I downloaded this game off this website yesterday and installed it as instructed....haven't tried to play it until today and find that i need a code in order to activate the full version as promised...help please?

....................Moderator Comment.......................

Unfortunately it's too late now. to activate the game you need to click on the activate module that comes packaged with the game.

I don't know what's wrong, I installed and activated the game on one user account (the Admin) in a windows xp system, I later logged into another user's account, after the game has gone out of the Free giveaway period, and guess what the game asks for activation only in that account, the admin account has the game activated!!! the other account asks for registration information!!!

........................Moderator Comment.....................

It's alway worked that way. To get the game working as a full version you needed to actvate the game on each user account.

also found snap to background [see #23] (once whole outer edges complete?) did not stay in place.

would have appreciated a pause option, rather than back to the menu, because then the puzzle had to load again. this would have been logical when a timer is involved and you need to go away for only a brief moment. at least it saved the progress.

could have done without the rainbow ripple every time a piece matched another piece. got tired of it after the 2nd time, and it held things up

re: the music; turned my speakers off

rating? about 5/10. I realise it is free, but I wouldn't recommend it enthusiastically (I didn't get the 2 previous versions so can't compare them to this one)

Downloaded this three times including once from mirror site and each time the setup sends it to "my pictures"!! I can run it from there but have to scroll through pics of all the files until I get (the very last...) game file. Anyone else get this or is it just me? Managed to put a shortcut on desktop but it does the same!?

..............................Moderator Comment............................

You can move the whole file to a more appropriate place on your computer if you wish. Then re create a new shortcut.

Lovely Puzzles appears to be newer than Glamour Puzzle because of one improvement that I find clearly a positive. Here the pictures are often given reasonable identification, which makes it significantly more interesting, especially for young people. In Glamour Puzzle, the titles were very minimal - London, London II, Moscow, Castle, etc.... Here, you've got a little better idea of what attractive landmark you're looking it. A definitive plus for me. In fact, this has a number of scenic lighthouses and, for me, the great thing is that, since they're properly identified, I might be fortunate enough to visit some of them someday.

The other thing I've noticed is a curiosity which actually makes the Easy level even easier. If you don't allow piece rotation, which makes everything easier since every piece is generated in it's correct rotation, the program doesn't generate the bottom row of the puzzle, resulting in even less pieces in Easy mode. The puzzle I tried in medium, however, generated normally. I went back to check and also noticed this extra easy "mode" in Glamour Puzzle, but not in Christmas Puzzles. Of course, it can be a little confusing, since only the top and the sides of the puzzle's borders match the ghost picture's borders.

Whether that was intentional, I don't know, but I did notice one misstep in Lovely Puzzles. When you right click on a piece with piece rotation on you get a rotation menu. The numbers are one color, then change slightly when you mouse over them, highlighting them. When I select the rotation menu in Lovely Puzzles, the numbers are in a poorly focused swamp green, and don't clear up until you highlight them. Minor annoyance.

I don't really understand why the last 2 puzzles are getting so many bad votes. Maybe because people were fine with one, but didn't want 3 so close to each other. By Fly-Games originally creating Infinite Puzzles, they sort of forced themselves out of the market, since, once you can do your own, why would you want to pay for somebody else's? It's good for users, but unfortunate for developers, that there are plenty of free alternatives. Still, it's hard to say that these 3 puzzles are unfairly priced at $6.99. If you vote purely on the quality of these puzzles, I don't see how you can be too critical.

That may not be great giveaways, but they're good ones. Still, Fly-Games need to fix the minor annoyance of the jumping "locked" puzzle - there's really no need or excuse for it to do that - and put in a music/sound control, so people can stream or play something else as a puzzle background. This is a type of game where sound is, obviously, not needed, since it provides no useful feedback. I know the sound can be hacked, but these two items need to be addressed, so Fly-Games can make the profits that these little programs should be able to reasonably generate. If any puzzle programs can generate money in this market.

...............Moderator Comment......................

Your comment about Fly Games 'sort of forcing themselves out of the market' I agree with that and wonder whether this is the reason they no longer sell it? Someone else thankfully has located the pizzle over at Alawar. Since I no longer have The Infinite Jigsaw puzzle I think I'll be buying it. It has so much more to offer than the ones they are selling now.

PollyMarie (16),
Norton's SONAR kills everything it's not acquainted with. I hate it, and turn it off most all the time before downloading GOTD offerings.

I found the third screenshot amusing. The painting shown there is "The Triumph of Death" by Pieter Bruegel, which features an army of skeletons harvesting humans. Apparently that makes for a "Lovely Puzzle." :)

Here's a larger version of the painting...

