Every day we offer FREE licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise.
Fairyland was available as a giveaway on September 24, 2007!
You are playing through a little fairy named Ptolemy. Ptolemy knows the incantation for turning her enemies into cakes. When being dropped from somewhere (either you or somebody else may push it or it may fall down by itself), the bewitched enemy expires. You can use your enemies as footholds for moving around the playground.
Several special things emerge on the screen during the game. If you take them with you, they will help you to win. On some levels, the characters can be instantaneously moved by teleports. Be careful, in one of the teleports there is a hiding place of the worm that can grab and trap both you and your enemies.
The aim of the game is to defeat the Red Dragon who stole a Holy Gem. The Red Dragon occupies the 150th level. Your journey will not be an easy one. On each level, enemies of all sorts will try to stop you. Good luck!

Although it is 11:38 pm now, still shouldn't this game activate ok? It keeps saying it can't connect to the website for activation, & yes, I checked my firewall. I didn't really want to stay online & keep checking for activating a game for another 20 minutes, but here I shall stay & try. Is it possible the free amount is already used up? Thanks. :) Skye-hook

(Back to #12) nope. I specifically installed XP instead of Vista (which came standard on this new computer). I've had too many problems with vista elsewhere. didn't want to deal with it at home too. I got RIP running, Dinos and Bubbles works... just this one is a real pain. Too bad, my daughters would have liked it.

To answer a few questions, the main game *.exe and *.dat files are dated: 17/12/2004.
The graphics files are dated: 06/11/2000 or 11/12/2000, the readme game guide: 18/01/2001.
One thing to add to the comment that it is limited to only keyboard input; the readme file says it does provide joystick and gamepad support. I don't use these so I can't confirm that.
This game most certainly does NOT support Vista, that should be self-evident.
As far as the DNS errors go, it's the Internet it is not completely reliable, you have to accept that. At some point RIP will be re-offered again. You're getting it for free, I hardly see how you can complain that you weren't able to get a free game. The site is under no obligation to give you the game for free in the first place, why should they be held accountable to re-offer it again? Use some commonsense, people! Good grief.
If you want it that bad, download the demo or pay the asking price for the full version; thousands of people have already, so it obviously has a decent fanbase.

Are you running vista? this game might not support it

I've installed this game three times now -- using the mirror link once. It appears to install fine, but then will not open. When I try to play it goes to a black screen for a few seconds, then kicks back out to my desktop without doing anything. Anyone else had this problem?

It's a lovely little game, many thanks.

Wow. This game is far too primitive, even for GGOTD. This time I will agree with hempman, the asking price is far too high. I'm curious as to when this game came out. It looks and plays like a shareware game from the mid-nineties. Not recommended.

Sorry #8, but I disagree. I had the same problem as "William." The site was down for most of yesterday, period. And, yes, they should repeat the offering because most of us couldn't get in to download it. And since this is the message thread that the powers-that-be might be reading (since yesterday's message thread is already "old news") then it's the thread that these messages should be posted in.

"William" - Your comment has nothing to do with today's game. I have had no problems activating anything recently, no DNS error with yesterday's download, and was able to get into the forum with no trouble. Perhaps the problem is YOURS, not the SITE. Perhaps you should take some simple lessons in how the internet works before coming in here and whining.
Back to today's game - my 4 year old likes it. Me, on the other hand, eh.

This is a good, simple fun game for those that enjoyed or enjoy Tetris.

Due to apparent site problems, activation wasn't available on the first RIP, DNS error trying to get yesterday's, couldn't access the forums just now. This is atrocious. When there are site problems, users should have a way to get the software later. It's hard to test it when you can't get it.

