Can't download: 404

I have a new laptop with a 1920x1080 resolution, higher than most. I am unable to make Sawoid work on my display (or is it something else?). The shooter moves right when I move it, but won't stay where I put it. It constantly returns to the left side of the screen before I can do anything with it. Too bad, this used to be one of my favorite Arkenoid style games.

Windows 7 cannot install it.

What worked for me just now, was to disable cookies from just game.giveawayoftheday.com temporarily. Hope that helps someone download it and perhaps the fixing it too for the staff here.

I don't think it's a problem with the giveaway servers. Thousands of community members have been able to download the game. Try clearing out your internet cache, sometimes cookies can become corrupted. It may be the game giveaway cookies have become so and are causing problems downloading. Also check the FAQ's thread found over in the Game Discussion forum sticky section.

All I get is Error 404 page not found, go to our home page & go from there. But that doesn't work either. What do I try next?

To get it work, launch the page with IE, or in IE Tab with Firefox.
Impossible to get it otherwise. It seems the scripts are bogus there.

Please stay White rabbit. This mess will be sorted out soon, like a storm in a tea cup - it will be different but not necessarily bad.
It also wont be the same without your valuable insights :-)

Thanks for your grasshopper insight Maurice :) I used to watch Kung Fu religiously when I was a teenager and would copy those pearls of wisdom into a note book every week when the series was originally screened in the early 70's

Win10 Home 64 bit Love this game and I am glad it has been offered again since my hard drive died. Love how you can go into options and change the screen size. The only problem is that the game only plays in 16 or 32 bit. Maybe next time. Thank you.

wow I tried to download game of today & I got a error page that says OOPS. What's that all about? That stinks I got robbed of my Sunday free game.

Finally the download page worked for me, this is one of my favourite games and of course I lost it by changing to another computer.

It's challenging and there is nothing what I would change, except for a steadier hand ;)

Nowadays I install the games on a USB stick, so I won't get caught when this pc stops working :) That works for almost all of the games.

thanks for the great giveaway. I had gotten this game the last time it was given way last year and installed it on my laptop. Now I can install it on my new surface pro 4. thanks to white rabbit as well for all does for this site.

1:42 pm and 404 error with both chrome and firefox

same mess as other people - 404 error - i am using Google chrome and tried Internet explorer but that didn't work either..looks hopeless for today's game..

I kept getting the 404 Error all morning. I deleted the cache in Firefox my default browser several times. Then I tried Internet Explorer. Clicking the game download link brought up the Share on Facebook that no longer comes up in Firefox. with the link to email me a special download link for the game, I clicked that, it sent the email, I clicked and launched the link in Firefox and finally downloaded the game. I don't know why the Share on Facebook no longer comes up in Firefox, I did create a special Facebook account via that link some time ago to get a game download. An account I have not used since. Don't know if Firefox or GOTD might be having trouble because of that account or not.

With Google Chrome i got the error msg again and again. When i tried with Internet Explorer everything was perfect without any error msg.

Web sites today like computer operating systems seem to get more complicated and "techy" than they used to be.When you get all comfy with something you hate to see it change, but with people change is always going to happen unless you live deep in the Amazon rainforest. If Whiterabbit finds another site to moderate,I certainly hope that he will let us all know where. Happy St. Pat's day to all.

The link is working. Thank you for contacting the developer and having it fixed. Sawoid never stops being fun. I love throwback games and this has always been one of my favorites.

Can't download, 404 error.

This is the first game I remember ever getting from here.... and it's still one of my favorites. Perfect for when you want to turn off your brain and simply destroy things. :) Recommended to anyone who hasn't already played it.

Whiterabbit: I thank you for Sawoid, one of my favorites, it was on my old computer which crashed-and-burned (lost all programs in the disaster), so I now can load and run this favorite once more. I rate it excellent, easy to learn, fast action and satisfying game play. I recommend it to everyone.

I understand the "growing pains" that this site is going through, and I sympathize with your and others' frustrations. First, let me say that I am no fan of change, I get comfortable with the status quo and don't want it to change. However, now that the owners of this site have elected change, I have no choice but to adapt. Or leave. And as things stand, leaving is not likely, so that means adapt. But most of all, I am a fan of Whiterabbit. They'll need a webmaster there, we are sunday, so it's probably dead for this giveaway. Shame.

This is a fun shooter game, it's similar to Egyptoid 1 and 2. Luckily I already have it and don't have to download now. Was looking for something new, used to be that maybe one of the two game giveaways on the weekend would have something of interest, guess basically one offering now with the Saturday contest type. Seems like when I first started coming here, there actually was a game giveaway - every day. I guess that's progress. Thanks GAOTD. Really do appreciate all the cool games and other stuff I've gotten here over the years.

Maybe you are right, I've not been happy over the past several weeks. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to navigate this new site. I can't even access my old reviews without spending a considerable amount of time scrolling back hundreds of pages.

With respect to the site disappearing. I doubt that will happen. There are thousands of community members visit this site. so long as there are free games, there will always be a community. whether i'll be there I really don't know.

Since the changes to the game giveaway site. I can no longer easily access previous posts. I've always re-posted previous reviews of games given away a second or third time. With the new admin panel I can no longer use a search function to find those posts and I can no longer edit directly from the giveaway pages like I used to be able. This has made it really difficult accessing those old posts because there is no search function on the new admin panel, instead, if I want to re-post a previous review I now have to scroll through individual pages to find the last time it was given away. The last time Sawoid was given away last year (July 2015) is now over 160 pages of giveaway comments. I scrolled back with the intention of re-posting my previous review on Sawoid, which took almost 15 minutes to do, only to copy the wrong post. I am not going to repeat the process, so there is no review from me today. You can see my previous post by following the link below:

I feel I need to respond to the massive backlash regarding the games now being offered on a limited basis. So far we have had two, Doors and Heroes of Hellas 3: Athens. These games are not meant to replace the game giveaways, but as an extra to give those interested a chance to win activation codes that will enable them to permanently own the games, be able to reinstall them at any time and to reinstall onto any computer. They are steam keys, which does mean you will need to install the Steam client. It saddens me to see so many community members complain about this new addition and to say they will no longer be coming to the site. Can't you see what the giveaway team are trying to do, it's been a struggle getting games free to give away to thousands of community members. They havve had to change the way the site works slightly to attempt to draw in more members so that they can continue to give away new games. Alawar, Playrix, Immanitas entertainment and other developers and distributors don't give these games away because of some beneficent Utopian ideal, they give them away in the hope that you will someday visit their sites and buy other games from their catalogs as many of you already have. The reasons the giveaway team have added the Facebook button is in the hopes that the game giveaway project will spread even further. The more community members we have downloading these games, the more likely those developers/distributors will see increased sales of their other games (and even these giveaways when those community members have upgraded their computers and find they can't live without particular games they have originally got from this site).

With respect to Facebook, I know many of you are not into social media for whatever reason, (I also do not use social media). You do not need a Facebook account , nor give an email to download these games. All you have to do is make a few extra key stokes to get your download link. i.e. click on the Facebook button, when the Facebook window opens, cancel it. The green giveaway download button will now appear (without having to have signed into a Facebook account), so, all these complaints about having to give out an email, or use social media are no moot. I don't want to go on as I'd have other, better things to do with my weekend, so please, just go and download today game (unless you already have it).
