I've added another 120 plus games to the list HERE, so, if you've already chosen from the older lists but would like to change any of your choices, you are welcome to. I will assume you are happy with the choices you have made by Wednesday 15th March this coming week and will then send you the Steam keys. if you wish to join me as a friend on Steam you can send me a friends request my Steam name is Whiterabbit-uk, though it would also be a good idea to let me know what your name is as I do have over 50 requests pending. I usually takes quite some time for me to check these, but if I know someone is sending a request specifically I'll look out for it. I've temporarily opened up my profile to everyone, though I usually only allow friends to post on my profile, for now anyone can, so you could message me via my profile HERE, and I'll check to see if you've sent me a request, or I'll send you one..

The following community members have won a key or keys for comments they have made over the last few weeks. Please check the thread HERE and list at least three games that you'd like. I will endevour to email them this week.

Torque - for Turtix 2: Rescue Adventures

Whiterabbit-uk, Before I make my comment and suggestion understand that I have not done the "Join and Win" thing because I do not have a "facebook" account, neither do I intend to and without a "facebook" account one's chances of winning anything, which as I've stated in the past is not a giveaway, but a contest, is NIL. And so my comment leaves me out of the equation.

Don't you think that once someone has won a contest, won a game, that they should be ineligible to win another contest/game for a certain period of time or games, whatever you want the criteria to be?

I don't know how things are done in the "UK", but here in the "U.S." once someone has won a contest they are normally ineligible to win another contest for a certain period of time; this is especially true for radio contests. It gives all other contestants a better chance of winning and seems fair to me.

What do you think?

Hi Jon

I would certainly have agreed with you several months ago when the giveaways were not as popular. There were a couple of community members seemingly winning every competition they entered, and even when the odds were excellent ~( for example until around September the odds of winning were a good 50% or even higher. One particular game gave a 99% chance of winning, yet i didn't win one key and some won virtually every one. That's when I found out the email I was using wasn't the one I originally used, which is important apparently. I used a throwaway email initially, but that has now been sorted, but I'm still waiting to win a game for my son. As for now, the odds of winning can be as high as 20 to 1, so it's rare that someone is going to win a key every time, or even regularity. If you said they were not allowed to enter the next competition I'd probably agree, but how it would be implemented is another thing. Personally I've entered most of the competitions even when I've already purchased the game for myself, but only so that I can give it to my son, who is too busy with revision to bother entering but as yet I've not won one game. That said I did win one of the applications several months ago. I thought I'd won one the other week, but it was someone else either using my name or someone with the same name (my name is really common in the UK, I've even worked with a surgeon who had the same name as me).
Not all of the competitions require Facebook and all do have other alternatives to get entries. What not using Facebook means is that you have a reduced chance of winning, but you can still win if you enter as there are other ways to gain entries. I don't use Facebook as a social media, but I do have one specifically for these competitions. Same with Twitter. I've never posted a message on Twitter, unless it's one that is automated from one of these competitions.

Whiterabbit-uk, thank you! I actually love sharing my thoughts each week and reading others; community is great. I cannot reply to that thread with the list of games available---it says I don't exist :). Yet I can post here just peachy keen. I know which games I'd love, so I will try IM'ing you?

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Give me your Steam name and I'll send you a friends request, then I can send it to you directly via Steam. No one will see your name here because it has to be moderated first. I'll make sure your Steam name is deleted once I've sorted it. Alternatively you can message me via my Steam profile HERE. It's open access a the moment. i usually have it for friends only, but have opened it up so that those wishing to befriend me on Steam can do so by leaving a message, then i'll send a friends request, or they can send me one, though as i explain elsewhere I have over 50 pending requests and can take ages, so it;s better if i know your Steam name to make it easier for me to accept. :) Of course, if you don't want extra friends on steam, no problem. :)

Thanks, WR, no need; I was actually able to reply to the thread on GOTD by re-registering (existential crisis, being told you don't exist :)). Don't have a Steam name nor the Steam client, but I guess I will now, thank bto your much-appreciated generosity. Meanwhile, you've got my email and my username here. I'm so excited, and grateful! Hugs.

Hi neme

You are always welcome to send a Steam friends request anytime. I do sometimes pass on games directly from Steam (when I'm in a good mood).

If you are getting sound Problems thanks to xilolee, we think it's the Open AL drivers that need updating. Read his comment below

Please only post comments about today's game giveaway; other comments either inappropriate, or not about today's game will be deleted at the moderator or administrators discretion; however a little light banter among community members and with the moderator to keep this a friendly place to visit is acceptable and welcomed. All comments not specifically about today's game giveaway will be judged by the moderator and if deemed not appropriate, will be deleted with no explanation. Please see the end of this review for further details about posting comments and links to the teams contact, moderation policy and the FAQ's thread, thank you.

I had to disable my security software to install today's game. Just to note, that this game is no longer available free directly from MyPlayCity and other free game sites. It was removed last week, so don't miss out on this excellent match three game that is well worth downloading today, even if you feel you've had your fill of match three's. The mini game match puzzles are particularly challenging, but for the faint hearted, you can skip them if you wish. :)

Old Clockmaker's Riddle

In Brief

A decent Match Three game

Old Clockmaker's 002

Old Clockmaker's 003

Suggestions:

Whether you like or dislike Old Clockmaker's Riddle please give some feedback about your opinion of today's giveaway, for example, what you liked or disliked about the game, and how it could be improved from your point of view. If you don't like this genre at all, please explain why. Would certain improvements change your opinion? There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality? Giving such feedback instead of saying nothing or just saying this game is rubbish or or one word positive comments may bring more developers to the site, which could mean more and better games. Would YOU give away thousands of copies of a game (or extra content for a game) to a community that complains all the time instead of giving useful feedback? At the very least it need only take a few moments of your time. This site could be transformed if only the community would be more forthcoming in their opinions of the games they are getting for free instead of complaining about the way this site has changed or that they don't like Steam games. If something isn't for you then move on to the next giveaway, or check out the extra's section at the end of this review; you never know, you may find something that interests you

MyPlayCity had this free some weeks back, but it appears to have been removed from their library as all reference to it has been removed. I did find a link by searching Google, but it just took me to MPC's home page. I couldn't find it free anywhere else, so if you miss today's giveaway the only way you can ge it is via one of the commercial sites such as Big Fish Games. You can buy it HERE. It costs £2.99. You could get a 10 day free trial over at Shockwave HERE then play the game over that period.

