Have you ever received a gift that came with bubble wrap and it was better than the gift itself? Now you can snap them anytime! No, this is not a simulator of bubble wrap popping...its a game actually where you need to pop bubbles on the screen with a nice popping water sound effect using the mouse. HOWEVER, the bubbles are color coded and so you also have to first hit the on screen key (ZXCVB) corresponding to the color of the bubble BEFORE you can pop it. 5 missed attempts and its over while if you pop enough (10 on level 1) you can move on...
While it doesnt give the satisfaction of physically popping bubbles like in bubble wrap, for a brief time waster to some this may hold some enjoyment. The main flaw is that it uses 5 keys for the colors and so you cant easily rest your hand on the 5 keys at once (Thanks, thumb) and so probably should be 4 rather than 5 or as a choice since some may like 5 as its more challenging. This also makes it difficult for lefties, and for righties would have to likely use 1 finger and hunt and peck to the correct key. The normal workaround would be to remap keys using something like keyboard manager of microsoft powertoys I've mentioned before to put some on the left and some on the right, but you also need the mouse in this game so all on the right most likely for lefties.
The display then would not show the correct keys and throws me off in that case so that didnt work too well in this one case. It would require that the developer allow remapping within the game so the keys are displayed properly that are chosen.
With a change to 4 keys (from 5) and remapping in the game, maybe it would be enjoyable for me as a leftie for a short time waster. Of course theres not much else to the gameplay so how long that would hold interest and choose to replay I cant say since I couldnt play through to see how the speed increase changes up the difficulty due to the issues being a lefty with the controls. Level 2 got a bit faster and multiple bubbles rather than 1. For me its a bit simplistic and lacks some of the interest of the match 3 bubble shooters out there I've tried which are actually pretty good in some cases.
Rating: C- (D+ for lefties)
