I'm sick and tired of having the GOTD show up two days after it's available in my email and I can't even try them. I've used different email addresses to see if it was my server, and GOTD does not even reply to me when I ask if I can still download it or why it shows up 2 days after the download is available. Anyone else have this problem?

Guys, look at the front page:

Hello everyone!

Our team has made it into vacations season and we will be short on people for a few weeks. Actually, I’m writing that right from the beach:)

To compensate for temporary stuff shortage, we decided to switch to single site mode for those few weeks, that means that Game site will be offline and we will post games on our main site on weekends and software during business days. Once vacation season is over, the Game site will be back.

And that’s not all - we will be launching a new feature, Free Games Library, very soon!
We hope that improved Game site will be even more interesting for our visitors.

Happy vacation to everyone!
Slava and GAOTD team

I think the space req' is ok, one guy mention jpg, but as a texture you get pixelation, and it way better an uncompressed texture, yeah more space.
Either way, always mind games, I'll love to see another game like a shooter or racing.
Also 70 percent has Dsl, so it is not a bother to download 200 or more megabytes.
I loved the space interceptor, on a 7900 video card with antialiasing 4x play and looks great, even has great particles effects, blur, DX 9c, and for free.

I like this one. It's VERY similar to Sudoku, in that you've got to fill in grids with rows of numbers both horizontally and vertically without duplicating any numbers in the other directions. Bbut there's no having to worry about filling in sets of number in the subregions within the main grid like in Sudoku, and it's got those "" signs along side some of the squares to give you clues about what goes where.

I also like the ability to switch easily from paintbrush to pencil, something that some of my actual Sudoku games do not offer, that I - as a very cautious player in some of the harder levels - really need to have.

As a result, this game will probably end up being played more than the two actual Sudoku games already installed on my PC. I gave it a thumbs up.

flash s.o.bs with fast p.c.s!; not all of us have gr8 pc's or fast internet connections! it may be industry standard these days, but regardless, a game like this should not be so bulky! (bad development!) certainly no need to include directX - if u need it, get it seperately...

lovin the rest from merscom; bar the pointless d/l of directX every time! keep em comin GAOTD :)

#29 and #31: I bet you are the only 2 people on here that actually use antiquated win 98! The future is now. We dont need software created for outdated OS! Even XP is fast becoming outdated. If anyone ever knows how great Vista is, they would be eager to upgrade to Vista. I would be willing to bet that there are more Vista users on here than XP users. Microsoft hit the bullseye with Vista!!

Great!!! I cannot tear away from this game! The install, graphics, interface, game play, all terrific! This is the best game I have played in a long time. And!! It works with Vista!! I installed the new version of Direct X that came with it. Thanks for including that too! I played the game 4 hours straight. The game is underpriced in my opinion. I would have paid $39.95 for it! A simply terrific game.

@#32... I checked those Free Game Sites and both are Loaded with Games that are TRY and BUY. Trials. Junk. Our GAOTD gives COMPLETE software Packages which makes all the difference.
I think Developers Like the one today should simply include an additional option during their install process to download DirectX directly from the DirectX website. A ton of cool games givin away here on GAOTD include the DirectX Package with themt. Hmmm...

As for todays game... I am not into puzzle games so i will pass.

WOW!!! just about time for GAOTD to put a huge 400 megger action game on here again huh!!! I'll be back at midnight. ;*)~

Merri, 1 GHz processors and 128 MB RAM haven't been cutting edge for YEARS. Heck, good luck even finding a 1 GHz processor anymore, that's how outdated they are. If you buy the parts and put it together yourself(It's MUCH simpler than it sounds, it's literally put part A in slot A, part B in slot B, and the slots look completely different.) you can make a rig that outstrips these requirements for a couple hundred bucks if you just use your old monitor.

Downloaded and activated without a problem. Would prefer a version that doesn't fill my entire screen but I can definitely live with this. It does seem similar to Sudoku, but the less than, grater than variation makes for an interesting twist. I also like the simple layout variations and the pencil mark options. Easy on my eyes. Thanks for a great game GOTD!

By the way I only have a 20GB and only a small amount of usable disc space left, but I can always find room for something that I think I will enjoy.

You know, it's really funny how free games can start huge arguments.

Nice game - a bit large, and it could do with some tougher puzzles, but overall a nice little suduko-esque game with some nice graphics.

Fore free, I'll certainly keep it around for a while. I don't know if I'd pay for it - I don't think it's got enough replay value - but it's a nice game and will probably sit on my computer for a month or two and help me pass a little time now and then.

Thanks once again GGOTD!

My review it a bit biased ;)

If you like Futoshiki on your desktop keep on eye on my site. I'll have a downloadable Futoshiki program you might like better than this one. The benefits will be a much smaller download, it's not full screen, lower system requirements and 98 compatible.

I downloaded and installed. Everything works fine. As for the large file and large install. The 40MB plus install contains a 33MB DX folder. I simply deleted this folder. The game still works fine and it reduces the size to just over 10MB. I think most people can deal with that. I'm not an expert at puzzle games like this but I think the game is enjoyable once you trim the excess fat.

MrBlueSky: "So? Not everybody buys a new PC every year. The term ‘industry standard’ says it all: it’s an INDUSTRY STANDARD."