Old Clockmaker's 045

Main Features:

Over 50 stunning and colorful levels
Use magical items to free gems
Return the town to its former beauty

If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Old Clockmaker's Riddle to work please visit the problems section, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE

The Game:

Life in a quaint country village is normal and safe until the town’s massive clock tower suddenly stops working. With the clock tower gone, a magical force takes over the down, destroying buildings and forcing villagers to flee. Through a bit of coincidence, you’ll come across this town and will be encouraged to help restore each individual building before this magical curse can become permanent.

Old Clockmaker’s Riddle outwardly appears to be a standard match-three puzzle game, as you’ll complete levels by creating matches of three or more like-colored gems, but the gameplay itself is highly polished and comes with enough user-friendliness to be appropriate for both beginners and veterans of the genre. For instance, you can continue to make matches even while other cascades are still disappearing, and you can choose to play either with or without a timer, depending on your preference.

Each level is split into multiple rounds, asking you to collect a specific number of clock hands that have been placed on top of gems to move on. There are obstacles and bonus gems aplenty, as you’ll encounter pieces that can be swapped by frozen pieces. Frozen parts will simply fall to the bottom of the screen, and even locked pieces won’t move until a match is made containing them. Just as there are obstacles working against you, so too are there power-ups that help you out, like arrows that wipe out whole rows or columns of gems, lightning bolts, and bombs that remove small sections of gems.

Old Clockmaker's 033

Old Clockmaker's 034

Both these obstacles and power-ups occur in levels automatically (or sometimes when you make a match of four or more like-colored symbols), but there are even more bonuses that can be purchased using the gems you collect in each level. As you’re guided through gameplay by the only remaining villager in the game, he will often have new items for purchase, such as those that allow you to break a single gem that might be causing you trouble, give you the ability to automatically collect all clock hands currently on the screen and so on.

Since time is such an important factor in the game, you’ll need to work quickly to restore the entire town, before repaired homes once again fall into disrepair and require a second visit. Levels become lengthier and more difficult over time, as the amount of clock hands required for each stage becomes larger and puzzle levels are added at the end. These puzzle levels ask you to clear out a set pattern of clock hands using a limited number of gems that don’t respawn, but these puzzles can be skipped without great penalty if you’d rather not take the time to figure out the solution.

Throughout it all, Old Clockmaker’s Riddle comes with some very poor English grammar, which can sometimes make power-up functions confusing until you’ve actually used them. On the other hand, the town’s graphics are charming and downright cute, with plenty of orange trees and strands of lights giving off the feeling of a town in the middle of an autumn festival. Within levels, the graphics work well, with most gems being quite bright. The only problem comes with frozen gems, as it’s sometimes difficult to tell which color of gem is actually frozen underneath.

Old Clockmaker's 004

Old Clockmaker's 005

In Old Clockmaker’s Riddle, there’s a focus on item collection, but it’s not as difficult as in other games: you can collect clock hands regardless of their location on the board, and you’re given enough power-ups and boosts that the gameplay never feels unfair. With so many buildings to repair over the course of the game, we would have appreciated a bit more variety in the gameplay (longer levels can become a bit tedious in lengthy play sessions), but this is still a solid match-three experience through and through.

Conclusion:

I enjoyed playing this match three. The occassional special match puzzles were quite hard to solve, thankfully you can by-pass them if you get too stuck, or you can redo them until you solve them. I give this match three a 7.5 out of 10. good graphics and a back story that adds a little interest.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away Old Clockmaker's Riddle and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games, in this case Steam keys.

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway:

The problems section that used to be posted here in the Game review is now included in the Game Discussion FAQ's thread; which you can find HERE.

I've updated the games section that used to be posted with the review. The thread is now called 'Weekly round up of game deals', formerly the games section of the weekly reviews. You can find the new thread (which I've posted in the sticky section of the game discussion forums to make it easier to find if you are perusing the game discussion forums) HERE.

Old Clockmaker's 011

If today's game giveaway 'Old Clockmaker's Riddle' didn't appeal, you may find other games either free or for less than the price of a cup of coffee via the 'Weekly Roundup of Game Deals' thread which I've posted a link to above, or HERE.
The free game over on Origin is now Siberia II. It is a third-person puzzle-solving game. Stylistically identical to the first Syberia, Syberia II improves upon the first game by introducing more realistic character animation. The game includes a recap of the first chapter, so does not require the player to have experienced the first game.. You can get it HERE. Please note that you do require the Origin game platform to be able to download and install the game.

You will also find lots of deals over on Green Man Gaming and Big Fish Games usually have 70% off the first game you buy from them, plus they also have other deals occasionally. Desura was purchased from Bad Ju Ju games last year by One Play. If you already have a Desura account you can read details of what is happening HERE. As yet you can't access games you previously purchased via Desura (I have around 1400), but One Play are working to recover everyone's accounts and hope to do so by the end of March 2017. Indie Royale will also resume on a weekly basis, though at this time I don't know if previous Indie Royale Greenlight bundles will be honoured? Alawar, Gamehouse and Playrix entertainment have free games available (usually online versions) and other game houses such as the AAA distributors Ubisoft and Origin always have some games on sale. I've updated the Weekly roundup of game deals HERE to include a large list of other sites where you can find games on sale ( e.g. Origin, uPlay, GreenManGaming etc, as well as links to free online games and other game houses such as Alawar, Playrix and Gamehouse plus gaming news sites such as Rock Paper Shotgun and Game Seek, and included a list of free to play Massive Multiplayer games such as World of Tanks, World of Warships, Liberators and Allegiance to name a few. For more details please go to the Weekly roundup of game deals over in the game discussion sticky section HERE.

