Aah, bless:), we watched it on telly, quite moving.., now You know who's Cup will be going through the streets of Manchester at this week's Parade as the only one..(not trying to be mean to Man C, everyone has the same hopes for their Team, always feel sorry for Kids aspecially)
Sorry to hear You've been hurt in accident:(, hope Your Garden cheers You and Family up in every way, may it grow and flourish!(Ours is full of heady scents of Lilac bush and English laurel-Prunus laurocerasus, blooming next to each other at the moment, soon will be fragrant Honeysuckle weaved into Holly up to the top..) We are not as good gardeners, as we would wish, so tending to and trimming mostly. Sorry to be taking this space with none-game stuff and thank You once more.

.....................Moderator comment.................

Sorry for the late reply Fran; its always a pleasure to hold a conversation, even here. :) We're planning lots of stock including nice fragrant ones such as Honeysuckle, Lavender and Jasmine. The garden is full of Holly, especially down one side; around 140 feet of it, extending from the front garden right down to the bottom of the back garden (and separating us from the bottom gardens of two large houses). it's about 10 foot high apart from one at the bottom border that's over 40 feet. It's just been left to grow like a normal tree. The garden is already well stocked, but we want to add our own ideas to it as well. I've just employed a gardener (3 hrs a week) as I can no longer do what I'd like to do. I will be planning a fruit and veg garden at the bottom of the back garden as there's plenty of room. :) Can't wait to move in.

Hi Whiterabbit, thanks for further help. What I discarded into my bin was zipped giveaway File of Atlantis and related Folder containing all Giveaway installation Files for AQ. Previously I uninstalled Atlantis well and proper 3 times (that was last week) and my Uninstall Program got rid of all traces of it in my PC (drives, folders, registry, bla bla) - except for what I could find in the bin. Dragging Folder with installation Files out of the bin back to desktop and trying to carry on with Setup of this past giveaway(!) resulted in telling me where to go (to be polite, lol) So fiasco there.

Indeed the Demo of AQ opens properly, I don't however plan to keep it, I just tried to find out if it was possible to use Your solution. In this (my) case didn't work. Besides, - is it not common (for us, mortals, lol, not Moderators perhaps?) NOT being able to install PAST Giveaways any longer after "Giveaway Period of Software is Over"?? Please, there's nothing it seems left for me to do with last week's Game. I will in free time rummage some Forums, or google up what symptoms of "Resource Creator.." mean, why and when they occur, and what's more - why only on some PCs with identical OS and the rest - they manage to manifest/not manifest themselves. I repeat - my requirements met all the Game was asking for.. There MUST be another reason! Many thanks, I know how busy You are, so appreciate Your time and trying to help even more.
As to Wigan:) - You really have to be a football Fan to follow what that Win meant, not just deservedly for them, but ManU Supporters as well. That's all. Not everyone is crazy over football (like us:), and that's cool too.

:)

I've jut employed a gardener for my new garden (which is about a third of an acre and well stocked; there's no way I could look after it the way i would have been able to before my accident) He was telling me how pleased he was with the Wigan Man C. result as he was a staunch United supporter. He said he was going to their match this afternoon.

Does anyone know how to get the Level Editor to save a level you have created?

For those wondering why Whiterabbit would say this got an undeservedly low 35%, it should be noted that Wheemplay specializes in phone games. Ala Angry Birds and the like. These are not meant to stand up against full PC games in comparison.

Hi, thanks Whiterabbit for bringing Atlantis on board again. Got the Demo from Your link and installed, but the only traces of this Game (uninstalled 3x) of last weekend that I still had on my PC (yes indeed in my bin, I too have a habit of keeping stuff for a while there:) - was GGAOTD unzipped Atlantis Folder and when trying to set the App I was naturally told that giveaway was no more, end off:(, - hence Demo on it's own fails here since I cannot follow the rest of Your instructions. Shame.
I don't know why I got so uptight with this particular Game, and now not even any longer for the sake of game alone, lol, but for a fact I never came across that Resource Creator Window thing and sorting THAT in itself became bigger Quest than Title of this Game (oh I swear, it should be renamed something else, ha ha)

I can only add that I don't know how common it is in games installation to "produce" such obsticle and to be honest don't understand why some Folk can and some cannot make that Game going either. Guess, as usual, will have to google this problem up till I find out. Very annoying never the less!
Another thing - Hurray Wigan, now that did put a happy grin on our faces today:)..

