To Hempman and Rip, the RIP trilogy of all three games is actually only $20 for all three games on steam, just to let you guys know.

I recommend the first in the series over 2 and 3.

Hempman,
Who pays $20 for a minimalistic game? Thousands upon thousands of people do every day. Try visiting iwin.com or bigfishgames.com You can obtain memberships with these companies that allow you to buy $20 software at significantly discounted prices. There are still people who pay full price. What about all those games sold in boxes on shelves 3 times the amount you think is too steep: $60? Games vary anywhere from $5 to $70. Quite often the quality of the game has little to do with the pricing, and that is because games are bought and sold to numerous companies and passed around so as to generate as much profit as possible. I see games in boxes that cost $40, and I go online and find better quality games for half the price. Halo is $20? Yeah it's $20 because the game came out 6 years ago. Personally I believe that asking for all 3 RIP games PLUS a level editor or something extra for $20 is just greedy. But who cares, you got them all for free, right?

In reality paying $20 for a game is actually really good. If you're smart you can get them for less (or free ;) but that's how it is.

And do you actually believe that GGOTD games are priced 10 or 20 times their value? If so that would mean you believe most of the titles offered on GGOTD should be priced somwhere around $1 or $2. What planet are you on, Hempman?

Would have loved to play the 3rd game in this series, but your website was down last night so I missed out.

At #5:
I could switch weapons just using the 1-3 keys as expected. Not sure what the glitch is. This is another welcome improvement on the other RIP games I have played.

This game is an excellent diversion in the mould of Smash TV. The graphics are a significant upgrade from the other games in the RIP series and are large and well drawn. A little too large at times it seems, as it can make the game feel cramped in some levels. The upgrade system for your character is a welcome addition to the standard formula and some of the levels are more puzzle than shooter. However, as a whole they feel more generic than those in RIP Strikeback, which I played previously also thanks to GOTD. By no means an original game, but a fun one.

I tried in vain to download this all day on the 24th site was down. Earlier the download wouldn't start. I know it wasn't my computer, there must have been a glitch in the site. Too bad too, I think I would have really like that game.

Ah well, so many others.

"Jimmy Kolo known for the development of Windows Vista"

He better start at doing a PROPER job then, at long last. Vista sucks, it is a hopeless as Windows 95. And I cannot get RIP 3 to work.

Thanks for this game, this is my favorite in the series. I had lost all the games due to a reformat, so I am thrilled with the repeat.

Having loved the other two, I was waiting for this one, and I wasn't disappointed!

Something of a storyline, more characters to choose from, better upgrade system and more hectic than ever - that's RIP 3.

If you liked the others in the series, you'll surely love this one.

Many thanks for offering this and completing the series :)

Well done programming. Perhaps a bit too much mayhem for some people, but if you like shooters, this is the best of the series.

However, while RIP is a nice series, the price is way off reality base. Free is great. But, the prices listed are just way too high.

Nearly $20 for one RIP game, for example, is just too steep. All three for $20 is almost the right price. Throw in a character/scene/map editor with all three games, and RIP would be priced right at $20.

I recommend the free download. But, who pays $20 for such a simplistic game? It's not like this is anywhere near as good as any single Halo. And, you can get Halo for about $20.

Pricing is a major issue with all of the games on GGOTD. Every single game listed is priced at about two to three times it's actual value (like today's GOTD offering), with many priced ten to twenty times thier value.

I would highly recommend that if the publishers/authors want to _sell_ more games, that they seriously reconsider thier pricing. Take a look at similar offerings on CompUSA or Amazon, and anyone with a brain can see that the prices for these games are highly inflated.

BTW. I was able to find the registry keys for the RIP series, and transfered it to my sister's computer (she has no internet) by just recreating the registry entries on her computer. The games now come up as registered for her. I would surmise that this means that one can back these games up for reinstall.

I just added a text file to the provided ZIP with the registry information, and updated the readme text file to instruct not to run Activate.exe. But, instead, just the Setup.exe, then copy the registry information back to where it belongs.

I tried this game out and it seems to be OK, but there are some bad features (not bugs):

1) Can't adjust the screen size in game. There is a config file in the install directory you can edit but even if you change the screen size to 1920x1200 the game changes it back to 1024x768 on exit. When playing in the higher resolution mode, the play window is actually just a 1024x768 box in the corner of the screen, but the stat info are in the proper places on the bigger screen resolution.

2) The controller (MS wired XBox360 controller) doesn't work right. All the mappings are off and there is no way to change it in game or in any config file (that I could find). Mouse and keyboard really sucks IMO for this type of game. The 360 controller layout is: Analog stick movement (correct), X- rotate left, A - rotate right, back - Fire 1, start - Fire 2.

Looks like a nice game overall, but I won't be keeping it on the HD for long because of the 2 features listed above.

For #2....perhaps people who already own the game were giving it the thumbs up. Just because it's free today doesn't mean it brand spanking new, never before been seen by the public software. Jut my opinion, but logical.

#11: Congratulations, you commented on the GOTD on the page for commenting on the GGOTD. The collective IQ drops another few points as we struggle for visitors who can operate a web browser.

On topic: A very good game, a big improvement over the first two in the series. It seems to be bug-free and plays very nicely with Vista. The graphics are improved, and it's a bigger game, but mainly it's just that the game is more stable and bug-free than the earlier games in the series. Well worth a download IMO.

Since I am a Vista user it was very important they come out with this. The previous two offered did not work with Vista and would always freeze up at the loading screens.

The game is a great stress reliever from time to time.

It installs liike a breeze

Very nice SS.
But what i dont get is why do none of the screen savers support multiple monitor setups???
I mean they dont even black out the secondary monitors... or clone the image... or spend an extra 10 minutes and make a steched or extended display... i have been working with a multi-display for many years and have yet to find a GOOD & nice screen saver that works well on this setup.
Please start to consider us computer geeks that like lots-o-screens :)

The 3rd in the RIP series, this one has a storyline, although it is a real stretch to believability, but it is a game after all, so suspend that right away. :) The storyline helps to tie the level progression together however.

This one has more flexibility than the other 2 versions, it lets you use different mobile vehicles - tanks, helicopters as well as the stationary firing position and of course just walking around with your character depending on which level you are on.

You can look up the comments when it was previously offered, rather than me repeating it. What I find interesting about this series is that with some minor editing you can change every attribute in the game: ammunition, weapons, strength, explosives, etc. This can be quite handy if you are having a real issue finishing a level and don't mind a bit of 'help' finishing it. Don't overdo it however or you'll be launching nuclear warheads from your Uzi.

This version however it is not just mindless blasting away the way RIP 1 was. In this version, you do need to use some strategy to come up with an advantageous position to win a level or choosing which weapon you should be using to give you the best chance at winning a level.

One problem I had with the game was that I found you couldn't switch weapons, unless this offering has that glitch corrected?