Old Clockmaker's 015

There are 828 games on sale over on Steam at the moment, with up to 91% off. Game prices range from as little as £0.15p (most of these cheap games are actually cheaper in the UK than the US, so if you are a US citizen and have a UK friend, get them to buy the game for you). There are almost 200 games and dlc less than $1 and almost 250 for less than £1. You can find all of the deals HERE.

If you spend more than $3 in the Indie Gala store you'll also get a free copy of the old school anime rpg '200% Mixed Juice' worth $6.99/£4.99There's 60% off the enhanced version of Dying Light The Following, plus there are loads more deals with excellent discounts that you'll find HERE.

The Humble Bundle site has two excellent bundles plus their monthly package that is excellent value for money. A new monthly bundle has just gone live a few days ago. There are two game bundles, the Humble Jumbo 8 bundle plus the ArmA (Armored Assault) bundle that includes all versions of ArmA plus the original Operation Flashpoint which combined with it's expansions (Red Hammer and Resistance) was renamed ArmA: Cold War Assault for the 10th anniversary of the games release back in 2011 (The game was originally released in 2001). The ArmA franchise is my favorite FPS game ever. It's nothing like the run and gun FPS game slike Call of Duty. ArmaA is a tactical FPS game with realistic tactics and the last two in the franchise also look amazing, with large islands to explore as well as eaqsily created content through the level editor, plus literally thousands of extra missions downloadable directly from the Steam workshop or from the dedicated ArmA site Armaholics. ArmA 3 is amazing, but ArmA II is also brilliant despite being almost 8 years old. The Humble store features loads of discounted games (usually Steam codes). If you subscribe to the Humble Monthly, which costs $12 a month (or less if you choose various monthly plans) you not only get a large collection of decent Steam games you will also get for the first month of the subscription The Witness (worth £29.99), which was released last year (Jan 21016). The great thing is, you can cancel at any time, so only need to receive the first bundle of games. I personally haven't bothered, but only because I usually have already purchased most of the games included in the monthly bundle. The usual savings on the games you get are around 90%, not counting the introductory offer. There's also lots of games on sale over on the Bundle Stars and Indie Game Stand (IGS).

Giveaway Team Contact and Moderation policy:

Continued from the first paragraph at the beginning of this review ........... I am posting this in light of the massive increase in negative comments not related to the game being given away, inappropriate comments and spam (Almost 700 spam comments were posted over a 24 hour period last month ) that have occurred over the past several months since the site was updated and in particular since the site started using Facebook, Twitter and Steam. This is a site that gives free games away, so it's quite shocking to see the number of negative and sometimes inappropriate comments being posted here, especially when they are not even related to the actual game that we receive. I always though getting something for free was a privilege/perk/treat/ and deserves at least some thanks or gratitude and cannot understand why we get so many negative comments that possibly turn away potential developers who would otherwise have given the project their games. Of course we have freedom of speech, but as mentioned in my review above, there are rules to posting in this comments section; even a free society requires rules and regulations to run properly, so please bear this in mind when posting a comment.

Old Clockmaker's 021

Old Clockmaker's 027

I believe if we get lots of decent feedback about the games we get here, more developers would be happy to give away their games. Seeing lots of complaints (and spam) instead of feedback about the giveaways will not persuade other developers to give their creations away for free, especially when they may have spent thousands of hours working on the creation. So please bear this in mind when posting your comments. Any comment not about the game for example complaints, or if deemed unfriendly or inappropriate, will be deleted (usually with no explanation) or added to the spam folder, which automatically black lists the IP address you used. Although I have enjoyed responding to many of those comments in the past, I will no longer waste my time answering comments from community members who should have read the moderation policy.

Negative feedback about the games given away will always be welcomed because they can also be very constructive for developers, however, complaining about the way the site is operating or problems about downloading or installing the games or about Steam keys not received should be directed to the giveawayoftheday team via the contact form (with evidence of completed tasks, the name and email you used to enter the competition, or giveaway). I've linked to the contact form HERE; alternatively, if the problem is game related and it is late in the day (I can't moderate 24 hours a day), please also post your issue in the forums where you may get a response from the community. All games given away here have been thoroughly checked using several anti malware suites to ensure a safe download and in the 10 plus years this site has been operating, there has never been a game infected with malware. If your security software flags an issue, it's probably the Themida code that is used to protect the game from hackers or sometimes the non invasive adware that MPC games use. Themida code can also be used to hide malware, so some security software's will automatically block anything with Themida code, even if it's absolutely safe to install. also other computer configurations (i.e. the way you have your computer set up) may have blocked the install. Often, such problems are related to your computers set up. i.e. your security may block the installation (for example quite a few game giveaways I've installed have been blocked by my copy of Zemana Anti-malware suite) Also please read the moderation policy which can be found HERE and if you do have a problem please check the FAQ's thread HERE. Thank you for reading.

FREE game offer from the moderator in exchange for quality feedback:

There were some winners from last weeks game giveaways, which I mentioned in reply to their comments. Given a couple away so far, but still waiting to hear from others.

I've posted a list of over 200 Steam games in the forums HERE and will be adding more as time permits over the coming weeks. It is quite an extensive list of games taken from the 10 000+ Steam keys I've collected over the last several years; all were either purchased by me, with some )only a few) received free for pre-ordering games on Steam, plus a few from entering competitions and other offers). There will be a limited number of other keys available, such as Origin, uPlay and Desura keys (Desura has recently been purchased following the original owners demise and should be up and running by the end of March). I will announce the winner's from the giveaway the following week. If no announcement is made, it means no one posted feedback that qualified for a free game that week. There were no winners from the previous two weeks, though I am still considering a couple of comments from last week. I will inform those community members if I decide they are worth a game by email. If you have won a game, I will also post details in the thread I've created specifically for that purpose HERE. Once I've given a key away, the game and any comments by the winner will be removed from the list the following week. I will assume if you don't reply within a few weeks you aren't bothered about a key. Please post your preferences (list at least 3 games in order of preference over in the forums HERE. Thank you. Happy gaming.)