I downloaded this as a demo last year, because I thought my daughter would like it. A title like fairyland would probably appeal to a 5 year old (as she was then); conjuring up images of a fairy tale land, with flower fairies, or some other such type of fairy. The reality is a little disappointing; however, for my daughter….. well she played the demo straight through; but I decided not to buy it simply because we already had a couple of bubble bobble clones; so, knowing my daughter enjoyed this game, I am pleased to see it here today :D
The game was released seven years ago, so don’t expect to see cutting edge graphics. Nor does it have mouse control, which for those with hand disabilities will not be a good choice because to avoid the ‘baddies’ you need to be quite adroit at keyboard controls, jumping from one platform to another often; although the keys you use are limited to the left and right arrow keys as well as the space bar for jumping and the left control for casting spells.
See the link below for several screenshots that include the intro screen, main and options menu, the help menu and several in game images. One of the images shows a relatively safe haven in level 1, which once the game gets underway, is safe from the first of your opponents, the hogs. However when you see the devil on the broom, beware as he scours every platform, so be ready to jump. :)

If you like platform games of this type, you’ll like this, despite the cheesy music, which sounds like one of those electronic xylophones from the 1970’s that Rolf Harris used to advertise, mixed in with a cheap drum machine, and vaguely reminiscent of the electronic music of the 1980’s; ( hmmm, maybe not, lol) not that the music is the important part of the game. You can always turn the sound down and turn on the Hi Fi or MP3 player instead.
You’ll find lots of power ups which are time limited, so get them while they are available as they can help you win the level. There are quite a few to be collected, such as: crystals, red and blue potions, gold, money, spell books, a golden feather, gold and silver tiara’s, scrolls, and several other types as well. Each has varying effects, for example the silver spell book changes all the baddies to cakes, which when pushed off the platforms fall and kill the baddie, which then floats to heaven, or hell. Others freeze the baddies in their tracks, or temporarily make them disappear. As you progress through the levels you will encounter lots of opponents such as the hogs and the devil that I’ve already mentioned as well as Wizards, Wraiths, Worms, Goblins, Dragons, Centurions and Clerics and even a strange looking boss dragon that thankfully your daughters (and little boys) will probably love. :)
Thank you game over games and the game giveaway team for giving this game away. Despite the disapproval of some above, I’m sure this will be loved by our children; besides, it's free for today so good one guys. :)
I wouldn't pay the asking price though because I've bought much more interesting games for my children for far less; for example, Tesco’s are selling a great management game called ‘Sheep’ at the moment that only costs the equivalent of ‘$2’, and which both my kids adore. Therefore in my opinion this is only worth 3 out of 10 for adults or maybe 5 out of 10 for children. I do think that as an arcade game 'ages’ it should become significantly cheaper than they seem to be when perusing the game distributors’ sites. There seems to be a standard set of prices from $9.99, $14.99 or $19.99, with a few exceptions, such as Brick Blaster 3D which I bought online for $4.99, then saw it in my local games shop for even less. That particular game comes with lots of options and an editor as well. So yeah, $14.99 is far too much for a game of this standard, and age.

Fans of Bubble Bobble could also check out the Taito Legends compilation, which has that and 30 or so other arcade games from Taito. Including Rainbow Islands and New Zealand Story. There's also a Taito Legends 2, which has Taito's own remake of Bubble Bobble, Bubble Symphony. Both are available for the PC and last-gen consoles.

This Bubble Bobble clone is okay, I guess. However, I played 19 levels and was bored after 3. There is nothing that makes this clone stand out from the rest. And with the original Bubble Bobble available for 5 pounds (~10 dollars) bundled with Rainbow Islands, there is very little in Fairyland's favour.

This is a small, simple side scroller. It doesn't take up much room on your hard drive and for me installed quickly and simply. It uses 4 keyboard keys to play so it is not complicated. This is an easygoing game to play, however I don't see this as keeping an adult's attention for too long, but for young children I'd imagine it would be fun.
Your character - a witch - flies on your broomstick into each successive level, lands and then there are various characters on each level she has to defeat by casting spells. On some levels there is a bonus prize further up the screen on one of the ledges which she has to jump up and get.
I only went up to level 6, but they become slightly more difficult each time you advance, the same premise as any of this genre of game.
