Nice game, a few extra features like finding the voodoo dolls. This makes it interesting.

Just finished the game and plan to play it again. I've played HOG before and tired of the repetition; that was not a problem with this game. Beautiful graphics and it was fun - and sometimes frustrating - finding other rooms to search or cabinets that opened, and even keys in one drawer to open another.

Sorry for the late comments but wanted to make sure that I told the developer and GOTD how much I LOVED this game. The only improvement I could ask is that the mouse response could have been a wee bit quicker. During some of the puzzles (as in puzzle pieces) it would become slightly stuck. Yes I did make sure my mouse was clean but I did not check the options in the game to alter the mouse speed if there is such an option. All in all a great challenge and for me far above the timed management games or the boring, mind melting match three. I give it a 10! Thanks again GOTD and Sugar Babies for a fun giveaway.

I finally finished the game so I can post all of my feedback.
I really like this game and because I really like it there are lots of details in my review rather than some vague ideas. The graphics are great. The hidden objects are well integrated into the scenes and relent to the story.
Suggestion: Do something different with the first hidden object location. Here it was washed out and the color scheme caused problems. I can imagine that it would turn off people who might be interested in the game if that wasn't their first encounter.
I loved the way the hint arrow worked. I like that it can be ignored by those that don't want extra assistance. For those who need it or want to play an easier setting, it can indicate that there is nothing left in a particular location that is on the list and will point towards an object without needing to trigger the hint.
Suggestion: Have the hint arrow indicate the location of the scene of another object if there is no more objects in the current scene. The one issue I have is that in the hunting lodge, I couldn't find the last location and the hint button doesn't cover this situation.
On the whole, they did a good job with interesting and wide range of different looking characters. I liked the fact that the people in the game looked like real people rather than perfect pretty people.
Suggestion: to have broader appeal, having more diversity would be good.
I am guessing they were really stretching for the last match and were running out of ideas. The writer was not a fashionista. He looked to be an older man who is happy to be in a comfy sweaters and doesn't pay any attention to fashion. The was a big discord for me after how well the game did up to this point. Another place that was frustrating to me was the forest ranger and the retired general had many guns, bombs, bullets, as well as a bow and arrow that hunting/blowing things up/interest in fighting/death should have been part of their profile. Even the writer has Russian roulette. It counted as a gambler but is also focused with death.
An overall game suggestion: I would have liked to see the matchmaker find matches for the some of the people that didn't get chosen. That would have felt more rounded and could open up an opportunity for a different way of matching people since we already would know their profile.
I liked the voodoo doll search aspect and the variety of the mini games was good. Setting up the date and creating a present were nice touches. The list of what to do being in the diary rather than on the scene worked well. Mostly it was common sense and the diary acted as backup if someone got stuck.
The emphasis of everyone must have love and be paired off is a little over the top, but the mechanics of the game could easily transfer to other genres. I would be interested in those games if they existed.
Very well done and thank you for the game.

Thank you GGOTD - I loved this game, especially as it can be played in a relaxing, untimed mode. Lovely graphics and not so difficult that it becomes frustating. Definitely a keeper for me.

Win 7; downloaded and installed without problems. Decent storyline, not too much backtracking, easy enough hidden objects, appropriate sized. Loved the fact the game was timed and untimed which is excellent. I wished all HOGs had an untimed featured. Not sappy for romantic based storyline. Was long enough to be worth the download, short enough to keep me interested. I really liked the game.

HI,
The game downloaded pretty fast and set up quickly. The graphics are good and the game is very easy to follow. I feel like it was made for younger age also, but all ages can enjoy the story. It is similar to most games of this genre with finding the hidden items and puzzles, which sort of makes it run of the mill these days. One thing I might change is a pop up Thank you for another good game!!

Huh? Was that the end of the game? I got as far as interview the suspects and found that Mr Miles had a doll and then I X'd out of that and I'm back at the Start Screen.

Okay, worked it out. Had to click on the female characters in the right order to match with Mr Miles. Strange it didn't say what I had to do. Maybe a bit more information as it what was needed.

OK, I have to speak up about this annoying requirement here to have to give my e-mail address to you in order to get a download link.
It's been a few weeks since any titles here have caught my interest, but I really loathe this assumption that we all use farcebook or some other social irritation. WE DO NOT!
I have been a fan of GOTD for many years, but this new "requirement" to either have forcebook or cough up my e-mail like a beggar every time is very much NOT to my liking and if it is the new way, then I may very sadly have to stop using what has been in all respects a very enjoyable site.
Perhaps this is what Stephen (White Rabbit) meant a few weeks ago about changes, and why he too is considering his position (or was).
Seriously, GOTD, at this rate you will drive away me and many, many other people like me — who would rather crawl naked over broken glass than ever use social media — to the likes of Jenkat and other game sites. But maybe you don't care about that, as perhaps we are no longer of use to you despite our years of loyal support and encouragement up to now? If that's true, then we really do have to part company at this point.