Depending on the quality of the feedback, I may choose to award games to more community members for each game given away, 'at my discretion'. The feedback must be about the game, and it must include a couple of paragraphs of feedback following the guidelines I've posted in the suggestions section of my review. i.e. your opinion of the game, what you liked and/or disliked plus suggestions for improvement. If you choose a game that is very cheap I may give you a second game; so, when choosing from the list I provide, please list more than one choice. If a game is chosen by more than one community member and only one key is available the key will go to the one I deem the most useful. I do have multiple keys for quite a lot of the games I've listed, so, don't be put off if you see someone else has chosen the game you want. I haven't indicated any of the games I have multiple keys for (though for example I do have several keys for the excellent Western themed AAA game Call of Juarez, which i picked up for free for purchasing several games via the Indie Gala store several months ago. spending a few dollars got me a copy of the game, so I made several separate purchases over a couple of days while the offer was still live.
I do own at least three community members a game from the previous giveaways that I posted several months ago. I'd totally forgotten about those. I do have a document with their names on, so they will get a game from the original list when I find the document (I'm extremely disorganized); or they can peruse the new list and choose something different. Just post a comment over in the forums in the appropriate thread. If you do post feedback with a view to getting one of the games and think you have covered the requirements, you don't have to do anything until I announce the winners the following week.
Please remember, this comments section is mainly for feedback about today's game giveaway. If you're not sure, read the moderation policy, which you can see HERE

I downloaded this game early on Sunday but hadn’t been able to get around to playing it till yesterday. It looked rather fun and it hasn’t disappointed me!

I didn’t have any sound problems (Win 7 64-bit Home).

I like the way this has two forms – Timed and Relaxed. I’ve been playing Relaxed to begin with so that I have time to get used to the gameplay and the bonuses etc. Hopefully I’ll get on to Timed before too much longer.

It has a good back-story and wonderful graphics. I like that there (so far) don’t seem to be too many “flashes and bangs” – as I’m approaching a certain age these don’t do anything to thrill me. It’s got some good humour to balance the trickiness of the gameplay (I’m trying to work out the logic of the first bonus level and so far I’m ashamed to say that it’s eluding me, but it’s good to have a workout for the brain!). The initial tutorial was very clear and I hope that the subsequent ones for the various add-ons will be equally so.

So far I haven’t seen anything to comment on negatively (except for some rather odd wording towards the start of the game – this doesn’t usually worry me as I accept that many of these games are written by non-English speakers and I’m pretty tolerant of their possible shortcomings when translating). The only thing that slightly confused me was that when I exited, I was taken to the MyPlayCity website – doesn’t usually happen when being given a game via GAOTD. However, it’s just one click to exit so where’s the problem?!

Thanks to GAOTD and MPC for what looks to be a great game.

Never mind, as soon as I clicked the send button it went directly to DeLenn's comment, where you said to go to xililee's comment. Now, what is open al?

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

It's a driver similar to direct X that controls graphics and sound. Just Google it for a download link. :)

Well, I like the game! It functions just fine and it looks good. Movement is smooth but there's no sound. I looked in the Options, and yep, sure enough....there's supposed to be sound. I exited the game and tested my computer sound..everything's normal. I restarted the game..still no sound. The first bonus puzzle was a good one..I had to restart it a few times..I like puzzle games. I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit. I keep it upgraded. Not sure what the sound issue is but at least it doesn't prevent me from playing the game. Thanks GOTD & MyPlayCity. :-) P.S. This Captcha is like those trick birthday candles that won't stay blown out! LOL But, I made it through it.

Please read Xilolee's comment. He found a fix. i.e. install the latest Open AL drivers. Several community members who had the sound issue have reposted to say it worked. :)

Hi,

The game took some time to downloaded and opened quickly. The graphics are very good.
The story is simple and everything follows in order. I have played a few levels and its a simple match game
with harder bonus levels. You restore the town house by house so far. Perhaps something more than buying tools between rounds to perk it up a bit! A little something to do or a bonus from the house owner with a little more interaction. If you enjoy matching games, you will enjoy this one! Thanks for another good game and have
a great week! Lee

There is no sound, but it is a ok game. I was tired of match games but decided to try this one out. It is a challenge and had to give up on the last 6 or 7 bonuses. So thanks you guys for the chance to try this.

Win10 64bit Home. Installed the game, played well with no problems but the sound. So I did what was suggested and now have sound. One question. Do I leave that file somewhere? Or can I delete it. TIA

Oh and thanks for the game. I like it.

Hi Suzanne

Once you've installed the Open AL driver you can delete the file you downloaded.

Hi Stephen!

Downloaded fine to win7pro, don't know about the sound as I rarely use it for games. Truth is the laptop got tipped off the bed and the external speakers quit working, so I have to use the earphones if I want to hear something and just don't for games.

Cute game, like the graphics, seems to work fine so far, only got in about 6 boards but so far so good. Love that cat that pops up in the window...and is that a balloon floating past in the breeze or a clock hand jewel?

Speaking of match threes, quite some time ago there was a discussion on here about Fishdom.....and yes it does continue counting past 1 billion earned.....am on game number 9248 and thinking it is totally unlimited as promoted.

