At the turn of the 19th century, a monster lurks in the shadowy fog of Victorian London. A young girl has been trampled, a member of Parliament has been murdered, a street vendor has been assaulted. Who is responsible for these crimes? Mr. Utterson discovers that the case is not related to his friend Dr. Jekyll, but to the terrible individual staying at his house: Mr. Hyde. Find the ghastly link that connects the two in Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde: The Strange Case.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: The Strange Case - Extended Edition
Based on the 1886 novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, today's game Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde: The Strange Case is a hidden object game. You may find if you have a high resolution monitor that you may need to change the resolution because this game is quite old (I've not found its release date yet, but from the graphics and the hidden object game mechanics, it reminds me of HOG's I bought 15 years ago; not that older games should detract from the pleasure of the game, (personally I find a lot of older games far better (apart from the graphics) than their more modern counterparts).
I'm not going to post a review today as I don't have time to explore games this weekend, though I have included some screen captures from the start of the game. When you come to the screen that says open your eyes, just click on the blurred object in front of you four times to start the game proper.

Don't forget to check out the giveaway forums. Delenn has posted the latest freebies, some via Steam, some via GOG ( War Wind and Hitman Absolution. You can find other free games via GOG HERE) and of course Epic Games weekly giveaway; this weeks Epic Game giveaway is the excellent survival game Ark Survival Evolved (usually costing £44.99/$49.99/€54.99 over on Steam) plus five DLC's for the game. Just pop over to the game discussion threads HERE and HERE for links to most of those games.
There's also a couple of new additions to the Indie Gala developers freebies HERE and HERE (Snow White Solitaire Charmed Kingdom and Spirit of Xanadu) and there's a free Steam key available over on the Humble Store for a 3D platformer game called Snake Pass HERE; (usually costing £15.99/$19.99/€19.99).
Finally, Delenn posted details of an amazing deal earlier this week; it's a bundle containing approaching 1500 game projects called The Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. The bundle is available via Itch.io and is estimated to be worth over $8000+ (yes, that's eight thousand plus dollars) if you purchased each project individually. The developers of these games have donated their games towards this bundle and you can get it for $5 or more (if you wish to donate more to the charity) HERE; since the bundle went live, they have already received over four million dollars towards a goal of five million. Seriously, there are some fantastic games in that bundle. Celeste alone still costs $19.99, so just one game in that bundle would still be saving you 75% if you were only getting one game, but you are getting almost fifteen hundred games and that number is rising daily. Not all the games are in the league of Celeste and others (e.g. Oxenfree, Overland, Art Sqool, Wide Ocean Big Jacket, Hexagon, A Short Hike, A Mortician’s Tale, Quadrilateral Cowboy, Gunhouse, The King’s Bird, Minit, A Night in the Woods and Fortune-499), and some may not even be classed as games. Also, all are free standing, requiring no activation keys. You do require a free itch.io account to get the bundle. If you've never heard of itch-io before, they host up and coming indie developers. Even if you don't contribute to the charity, you'll find many games, especially beta versions free of charge, though developers do ask for a voluntary contribution towards development of more games.

Whiterabbit-uk,
at the bottom of the first screenshot it says © 2012.

Whiterabbit-uk, FYI, when I start up the game (I got it from the 2017 give away), it says copyright 2012. So, your guess of 15 years ago is close. ;)

In my opinion, the game is just boring. Outdated game engine does not add any joy.

Installed fine on Windows 10 64 bit home edition, with caveats: I used compatibility to allow the program to control graphics, and set it to run in Windows Vista 2nd Ed. compatibility mode. I had to run it full screen and this messed with my screen upon exit as it appears it runs pretty low graphics. In the options, I set brightness to maximum since I didn't want to change my regular settings and that was fine. You get extra clues by clicking on the stars that pop up, I discovered it's more than one per HOG screen so be aware you are not limited to just one additional clue per scene. I only did one scene so far and then it immediately jumped into another HOG scene, so I feel it may be one of those games where it's one HOG scene after another which would make it boring for me rather quickly. I will give it more of a try later when I have time to verify if this is the case or not. The first scene was obscured by what appeared to be a fog in the room, and that was annoying. The second one was outside and clearer, so maybe the "fog" was meant to be like "fog of the mind" as opium was mentioned by one of the characters. There's been little dialogue so far and I also noticed that to progress you often have to click on an arrow on the bottom right. I'm more used to just clicking on the dialogue window itself so it's a bit annoying but not a game killer. Overall, I'd say it's a mildly interesting to annoying HOG that some may like and others not. The theme is good, but there's a good chance I won't play this one through--only time will tell.

I played the game back when it was first offered. I remember the game and some of the elements. It's not that it's entirely memorable, really it's a typical HOG with a whodunit feel even though it's clear it's more like spy vs spy than a true case. Anyway, the play is generic, quite predictable and except for the visuals, is really not worth playing again once you solve it. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being dreadful and 10 being spectacular, it rates a 4 for craptacular. You can play the game though and decide for yourself. I'm just a picky HOG pro is all.

Sadly, for me, the game downloaded and installed well, but will not run. Error (v2,536). I think this games is made in 32 bit, and I run 64.

Judi Podgurski, While installing I saw files containing "win32" flashing by, so I think you're right.

Unfortunately it is impossible for me to play the game. I downloaded (very slooooooow DLs) the game twice and after installing it without any further hitches I get an error while trying to start the game. The message says: Error (V2,536) and some Chinese(?) characters. An error occured while loading. The application will now exit. So, I am going to de-install a second time. Pity...
Anyway, have a great weekend and stay safe :-)