Stephen: THANK YOU!
Excellent advice as always, and I'm very happy to say I shall continue to use GGOTD as my "go-to" site for free games.

Robert: This sounds like a classic case of needing to temporarily disable your AV. I sometimes need to do this with AVG, and almost always when I used to use avast!.
Most AVs allow you to disable them for maybe 5 or 10 minutes (best to take those lowest-time options to prevent any risk of you forgetting to re-enable your AV afterwards) by right-clicking their icon in the System Tray. The time to do this is just BEFORE you install the game.
Try installing the game again and don't re-enable the AV until the activation AND install have completed.
Hope that helps!

I had temporarily disabled AVG because I know that can be a problem, so goodness knows what happened.

Hi WhiteRabbit and GOTD games and as always thanks for your efforts,
Thanks so much Sugar Games, for what is going to be an enjoyable game, when I can devote more time to it. Just the few scenes I have played I liked. The intro is very gripping and does evoke sadness, which sort of surprised me. The game itself, though, is bright and well lighted, so far not too many dark hard to spot items. Do look forward to playing more.
Although familiar with most of the major game creators of this genre, Sugar Games is new to me, so I look forward to sampling more from their selections.
Grateful as always,

Though I have never been one to believe in romance and draping cars with flowers, this is a nice game to play while listening to a mystery audio book.
Thanks to Sugar Games for providing us with a time passer, and one with nice mini games.
I would like to see an option, once you finish the game, to have access to mini games that increase in difficulty and an option to take some of the nice scenery from the game and make it into jigsaw puzzles of varying sizes. That is how I would suggest improvements for any HO game. Many games of this genre are so dark and spooky.
It would encourage me to finish them as now I generally play long enough to figure out the plot and leave the game never to touch it again. Then I could give a review which I don't feel I can do with honesty now, because I don't finish them.
Thanks White Rabbit for all you do.

It may be a bit "teenage girly", but it's a neat little game with plenty to do and find, plus puzzles along the way. In some respects the plot and storyline are irrelevant, but the game itself and what you need to do are plenty entertaining enough to while away a couple of hours so far.
The game saves where you've got to (by small section, not the exact point), and as each part doesn't take too long to play it's easy to dip into and progress at your own speed, much better than those "shoot-em-up" type games where if you lose all your lives you have to go back to the beginning.
So what if the graphics are a bit creaky and wobbly? The game may well be a bit old but that doesn't matter, what matters is the enjoyment of playing.
I for one give it a big thumbs up, plenty to keep me interested and in my view more entertaining than some of the "match 3" games that have been made available on here recently.
Thank you GOTD for another decent game.

Here we have a two year old game that looks like a ten year old game. Interesting comments, there, but not ones that entice me to install the game.
I'm a word person. I like words. Words should be used correctly. To see the words "fifty" and "unique" side by side makes strange things happen in my brain.
50 one of a kind, never seen before, brand new, original in all aspects things in a two year old game that looks like a ten year old game? The stretched band of credibility just snapped, dudes.

Swamp Thing, I know what you mean and I sympathise, but frankly my Russian is non-existent, so I long ago decided to forgive grammatical clangers from Russian software developers. I find them kind of sweet in a way!
That said, maybe you should volunteer your services to game developers to proof-read their scripts and texts at the beta stage? Oh, and if any developers are reading this, yes I would be very interested in doing that myself. ;)

Available at myplaycity[.]com/matchmaker_2/ should you miss it on GOTD today, Big Fish has mixed reviews bigfishgames[.]com/games/7576/matchmaker-curse-of-deserted-bride/
MPC includes "Windows 98/2000/2003/XP/Vista/7" in the requirements -- both MPC & Sugar Games say Direct X 7, so seems a bit older, but on the bright side, minimal requirements man it'll likely run great on lower powered &/or older hardware.

To elaborate, the Big Fish reviews work out to almost exactly average. An almost balanced dispersal of 1 -2 vs 4-5 star votes with only 3 saying average, so the game seems to have polarized the Big Fish voters. However, I would tend to give the nod to the yes votes, because the no's were not in universal agreement, but tended to be a more dispersed collection of individual peeves. About the only consensus viewpoints was that the game was for old school HOG lovers, and the music annoyed enough people to be worth mentioning, but hardly universally.