Another commenter stated she like the HO games....I do also but all the ones offered here recently come from MPC and I have or have played every HO game they have Also those on TMKYS and GameTop....they haven't added a new one in several months time, I check every week or so. Saw the one in the contest today, but I don't play steam online stuff and can no longer get into the account I set up some time ago as I don't remember the name and password I used.

off subject, time leaped ahead today....wish they would just do away with that mess! :D

BTW, that not a robot thingy, hard to even see what some of those pictures actually are!

Hi LadyLei

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding your Steam account. So long as you remember which email you used to set up your account you should be able to recover it. There are many free games available via the client, not just free to play online stuff but fully free games, many of them single player as well.

Okay folks

I'm retiring early, I promised to watch an episode of that series called Stranger Things. I purchased the first series via a Chinese outlet last month and have been promising my son we (me and my wife) would watch it with him, so we are going to watch an episode before we retire for the night. I will return around 6.30 to 7.00am in the morning to continue moderating. There doesn't appear to be a Monday competition this week (though there has been a Steam game in the lists for a couple of months now), but the Whispering Willows competition still has two days to run. (ends Tuesday morning 8am UK time)Well worth entering if you haven't already. You can check it out HERE
If you have any problems such as the game not installing, or sound problems, please read the comments from the community and in particular Xilolees comment. Also, you may need to turn off your security temporarily to install the game. good night

For those that have a facebook phobia or don't want the world to see they got something for free and are not willing to share the loot with others.
It took me 3 minutes to setup a fake facebook profile, this includes making a new gmail account (as fake as f*** as well)
In this day and age, having a facebook account can have many benefits and that is not just on this site. I can understand that people don't want to post their whole life on FB and that this might be a reason why they don't want facebook to begin with. However, for those already having a facebook account but unwilling to share (for whatever reason) the giveaways with their friends, you can set the share to "only visible to me", for those not wanting to go on facebook... it takes making the account (fake or not, up to you) and link it the first time you enter this giveaway. You never ever have to get on facebook after that first time, you can forget about it if you like. Yet, since this site knows the account to use, whenever you click the share buttons a post will be made to the fake account. Nobody will ever see it (guaranteed as your account will not have friends or your post is only visible to you)
To make a facebook account, a plain and simple facebook account, only a username (first and last name, I used Mavadelo as first and Wolfden as last) and a valid email (regardless if you use it or not, I made a gmail.com account, I will probably never ever use it) and of course a password. for "age" you can set any date you like (but make sure, just in case, that you are at least "21 years old") for "country" you can set any country you like. Now.. when you encounter "post to facebook" pages you can do so without the whole world knowing it is you. The same works for Twitter as well

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Totally agree with you. :) Still each to their own. If someone really doesn't want a F.B. or Twitter account, that's their prerogative, but they are losing out on some excellent chances to win some decent games and software as other sites a re now starting to use these methods to give away stuff. simply becasue F.B. and Twitter are excellent methods of expanding their community base.

Reply   |   Comment by Mavadelo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Mavadelo, True, to each....
Time for a proper review (not a whabbit review but my feeble attempt :) )
Sorry, I can not play without sound, it grosses me out, no joke. However, the fix suggested by xilolee worked for me as well. The download is safe and small, install takes less than the blink of an eye (for me, Windows 10 64 with 4 gig ram)

Gameplay: As most match3 games go, the only difference in them is the goals to reach. In this game, you need to collect a certain amount of clock hands. Doing so you earn gems/tokens which can be used to buy upgrades. After each normal level, there is a bonus level. This level asks you to remove all the clock hands on the screen within a certain amount of moves. you can undo a move, restart the level or even skip the level. However, for now, this bonus mode is actually the most interesting part of this game for me. The puzzles are already challenging at the first levels and I imagine they can become real brain teasers.

As for the upgrades, these are the usual suspects. Hamer, multi removes, etc.

Looks: I think the looks of the game are nice. A gloomy town as "map", a friendly old man to guide you and sell you upgrades and the playing gems are bright and colorful yet not to "candy"

Sound: the music fits with the looks. However, I fear that the music will become repetitive and boring fairly quick. Just play your favorite jazz album on VLC, turn music off and keep the other sounds on an audible level. This way I think you will enjoy this game the best possible way.

Although I am not the biggest fan of Match 3 I find this an enjoyable game, like I said, the bonus levels are for me the cherry on top. Thumbs up 7/10 (still... it's match 3, what you expect.. a 9? whahahahahahaha)

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Thanks for the feedback Mavadelo, the first to earn a Steam key for today's game (I think). I'll add this to the list in the forums HERE. That'll be two games to claim, plus of course that anime I promised you. :)

If you liked Old Clockmaker's Riddle you'll probably like Cursed House as well. A slightly different take on match threes again in the way you finish off a level); with similar graphics to today's game.

Reply   |   Comment by Mavadelo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Mavadelo, Thanks :) But I take a rain check on that game for a while for reasons I think I told you on Steam :) Besides that, No Man's Sky got a massive update that I need to play, World Of Warships still has a freemium ship for me to win (plus ranked, currently I am rank 8) and I still need to start on a few other games (planning to restart and record Skyrim)

I figured I posted so much today a proper review should at least be one of the postings :D

I preordered No Mans Sky and still haven't played it apart from leaving the space craft for a short jaunt. While today, was trying to play some of my Origin games such as Need for Speed: The Run, which I got stuck on at a particular point three or four years ago where I had to escape from a crashed car before a train smashes into me, but after failing multiple times and wasn't able to proceed further until accomplishing the task, which basically inolved doing multiple key presses prompted on screen, but I was never quick enough, so kept failing and dying. I restarted the game some moths ago and have just returned to it again. Then I stupidly checked their deals while getting this months free game Siberia II and ended up firstly buying the latest Need for Speed, which has 60% off at the moment; then saw a bundle with Battlefield 1 Deluxe and Titanfall 2 deluxe for 67% off (was £116 reduced to £39.99), so bought those as well. eek! and there's me trying to cut down on spending. However, both the Battlefield and Need for Speed franchises I've followed ever since the first games back in the mid 90's (NFS)and early 2000's (Battlefield 1942 onward), but decided last year not to pre-order either as I have always done previously for both franchises. Really looking forwards to checking out both games soon as I am for No Mans Sky. There are just too many games being released at the moment. I want Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands and the soon to be released Styx: Shards of Darkness, Train Sim World®: CSX Heavy Haul, NieR: Automata™ and Dead Rising 4, though due to the unforeseen purchases on Origin, I think I'll be leaving most of those until the summer sale now. Maybe purchase Train Sim World®: CSX Heavy Haul and NieR: Automata to keep me appeased, lol.

