads HERE and HERE for links to most of those games.
There's also a couple of new additions to the Indie Gala developers freebies HERE and HERE (Snow White Solitaire Charmed Kingdom and Spirit of Xanadu) and there's a free Steam key available over on the Humble Store for a 3D platformer game called Snake Pass HERE ; (usually costing £15.99/$19.99/€19.99).
Finally, Delenn posted details of an amazing deal earlier this week; it's a bundle containing 1,659 items called The Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. The bundle is available via Itch.io and is estimated to be worth over $8000+ (yes, that's eight thousand plus dollars) if you purchased each project individually. (The bundle ends at 7am Tuesday UK time) The developers of these games have donated their games towards this bundle and you can get it for $5 or more (if you wish to donate more to the charity) HERE; since the bundle went live, they have already received over six million dollars and exceeded the original goal of five million. Seriously, there are some fantastic games in that bundle. Celeste alone costs $19.99, so just one game in that bundle would still be saving you 75% if you were only getting one game, but you are getting over sixteen hundred games and that number is rising daily. Not all the games are in the league of Celeste and others (e.g. Oxenfree, Overland, Art Sqool, Wide Ocean Big Jacket, Hexagon, A Short Hike, A Mortician’s Tale, Quadrilateral Cowboy, Gunhouse, The King’s Bird, Minit, A Night in the Woods and Fortune-499), and some may not even be classed as games, for example one of the first items I cam across once I'd paid my donation was a pack of 20 000+ game assets to be used with a game engine called Construct. Also, all are free standing, requiring no activation keys. You do require a free itch.io account to get the bundle. If you've never heard of itch-io before, they host up and coming indie developers. Even if you don't contribute to the charity, you'll find many games, especially beta versions free of charge, though developers do ask for a voluntary contribution towards development of more games.

I recognized the game the instant I saw the screen. I had it couple of computers ago :-) and loved it. This time it threw me that the download was so small Aaah the good old days. I will play a level or two before bedtime to unwind :-) thanks. Stay safe.

2007??? Wow!!!
I remember getting this game and liking it until the bug it had which meant it couldn't be completed.

I really hope this version works because it is/was a really good little game.

I know I'm not alone on this comment, I just cant believe it's 13 years ago.

Wow didn't realize it was that long ago. I found the site before it went to weekends only...think maybe a year before. I used the handle CabLady then.

Although I don't download as much these days, I check both sides of the site almost every day to see what is offered. For quite awhile the offers were for games I already had or played and discarded. Lately haven't had an interested in playing what was here...but I still check as I know one day there will be that game or program that I just have to have.

Besides all that, need to keep tabs on WhiteRabbit to make sure he's doing okay! Hugs...take care everyone.

Oh yes - I too can remember playing this game, long, long ago - and on a rather different computer! In those days we had to pick and choose which programmes would stay on the computer and which could stay for a little while, but would then have to be dumped overboard to make room for something else. So although I did like this game, I wasn't able to get very far with it before time was up. But now I hope to get a bit more of the house built before I wave butterflies and fairy goodbye.

It's a sweet little game, prettily designed (suitable for all ages, I think) and attractive to watch while you're arranging all those butterflies to collect the manna needed to get the job done. It's a refreshing change from those modern games which just want the player to blast and destroy everything in sight, and I suspect much needed as we live through a difficult time in the real world. Let's all go back to making the world and all that's in it beautiful and worthwhile again!

Thanks for a very welcome reminder of younger days, and innocent games which made us feel happy and hopeful.

I downloaded the game many years ago, but there was a bug in the game that prevented it from being completed. There was one level that had too many locked pieces, and you could only make two or three moves before there were no possible moves left. I don't know if this version of the game has the same bug, but I doubt I'll ever get far enough in the game to find out, because this version has a bug, too. During the game, two different music tracks play together at the same time. It's very discordant, and renders the game nearly unplayable without the music turned off.

For some reason, this game decided it needed to take half of my second monitor over.. displaying on both.. hijacking the other stuff I have going. I haven't played yet...can't comment on that

Opal, I also have two monitors, but I did not have this problem. Win10 64

I noticed that the options include a selection of resolutions and an option of full screen or not. If you pick the highest resolution that is <= your screen's resolution and/or windowed mode you should find a way to play the game without it taking over both screens.