...........................Moderator comment.............................

I'm sure this title will be around again next year. As for Wigan. I agree; it's always nice to see the underdog win. I was very pleased to hear they had won. Personally I don't know what the attraction is watching a group of over-paid guys kicking a bag of wind around. I'd much rather the money they get go to more deserving people like care workers, nurses and other underpaid professions.

I'm surprised you couldn't find the Atlantis folder in your recycle bin. If you found the zipped file maybe you didn't delete the installed game. Sometimes the giveaways I install try to install to the previous week or previouwsly installed games folder. Maybe check out those to see if the Atlantis folder is within. :)

After reading #13 I feel the same way I'm enjoying the game.

Thanks for your feedback PAM. I think most of these flash games we get from Wheemplay are actually quite good for what they are. Great time fillers. especially if you've only got a few moments. You can jump in and out at the drop of a hat. Remembering how to play isn't a problem either. I've got games that I've not played for ages for example my Silent Hunter collection (II, IV and V) as well as loads of rts games that require time to get to know the controls. My helicopter flight sim has over 300 key bindings. Whenever I return to these games it takes me days to to refamiliarize myself with the keys, lol. :)

Seeing all the thumbs down I wasn't going to bother downloading this but as I give more weight to Whiterabbit-uk's opinion, after reading his commentary I thought I'd give it a try. Let me say, I am having a ball playing it! No problems downloading/playing. A fun little game!

Took a while to find the N, the rest was no problem at all, also the 1337$p34k was no trouble. Already had the game, good for few hours when making your own levels. I was wondering, are custom levels exportable? and if so, could this community not be able to create a new levelpack for download trough the forums (after being inspected by the GGOTD team) or even trough the main site?
Thanks wheemplay and GGOTD

This little game installed without any problems on my XP 3. I like the physics games and just wish there were more levels to solve. I'm not creative enough to invent my own levels. Also liked the additional colors in the game.

Thank you, GGOTD team and Stephen for all you do for us. Also special thanks to Fubar for the Brain games. The only one that gave me any trouble was the 6. Had to really look for that one. Just let my brain take over for all the others.

Hi Derek, I'd already posted the link you've provided in my review above, but thanks for posting it again.

Yes you are right, but some community members prefer to have a downloaded version (I'm one of them). I don't like playing games in a browser. I find the peripheral items on whatever web page I'm on distracting.

Hi, Whiterabbit-uk. You can't enable Aero in Windows 8, Microsoft removed the code. There are references online, but they don't really work. Yes, you can generally remove vowels. Actually, most of the information is in the upper half of the Latin alphabet, you can draw a line through the middle of words and see that the upper half is generally the most relevant. You and your English readers might find the following interesting (varies depending upon font, IE 10 may have automatically corrected some of it):

Thanks for the feedback on Aero. Thats a real pity, but i'm strill really pleased with win 8. It did take some getting used to, but now I've been using it for about a month its become second nature.

I installed Start Menu X, so now my desktop appears within a second of the OS booting up and i haver a start button. That said, i was coping quite well without it before i decided to install the program. :)

Interesting excercise; the only one I had problems with was finding the Q. :)

edit: ghaha found the Q, I thought the little tail on the O was a speck of dust on my monitor, lol

This game has spoil my saturday....site admin, please says no to wheemplay games because every wheemplay games did not liked by GOTD users & this is proven by user ratings...!!!

........................Moderator Comment........................

Hi dharmang. The user ratings really have no bearing on how popular Wheemplay games are. Many of the negative votes are cast by community members who haven't even bothered to download the game. (This can be backed up by the fact that within minutes of the game going live and before anyone could have downloaded, installed and played the game properly their is a large number of negative votes.

If you read the comments they are actually generally quite positive.

Also you don't see the number of download. Wheemplay games get around 5000 downloads over the 24 hour period of the giveaway. Granted, that's on the low side for game giveaways (the average is about 10 000), but it still shows that 5000 community members have downloaded this game. I would wager that many of those community members that vote negatively and post negative comments didn't actually download and play the game.

Finally, any game is better than no game at all. There will always be someone who finds the game interesting even if 90% or more of the community didn't like it and, its not like we are paying anything for these games (unless you are on a capped broadband connection, but even then, the cost is microscopic.