Windows 10 64mb, downloaded with no problem, again, had to disable antivirus so it would install.
Fun little match 3, with the option to play timed or relaxed.
Interesting story line if you want to follow it, but it's not mandatory if you aren't interested, and just want to get to the game.
Nice variation of bonuses that help complete the levels, and interesting variation of increasing difficulty of completing levels, by making multiple, consecutive, screens of items to play.
It's a nice option to be able to skip the bonus levels, because some of them can become maddeningly difficult to complete.
Overall, I would recommend adding it to your Match 3 library.
One odd thing when activating it, I got a message saying:

This giveaway is not available
Secrets Of Six Seas was available as a giveaway on March 05, 2017!

I don't know why it did that, but it had no effect on this giveaway.

Yup, I did it: sound problem fixed, i.e., now the sound works.
I hope this will work for everyone with the same audio/sound problem.
Enjoy it! ;-)

What worked:
- go to https://www.openal.org/downloads/
- download "OpenAL 1.1 Windows Installer (zip)"
- Unzip it
- Double-left-click the installer to install it

Direct link: https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip

Before trying that, I tried to:
- play with compatibility modes, in the shortcut properties
- play with the registry settings about the game of today
- play with the audio/sound settings
- unplug the speakers jack (i.e., using only the headphones jack instead of both)
- register the "openal32.dll" in the game folder with the regsvr32 in c:\windows\system32
- register the "openal32.dll" in the game folder with the regsvr32 in c:\windows\syswow64
- put the "openal32.dll" in c:\windows\system32 and register it with regsvr32
- put the "openal32.dll" in c:\windows\syswow64 and register it with regsvr32

xilolee, I love you!! Thanks for the fix.... my sound now works also. I tried to do all updates etc suggested by WhiteRabbit. As I'm running Windows 10 on a 8 year old machine, I was running into difficulties trying to figure it all out... if it would actually do any of it at all anyway. Found out that any HP built before 2013 is not having its driver updates supported by HP any longer - or at least as far as the Realtek driver. Throw Windows 10 into the mix and HP doesn't even want to acknowledge its existence as far as my desktop goes!!!

xilolee, thanks so much for all your effort!!! (And surely a prize-worthy post, eh WR?) Your help saved me a lot of time and troubleshooting, and I honestly don't think I would have found the audio driver solution on my own.

Having no sound is not a deal-breaker for me as I like this game very much and often play other games silently, but this one is much better with the sound. This game is a quick download, very easy to install (with the usual temporary disabling of AVG), and fun to play. The graphics are bright and attractive, and gameplay is not boring with bonus puzzles in between the main storyline. It's otherwise problem-free, and a definite keeper for me.

Buster and WR-UK - Stephen:

I still have so many GGAOTD games to start, but the "problem" here is that I still ain't using steam, and my machine is also not so powerful (Pentium g645, 6GB ram and no video card).
By the way I was glad to learn (I can't remember when I read about it here) that those games can be installed and uninstalled at our choice, but they'll remain available.
Last but not least, I'm scared it could be addictive! :-)

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Unfortunately Steam is very addictive, at least for me. since joining in Jan 2009 I've accumulated almost 10 500 games and 5200 dlc's plus almost 3500 items in my inventory including almost 450 duplicate games, (some of which are high end AAA games). See my profile HERE. It's by far the best gaming client around, with an excellent community, a great store and market, where yoiu can sell items, for example before they added telephone authorization ( I don't use i Phones or androids) I made over £1400 selling the trading cards that you get free when playing certain games. So long as you sold them when they were first release you could get a decent price for them as collecting sets gives you others things. There's also a great news area plus a fantastic workshop where you can add mods and other extra's to many games at the click of a mouse. if you want to remove the mod you click again to unsubscribe and the mod is removed. The client only takes a small amount of space and uses very little RAM (unless you are downloading a game). 6GB is ample.

No problems Windows 10 x64 Pro. Sound options ok, nice graphics on Relaxed mode tho maybe on Timed might get bit tricky to sometimes spot the clock hands on a blue gem compared to the other colors. Didn't try Timed yet to determine that visual.
The bonus round has a replay feature which helps when a Limited set of moves to solve the puzzle. All in all for a fast run the game looks like a winner of 8.5/10 for freshness.
Don't let the posts about sound issues get in the way, just try it for what it is. Thanks.

G'day,
I am having a problem that has been happening the past few weeks w/ games here. They d/l just fine but when I open them, and click on the activation icon, it opens and loads as always, but once it is done, it gives me the activation window that when it closes, takes me to TGOTD's page, and nothing else happens after that. No install. This has happened on the past 4 games. I really want this game today. Tell me what's happening plz. Besides this going on as of late, I have never ever had any problems w/ these games. Thanks!

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

It's possibly your security that is blocking the game. It has done so for several of the games we've got recently for me and other community members as well. This is becasue the giveaway files are wrapped in a Themida based wrapper to protect the game from hackers. Unfortunately Themida can also be used to hide malware, though in this case it's not. As I've said many times the giveaway team have been giving away games for over 10 years virtually every weekend and for the first 16 months of the project virtually every day of the week, and have never given away a dirty game. They always check all games thoroughly with several anti malware suites to ensure they are clean.
There are three things you can try, the easiest is to temporarily turn off your security, install the game, then turn it back on, or you can try white-listing the giveaway files with your security software and finally reboot your computer into safe mode with networking then install the game. Each one should fix the issue. you may have tio do it with all of these games, but it is worth trying initially without doing them to see if it installs.
The giveaway team were forced to add the Themida wrapper about 3 years ago becasue it had become common knowledge how to rip off the executable easily and then be able to install the game at your leisure any time any where. Some community members were even posting details on blog sites and you tube showing how to do it. this was impacting on developers giving us games because their games were appearing on Peer to peer sites.

