In Brief:
New Yankee in Santa's Service is our second late to the party Christmas themed game, three days after the twelve days of Christmas ended..

It's one of many time management themed games that include building elements that we have been given over the years since this site started back in 2006. Using Santa's helpers (elves) clean up the area by removing rocks and piles of wood that block pathways, also collect wood by chopping down trees, then use the wood to repair bridges. Plant vegetable gardens then harvest them to keep your elves from starving. You'll also find food hampers to help with your food resources. Finally to be able to complete many of the objectives you'll also need to mine the gold scattered around each level and build more homes for your elves to increase your work force.

Santa has tamed all the polar bears that live up in the North, but you still need to keep an eye on them because they may steal your valuable crops and food hampers, which the elves require for sustenance so that they can complete objectives in time. If a bear does try to steal food, rapidly click on it several times, this will alert Santa, who then scares them away. You also need to beware of other more insidious baddies such as ice witches and rabid snowmen that you can also scared away by the same method. Each level has specific objectives to complete. Ultimately you have to find Santa's reindeers so that he can deliver his gifts to the children of the world.

Complete all objectives before the time runs out. The quicker you complete them, the better chance of being rewarded with a gold cup. If you finish over the gold cup time, then settle for a silver cup. If you don't want to be stressed by the timer and decide to take things easy; then, settle for a bronze. :)

You can speed up your helpers by collecting mana phials, which are used to activate spells by Santa via the wishing well. Once you have enough Mana, click on the well to activate the spell.

The game was originally given away by Alawar Entertainment on the 20th December 2015, where it received a positive 78% from 256 votes with 29 comments which you can see HERE. We've also had others in the New Yankees series for example New Yankee 7: Deer Hunters (July 2021), New Yankee in King Arthur's Court 5 (Nov 2020), and the original New Yankee in King Arthur's Court twice HERE (Nov 2019) & HERE (June 2017).
You can see a few videos of game play HERE, HERE and one via the Steam store page HERE.

You can also see some Steam community reviews of the game HERE as well as Big Fish Community members feedback HERE.

Conclusion:
We've had lots of these Time Management (TM) games with a building mechanic included, featuring elves and dwarves over the many years this site has been running. They are the only other Time Management game that I find enjoyable together with the early Farm Frenzy games, because the time pressures don't feel as stressful as other time management games like the food preparation and running restaurant type TM games.

Overall, I recommend downloading this game, it'll keep you occupied for a few weekends at the very least. Levels do become increasingly more difficult to get gold, but I'm not too bothered about that side of the game. I already dropped from Gold in level one to silver for the next few, though I've not yet been awarded a bronze ;)
Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found 3 hits (VBA32 Jiangmin & BitDefenderTheta) from 67 antimalware engines. These (number) are amongst only several antimalware suites that often tag TooMKY Games compared to most better known and more reliable antimalware engines, so it's almost certainly a false positive.

You can see the completed scanHERE.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Further Notes on Security
The downloaded executable for installing the game 'may' include some low-level adware that only opens your browser to Toomky Games home page after the game has installed and when you shut the game down. It 'may' also place shortcuts onto your desktop; however, these can safely be deleted once the game has installed with no effect on the game.

The installation DOES NOT inject any malware into your system. When your browser is opened to Toomky's home page following the games installation, it earns them some money, part of which is given to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be given away for free.

If you're still not convinced of the games efficacy and want to be absolutely sure that the game is safe to install, please use a sandbox program before installing it to your C: or other drives on your computer.

Personally, I've never had any issues with any of Toomky Games.

There are free sandbox programs such as Sanboxie, GeSWall, BitBox, Windows Sandbox, Bufferzone (a six month commercial license was given away via the applications side of the project back in December 2009 HERE), Shadowzone, as well as others. (You'll find them all on the same page from Techwhoop.

First, IMPORTANT NOTICE: You should try any of these Toomky games you're interested in even though you have an old 32 bit machine. It's clear that Toomky has altered their advertising code, such as the code that opens your browser to Toomky after you've played the game, an agreement they make with GGOTD to incentive them to offer games for free. This new code is causing folks with older computers to get the standard Windows "not a valid Win 32 application" when they try to open the game the standard ways. But the games are usually older, and therefore they are Windows 32 bit compatible. This one, for example, has reviews on Big Fish games which date back to around 2013. Which also explains why the game's actual playing area basically fits in - was made for - the screen space of an old non-widescreen monitor (a 4:3 ratio monitor).

