The Game:
This is a reasonable time management game with lots of variety and fast moving game play, though it does get a little repetivitve later on. I tend not to like this type of game, but I must admit to enjoying this somewhat.
You can see a full review of the game via Gamezebo and lots of mini reviews via the Steam community
Also, you can see several in-game videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway:
Thanks to Delenn for the heads up on Dog Duty an isometric real time tactical game that's free on Steam HERE at the moment. The deal ends next Monday, on the 11th November 2019. Don't forget that Epic Games have two new games to give away this week, i.e. Nuclear Throne a post-apocalyptic rogue-like top-down shooter and Ruiner a brutal action shooter set in the year 2091 in the cyber metropolis Rengkok. Next weeks game starting on the 14th November is called The Messenger a classic action platformer with the main protagonist being a ninja. The game soon unravels into an expansive time-traveling adventure full of thrills, surprises, and humor. Finally check out the forum thread I've posted HERE regarding a share of the rewards for subscribing to the Humble Monthly bundle. Though Delenn has mentioned that the Monthly bundle will be changing soon.
For anyone interested in trying out the Elder Scrolls Online for free. They have a free to play event that ends on the 13th November HERE. I play ESO regularly and have clocked well over several thousand hours since the Beta program back in 2013. A brilliant role playing game IMO, with a massive open world to explore in either first or third person viewpoints. I've recently posted a review/ my thoughts on the game over in the forums HERE and will be adding further information such as examples of various regions of the world called Tamriel. There's also links to the first two elder scrolls games released in 1992 and 94 called Arena and Daggerfall. They have been free to download for years. They are dated, but are still excellent games, though you may need to run them through DOSBox?

I've been using giveawayoftheday for over 10 years never had trouble installing the software until about a year ago. I always disable my virus program before I start to extract it. I have tried running it as administrator, set the trust level to application or installer but no matter what I try it doesn't install all the time. It does pop up a window saying that it was successfully activated but can't find the program anywhere. Anyone have a fix?

Cee Alto, Yes, the game is in the folder where it was unzipped.

Cee Alto, well, don't expect any help from the moderator. He's just going to ban you from the site for complaining about things that don't work right.

Cee Alto,

Sometimes when you expand [unzip] the GOTD download you'll have the regular installation app -- other times you'll see a smaller setup.exe along with a .gcd fille. In the 2nd case, when you run setup.exe it unpacks the app's installation file & runs it, then once that installation routine is finished, and the installer app closes, that GOTD setup.exe program will show a message window that the GOTD is installed. Sometimes however, the installer for whatever app or game's on GOTD that day doesn't work, but all the GOTD setup.exe app knows is that that installer is no longer running, so it assumes things went well and shows the message that it's installed. That's why you see that window pop up saying that the GOTD installation was successful.

When that happens, the most common reason that the installation app didn't work, is because the installed security software did not let it install the software. And in that case the fix is to change the installed security software to a different brand, e.g. if you're running win10, maybe use the built-in Defender. The work-a-round is to boot [start] Windows in Safe Mode with networking, so that the services for the security software do not run, install the GOTD, then start Windows normally. *In some cases* you **might** get away with turning off a portion of the security software, but that often does not work.

You can find all sorts of info & discussion on this topic on various GOTD download pages, in the forum, in the blog etc.

Cee Alto,

Hi Please excuse the late reply, been busy most of the day. See Mikes reply, which will hopefully allow you to get the game installed. Also check out the Game discussion forum sticky labelled FAQ's, which you'll find HERE

If you still continue to have issues installing the game, (or any other) the MyPlayCity (MPC) download will give you the same game. The MPC version does contain a folder that includes software for installing browser add-ons, but I think that has been disabled for quite some time (as in I've installed MPC games directly and haven't seen any additional add-ons in my browser. They used to install an MPC add-on and change your home page to MPC. You'll still get the adverts while the game is installing and browser redirection when you close the game down; however, these are not malware, but a method for all parties concerned, i.e. the developer, the distributor and the community member to get what they want. i.e. the developer gets a cut of the advertising revenue that the distributor earns whenever your browser opens to their home page and you get a free game. Nothing is physically installed to any other part of your computer other than the software contained in the game folder and it will not spy on you or do any other malware oriented action.

You can download the MPC version HERE

Susan Dey,

The only posts that get deleted and a ban added are those who post spam or constantly dis the giveaway site for not giving them the games they want, or constantly use inappropriate language on a site that is dedicated to family.

This comments section is reserved for comments about the game whether they be positive or negative. I never delete posts that pertain to the game being given away; however I've been allowed some leeway and do allow some friendly banter and suggestions for other free games that are available at this time.

As for banning someone for asking for help, which Cee Alto was, I will always try to give appropriate advise as do several other community members, like Mike, when they can. I'm only a volunteer here and do not have as much time as I'd like to spend helping those with problems getting games to work.

You comment is out of order and may be deleted at some point today as it has nothing to do with today's game. I just want you to see my reply as it appears this is the first time I've seen you comment here, at least with the name you've given.

Cee Alto, As Mike said, it's likely that your AV software or similar security software is preventing the initial 'unpacker/verifier' part of the install from working. This initial part of the install also checks the date to ensure you are installing the software on the date it appeared on GDOTD and not at some later date.

Because of the way that process works, some AV software will decide it is 'dodgy' (it isn't!) and will prevent it from operating unless you temporarily disable your AV software for a few minutes: enough time for the 'unpacker/verifier' part to run; though personally I leave it disabled until the 'real' install program — created by the 'unpacker/verifier' has completed successfully.

For example: I use Avast!, and when I am ready to install a game from GGOTD, I disable the Behavior Shield component of Avast! for 10 minutes, THEN run the GGOTD setup file.

There is probably a similar feature in other AV programs which — when you disable it — will allow you to run a GGOTD setup; but I'm only familiar with Avast! Maybe if you tell us which AV you use, someone else here can help you with that?

You said you've used GGOTS for years, so it's possible/probable that a recent update to your AV program has 'suddenly' stopped the GGOTD security wrapper (the 'unpacker/verifier') program from working.

I hope that helps?

I'm getting the same thing. Says its installed, but nothing. I have no security software or virus protection, so I dont know what is up. This is the first time I've had an issue with GOTD programs. Sad because I love the time management games!

Whiterabbit-uk, once again I think you've wasted your precious time on someone who didn't deserve a second glance from you. FWIW, I think you do an awesome job and deserve a commendation for your commitment to this site and tolerance of the morons whose lives are apparently so pathetic they think it's ok to give you a hard time... And because my comment isn't directly about the game I will understand if it gets deleted...!