Hi Kathi. :-)

GAOTD users reported problems with these antiviruses/firewalls, in past months/years: Avast, Avg, BitDefender, Comodo, Kaspersky, Norton/Symantec, pados.hu TinyWall, Zemana antilogger/antimalware.
If you have one of those AV, you could try these possible solutions:
1) If the package has been correctly downloaded, right-click it, click properties and:
- Win8, 8.1, 10 users --> tick/select the unblock checkbox, click apply, click ok.
- WinXP, vista, 7 --> click the unblock button, click apply, click ok.
2) If the package has been correctly downloaded, put the setup.exe and the setup.gcd (or their entire folder) in the whitelist of your antivirus
For Norton AV: open the application, go into Security, find the problem file, click on the hard-to-see Options at the bottom of the box, once there, you can choose to exclude this file, go ahead and open it.
3) Disable the real-time/on-access scanning, just the time to download/install the software (then re-enable that function)
4) Disable your AV completely, just the time to download/install the software (then re-enable it)
5) Boot windows in safe mode with networking, just the time to download/install the software (sometimes this is necessary with kaspersky antivirus)

By the way in these months/years, almost all the engines on the mentioned web services that are problematic for some GAOTD users, i.e. AVG, AVIRA, AVAST BITDEFENDER, KASPERSKY, (NORTON) SYMANTEC, showed NO PROBLEMS.

Hi Rosalind

See my reply to Delenn, there may be possible fixes, though Mavadelo has tried most of them i think and still has no sound. I'm not of much help as I don't have that problem, so can't fault find to try and fix the issue. hopefully some one will come up with a valid suggestion before the day is out. :)

I had no problems installing it and playing it. It's a fun little game. I have Win10 64 bit with a decent sound and graphics card.

Glad you're not having the sound problems some are having. :)

Turned off my security while running setup so it installed with no problems. The install started giving me false positives for a Trojan about a month or so ago.... I think Norton must have done some kind of update.
Running on a Windows 10 64 machine. However, like the other comments here - no sound. All sounds work fine when I'm doing anything else on my computer so I think it's something in the game itself. I can open up options and adjust my sound for music and sounds - just don't hear anything, even with sliders all the way to the right.
That aside, it's a fun match 3 game. I like the graphics and the mini-games (although I haven't gotten past the first one yet). It will be a definite keeper for me, even with no sounds. I'll just listen to the sound of my brain rattling around in my head!
Thanks WhiteRabbit and GGOTD for another free game! It's appreciated.

Thank you for your feedback granny, I didn't have the issue with sound. It worked fine for me. Maybe it's a driver issue? Try updating your sound drivers including direct X. If you have a sound card such as a Sound Blaster audigy, go to the manufacturers web site and you should find a link to their driver section. To find out what sound card drivers you need open up the direct X diagnostics panel by typing dxdiag in the search field. Then open up the sound tabs to see what drivers you are using. Then go online to see if they have been updated. I've posted a comment to Delenn, which may help. I'm also going to check my Registry later to see if I can find anything that may help there.
(At least when I have time - I'm really busy trying to motivate my two children to do some serious revision for their upcoming exams at the moment. Both have very important exams, especially my sons who needs two A's and a B grade to get into his first choice university (Manchester) to study for a Master of Pharmacy. (They leap frog the Bachelors degree in Pharmacy for some reason). He's done really well having been given offers at all of the universities he's applied for, though I still need to keep an eye on both of them and keep them motivated as they are typical teenagers of this new age. (I keep having to confiscate my daughters iPad and her computer, and make her use the lounge computer where I can keep a better eye on her, which she absolutely hates. Callum, now 18 is given a little more freedom as he is finally maturing, but still takes advantage if I don't check on him occasionally and help with revision sessions. Something my parents never bothered with and consequently that and a miners strike that saw my school closed all winter and half of the Spring due to no heating, meant I didn't get much teacher to student time in my final year, consequently I ended up getting poor grades in most of my exams, which were not good enough to secure a place at university at the time. I ended up going several years later as a mature student once I'd served my time in the army and had done night classes to attain the grades I needed. Please excuse the unnecessary waffle. ;)

Thank you for all of your suggestions WhiteRabbit (as you can see, I'm not using that wonderful list of how to do things in this forum that you sent me... lazy today). I tried to do all of them, but my 8 year old machine running Windows 10 threw a lot of roadblocks in my way. Whatever I did and was able to do, however, seems to have speeded things up, if not solving my sound problem. For the sound problem I thanked xilolee. I have NO idea what that program was - where it comes from - where it goes - but it worked! My thanks to you for challenging me to learn more about my computer and its components! I wish your children well on their exams.... having a parent so supportive and interested in them doing well is a gift. I don't think I would like to go back to my girls' teen years! Challenging at the least..... I'm so very proud of you for going back to get your degree. There are too many people who would have just thrown their hands up, complained how life wasn't fair, and that would have been the end of it. Do not ever apologize for "unnecessary waffling"!!!!! I love your side stories - they're told so well, too. Thank you once again for all the help you've given me, and everyone else, through the years.

