downloaded and installed played long enough to get into it then it just disappeared from my machine no explaination just gone

.....................Moderator Comment..........................

Hi Becky, that just doesn't make sense. It couldn't just disappear unless it was accidentally deleted or a clean up program cleared it away. Maybe the shortcut was moved or deleted. Check the path that it should have been installed to. Off the top of my head it's usually C:/Program Files/Playrix Entertainment/Call of Atlantis/Call of Atlantis.exe

I am disappointed with Atlantis Quest; I guess I was expecting it to be something like Call of Atlantis which in my opinion was so much better than this game that there is really no comparison.

Hi Whiterabbit, sorry I didn't get back here earlier, we had Family over on Sun/Mon holiday weekend, and last night I just checked this Site remembering there might had been some advice or solution. Thank You so much for Your attention! Aaaah, I didn't see that last piece of help on the day till it was too late, so I suppose I'll never know what was the explanation (really) for this "bummer"??..Never mind, next time, or from somewhere else.

PS.I smilled reading You are from Manchester area, so is my Husband:), true Mancunian (err, is it safe, lol, ManU fan, always and still, I love Corrie out of nostalgia.. and all, our first home was in Higher Backley near Middleton, both our Girls born there too, but after 6 years we left and emigrated to Suffolk, ages ago now, small World, eh?:) Greetings from Bury St.Edmunds.

Hi Fran, yep it is. We live far enough out of the city to feel like we are living in nice countryside. The City centre is just 16 miles away if I go via Stockport, but if I go the fastest way, its 20 miles (via the A34)

Not if you still have the game installed. Install the demo somewhere other than where the gibveaway version is installed. then copy the giveaway version over to the demo.

OS = Operating System

I have 4 computers, 3 run XP and the new one runs Windows 7....I didn't want Vista and I certainly don't want to try 8 due to the problems that it has............

Sorry if I am late to the party, but I was out eating Mexican food and drinking Margaritas

HGi Suki, honesrlt, don't believe everyting you read about Win 8. I was sceptical myself, but still went ahead and purchased a copy when it was first released, then a second copy for my wifre as a stocking filler at christmas. I didn't install then until last month, and then only because I was forced into it after discovering (over a year after purchasing them) that some of my win 7 licences were not genuine copies. So I installed one copy initially. I found the interface a little confusing at first, especially with no start button and not booting to the desktop on boot up. But I quickly got used to it and now think its a brilliant operating system. I've installed the second one and have oedered a third copy. I do miss the aero function so will be keepiong a couple of Win 7 systems running, but honestly, win 8 is great. If you have that Start up program that we were given some months ago 9and was free on BDJ a few weeks ago you can force Win 8 to boot up to the desktop at bopot up and give you a start button. So, for me the only thing missing is Aero, The benefits of win 8 far outweighot the lack of Aero. I wouldn't be surprised if somoe eonoterprising developer creates an app to allow aero in the near furture.

What I find amazing is you can still pick up Win 8 Pro for less than £50 in the UK yet Win 7 Pro is still over a hundred pounds (approx $150) or if you want the Ultimate edition its £170 (approx $255)

I'm not sure if it gave me any sort of error or window the first time I ran it on Win7x64, but it didn't work and the task had to be killed. I changed the compatibility mode to XP SP3 and then it ran with a dialog telling me it was unpacking the game which it only had to do once. Once it was done and running, I played for a few minutes then quit. I unchecked the XP compatibility mode and ran it again, and this time it ran fine. So presumably Win7x64 only had a problem with the unpacker.

Seems pretty basic compared to Call of Atlantis, but still more fun than many other match-3 games.

Hi, thanks Whiterabbit, I was (am) baffled by this strange behaviour of Atlantis Quest, but I guess I'm resigned to pass on this particular Giveaway - not even knowing which System Requirements exactly this Game didn't meet.. (out of all similar Games?), more the pity. If McAfee is responsible in any way for this - it didn't warn me to even consider dismissing it as false possitive. Ah well:(
Enjoy the rest of our Bank Holiday in UK, hope it's as sunny tomorrow where You are as it is here in Suffolk, real blast!:)

Hi Fran, did you try the fix that Christiana suggested and which I posted at the head oF my review? Someone else confirmed that it did work.
Yes we've been having beautiful weather up here in Cheshire as well. Can't believe how late the season has been with all the tree flowers coming late. My beautiful Camelia only started flowering a few weeks ago, usually it starts mid February. (I live just south of Manchester, in a place called Poynton - borough of Macclesfield)

Can you recommend a good hosting provider at a fair price?
Thank you, I appreciate it!

The giveaway team use Wordpress. My son is obsessed with Minecraft. I purchased 2 alpha versions for a couple of pounds each when it was first released a few years back. I played it for a couple of months but became bored of it, but that was before it took off. My son keeps trying to get me to play it again. :) I doubt you'll get it for free for a long time unless you got it from a file sharing site, but even then, you wouldn't be able to play the multiplayer part of the game becasue you need to have an account which you can only get if you have purchased the game. It may appear in one of the Indie bundles eventually, but its still so popular I doubt it will for a couple of years yet. At least not until there are hundreds of clones. (There's already 20 plus games that have copied the basic premis).

I have played this game well over 10X since downloading it last year. It continues to be one of my favorites. I was upset when I formatted and found I had lost it and hadn't thought enough to back up the install on a USB thumb. I found it on GameTop and downloaded it. Took me 2 days because I have dial up and once I had the download, I quickly copied it to a USB thumb. I got a newer system and was happy I could install it on my newer system. It installs on my XP Pro SP 3 cleanly and efficiently, I have no troubles playing. It gets a bit tedious on the music, but, I turn it off and play my own on a player while I play the game. Awesome game! thanks GGOTD for it!

