Game would freeze for long periods. When CAD finally brought up the processes screen, it was taking 90+ percent of the CPU.

Music was fun.

Thank you, Stephen...2 more games for my collection. I already have that site in my favorites, just haven't had time to check many of them out yet.

I will pass the gauntlet to you to comment in the appropriate forum about TrackMania Nations Forever. For anyone who likes racing games, they will love this one. The coolest thing is you get to design and race your own car. I made a nice shiny silvery/light bluish car with my name on it...hehe The control panel for designing takes getting used to, but there's no rush, so one can play around with it and have fun. I can never figure out the online part of games like this, but even if you can't, you can still race on several tracks and even try to beat your previous record. It's funny because when you run a track a second time, it shows a ghost image of your previous race right on the track, so to beat your last record, you just have to beat "yourself" to the goal...LOL

TrackMania Nations Forever is huge, takes hours to download, has lots of options, but it is so well worth it. Oh, and the graphics are awesome, too.

downloaded and played great game for pac-man enthusiasts. For those asking questions about the gun that shoots pellets on all the levels, those guns can actually destroy your pac-man costing him lifes. You can destroy guns if you press the space bar it will shoot a pellet at gun. some guns take a couple of pellets. Walls can also be destroyed by pellets from your pac-man using the space bar. Thanks GGOATD for game.

Thank you Brian Zachary comment #32 for the info about the second Trackmania game. I'd seen someone post about this over on one of the sites I admin and didn't really take any notice as I thought they were referring to the first Trackmania Nations game that was made abandonware a few years ago. I can vouch for the quality of that game, though it is technically an online game. I'll make a note of it over in the Wheeled games thread over in the Forums when I have time, unless you would do it. :)

As for today's giveaway, I think you'll find that it is a stand alone game which means you will probably be able to copy it over to other computers you may have any time.

IMO I think the Pacman game available free from Gametop is better than today's giveaway:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/pacmanic-download/

and there is another pacman like game available also from Gametop called Magic Pets:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/magic-pets-download/

Stephen

Thank you so much GAOTD for a game offer today ... The dsl download and setup took under 2 minutes on my Windows System and runs without any issues. I enjoy playing Pacman - and no quarters are needed!

I was not too disappointed in this game either - my hands are just slow with the arrow keys, the music is nice (most of the time) and the shooting ability is great! Not too sure I like the 'off-screen' bits, but I'll keep playing to decided. Thank you very much.

As usual, my review is over at the forum.

These comments are pathetic. Vista isn't Mac, it isn't Linux, and it isn't BSD or Solaris. It's WINDOWS. If a program runs in older versions of Windows, it will run in Vista, too! Even if it doesn't load after the first click, there's this little gadget called, erm, COMPATIBILITY MODE. It magically turns Vista into older versions of Windows! What a neat little tool!

Seriously, though, some developers just slap "Windows" on their compatibility list and call it a day. What an idea.

Installed and ran fine on Vista. Takes a second or so to load. The ygraphics are decent for this style of game. Played well. The one complaint I have is with the controls. They just seemed a little less fluid than i would have liked.

For the people having trouble with Vista. If you are running it as it was shipped, you have a LOT of services running that you will never use. Shutting them off will not only improve software performance, but will improve the system and stability. I saw about a 20% increase in processor response, and about 15% increase in graphics processing with just a few tweaks. I've never had a bit of trouble with Vista, but then I spent a day going through and optimizing everything.

I like this game. It's a fun way to waste some time. I find it funny that this game is offered days after I downloaded another game that is very much the same as this game. The game I downloaded is called Agent Chewer and is available at http://arcadestudio.com/. It is only a demo but I like it better than this giveaway. The only problem is I would not pay $19.95 for the registered version. Pacshooter 3d is a fine game. Thank you so much GGAOTD and Terminal Studio. This is the 4th game I have got frpm you from this site. You make some great games so I hope you offer us some more.

This is the first time I posted, but I love this game. I am using Vista Ultimate, and it loaded and works absolutely perfectly! I'm wondering for those of you who have problems with Vista if your computer has enough memory or has a fast enough processor to handle all of it. Anyway, for those of you who have Vista, know that it works, even at the highest resolution, which it lets you set.

Flat out won't run on an XP machine with a Radeon 9800pro card installed. Gives a generic error, and then attempts to run under a DirectX rasterization mode. You can listen to the music, but all you see is a black screen.

Uninstalling. Pity, because I thought my wife really might enjoy it.

This one installed and ran with NO problems on my Vista Home Premium, did not even try any compatability modes. Only tried it in 1024X768, maybe that makes a difference? Runs smoothly (but I have a 2.66 Ghz system). Game is challenging & fun. The only recommendations I would make would be to have the "ghosts" move on once they get you, instead of waiting in the same spot to get you again as soon as you re-appear. I'd also like a way to keep moving in the same direction even after releasing the arrow key (like the original game). Maybe another key could be used to stop. It's fun to be able to blast through walls and it brings a different kind of strategy to the game. Thanks GGOTD and Terminal Studio, I'll think I'll be playing much more of this one!

To #25 and the other Vista users...

You made the mistake when you went to Vista. I just bought a new laptop and insisted it had XP. If MonsterSoft doesn't support XP or upgrade, I'll be leaping to the Mac.

Anyway...thanks GGOTD. Regardless of the complaints this user (and many others) thank you and your awesome efforts!!