Thank you for your pleasant reply. Glad I don't bore you. :) I've always tried my best to advan e myself, I spent over 10 years at university once I finally got there mostly having the time of my life and is where I met my wife, now of over 27 years, though we didn't marry until 1996. My first career was through trade training in the army, where I trained as a telecommunications technician (basically a glorified telephone engineer), then I did a biological and biochemical degree, then another higher degree in environmental sciences looking at heavy metal pollution in the environment and its effect on man. Then I trained as teacher, but to teach what I really wanted to teach i needed some health care experience so trained a nurse. (always trying to find a niche I'd be really happy in as I've always believed you should work at what you love doing. I finally got the job I really wanted (teaching health care professionals health and social care, when four weeks into the job I had my accident and was forced into early retirement. all those years of training and studying gone to waste. Couldn't believe it at the time. Especially as I was sent home with a broken back and serious head injuries that was diagnosed as sprain and bruising. took me 9 years to get justice for the medics mistakes. Actually I did also work as a professional photographer for a while, but it spoiled the love of what was a hobby of mine since my childhood thanks to my grandfather who worked with a cinematographer called Sam Hannah. He used to take me all over the place when filming and always let me into his darkroom, where I became fascinated with photography. he gave me my first SLR camera at the age of eight and I used to spend hours setting up trick photographs. Okay, there I go again, :)

We all have it in some measure, some more than others, but only because of circumstance. I can thank my grandparents for the way I am. i spent most of my childhood living with them becasue my mother couldn't cope with three children. my sister was looked after by my other grand mother and my brother by my mother. My brother is the black sheep of the family, though he did have a semi successful career in the music industry back in the late 70's/early 80's. He was a member of a punk band called the NotSensibles and did get some records into the UK charts. He played along side a lot of the what were to become the big bands of that era such as The Cure, The Cult, Simply Red, The Clash etc. One of his records was even re- released when Margaret Thatcher died and went back into the charts a few years ago (Called I'm in Love with Margaret Thatcher), apart from that he's been unemployed virtually all his life. He could never hold down a job for long, preferring to stay in bed and let down a lot of people who tried to help him. Unfortunately I don't see him much these day ever since he stole money out of my bank account which put us in serious debt for a while.

Although very disappointed not to see my favorite adventure/HOG type game for quite a while here, this Match 3 sounded different enough to warrant a try. D/L and install went fine (once I remembered to turn off Avast temporarily---sigh) BUT, as others have mentioned, no sound! Sound working on the computer elsewhere and the options are set properly. Since others are mentioning it, this is clearly a broken program.

Did play it for a little bit just to get a feel, and I like the idea of the interspersed puzzles because they get me thinking in a different way. But it feels like this could get boring pretty fast. I never thought I'd miss sound on these, but I do :).

Hi neme

Did you check your comments from the last few giveaways? I decided to award you a Steam key for a game of your choice from the list over in the forums HERE. As for this game. I tend to play these arcade games for short periods in between the more extensive AAA games such as The Elder Scrolls, ArmA 3, other RPG's and shooters such as Battlefield and Mass effect games. I find most of them pretty repetitive after ten minutes or so, so rarely play them for longer, but I do enjoy those moments as they tend to be easy going and not requiring much in the way of thinking, apart from some of the puzzles. I was just playing one of my Big Fish games earlier after posting the review for this game and though the game called Cursed House had a similar feel to it, though the match threes involve dropping keys down to locks or creating matches opposite runes that after several matches are destroyed. Both games were very enjoyable in small doses.

Love this game! Would love it more if it had sound though. Have played it on my tablet (with sounds) and it gives the brain a bit of a workout. Thank you!

Hi everybody and Whiterabbit-UK. :-)

Preamble: I'm using Win10 home x64, DEP always on, UAC enabled with max level, custom scaling 150%, resolution 1920x1080, color depth 32bit, refresh rate 60Hz, Win10 Defender, Win10 firewall.

No problems detected after doing pre-scans and post-scans with Defender, SAS, MBAM2, EEK, GSAM.
No problems detected after I sent the package to virustotal and metadefender (too big for jotti and virscan).
I won't repeat the same false positives for GAOTD setup.exe found in last years using those services.
No problems during game download, its installation, its startup, changing its options.

By the way, I can't hear any sounds, audio and/or songs (windows UAC sound works when starting the game).

Thanks to the GAOTD team, in particular to Whiterabbit-UK!
Follow the white rabbit, guys!
Thanks for the game MyPlayCity!

xilolee, Did you do a DirectX test?
I did not install the the yet, so I cannot say anything to help.

xilolee, Mavadelo
I did install the game in Win10-64 Pro.
And NO sound.
Several other games from Playcity have sound(yesterday and Turtix).
Dxdiag did not found any problems.
I did update the Audio(Via). Vdesk had a fault about OS64.
I used the URL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of5JVGxsi6c
But still NO sound.

Thank you for your feedback Ootje, I'm going to see if I can find anything in the registry that may help. in the mean time see my reply to Delenns comment. Thank you.

Ootje, it's not a DX problem. Just for the heck of it I ran Dxdiag while running the game, no errors

Thanks Mavadelo, by the way, you've won another key.

Fix: download/install "OpenAL 1.1 Windows Installer (zip)" from openal.org
See my second comment (19th comment, currently).

xilolee, Thank you very much
I do get music/sound.
Original I did a test on one machine with Win10, Win8 and Virtual WinXP.
Also I did a test on another PC with Win7 and a other audio, Realtek.
I did use your ZIP and it took 2 seconds and it works.

Looks like an interesting Match3 game, even played the first level but... I have no sound (all other sounds on my system work fine) in fact... the game doesn't even show in my volume control. Any ideas?

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

See my reply to Delenn. As I didn't have the problem, it's not as easy to fault find?

Reply   |   Comment by Mavadelo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Mavadelo, noticed I had an nvidia update, installed it, restarted, tried game... No sound. I doubt it is a driver issue

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Thanks for your continued help. My main problem is becasue the sound works for me, it's difficult to fault find. I will check the registry later to see if I can find any keys associated with the sound for this game. You could try playing the game in compatibility mode for a different operating system. That may fix the issue????
