Unfortunately I am unable to post a full review of today's time management game due in part to spending most of yesterday ensuring my daughter was fully packed for her university course, which starts on Monday as well as finishing off fixing up her gaming laptop, which required updating with new SSD's and an operating system. We are taking her to her accommodation early this morning, (we will be on our way before this game goes live and expect to be away until early evening), so I don’t have time to play this game for more than a few moments (between 0.30am to 1.15am) this morning.
Hidden World

In Brief
A time management game with an evil wizard. :)

The Game:
I don’t usually enjoy playing TM games, but I found this one quite entertaining and easy to play, due in part to the non timed relaxed mode that is available as an option, which I definitely prefer; there's also an active timed mode; which I rarely enjoy and always feel stressed out after playing timed modes, especially if I keep missing out on the awards because I was too slow. From the look of the graphics and resolution of my screen captures, this game looks quite old and does not support wide screen monitors (If playing on the default full screen, at least a third of the left and right sides of the monitor will be black, leaving a squarish window); though in windowed mode the black panels disappear. You’ll also notice as the game boots up that your screen resolution will change to a much lower resolution unless you are still using an old CRT monitor (evident because your desktop icons will increase in size), but this will revert back to normal when you close the game down.
I scrolled through several pages of You Tube videos and couldn’t find any videos of game play; however, there is a full review of Hidden World over on Gamezebo, which you can find HERE; that says, the game is fast-paced with a long playing time, a fair (generous) timer if playing the action mode, and with gorgeous visuals and a motivating reward system for fulfilling bonus tasks. It also has a unique and interesting mechanic w.r.t. the main game elements. The only negatives said were that towards the end of the game levels started to feel a little repetitive and for the City Building part of the game a wider choice of buildings would have been welcome. Personally for an arcade game of this type, I thought the city building part was actually one of the best I'd seen in any arcade game, apart from maybe the Build-a-Lot series of games, but they were dedicated city building arcade games whereas Hidden World includes a more diverse collection of game modes. That said, the city building does not compare to any of the AAA city building games such as the Sim City, Cities and Anno franchise as well as other AAA city building games. I’ve also posted screen captures of the early part of the game, but I've not gone into any detail w.r.t. the game play as I didn't have time unfortunately. hopefully someone from the community will post a synopsis of the game..... hopefully. :).

If today’s game doesn’t appeal to you and you still need a game fix, there are always alternative freebies available, or you could check out some of the indie bundles that are available via Indie Gala and the Humble bundle; there are lads of different indie bundles available , but the two i mentioned consistently include decent games that are worth buying, especially at the prices being asked, whereas 'most' of the other indie bundles that are still available tend to include a lot of those £0.79p games most of which are rubbish, though there are exceptions such as the Fanatical bundles (formerly called Bundle Stars). The latest Epic game available for free is Conarium (an atmospheric and chilling Lovecraftian walking simulator horror adventure game worth £15). Next week; Thursday 19th September the game changes to another one that hasn't been announced yet. Also, check out Indie Gala for lots of freebies (20+) HERE. They add new games regularly (at least 2 or 3 every week) via their Developers showcase section; whereas some are removed. you can add them to your indie Gala library and/or download a free standing version of each game (some even have Mac versions to download). Recent additions include HERE (a bloody love story between Bunny and Carrot not suitable for children due to blood and gore, despite having a childish graphic style), Lucid Nina, Journey of a Roach, Welcome To... Chichester OVN 2 : Master Tormentor Grendel Jinx !?, Hell Cat Redux, Lady’s Hentai Mosaic, Pixel Hentai mosaic; (some of the latter titles include adult content), plus Land it Rocket (moon lander type game), Poly Golf a simple top down golf game), Pixel Hentai Mosaic (adult content), Five Nations (A futuristic real-time strategy game that follows the events of a mind-bending opera of space about the survival of humanity.) and Snake Eyes Dungeon (a dice based dungeon crawler).
Ubisoft have a special on at the moment HERE that ends on the 30th September, where you can play loads of AAA games for free by signing up for a monthly deal. you can cancel the deal before the end of the free period and there’s no charge. Otherwise it costs $12.99 per month thereafter. Games include all the Assassin Creed games, all the Tom Clancy games, plus loads more games such as the Crew, Rayman Origins, Watch dogs 1 and 2, Prince of Persia franchise, Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, Anno' franchise, From Dust, Track-mania franchise, and loads more (around 200 games to choose from).

Thank you for the game. Yes you do have to disable your antivirus program but once it starts to load then you can start your antivirus back up for the rest of the process. I normally would use that special (can not be named engine) but it wouldn't start the game so I started the game via the original start. After the first game I was then able to go back to my other start button. wink wink. All in all a good game, a little more work than the others I have played but I got to level 6 so will try it again when I am bored.

Hey Wabbit,
"my daughter was fully packed for her university course, which starts on Monday"

You know it was bad enough when your son went and did this..But NOW!!!! Your daughter too. Tell them to stop making me feel old!

Thanks for the review and Thanks to MPC and GGOTD for the game.

Not a fan of TM games so unless someone posts something about this game being extraordinary won't be downloading. I will keep an eye on the page though.

Don't have time to play today. Posting to remind folks that when there's a Big Fish game, u can click on the Big Fish webpage in the bue info block - where you have system requirements, size, and so on, and it will take you to their page which includes reviews. This 1 got a 4 out of 5 in 27 reviews. As I read them, they are mostly positive but mixed in 1 sense. Many love the relaxed, but many still talk about a lot of clicking and some say easy, but others say not an easy game to finish. Probably the former for fast clicking TM vets, the latter for relaxed players. Seems that level 42 trips up some, and most levels have portals that open to let meddling wizards in, and that's the games major obstacle. One interesting thing mentioned by 1 reviewer is that you can speed your workers up by clicking on them. Your the haranguing foreperson I guess. :P If so, that's an interesting departure from other games. This could be one of those games where subtle strategy is the key. Finding ways to reduce all the clicking. Or, could be relaxed players will enjoy early levels, but get frustrated with late ones. Without playing, I can only speculate. Still looks like it would be "worth a flyer", so I'm downloading. If it's your cup of tea, enjoy!

Best of luck to your daughter - hope she thoroughly enjoys her time at university! And of course gets the best of results to finish with.

Family comes first. Thanks for your review, as ever.