To punkymom2 (#46):
I've had that problem on games in the past. I found out it was either my memory or video card that needed to be upgraded, don't remember which. Never had a problem with a game that had anything to do with the mouse, but that's not to say that isn't the reason you are having problems with this game.

"Why cant more games be made to run under Vista? There are more Vista users than any other OS. Guess I will be skipping this one. I have updated everytning from XP to Vista. XP is going by the way of Win 98. Antiquated!"

I can't say as I agree with that. I don't know about there being more Vista users than XP users. Especially with users who buy a system with Vista and downgrade to XP because of incompatibility with their favorite programs and for other reasons. And XP is still going to be around for a long time, just like 98, which is still used to this day by people I know. Sure they may stop supporting XP, like they have with 98 and other older Windows versions, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to switch. I, for one, refuse to downgrade from XP to Vista aka Longhorn. If I ever leave XP, I will most likely go with Linux, which is becoming increasingly popular now, but that's me.

Now then, since TrackMania Nations Forever (comment #32) has finally finished downloading after several hours, I'm going to go check that out.

Originally played Pacman at the arcade and on the Atari 2600. They actually had a waiting list for the cartridge and it cost $50. Love the music. It contains songs from the 60's and 70's from the Beatles,Doors,Jerry Lee Lewis,Stray Cats and others. Graphically pleasing and the ability to finally shoot the little buggers is great.
Plenty of powerups such as glue that slows the baddies down, double fire,4-way fire and others and the ability to destroy some of the blocks.
The first level is pretty easy to get through on novice, but the second level gets a bit harder.
Installed game on both a Win 98 computer and a Win XP computer.
Ran great on the 98 machine, but encountered a problem with Iexplore after exiting game. Trying to access the internet crashes the machine.
Actually ran with a tiny bit of lag on the XP machine, but experienced no problems after exiting.

A note to all those who never have a problem running anything. You are fortunate indeed. All computers are different even with the same operating system. Between conflicting programs, anti-virus software,anti-spam software, firewalls, different processors, garbage that some programs leave in memory, junk abandoned in the registry and many other issues, some programs are going to have trouble running on some computers, even if they state they can run on a certain OS.

So, when someone says it won't run for them, please don't look upon them as incompetent and,if possible, attempt to offer a solution to their problem.

Thanks for a fun game!!

Pacshooter 3D stinks. I installed it and launched it and right away, my mouse wouldn't work. I use a digital art pad for a mouse, and it went crazy as soon as I launched the game. I had a terrible time finally getting the cursor to line up with the exit button to get out of the game so I could uninstall it.

Installed and ran fine on my WinXP (SP2) Home Ed. I initially played in the 800X600 mode then switched the 1024x800 mode. In both, the maze was too large to fill the screen which was a disappointment. There were various objects and special effects -- for what and how to manipulate them, I still have no idea. A How To Play/Help file would be beneficial. (How do you operate the cannon, or do you? What's the purpose of the swirling stars and dust? How many points for an extra life, or is there one? Etc.)

It wasn't until I clicked the "More Games" link I saw this maker also made the *Rise of Atlantis* game. For BOTH games, I appreciate that, in going back to my desktop after playing, the icons aren't all switched around -- they have been when exiting from other "full screen" games. STILL I would appreciate an option to play these games in a WINDOW, allowing ready access to my task bar.

All in all, a good game; a keeper. Even if I don't play it often, it's nice to have for guests.

John

The game downloaded and installed with no problem whatsoever. I have XP Pro on my machine. I played it for a while but uninstalled it. I don't care for games that scroll across the screen like this one does and I couldn't see any way to have it play in any mode other than full screen. Too bad, 'cuz it looks like a fun little game to kill time.

One of the worst games given away on the project (not counting those that didn't even run.) The music is appallingly loud (thankfully it can be turned down), the graphics are pathetic, the gameplay is mediocre, and it's nothing interesting at all. This sort of thing just cheapens the entire project.

I like it. It's a cool game.

Controls are easy, but like most keyboard-controlled games, it gets hard on the hands and fingers, at least for me.

The music is not distracting. In fact, I found it cool. I only played the first board and heard "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."

The only thing I didn't like is the board so large, it goes off the screen, so if a bullet or enemy is coming at you, you don't know until it shows on the screen and you have a short time to move out of the way. Oh and it isn't just enemies that shoot at you, but there are also cannons, but if you shoot them enough times, you can destroy them as well.

Lots of power-up items appear all over the place. I'd recommend this game for a nice distraction, if nothing else.

Now, for those of you who like racing, Download.com just put up a new game yesterday called TrackMania Nations Forever. It's supposed to be fun and the screenshots look great and it's completely free. Now, it isn't on the description page, but the file is more than 503 MB in size, but since it's free and there's no time limit, like with this site, even dial-up users might want to check it out. When I started downloading, it said almost 5 hours to go, and that's with high-speed cable at 100 Mbps and using DAP. About 32% done so far, so can't wait to try it. You can check it out yourself at:

http://www.download.com/TrackMania-Nations-Forever/3000-7519_4-10832111.html?cdlPid=10832112&t=1209207551015

I downloaded regardless of the negative feed-back cuz I'm a PacMan junkie. It ran great on my Vista. Set up whizzed by. Start up gave me a small white screen for about 20 seconds and then the game popped up. Looked for sound control immediately but just tuned it down some - the music was funky! No problem with any hang ups on going to different levels. If you like PacMan and have Vista - give it a try. Obviously people are having different reactions with the game.

Only thing I'd ask for is a description of what the bonuses are and what the machine gun does!