........................Moderator comment.............................

Thank you for your feedback Deborah. you could exchange the music for something yopu really like. I've explained in my review how to do it. It's quite simple.

I installed the game as described in comment 70. Works fine on a Win8 system. Thanks for this game! I have one small wish: any chance of Age of Japan as GameGiveAway?

Today's game is a decent match 3 game, with the same idea as Call of Atlantis. First levels are simple, I hope later on there are the same difficult levels as Call of Atlantis.

I have read the FAQ’s section over in the game discussion forums.
I am not on Firefox or ever have been.

Downloads ok but when I click on install and it checks with GGOTD then the screen goes back to the upzip files screen. Have also tried a few lower screen resolutions. No error messages at all. Unistalled using cclean and downloaded and attempted to install again. Nothing system heavy is running in the background.

YES, a fix for the problem many of us have been getting. thanks to Christiane for the suggestion and confirmed by Ramu and me.

Download the demo from Playrix and install that first, then install the game giveaway version over that. The game should then work.

http://www.playrix.com/games/pc/atlantis-quest.html

p.s. installing the Playrix demo then copy/pasting the already installed game over the playrix demo may also work, but installing the demo over the giveaway version doesn't work.

Also delete the playrix shortcut before installing the gamegiveaway version.

Please confirm that it worked for you too. Thanks.

I've tried this today on 6 laptops/desktops running various OS. Of the 6 only 2 didn't come up with this problem and they are 2 laptops NOT running Mcaffee antivirus. Might be coincidence but maybe some virus progs are causing the problem. Oh and game seems good!!!

Looks like an enjoyable game. I played a few levels, and have an annoying problem. I am running win 7 64 Home premium. I have many games downloaded (and I appreciate your eforts on GGOTD so much) and have not had this problem before. The game mouse cursor flickers constantly, and seems to lag a little. There seems to be no option to change it to another, or to the win mouse. The flickering is very distracting. Any ideas on how to fix this nagging problem?

I have windows 7, home premium, x64. I try playing it and could not click on anything, my screen also was flickering. I use task manager to close it then started it again from the game icon. Now it plays well. Any one having trouble starting the game from first install, might have to close it then restart the game.

I've been out all day (since posting my review without images this morning). I'd meant to add some images after a cat nap, but something cropped up and I've been away all day. I will get around to replying to all comments if needed later.

At the moment my son has friends round and I've let them use my computers for a LAN party. They will be finished in less than 2 hours at which point I'll work through all of the comments that need replies.

regards

Whiterabbit :)

p.s.

With respect to the problem running this game. I also haven't been able to run the game on either my Win 7 or win 8 computers despite it saying in my revciew you could. I use a copy of a previous review as a copy to save time having to retype titles to paragraphs etc. I'd forgotten to take out the reference to Win 7 & 8.

Community members from the last time this was given away did get it to work although some had the same problem (as I did). Seems like it may be the way Windows is set up on our computers, or maybe something is missing. I've not installed things like .net etc yet since installing Win 8 last month.

Oddly, downloading and installing the MyPlayCity version and it works fine.

Hi again, installed Atlantis in 3 different places now: external drive, where most of my games live, including Playrixs, with plenty of room to install, as well as on C:,in Games, later on in Prog Files(x86) - after reading advice given to John @3 ("Atlantis Resource Creator" message on startup not shifting, Game not opening) - that perhaps there is not enough memory, or Game "didn't like" to be installed were it was.

My situation - Win 7 Home Premium (on Dell Inspiron 5720), 64-bit OS, Intel Graphics, 8GB RAM, over 800GB free space left on C:...
Any clues why I get the same message as John and Others? I'm going to uninstall it 3rd time, don't know what else is left?:(

Really really disappointed. Getting the same experience as 3 & 6. Running XP. Plenty of HD spce, 119 gb, also tried on external HD which has 139gb free but no joy there either. Turned off anti-virus but no improvement. Tried installing in a different folder, Games. Nothing. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times till I'm sick of it. Getting that dialogue box “Atlantis Resource Creator”. Have had this game before and it's really good and I really wanted it.

Win 7 32 Bit: Downloads and plays just fine and this is an all time favorite of mine.

I have beta tested for Playrix, but this was before I began testing.

This is an excellent Match 3 game, with some strategy involved to get the pieces to the bottom. Great graphics, 'pretty' as my granddaughter would say. Can't comment on sound as explained below.

I tend to listen to Audible, (currently listening to Joe Hill's newest) or have my embroidery machine going while playing these as a way of relaxing, and I am so thankful for the wonderful game companies who donate here.

Thank you Playrix for another awesome game, one I know that I can have a lot of fun playing with my grandchildren as well.

Also TY to the staff of GGOTD, my blog is in development, and I already have your banner up, it was the first one I snagged.

Did you get your carpentry work done?

Be safe and if you can, would love to see more Time Management games. Clickity Click lol

#8 This is normal when something is running in the background and they are competing for the screen. Go to Options and change from full screen mode to windowed mode and see what is going on while the game is running. I find it's usually Adobe or HP wanting to update something and flashing just above the task bar.

I works fine on Win 7x64 and I am not having a cursor problem but the graphics look old and tired on a 1080p monitor. May try running on lower res or just put it back on the Win XP machine, where it looked fine. Thanks for bringing this back.

First game from GameGiveaway for a while worth downloading (not aimed at toddlers or young girls) and mine also sticks on the Atlantis Resource Creator dialog box, running Win 7. Plenty of hard drive space, tried installing to C drive as Ootje suggests but no go.

Sorry, I know its a good game, but uninstalled and thumbs down from me as program is clearly buggy/not properly geared up for Win 7.
