Funky Farm Thanksgiving Edition was available as a giveaway on November 22, 2007!
Turkeys have never been this funky! A cornucopia of farming fun!
Fatten up your turkeys in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner... but watch out! Those gobblers will knock down anything or anyone in the way of their own supper!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Windows 98/2000/Me/XP; DirectX 8.0 or better

$19.99
decent gameplay for awhile
but really didn't like the lack of any options to turn off sound, go windowed or well anything. But as a free game thank you GAOTD... but would consider a waste of money to pay for it.

Thanks so much for this game. It may not be the absolute best game on the market, as some people are complaining about. But it really is a rather fun game, and in the spirit of the holiday. Just wanted to tell you all that I appreciate the effort you go to to run a site a like this and to bring us entertaining games every day.

Well it's free an I don't mind or complain. to me it's always a good time to breakaway from daily routine. Not such a bad game, after all, even though a bit old-skool.

Hmmm... Does anyone plan to sit in front of a pc when turkey is on the table and the Packers are playing! Not me...

I decided to try this game even though it's not the sort I normally would play. It downloaded and installed without a problem. However, I uninstalled it before I even got started with the tutorial. For me it gets a HUGE thumbs down because there are NO options to select. You can't turn off the music.
I may be strange but I DO NOT like music playing while I play games. I like sound effects but NOT music and I always turn it off. Obviously, I'm not alone as most games have separate options for the two types of noise.
This game has no options whatsoever. Not for the screen (full/windowed) or the sound.
Uninstalled! Thanks GGOTD anyway but I'll check back tomorrow. I know you can never please everybody and I've gotten quite a few good games here. Maybe tomorrow's game will be more to my liking!

OK, played this for a while and what I don't like is this version always goes back to level one if you don't meet your goal (unless I'm doing something wrong). If you hadn't played the other version, it probably wouldn't matter but I enjoyed being able to start at the level where you were and how you still had the same animals as when you failed the level.
Other than that, I still love it! 7/10 as well :).

Game seems like fun and it's nice to be able to kick back after a hard day and enjoy playing such a nice game especially for Thanksgiving. Good one this time; kids and adults alike will love this today. Thanks for such a nice game again! And happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Hey Retroboy, does your screename mean you like old style games? Sometimes the way a game is played is the fun, not just the modern look. Whether it's farm animals or space aliens, managing these critters is tough!
Thanks GGotD and Sortasoft. Great update on a cute game for Thanksgiving Day in America, when turkey is served as a traditional dish.
And according to the terms of service of the game - I promise I will spend a little less time working every day and a little more time playing games and listening to music;-p

LOVE this game. I downloaded it the other two times it was on but took it off for the space, but I'll get it again. Turkey twist is cute, even though it's not Thanksgiving here. I look forward to playing it again :)

This game is basically Funky Farm which has been given away twice since June 07. With 10 extra levels added which feature turkeys. Probably an ideal addition for thanksgiving, although I think it would be better received as a 10 level add-on pack to Funky Farm that should have either been free to the customers who bought Funky Farm or at least only a nominal fee as opposed to a full priced arcade game.
I do think that software developers/distributors that do this are taking the Mickey out of their faithful customers, who should be able to get the extra 10 levels without having to buy the whole game again. (much like Jets & Guns and Jets and Guns Gold, although I thought the extra levels you got with the gold version were worth it as it was basically two full games in one plus new stuff)
The Game:
There is no separate activation module with today’s game, so for those who are relatively new to the project, don’t worry about registration , because the game is automatically registered during the installation, provided you are connected to the internet. I thought it would be useful to include links to the original comments because the game is basically Funky Farm without the extra turkey orientated levels, which play the same as the rest of the game:

The following is my comment from June with a few slight changes only as I couldn’t see the point of writing a totally new review. I’ve left the screen capture links as they were originally because they were placed in such a way to complement the review. Although I know this irritated some people, so I’ve also posted a link to the full page of images at the bottom of this review:
The screenshots provided above with the introduction to this game tell you enough about the game, with respect to graphics. Not the best I’ve seen, but for an arcade game of this type, they are fine. When you first unzip and start the installation process you’ll be presented with the license agreement; it’s probably the most original license agreement I’ve ever seen, lol:
It states:
I promise I will spend a little less time working every day and a little more time playing games and listening to music.
The game menu is very simple, with only three options; Play, Tutorial and Quit. There is no options menu, which means no toggles to turn the music and sound effects off, no instructions on how to play the game, apart from the tutorial, and there are no descriptions of the tools and other things you can buy in the shop. Although if you go into the games folder following the path:
The drive you installed the game onto\Games\Funky Farm Thanksgiving\data\en
You will find two notepad documents, one contains all the instructions from the tutorial and the other gives you all the tool tips information. If you’ve not played the game before it may be an idea to check out these two documents. The tips document is easier to read. You can even check out the personal names of the main animals you will find in the game such as the sheep, wolves, dogs and pigs, but no mention of turkeys lol, by following the path below.
The drive you installed the game onto\Games \Funky Farm Thanksgiving\names\en
Game Menu:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/funky%20farm/Funkygamemenu.gif
With no instructions you’ll probably start with the tutorial button. This is a good idea (obviously) as you will be told via about 15 prompt windows what to do. The game is easy to learn, but don’t think it’s easy to progress through the levels once you get past the first few. There seems to be no specific goal except for attaining a certain amount of profit before the end of each level. If you don’t gain the stated profit then the game ends. Each level is timed. And you start with a new higher target and a specific amount of cash, which varies with each level depending upon what you made in the previous round and what you had deducted for the tools you purchased. You can see these figures at the bottom of the playing area.
Tutorial Images:

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/funky%20farm/Funkytutorial003.gif
The tutorials take you through the basic controls. The game is reasonably simple. You make money by either shearing your sheep to produce wool, or slaughtering them with a cleaver. You can purchase more animals during each level up to the limit of your funds. As levels progress different animals become available; (although the only farm animals I’ve seen so far are sheep, pigs and Sheep dogs as well as a wolf/fox)
You must keep the grassy area relatively free of muddy areas because if your sheep are on them, they no longer produce wool. The longer you leave each sheep grazing, the more money the wool will be worth. The same goes for the pigs. The longer they eat the swill that you buy in, the more money they will be worth, either by slaughtering them, or rounding them up near the end of the game. (You will be prompted to do this)
You start the game with sheep, and then pigs are added in level 2. Level three sees the introduction of foxes and sheep dogs. Provided you attain the specified target by the end of each level you are allowed to progress to the next level.
In game images:

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/funky%20farm/Funkyingameshotlevel004.gif
The end of level screen (see below) tells you how much you earned. The target amount is deducted from this. You will also be given tips to help you attain your targets, so make sure you read these before progressing to the next level, (although as I mention above you can access these from the games folder). At the end of each level you will be given the opportunity to purchase better or new tools, see the shop image below) using the profit you made in the previous level. Spend this wisely, because it becomes progressively harder to attain your targets as the game progresses. (I lost after level 3, my excuse is that I was stopping to write this review) For example at the end of level 1 you can spend your money on better shears, a bigger cleaver and a bigger swill bucket for your pigs. At the end of level 2 you are also able to buy fox repellent and metal fencing to protect your live stock. The improved tools enable them to regenerate quicker after use. This process can be speeded up by using the pumps that you will find by the side of the tool box, so if your funds are low, think carefully about what tools and equipment you are going to purchase. There is a bar indicator to show how much each tool has been regenerated after use. This bar must be full before you can use the tool again. Before the level ends you will be prompted to round up your stock and take them to the pens. A rope icon appears in the tool box when it is time and you also get a verbal signal. You don’t necessarily have to stop what you are doing immediately, but the more animals you have the longer it takes to round them up. This is compounded because you have to round them up in a specific order which is dictated to you via a small window that pops up over the main playing area.
You can pause the game by pressing the Esc key; to return to the game click on play or the escape button; which will return you to where you left off. Quitting the game will save your progress to the last completed level. There is only one profile available. So if you are part way through the game, no one else can play it, otherwise they will overwrite your save, or continue playing your save.

Conclusion:
I found myself enjoying this game for a short period. The ability to save your progress makes this a nice little time filler in between other things. I don’t think I’ll get seriously into it, but I will play it again. My daughter is likely to enjoy playing this more than me apart from the slaying aspect. (Because we are Vegetarians, and she’s very vocal {even though she’s only 7} about how horrible it is to kill other animals…. Our indoctrination because we are strict lacto vegetarians)
Personally, I think it will take some skill to progress past the early levels. I only went as far as level 3 before deciding to write up the review. If there are more animals and tools to discover as well as a change of scenery occasionally I think this game will be well worth keeping, especially if you’re family orientated. I haven’t seen anything quite like this; however my main purchases apart from the ‘big’ $50 games have been arkanoid, arkanoid, and arkanoid, lol. Well, before the Game Giveaway introduced me to other genres of arcade games. So I’m sure there are similar games. (Exotic Farm springs to mind :) This is definitely a keeper for my family; for now at least.
The music is a little cheesy, but not seriously annoying. If you go to the game folder and open it up you’ll find a music folder that contains .ogg files. The music ones are the larger files. These can be replaced with something more to your liking. (always save the originals as a back up though) If it’s going to be specifically for the children, then maybe something such as Old McDonald or Ba Ba Black Sheep, lol. You will need a converter, which those of you who have been visiting the sister site for a while will probably have already. If you don’t, go check the freeware library.

The sound effects are severely lacking. You do get the sound of a sheep when you first buy one and place it on the playing area, but the sound isn’t utilized for anything else such as back ground noises. You also get an initial sound effect whenever you get new animals, such as pigs and sheep dogs It would have been nice to have had the sound of a farm as background sound; probably as opposed to the music. There’s no toggle for the sound or music, so to control it use your speaker control.
The graphics aren’t cutting edge, but for this style of game they are acceptable. There’s no windowed mode, and finally, the game is fully mouse controlled.
Thank you to the Gamegive away team and SortaSoft for this game. Everyone have a great day.

Canadian thanksgiving was last month. #1 might have forgotten that they are on the WORLD-wide web. ;-)
Some posts on other days looked forward to this re-releae, and I'm wondering why before I download. The screenshots look a bit old-schoolish. Thoughts?