Every year? Nice try, but saying something like that shows that you're either (a) completely ignorant about computers or (b) intentionally making a bad reference to try and shore up your point. This game would have been industry standard more than 5 years ago. Maybe this was a problem back in the day of 1 gig hard drives, but that was what... back in the early 90's? This is called technology, and it moves on. Either keep up or stay where you are... but if you chose to stay where you are, then don't whine about it. It's about as dumb as whining that you can't find a machine to play your BetaMax tapes anymore.

Oh, and buying a new computer? More like buying a new hard drive at best. Once again, you demonstrate either your total ignorance or willingness to lie to shore up what you know is an illogical position.

To all the people whining about the size - this is a free program - no one is forcing you to download it and take up that precious 40.9 mb on your computer. So please stop your whining. If that much space is really an issue for you, then, as I stated above, catch up with technology.

one quick thing about the DL size..
personally, i dont mind downloading big files, however, my isp has a block on big file downloads, which, when i download a file, causes my internet to go from dsl to MUCH less then dial up for 24 hours... and they consider more than 20mB a big file.. thus barring me from all the good games because of this, inclusion of Directx..
i do have a solution though, not sure how practical, but its my 2 cents anyways..
have one download with Direct X and one without.. maybe that would make more people happy.. =)
i wanted to try this game out, but like i said, to big for my internet, so ill be back tommarow

One thing I really like about this game is the ability to right-click (and change from brush to pencil) and put possible numbers into the grid. This allows me to guess at a few numbers without having to hold them all in my head. I did not see this feature in any of the previous sudoku games. Now, I will have to go back and check in case I missed it, since it certainly helps.

Not an enjoyable as sudoku and the graphic backgrounds are less interesting, but it is a nice game for something new to me. Perhaps the author could add a choice of "Random" for the backkgrounds?

Thank you Merscom and GGAOTD.

A nicely presented puzzle game that although similar to Sudoku, is not actually the same game as some community members think. The following is two screenshots. The first is the opening screen, which takes you straight into the game and the second of the introduction to the help menu.

All aspects of the game, such as game options, saving, hints, changing etc can be found on the game page. The lay out is aesthetically simple, and the game play is a pleasure. For those who find Sudoku frustrating, this is a much more pleasant and sedate game, although there is a clock, counting up the time it takes for you to find the solution. :)
There are two hundred boards to play, so this game should fill up your time for quite a while.
Futoshiki is not the same game as Sudoku. The following are the Wikipedia definitions of these games:
Futoshiki (不等式 futōshiki?) is a logic puzzle game from Japan. Its name means "not equal". It is also spelled hutosiki (using Kunrei-shiki romanization).
The puzzle is played on a square grid, such as 5 x 5. The objective is to place the numbers 1 to 5 (or whatever the dimensions are) in each row, ensuring that each column also only contains the digits 1 to 5. Some digits may be given at the start. In addition, inequality constraints are also initially specified between some of the squares, such that one must be higher or lower than its neighbor. These constraints must be honoured as the grid is filled out.
Sudoku (数独 sūdoku?) is a logic-based number placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9x9 grid so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3x3 boxes (also called blocks or regions) contains the digits from 1 to 9. The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid.
This is definitely a quality game and a keeper for me. I give it 6 out of 10 for playability and interest.
Thank you for another excellent game Merscom LLC and to the Game giveaway team for providing this service. As always it’s much appreciated.

I tested it. Great game, really entertaining.
When I read the description I though it was a sudoku like, but in fact... not !
No maths required, just logic and deduction.

You can generate as many new grids as you want (they aren't preculaculated), the game can give some hints and/or solve the grid for you.
You can print it to keep on playing far from the computer. You can send the grid via email to share with friends.

the game on the developer site (in french) :

thumbs up!

A very nice number game. I am enjoying it and the program is well designed but there is one complaint:

There is no option for windowed play. To me, that is a big turn-off issue for a puzzle game. I am often running a game in the background while I am doing other "work" on the computer. It helps kill the moments of waiting for a "job" to complete. This game is all or nothing. I know I can use "alt + tab" but that isn't how I prefer to use my desktop. I want to be able to see when my other "work" is finished.

Well, a lot of people do mind as you can see.

So? Not everybody buys a new PC every year. The term 'industry standard' says it all: it's an INDUSTRY STANDARD.

Oke, if you say so. Nobody knows more about my needs (and my pc, and my pornography collection) then you. So it seems.

Stop whining about the dl size. If the package is 40mb it is because merscom paid heed to our remarks : xou dou ki was hard to launch because of a direct X problem. Now, the proper direct X files are packaged with the game and it always works easily.

Stop whining about space! Its about the game. The quality of the game. Sure, it might be too much space for the game itself, but I don't mind having 40mb of dead space for something I enjoy playing. The current industry standard for hard disk space is around 200GB nowadays, and maybe five years ago 40GB, still more than enough for all your needs. Maybe its *your* fault for having such huge collections of pornogra- work.

#5 I'm extremely sure that nobody has a dinosaur that doesn't push at least 2gHz nowadays.

#8 Passing on a game just because you feel its too big is kind of.. unreasonable, maybe?

The large file size is due to DirectX being included in the package, as it appears to be with all Bip Media games. Once installed, the game is actually only 10 MB. I love logic puzzles like this, and this one is very well done, with a good interface, including the ability to easily pencil in possible answers. If you're a fan of Sudoku-type puzzles, definitely give this a try.

Merscom puts out some decent games at reasonable prices, but some of them seem to take up an unnecessarily large amount of space. I have acres of space on my computer, but 40.9 MB for this type of game is ridiculous. I'm gonna pass just on principle.