Unable to move to large monitor in a dual monitor set up.
Pieces get hidden under the exiting puzzle on 13"

Would be better if whole puzzle wouldn't move when adding a piece, even when locked.

Outside of those requested updates, have been enjoying the last 2.

Installed into the c:\Games folder as many seem to do. The installation went as well as could be expected. Although it didn't give a desktop icon it was easily found in the folder it installed to and with a simple right click I had the desktop icon. It started and ran without a problem (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit). The pictures are very nice, the adjustments for the various setting were easy to use and find, and overall I found this to be a nice program. Though it is like a few already given; it is still nice to have any free program that performs well. I personally believe that the 61% thumbs down is only because it is so similar to those that have been given away. Which I also believe is unfair to this particular game.

Whether you want another puzzle program or not, I think that the review should be on THIS giveaway and less dependent on the fact that there have been a few puzzle ones given away lately. I give this a 7 out of 10 in my book and think that that the only other big benefit that I wish it had was the ability to make puzzles out of your own pics. Yet,at $6.99 it is still a good deal for anyone that is looking for a simple and nice looking puzzle program. Usually ones that can make puzzles out of your own pics go for a much higher price.

Thank you GOTD and Fly Games! Thumbs up here.

Normally I would have done an independant review, but this weekend was particularily busy, and so I didn't have the time to write one. All three puzzles are basically the same with only the images and some background and color changes made to make then look diffrent. The puzzle mechanics were exactly the same.

Third entry and I am really enjoying these puzzles. Pity that only Christmas Puzzles had the gallery and thumbnails or previous and next on the screen. It also had the option (on some of the puzzles) to click on the pieces and change the colour which made it even more challenging.

If you have all 3 you will need to rename your shortcuts as the exe file in each is the same 'jigsaw.exe'.

Aside from an option to mute (which is easily gpt around) the only other thing I would suggest to the developers is a pause button. It is annoying to have to reload the puzzle if you need to stop for a few minutes and want to halt the clock.

I downloaded and installed the game just fine, but there are a couple of images that I found in a quick glance-through that I'd rather not my 9yo to have access to. Is there any way to delete these puzzles?

.................Moderator Comment..................

Yes there is. Open up the installed games folder and look for a folder called Boxes. Inside that you'll find several categories. you just need to find which category and then the correct image. Delete it from the folder and that'll solve your problem.

This game seems a scaled down version of Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle by Alawar (http://www.alawar.com/game/infinitejigsawpuzzle/)

.................Moderator Comment..................

You are rght. Though it was Fly games that originally developed Infinite Jigsaw puzzle. The GUI is remarkably similar except the ability to add images and change the jigsaw shapes has been removed; plus you could change the jigsaw numbers from less than 10 pieces to aything in between up to around 1400. That was a brilliant Jigsaw. If they could combine that with Real Jigsaw that allows you to view each jigsaw as a picture in a gallery and indicates whether the puzzle has been solved, started or not started. I though I still hd imfinite Jigsaw puzzle, but after searching for it for several days it looks like its been lost. I'm not one for purchasing Jigsaw puzzles. but I will be buying it from alawar. For some reason fly Games stopped selling their product and instead sells these dumbed down versions.

It's the file that looks like a set of childrens building blocks with the letters MFC and is called Jigsaw. Right click on that and select send to then Create (desktop shortcut). You should then be able to play the game via the shortcut you created.

I've removed the short tutorial on how to make the game portable because it's against giveaway rules. Telling people how to bypass the protection may stop potential developers from allowing future games to be given away here. Sorry GMMan. I know you meant it in a helpful way. Thanks for the work you do, it's much appreciated. I hope you can see what I'm saying about developers supporting this project in the future. I'd love to tell the community how to be able to save most of their giveaways (if it was possible), and have had to rewrite some reviews when I've found myself telling of ways to do so. I know I've said this or that game is portable and to be honest regret doing so as it's also unfair on the guys who make these games It would be a shame if we lost games due to developers seeing us telling thousands of people how to rip off their games. To be honest I think these giveaways were to give us extended demos rather than permanent copies of the games. I've purchased all the games I’ve really liked as i think its important to support the developers, especially at times like now when games are practically being given away. Though conversely I also appreciate not everyone has the money to do so. :)

My favorite jigsaw puzzle program is Puzzle Master. It includes everything and is the benchmark for all other versions. I have version 2, although I believe 3 is the last. And there's almost no change from version 2 to 3 other than the puzzles (which can also be done using version 2). Unfortunately the last version was 3 which came out in 2003.

