The following review is a re-post of my review from earlier this year with some minor editing. I'm still waiting for my new operating system and a replacement motherboard, so won't be able to moderate much until my new system is up and running; I returned the first motherboard as I found a better version for the same price with more USB, PCIe and SATA ports, plus it had a fan cooled heat-sink for the two M.2 SATA connectors. Really pleased with it all and am looking forwards to returning to normalcy soon. I should be back as normal during the coming week. Stay safe everyone).

The Game:
Released March 19, 2014 by Rainbow games, this is the second installment in the Rush for Gold series. We were given Rush for Gold: Alaska last weekend for the second time. If you missed it again, you can still get it free via Gametop HERE.
Rush for Gold: California isn’t very different from its predecessor Rush for Gold: Alaska. The artwork style and game play are both similar. As with all resource-management games, the story is pretty thin in ‘California’. The opening cut-scene is cute with good voice-over, but that is basically all that it has.
As said, the look and feel of this sequel is very close to those of the first game – which is awesome! The artwork is exceptionally beautiful, super colorful and extremely detailed. The characters are funny and their animations are great. The game consists of 40 levels, and therefore, 40 scenes to admire. Each scene is different from each other which is what always keep the game interesting. The background music is lively and not distracting or repetitive.

If you are an experienced gamer, you may find the game play in Rush for Gold 2 to be the ‘same old’. All the features are what we have seen before in other games along this line. Still, they are well-implemented and the game is still entertaining as well as addicting. There are two modes in Rush for Gold 2, timed and un-timed; it is challenging to get three stars in timed mode while the un-timed mode is for those who want to relax a bit. At the end of each level, you can spend stars to clear grounds, build buildings and bring the town to prosperity.

Conclusion:
As said in the game discussion section, Rush for Gold California is very similar to its predecessor, however, if you love Time Management games you’ll enjoy playing this one. Personally I find them tedious, uninspiring and to be honest boring and stressful, so rarely play them (an exception is the first few Farm Frenzy games; though I stopped playing those after the third or fourth iteration as I felt Alawar, the original distributor of the franchise were stretching the franchise to much); that said, this does have an un-timed mode and I found it a little better than most.

Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Rush for Gold: California to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, you have a game to offer the community, or are unable to download the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve you can do so HERE
