My Exotic Farm was available as a giveaway on July 31, 2007!
My Exotic Farm is a 3D breeding simulation with 5 categories of animals which produce eggs, meat and milk. To expand and develop your farm, you have to build new elements: fences, berry bush, drinking trough, etc.
Take on the challenge and build the richest and most beautiful farm of the country!
At the begining, all you own is a single little ostrich, a field and few goobas, the local money… Well fed with seeds, your ostrich will lay eggs which you can then sell to the Village. In exchange, you can buy, at the Great Market, new animals…

Ingenious is easy to play, but very difficult to master! Conquer the board through the careful placement of rows of colors. With every move, you create new possibilities. The more colored pieces are placed next to each other, the more points you can gain. The color that you need the most points in is the most important, because in the end, it will decide who wins or loses.
Help biologist Dr. Rose Thompson with her experiments in the creation and preservation of new species of flowers! Combine different combinations of free-floating proteins and cells to cause chain reactions, which will help grow all kinds of amazing flowers. Make sure she fills her daily quota before time runs out.
In this unique puzzle adventure, the world of Kuros is dying. As a descendant of the Elemental Masters, it is up to you to restore Kuros to its once beautiful state by harnessing the powers of Wood, Fire, Water, Metal and Aether. Powerful and ancient Glyphs hold the key to restoring Kuros to its former beauty. Break through layers of rock by matching Guardstones and uncover the mystery of the Glyphs.

A fun game. I missed, the "MyFarm" so I imagine this to be similiar, but with exotic animals. I found it enjoyable for the 2 hours or so, I played it. After that I had reached the limits of the 20 best animals and there was nothing more for me to do. I would like to see a "MyExoticFarm v2", with more animals to choose from and some other random "natural" disasters that would add a little more challenge to the game. Say for example, periodically, a lion roams into your Farm and eats your gazelles, there is a severe drought and you lose one of the weaker animals or a poacher comes and takes some of your animals.
I would recommend the game for anyone that enjoy simulation games, such as Simcity, etc. Thanks!

Comment #46 Whiterabbit...thanks for trying, but I think I must have done something stupid when I downloaded... even when I click on the little "big eye" guy and/or create a new shortcut, it still loads the Exotic version..oh, well... the Exotic version's okay so I guess I'll just play that. Thanks again!

You will need to go to the My Farm folder and create a new shortcut by right clicking on the file that looks like two eyes within a light brown circle,(supposed to represent a cockerel)......
I think off the top of my head the default location for it will be C:\Games\My Farm
......and selecting create a shortcut from the menu that appears. Drag and drop this short cut to where ever you keep your game short cuts.
If you're not sure how to find the above path, go to the start menu and click on My Computer. Within that folder you will find an icon that represents your C: drive; click on that, then look for the games folder. Within that folder you'll find the Merscom games. Find the My Farm folder and open it by clicking on it. (You may have to double click) Look for the executable file that I mentioned above that looks like a set of eyes but is supposed to represent a cockerel and create the short cut as instructed above.
I hope this helps Cheryl :)

Reposting cause I wasn't logged in. I put this on the forum too hoping you'll see it.
Thank you for another good game! My comment has to do with downloading mostly. The download site sucks big time. On highspeed it takes over an hour on this one. The long download times started when you went with Wiki. My dl speed check out 700-800 kb/sec but the highest I get from Wiki is 17.7 kb/sec... that's really ridiculous.

I missed the last farm game so I am happy to download this one.

downloaded the game.....I love sim games. However, after I have played it for a few minutes, the game locks up. Sometimes, I can do control alt delete and exit. Then the animals are on a black screen. I can quit the game, restart, and then they are back in sunlight. Sometimes I quit the game and then it says I neglected the farm and have to start all over again.....ughhhhh. Still give it a thumbs up

# 37 Merci Lapin Blanc, I truly don't want the PETA gang at my door, better watch these birds!!
So far my 2 birds are still alive, probably sheer luck, since even after reading the HTML documentation, I can't leave the food there, I present it to the bird, but nothing happens, although there is a little pop up with a dish and a minus 5 when I hover over my birds to check on them, and yes I did buy the right kind of food..... Maybe they are not hungry enough. This is funny we have a Lapin Blanc and Whiterabbit on here, which means exactly the same name....but one in English the other in French, now do we have a double personality Rabbit, interesting since this thread is about a Farm game..... Oh so many questions, so few answers.....
Ah yeah forgot to mention game is slow to load, although I have enough "juice" on this machine to run much bigger games. Might be something Merscom ought to look into, as I have almost all of their other games, and I don't have this problem with them.

Hmmm...well, I downloaded My Farm last week I think it was, and downloaded My Exotic Farm today. Problem is though, now the only game I can get to load is My Exotic Farm no matter what shortcut or extension I use (i.e., myfarm.exe takes me to exotic farm..weird). Any suggestions? I'm not big on computer lingo so keep it simple..haha

Hey, nanook, (#11): You'd better figure out how to feed that ostrich. I accidentally let mine starve and now there's a bunch of folks from PETA dressed up as chickens and lobsters, etc. staking out my house. When I try to go outside they call me "Satan" and fire paintballs at me. It's really annoying.
Other than that it's not a bad game.