The Puzz-3D jigsaws are also fun if you can find them.

I'm so glad you offered this because I was unable to download the first of these three and have been enjoying the Christmas one. However, I must say that the music is irritating on this one. I don't go to the trouble of changing the music file, I just mute my computer while I play as I'm usually doing it while watching TV anyway. It sure would be nice if the developers would give an option to add your own pictures.

Also, I had to change the name of my shortcut before I could put it on my desktop as it had the same name as the Christmas game.

As stated on the last puzzle giveaway, I really like jigsaws and this is another good one. The music is a bit grating but it can be taken from the music folder and replaced with a mp3 of your own choice or left empty for no mucic at all. Thanks for the great giveaways, I do so much appreciate you, GOTD.

In the Christmas Jigsaw puzzle there was a button to show the "Gallery". That is lots of available pictures at one time. That button appears to be missing from this game and one must scroll through the pics one by one. - Lots of nice pics. Would be nice to be able to turn down/adjust the music. Or better yet turn it off altogether. I know I can change/delete the music file but controls are nice too.

All in all a nice game and a relaxing way to spend some time. - Thanks GGOTD and Fly.

Installs & plays ok on Vista Home Premium 32.

One question, though -- how do you turn the infernal music OFF???????? It's not bad music, just irritating when you want to listen to something else while you're playing. There are also no options for resizing or switching to windowed mode. *SIGH*

Other than that, not a bad little time-waster.

Installs and plays well. Is just as good as the previous two games - same game. I just did a clean install of Windows 7 so lost the copy of Glamour puzzle and was more than pleased to get this one. I would probably be quite happy to spend my $6.99 at BigFish, Msn games or iWin type game sites to buy it.

I wont bother with a full review today as today’s game is basically the same as the previous 2 weeks (see links below if you missed the previous giveaways and want to read about the games mechanics - this game is exactly the same as both the glamour and Christmas puzzles apart from the GUI and the images. There’s less than 2 hours left before the change over (by my watch at the moment) so wouldn’t have the time to complete a full review anyway). Besides when I downloaded the Lovely Puzzle from fly Games and installed it (so that I could capture some of the images we should be fetting in this puzzle, I got another copy of the Glamour puzzle, even though it said it was the Lovely puzzle (and is another reason why I wasn't able to write a full review). It's worrying me that the giveaway will also be the same as the images shown on the front page of the game giveaway site are those from the glamor puzzle. The game giveaway team are away on vacation at the moment so I'm not able to contact them (if this is the case) Unfortunately I will be out for a significant portion of the day from around lunch time till late afternoon (Going to see my daughter dance in a production of the Wizzard of Oz), so there will be no moderation over that period. I’ll answer any queries later today when I’m able to, so please, if you post a comment from around 3 to 4 hours after the giveaway started and find your comment hasn’t been answered four or five hours later don’t post again asking why your comment isn’t showing

There is another moderator that occasionally helps out, but it’s rare. Hopefully they will read this comment and help out this afternoon.

The three I’ve posted below are from the developers web site and are in Russian, however they do give you a good impression of what to expect. (assuming my statement above is incorrect for the giveaway version which I hope it is).

Alternative Games:

I posted the following link last week, but just in case you missed last weeks game or you didn’t get the chance to follow the link, here it is again.

There are hundreds of jigsaw puzzles available for free via the internet. This
link to Caimans leads you to just over a hundred different Jigsaw puzzle games all of which are free.

Thanks to Naomi who suggested we visit Jigzone last week. You can find loads of free jigsaw puzzles:

http://www.jigzone.com/

Copmom suggested http://www.brainsbreaker.com/. It’s not free, but you can create puzzles that you can send onto friends as copmom does. The program is actually very good with the ability to create puzzles with many more pieces than today’s game. Also you can upload your own images and use different interlocking pieces plus other features.

You can see my comments for the other jigsaws given away over the last few weeks by following the links below:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/christmas-puzzles/#comments

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/glamour-puzzle/#comments

The only difference between today’s game and both of the above are the images found within the games and the GUI, which has a color change. Otherwise each of the three Jigsaw puzzles given away is basically the same game. I personally think it sad that they no longer sell the infinite jigsaw puzzle. And suspect it may be a tactical move to maximize profits ( then again I may be wrong). The game had everything these puzzles offer plus more besides. (i.e. the ability to add your own images, different puzzle shapes and the ability to change the number of puzzle pieces from several up to around 1400 using a slider so you could choose any number within that range
