Don’t forget to check out 1993 Space Machine (54 keys available), a repeat of the limited giveaway from several weeks ago HERE and Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide (50 keys available) HERE. If you’ve played and enjoyed the co-op game left 4 Dead 1 or 2 you’ll probably like the Warhammer game as it is virtually the same apart from the environment and characters. You can play it solo or with friends, or join total strangers. Space Machine is a retro shmup, created back in 1993, then shelved due to disagreements between the original developers. It was rediscovered and cleaned up, then released to Steam recently. Both games are well worth entering the competition for.

A physics based platform game ported from android games.

Installation:

Jump Birdy Jump downloads to a 10.4 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives are able to save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 15.6 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Jump Birdy Jump

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop. three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

Introduction:

Jump Birdy Jump is a funny and very simple game with a charming chick that cannot fly yet. It's a he-chick and it is eager to get to its beloved girl who sits on a crossbeam and waits for it day and night. It's truly in love and it needs your help to find the way to her quickly. The obstacles are numerous but our protagonist is courageous and dexterous enough to overcome any difficulties. The level is short and entertaining as the game is designed for beginners. But it's easy only at first sight. In fact there is a special mechanism helping you to estimate exactly where the birdy will fly. Otherwise it may hurt itself, fall and lose a life. There are lots of other obstacles and you need to be really good at physics to get rid of them. For instance, there are lots of moving dangerous crossbars in Jump Birdy Jump, black stars and complicated spots that a bird needs to reach. The main goal is not only to jump until you reach the girl-bird. You also have to collect stars and gain some good quantity of points. At the end of each level there is a rank indicator that gives you marks for accomplishing the task. And you can easily replay if you want. Jump Birdy Jump is a great experience different from all those dynamic games. Here you need not only good reaction but also good eyesight to understand how fast and high the bird can move. You need to be a strategist to understand the way the things move and coordinate the flight. But all in all it's great fun - very light and amusing. Free to download now!

The Game:

Jump Birdy Jump is a physics based platform game with simple cartoon like graphics, ported over from android and iPhone games. The main aim of the game is to reunite two birds together, however the male bird has to overcome various obstacles to get to his beloved. On the way collect stars and aim to gain the top three star award, which is based on the number of stars you collect on your way to meet your beloved girl bird. There are 70 levels available at the moment (The developer has promised more levels in the future; though I think this may only be applicable to the android version). The developer has also included secret area's, which I've not found yet. As you progress through the levels they become more complex, with moving walls, switches that create new paths to follow and stars that intermittently turn black. If you touch a black star you die. In chapter 2-3 you'll be introduced to the bubble, which allows you to jump higher than usual and later still more obstacles such as moving black clouds that if touched will kill and useful items such as fans that enable you to redirect your bird when floating in a bubble are introduced.

To gain all the stars in later levels you'll have to sacrifice the faster finishing times, though some impossible looking stars can be gained just by moving your bird while on its perch. Beware of grey perches, that can only be used once. Stars not only give you your 1 2 or 3 star ratings they also unlock new chapters, for example I unlocked chapter 2 by collecting 26 out of the total of 30 stars. The number of stars are accumulated, i.e. each Chapters stars are carried forwards to the next Chapter to unlock chapter 3 I will require 40 stars. For Chapter 4 65 stars, Chapter 5 90 stars Chapter 6 120 stars and the last chapter number 7 145 stars. Each Chapter includes 10 levels. each with the potential to award you 30 stars. So the challenge is not to score the lowest number of stars on all levels. for me to progress to Chapter 3 I need 40 stars. Having only gained one star on two of the levels I started with a total of 26 stars, and need a further 14 stars to unlock the next Chapter. So at least 4 of the levels require at least two stars for me to gain 40 stars for the next Chapter, though if I could score 3 stars for each level I'd only need 9 stars to open Chapter 5.

You can replay any level you've previously unlocked. Useful when you've not attained the full complement of three stars awarded at the end of the level.

Conclusion:

A very simple but a satisfying platformer with realistic physics. The graphics are very simple and cartoonish in style, which makes this an ideal family game. One criticism I do have is that all the chapters I played (the first three) looked exactly the same apart from the additional elements that were introduced as you progressed e.g. the bubble, fan and black clouds. The background remains the same in all chapters, which is in my opinion a shame. It would have been better to see a change of environment in each chapter, giving the game a little more perceived depth. Maybe even add some animations in the back ground such as flying birds, a moving sun daytime. night cycles etc.

Having Problems?

If you are having problems installing today's game check the FAQ's thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game is blocked by their security (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not) because Themida code has been known to hide malware, so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though they are actually free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.

There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers new or fresh ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality? Giving such feedback instead of saying nothing or just saying this game is rubbish or good may bring more developers to the site, which could mean more and better games. Would 'you' give away thousands of copies of a game (or extra content for a game) away to a community that complains all the time instead of giving useful feedback? It only needs a few moments of your time.

This site could be transformed if only the community would be more forthcoming in their opinions of the games they are getting for free instead of complaining about the way this site has changed, for example, they don't like MPC games, they hate HOG's, have had enough of Match Three and Time Management games, or they want to see the latest version of Call of Duty or some other big name AAA game given away or that they don't like Steam games.