Re comment #30 by Thermite. I'm running XP Professional 5.1 build 2600. With an Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor and 4 x 1gig Corsair DDR2 533MHz PC2-4200 RAM sticks. When running DXDiag from the start menu it shows up as 3584Mb RAM
I'm no expert, so can't really advise you. Maybe google it or talk to your local store. Mine; (Micro direct UK) is particularily helpful, when discussing builds and compatable components.

#23 What OS are you using? As far as I have been able to tell none of the Windows 32bit Desktop OS's can address more than 2GB of RAM. If you know a way to get XP Pro to be able to use 4GB I would love to know how! RAM is super cheap right now and I would love to be able to use more.

Please disregard my comment. After resetting my codecs the game works fine now.

This game looks great for my 7 yr old. It installed fine, but when I click New Game I get an error saying I do not have the required Video Codecs. I find this hard to believe as I have pretty much every codec known to man. I can't find any info on the site as to what codecs are required. Does anyone have a clue how to solve this? My PC exceeds the min spec. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention:
You will need a minimum of a 1Ghz cpu, 512MB RAM a 64Mb graphics card and a sound card, both direct X 9 compatible, and XP or later to run this game. This may be your problem Kelly B comment #9; although the specs are relatively old, as all new computers should come with at least a 128Mb graphics card, and I don't think you can buy 1Ghz processors any more? Also 512Mb of RAM is small by today’s standards, when you consider the latest motherboards, which are fixed up to run up to 8Gb of RAM. I recently upgraded my computer to run 4Gb of RAM. It cost me the equivalent of $60 to buy two 1 gig sticks, but you can get them cheaper, depending upon which type of stick you buy.
Thanks again Merscom and GGAotD. :)

I missed the other offering due to being on vacation. This is a fairly nice simulation, except for the sounds that become quite annoying in a short while. It's devoid of obstacles, so it's hardly a game though. It's also rather short, you'll have at most a few hours of play until you have 20 of the best animal and there's nothing left to do. But I'd say it's worth 10 bucks, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

It looks like Merscom have heeded the suggestions of the community as now there is an optional desk top shortcut installed, which in most previous games from Merscom were absent; leading to much confusion in the computer illiterate segment of the community. (no sarcasm meant there)
This is a large download of over 73Mb, however a large proportion of it (69Mb) can be attributed to the sound effects, music and graphics. There’s nearly 50 separate wav files that contain Jungle animal loops and ambience loops, which really add a great back ground sound to the game. The introductory music is a 45 second loop of appropriate music, which if you want to can be exchanged for something you may like better; however you will need to convert whatever you wish to replace the music with to ogg format then rename the file to that of the intro music. (It’s the only ogg file in the games folder (found specifically in the data folder).
The options menu contains the usual sliders and toggles for music and sound effects as well as toggles for tool tips, a screensaver and a sleep toggle (space bar), which can be used to turn on the game when it’s in screensaver mode. The novel way that the screensaver follows the progress you make in the game is an added bonus.
The in game menu looks a little daunting at first glance, but once you’ve read the players manual, which includes details of the installations, how to play, keyboard shortcuts, Game techniques and details of the screensaver that comes packaged with the game. Everything will become clear once you’ve read it.

Unfortunately I was unable to find and access to the manual apart from when you initially install the game and by going into the games folder and clicking on the html document. I won’t go into details of how to play the game, suffice it to say that this is a 3D Farm management game; basically the same as the giveaway from July 25th called ‘My Farm’ except that it has an African Jungle theme to it. If you liked my farm, you will certainly like this one. The game play is the same apart from having different ‘exotic’ animals and different foods and farm buildings to manage.
If you have the tool tips toggled on, you will occasionally be prompted to carry out a particular task such as feeding or cleaning, or even to be told that you are doing something wrong. The in game screen has all the information you need with respect to the time of day, which is shown by a day and night clock at the top of the screen as well as your cash balance, stock levels, animal satisfaction and a time accelerator that allows you to speed up the game when appropriate (see section 5 of the players guide ‘Game techniques’ for details).
You can stop playing at any point in the game and resume at your leisure.
The following is a link to several game screenshots:
http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/Exotic%20Farm/
This is well worth having if you have children. It’s a very simple take on ‘Zoo Tycoon’, which you can buy for less than this game now, however that particular game although far superior is much to complex for children to play. This game is relatively easy and will teach a child the basics of caring for an animal, as well as some basic management skills, lol.
Thank you Merscom LLC and the Giveaway team for another good game. My daughter loved My Farm, so will probably love this too. I give this a 6 out of 10 for playability, graphics and sound effects.

I downloaded and set this up with no problems, but when I tried to play, first the splash screen stayed up for a very long time, then the computer locked up completely when I tried to press New Game. When I restarted my computer and tried to play the game, it went to a black screen and locked up again. I'm disappointed. This is one game I figured my youngest would like, since she's all into sim games right now.

Ralph, the software give away page came up as blank with FireFox and most of it loaded for me w/IE, but the "more" link didn't work so, still pretty much useless.
The farm game sounds a bit childish, nothing wrong with that, but probably not for me.
Then again, some of you adults seem to like it, so........

For what it's worth, all of the merscom games that I've downloaded and played have been fairly good. They appear to distribute games that have a lot more effort put into them then some of the other publishers that we see here. So even before trying this one out, it's pretty safe to say it probably won't be a complete waste of time.