Ken , Hi! I made the same comment few hours ago and found the answer. I have tried to install it on an old PC with Win XP (Yes...old....I know...No it did not come with the Mayflower!) and it worked perfectly. As far as these programs do not install anything in the registry, I cut it, put it on a usb key then pasted it on the right PC running win 10 x64. As you tried to perform the installation with win XP configuration without success I believe that a change has ben made by Microsoft during a update that the Game's wrapper do not take yet into account. For me 3 weeks ago it was still working. Hope it helps! Have a nice day.

Pat_13, Hi Pat, thanks for your reply.
I've just returned from playing with the grandkids in our local park and thought I'd have another go at installing the game, also the Giveaway of the Day too.
Double-clicked the set-ups of both freebies a few times and checked the running processes with Task Manager.
They were there, all ten of them, so stopped them all running. Tried again. No luck.
Right-clicked the set-up icon, tried Open; then Run as Administrator; then Troubleshoot Compatibility. Still nothing. A Google search brought up a DirectX problem and suggested installing onto a usb stick. No Luck. Copy and Pasted onto the usb instead and tried installing again. Zilch.
I have both 64 and 32 bit computers and neither of them will install. I think that a recent Windows 10 update had changed something, so I Googled again and found instructions on how to check if the Windows Installer in Services was running. It wasn't, so I started it, rebooted, checked again, Nothing doing! Googled again and it suggested a Virus, so did a full scan and Vulnerability scan, checked logs, Clean as a whistle.
I think I'm going to give up now, I've given it my best shot. Through all this though I have noticed that my computer name has changed in the General section of right-clicked Properties. I hope I haven't been hacked, or is it another change made by a Windows 10 update? Off I go to do a full security check. Computers....don't cha love 'em?

This is a Hidden Object game that revolves around a love story. The color palette is bright and feminine. I didn't follow the story much as I never care about them, but judging by the length of the cut scenes, the story may be well developed. You can click through the cut-scene dialogues to make them go faster.
So far it is almost 100% HO. The two puzzles I've come across are extremely easy. The puzzles are embedded in the HO and are required to find objects inside, but the game does provide an in-game hint system and ability to skip the puzzle aspect. I don't think there is a timer on the skipping aspect.
When you first start there is an in-game tutorial as you play. There is no way to stop this. This is great for anyone who has never played one of these before but I found it extremely annoying as I had to stop to click on whatever the tutorial was showing me. Overall it didn't last long but it was intrusive as I kept thinking it was over, then I would activate another information bubble.
My biggest complaint is how difficult the items were to see. It's not that they are well hidden - quite the contrary. It's simply a result of the color palette. Everything looks exactly the same. The overall look of the game is flat blandness. I don't know how old the game is, but it definitely looks like an old school HO game. The dated look itself can be off-putting to people, but coupled with the difficulty in seeing the objects, it's likely that only those who get caught up in the story line will play it through to the end.
Still, the developers seem to have taken great care in making the game, going so far as to specify "mechanical fan" instead of just "fan". At first I thought this was a bit too much hand-holding until I solved one of the mini puzzles in the same scene and found a hand fan. If I hadn't found the mechanical fan first, I would have presumed this was the item and wasted much time trying to find a hot spot.
A combination of apathy towards the story and design aspects has resulted in me disliking the game and deleting it from my system, so I can't whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone. I do think those who don't want one of the now common games of death, destruction, and dismembership or who wish to follow a love story will probably enjoy this game. Even if it is a bit easy, there was enough variety in the first scene to keep things interesting.
Save | Cancel
Yeah, I was thinking that maybe my feelings about it were the result of being up all night and playing it as soon as it was made available. Or it could be that, like you, I have HO over exposure.
Considering how everyone seems to enjoy it, I think I'll give it another go and get a bit further along to see if the puzzles get more challenging and if my eyes/brain adjusts to the color pallet & art style enough to stop hurting.
Regardless of my own feelings, I stand by my belief that this is a well made game others will enjoy.

I got this game recently, and am almost halfway through it, so ...
Sugar Games seem to be made to appeal to young teenage girls who doodle hearts and flowers, but they're so well and innovatively made! In this game, I'm rolling my eyes at adorning a vintage car with a flower garland to set up a first date (I'm really not into superficial flowers-and-candles romance or matchmaking) , but I'm still playing because the game is so well done: hidden-object scenes require you to open drawers or cupboards to find things, and there are many puzzles and tasks in between; our protagonist, Helen, also does her own electrical repairs and repairs cars in the garage!
If Sugar Games ever gets into more adult themes, they'll be a force to be reckoned with:, but I'm still recommending this game just because of it's quality.