To get the game to work you need to go into it's folder and double click (if your machines not set for single clicking) on the icon that says "Game", not the game's name icon, in this case the icon that says "New Yankee in Santa's Service". None of the usual ways will work: not the desktop shortcut, not the start menu shortcut, not a quick launch shortcut. Only going into the game folder and clicking on "Game" will work. Of course, you can substitute or change the targets for those other shortcuts to a shortcut from "Game", and then you can open them without going into the folder. You can create such a shortcut by right clicking on that icon.

As to today's game, wasn't going to try because I thought I had it on a broken computer and I had found it before to be a bit of a grind to play, but I've come to the conclusion that was probably the 1st game in the series. This one seems nice enough, a bit cluttered, because the elves mill around when not active, just another purposeful distraction which ups the difficulty of the game, but it's seems a reasonably challenging - and reasonably entertaining - style of game play.

Thanks Toomky, GGOTD, Whiterabbit, and the community.

Hi Gamer, I didn't delete your comment. Possibly one of the admins did as I've not been online all day. Was away from home for most of the day.

This is the second day in a row where I am unable to install a game. I have never had a problem until yesterday. The installer checks the server then says program activated but never installs. I have disabled anti-virus (ESET) but get the same results. Any ideas would be appreciated as I have always enjoyed the New Yankee series. I have tried on three separate computers (2 laptops and a desktop all running windows 10 pro)

AV8R, When I started the download, I was asked what I wanted to do, I clicked open. Then when the download was complete, I got a message that a temp file was missing and when I checked the files, this game didn't show up in any and the original box asking what I wanted to do with it showed the download as deleted. I went back to the screen that had the big "click to download" box and clicked on it again and it started the install process as usual. I did have that issue before (yesterday? my short-term memory is a little shaky lately) and did the same thing. I don't know why and have forgotten more than I ever knew about computers it seems, but try hitting that download button again. I did use the Facebook option. I really hope this makes sense to you.

AV8R,

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away from home for most of it. Open your event logs (type Event viewer in the Start menu search option), once opened, try installing the game again, then check the logs. If there was an issue with the game, there's a good chance it will be recorded in the event logs. You can often tell what the issue is from those logs.

"The installer checks the server then says program activated but never installs. I have disabled anti-virus (ESET) but get the same results... I have tried on three separate computers (2 laptops and a desktop all running windows 10 pro)"

Ran both the setup.exe & setup.gcd files through VirusTotal, & Eset passed both. I would think then that the problem is occurring with Eset monitoring the setup's behavior. You could try turning off other options in Eset, which may or may not work, or maybe adding setup.exe & setup.gcd to Eset's ignore list. Installing the game while running Windows in Safe Mode works, since the Eset software won't be active, though booting into Safe Mode can be a PITA in Win10/11. Since you're running Win10 Pro you could also install Windows Sandbox, & install the game there, since I don't believe your Eset software will be active in the sandbox. You would have to add a mapped folder to the sandbox in a .wsb file, then copy the installed game's folder to that. Once you have that game folder where you want to run it, you can create a shortcut to the game.exe in that folder.

"When I started the download, I was asked what I wanted to do, I clicked open."

1st off be careful, because ads with a big download button are common, and could lead to unwanted downloads, including malware. Once you download the file it's in the Zip format [e.g., NewYankeeinSantasService-qo83du.zip] -- extract it to a new folder using something like the free 7zip, or open the file in Windows File Explorer & copy the files from the .zip file to another folder, running them from that new folder. Running the setup or installation file [setup.exe] without doing either of those 2 steps is error prone.

Jackie, I got a good download, or at least I think I did however I did download again to be sure. I rebooted in safe mode with networking and was able to install but only in safe mode.

Whiterabbit-uk, as I mentioned to Jackie above, I was able to get it installed by booting into safe mode. I suspect it has something to do with my ESET AV. All 3 computers have it. Disabling protection didn't work but the program is still running. Scouring the event log, nothing popped out to me however I worked all night and only got a couple hours sleep, so I very well could have missed it. Thanks for the tips, both you and Jackie. I'll try next week as think it may well re-occur.