Not sure why all the thumbs down unless don't like Wheemplay's approach to games. I have liked playing their other interesting physics-based games. Sometimes they are not quite perfect - small glitches in accuracy of shots or drops - but they have been fun, play things to spend time resting or relaxing from other computer tasks.

Do try them out. Give some feedback, or at least give some indication why you put a thumbs down. GGAWOTD (Whiterabbit) goes out there so we can play things for free and as he usually states - developers are more willing to put their stuff out there for free if they can get some feedback so they can improve their products. :-)

Thank you for your feedback Thaijay. I agree. They may seem oversimplified, but they can be used for brief breaks between other work/games, and I think they are great educational games for younger children; teaching them basic physics.

I don't mind them at all. My score of 6.2 was based on what I think the community thinks (using the experience I've had moderating these comments for the past five years). Personally I'd give the game a higher score; say, in the region of 7+. The inclusion of a level editor makes this a more interesting game IMO; with the ability to create your own lewvels it adds another layer of 'fun'. I do hope we see some custom made levels from the community uploaded and then linked to in the forums. :)

Perhaps this is the more friendly approach for children to let out their frustration on a game. Game is very simplistic in goal but the physics are surprisingly accurate for a game built on flash. Your mileage may vary depending on the processor speed one has. 99 cents does seem like a decent price for a game that quickly allows you to escape for a quick game break but not really anything more.

Wish there was more to do in this game.

To all community members that experienced problems getting last weekends game, Atlantic Quest past the Atlantis Resource Creator window. Christiane found a simple fix that worked. The original fix isn't possible now because the giveaway version isn't available any longer. Basically you installed the Playrix demo first then installed the gamegiveaway version over that.

There may be an alternative method available assuming you still have the game installed (If you deleted it, check your recycle bin- if you are like me I tend to only empty it very occasionally, so chances are its still recoverable). Basically do as above but instead of reinstalling the giveaway version, cut (or copy) it from its present position and paste it over the newly installed Playrix version. I can't guarantee that this will work, but it's worth trying. I also suggest you firstly start up the demo so as to run through the Atlantis Resource Creator setup first (this is a one off process, so once run should allow the giveaway version to work), then close it down before pasting the giveaway version over the demo.

You will need to make sure when installing the demo that you don't overwrite the game giveaway version by changing the installation path. Let me know if you manage to get the game working following this method. :)

You can download the Playrix demo HERE

Hit the Troll:

Capturescreen grab
hit the troll 007
Installation:

Hit the Troll downloads to an 17.2 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked (because the previous giveaway system was easily cracked). This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive.

The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006. (The owners know that allowing such things would compromise their buisness, so they make sure all software given away via the giveaway and gamegiveaway sites are throughly checked for all types of malware before allowing community members to download any files.

Some community members have been having problems installing games since the security software was added. It's been found that turning off your security temporarily or configuring it to accept the setup.cgd file usually sorts the problem out.

To register and install the game click on the orange colored icon. The installed game is MB in size. and installs to the following path by default:

C:\Games\hit the troll.exe

If you still have the original installed it won't overwrite it. The icon image is different as is the size. The latest version is 720KB smaller than the one given away last July.

The path can be changed to suit whatever your wishes are. Once the game is installed you can delete the giveaway setup files. As with all Wheemplay games the executable is installed directly into the games folder with no folder of its own. You can create a folder for the game during the installation process. There isn't a shortcut or uninstaller installed to either the desktop or Start menu programs list so you'll have to create those yourself as well.

The game works on both my Win 7 & Win 8 computers.
I don't have a Vista or XP installation set up at the moment (and won't for several months until we move house later this year).

Introduction:

Hit the Troll was previously given away last year (July 2012). It received (in my opinion) an undeserved 35% % positive votes out of 359. There were 24 comments which can be seen HERE .

Hit the Troll is a typical Wheemplay physics based flash game with colorful but simple graphics. Todays Wheemplay game does include a simple level editor so the initial 20 levels can be bolstered by creatuing your own. We could create a thread over in the forums where community members could share their creations by uploading to various free file sharing sites. :)

Clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Full Description: Clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Each shape has its own specifications and special abilities like weight, explosions and elasticity!

If you want to try the game before you download onto your computer there are online versions that you can play for free.. For example from Kongregate HERE one link. :)

The Game:

The aim of the game is to clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Each shape has its own specifications and special abilities like weight, explosions and elasticity! There are 20 levels to work through plus a simple to use level editor to make your own levels. To play custom made levels click on the Custom Level button from the main menu.

If you make a wrong move you can move back using one of the buttons found at the bottom left; either to redo a move or go back to the level selection screen, alternatively you can use the shortcut keys R for restart. As you progress through the levels they become more complex. You can only use each shape once on each level. Initially you'll only need to use one, but as they get harder you'll need all three shapes to remove the trolls.

How to Play:

Aim and shoot the shapes by using mouse and left mouse button.
M – Mute
R – Restart
T – Troll

Conclusion:

As with all Wheemplay games Hit the Troll is a basic physics game with simple rules. You can easily work through the 20 levels that are provided in less than an hour; thankfully a levels editor is provided for those who want to play more levels.
When I saw the game for the first time I though "this is going to be too basic", but despite the simple graphics I enjoyed working through the levels. I easily worked through the first several without even having to think what I was foing, but the complexity of later levels forced me to have to restart the level a few times before I was able to clear the board. :)

Overall I'd give this game a 6.4 out of 10. If there had been double the number of pre-made levels I'd have given it a 7. not everyone enjoys creating their own levels, so the game is over far to quickly with just 20 levels.

Scoring:

Gameplay: 7
Graphics: 6
Sound & Music: 5
Replayability: 8 (I've scored this high because of the level editor)
Originality: 6

Total = 6.4

Problems:

If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and sometimes the grace period lasts for up to 2 hours, but more often than not 1 hour is the norm.

It’s always worth checking out the free games sites as sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 800 games to choose from. Today's game isn't available.
If you do download any other games from MPC or the other free game sites (e.g. Jenkatt Games, Gametop or FreeGamePick) 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you uncheck the checkboxes during installation .

Steams weekend deals include 33% off the latest Call of Duty game i.e. Black Op's II, plus you can play the multiplayer part of the game for free all weekend. There's 75% off the first person perspective tower defense game Sanctum and also you can play this one for free all weekend. (I don't think the dlc's are included in the free play). If you pre-order the latest Sanctun 2 you'll get the just released Super sanctum TD game for free (usually costs £2.99/$4.50) There's 25% off the recently released Trials Evolution Gold Edition, 75% off the Bit Trip collection, 67% off Special Forces: Team X, 50% off Trainz Simulator plus most of the dlc's, 75% off Avencast: Rise of the Mage, 50% off g o home Dinosaurs, 50% off Retro city Rampage, 75% off Jack Keane, 50% off Oil Rush, 75% off the ankh series. You'll find at least 60 games on sale at the moment on Steam with discounts from 10% to 75%. You'll find all the deals via the Specials tab on Steams front page HERE. The 24hr deal is 50% off Castle Crashers a tower defence game with hand drawn characters.

On sale over at at GreenManGaming is 50% off the Steamworks version of Shattered Haven, 50% off the Steamworks version of a Valley without wind 1 & 2, plus there's a 20% off voucher available that can be used against selected games. Check all GMG deals HERE.

You can get the recently released Steamworks version of Shattered Haven for 70% off via GreenManGaming if you use the 20% off voucher in conjunction with the 50% off Deal. I got the game for £2.80 (approx $4) instead of £6.99 (approx $10).

You'll find the deal HERE.

You'll find many more game deals from Gamersgate, Gamestop, Greenman Gaming and GOG; all of which you can find via the Didimatic site, which I've linked to above (apart from Greenman gaming - GMG which I've included a separate link above).

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price.

You can get a free arcade game via Alawar's game box, just click the free game tab. It changes approximately every month If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand.

The latest IndieGameStand game is Stardrone which you can get for $1. If you want the extra's pay the average price which is usually less than $2. Stardrone ends around 4am Sunday GMT.

There's also several indie bundles over at Indiebundle.org. Each bundle has three games and costs $5 each for the basic bundle plus a few dollars more for extras. you'll also find some Indie bundlkes available such as the groupees and Indie Gala bundles. All bundles are excellent value for money, most of which your paying less than $5 for several games that would usually cost you a lot more. You'll find links to all of these bundles in the Game discussion forums

A Request for help:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you've checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
