Bug Report: On level 142, I got to a point where I couldn't find any more moves, the game didn't suggest any, and it didn't reshuffle. I stared at it for a while and finally had to restart the level.
Suggestions: I get that this is a holiday themed version of the game, but starting each tank with a bunch of stuff already in it makes for an even more crowded tank than usual, once you get enough "beauty" items in it to get a gold trophy. All the decorations are holiday themed, and Fishdom has a problem with overcrowded tanks that look like junk yards by the time you're done anyway; start us with empty tanks and it'll look holiday-ish enough by the time it's done.
Note that I've been playing these games for a long time. I'm up over 4400 levels in the original Fishdom; I keep playing because I enjoy the gameplay just that much. I tried Fishdom2 and it was fun, but after a while I went back to the original. This holiday one is fun too, but once I've beaten all the tanks, I'll probably go back to number one.
The gameplay is great, though -- perfect for when I'm in the mood to turn off most of my brain and just futz around for a while. Building up the tanks is a distraction, if anything. There are some boards I love, some that are just basically fun, and some that are kind of annoying. Once you've beaten the game and upgraded your tanks as much as will be recognized (gold trophy in everything) it'd be cool to have a "free play" kind of mode, where you can choose which board to play each time. Once you've won, as it were, then playing should just be fun, however the player defines that.

Thanks for the game for Gregorian Christmas but alas it does not work on Windows 7 Ultimate. I am regretfully uninstalling it. Bummer.

Not anywhere near the level of the last Fishdom giveaway (Premium); this one is not only simpler, with a REALLY ugly aquarium (only one vs. the three in the other, without purchasing another), but my biggest complaint: it opens in a small screen (like a low resolution, filling only a portion of my monitor) even with "full screen" checked; other Fishdoms all open normally. Still some fun to pass the time, but no enhancement if you already have some Fishdoms.

Awesome and addicting game play! Playrix has some of the best Match 3, I think! But too have a lot of other types of games (hidden objects, time management (Gardenscapes, and others) and strategy, Mahjong, etc. Just to clear up someone saying they only have Match 3. (But love match 3, and Mahjong and...!)
Thanks GGOTD and Playrix!

I got myself a new laptop for Christmas, and this is the first time I'm setting up a new one with the old one still operational. So I'm not in panic mode and have time to download games. This is one of my favorites, so I'm pleased it's being offered again.
Downloaded, installed, and working fine on Win 8.1/64.
I love match 3, relaxed mode, decorating the aquariums, and the cute little characters (especially the turtle). Thank you so much Playrix and GGOTD!

Hi Everyone,
This is my 3rd game download since discovering GGOTD, so just wanted to say hello to everyone, and a big Thank You to Whiterabbit, and to Playrix and any other game companies that promote their games here in this way. I've loved Fishdom so far, and I'm sure I'll love this one, too. On my external HD, I keep backup folders of all my installation programs, including games. I'll probably stash this one under Christmas games, but I'll temporarily install it now, to make sure that goes smoothly.
Greetings from Texas,

I really enjoy this game. It's got a relaxed mode for us old timers.
I d/l this game a year ago and was hoping to play 1,000 levels by now.
I only made it to 853. :(

Much as I endorse the positive quotes concerning the Fishdom series, I have to sound a sour not of slight incompatibility with my system (32-bit XP Pro, SP3)... When I move a beauty item over the 'acceptable-placement' border(s),I obviously get the 'no entry' circle, but my computer freezes - specifically, I eventually get a message that 'the ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working'. It's only with this specific title - and maybe one other (entirely different?) program (though I MAY be half-remembering and earlier download of Frosty Splash). I then have to switch off the power and reboot, and the computer's fine unless I play it again AND try to mis-place something else (it does play fine otherwise).
Apart from the above issue, I really can 'while away the hours' playing these games!

Hi Lee, have you tried updating your graphic drivers. Drivers are updated regularily. Check which graphic card you have via the dx diagnostics panel (type dxdiag in the search field) then open up the display tab. you can see which card or grqaphic chip you have from there. The usual ones are Nvidia and ATI/ASUS. Whichever you have, go to the developers website and look for a driver link. There's lways one on the front page. download and install, then try the game again. Hopefully that will fix the issue.
Apparently ialmrnt5 display driver is notoriouly problematic with some games. Check the following link for details:

As a puzzle type player, these fishdoms are pretty good, I like them. I wish the tank need not get so crowded with stuff. I'd prefer if they started out with say 8 cheezy items and the idea was to be able to upgrade those 8 items as you advance until you have 8 super sweet items to get the gold.

I have been having fun playing the game, but I can't find in the game menu where to put that big long registration number. I do want to play after today :) and the install and activation went fine, but I don't want it to stop working or go to a demo mode because I didn't enter the reg. number somewhere before midnight. Thanks for your help in advance, t.
........................Moderator Comment.........................
Hello Terri, there's no registration needed. The game automatically registers. If you appear to have the demo, which will only play for an hour, I suggest you redownload the game and reinstall it. If you continue to hve problems you can get it free from MyPlaycity. I've linked to it in my review; but do remember to uncheck any check boxes to avoid the toolbars etc.

Hi Stephen,
I am SO excited that Fishdom: Frosty Splash is being offered again since I missed out last year because I was busy after returning from a road trip. I really am in love with the Fishdom series and being able to build up my tanks. However, I have to agree with some of your suggestions -- I would definitely like to see some new fish offered, as well as being able to upgrade purchases to bigger or more ornate versions would be fun. Here's a thought -- could we get boy and girl fish that interact? (No, I am not suggesting anything inappropriate for families.) Correct me if I am wrong, Stephen, but from the screenshots and videos, it seems like only one tank is offered in this game (Deep Sea Cheer), but of course being able to buy additional tanks allows us to build new scenarios while saving others.
Thank you Playrix and GGOTD for continuing to offer us free games, and of course to you, Stephen. for all your hard work.
Cheers,
Cara

THIS is my FAVORITE VERSION of the BEST GAME EVER MADE IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF HISTORY OF HISTORY OF THINGS THAT WERE MADE!
I play several levels of this game EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE!
The more levels you complete the more intense the gameplay. Some later levels are really quite difficult.
The aquariums are BEAUTIFUL!
fishDOM makes all things DOM even DOM'er!
That said, I almost didn't check to see if there was even a game offered today. SATURDAYS JUST AREN'T fun IF THERE ISN'T A GAME OFFERED EVERY WEEK.
IF all the software companies are in such deep depression then why does the other side of this site ALWAYS have free programs EVERY SINGLE DAY? They haven't missed a giveaway in the entire six years I have been visiting the site. Do the just care more about that side of things?

We have had multiple giveaways of "Frosty Splash" and "Spooky Splash", but not even one of "Harvest Splash". Would love to complete the set (marketed together as "Seasons Under the Sea") ...
(For the record, we've also had original recipe Fishdom, Fishdom 2, and H2O, the hidden object version. The latest, likely too new for GGOTD, are Fishdom 3 and Aquascapes, another hidden object game.)
Anyway, even if you don't like Match 3s, you might want to grab this one and keep it around for next Christmas. If you do like Match 3s -- you've probably already downloaded every goodie from Playrix. :-)

Downloaded, Installed and Activated with no problems on my Win7x64 machine. As mentioned this has been given away before but if you want a quality match 3 then you should get this. With all things Platrix you can be assured of excellent graphics, smooth gameplay and a well thought out game. As I've mentioned in other reviews, match 3 is not my favorite genre but I always have a few on my system for the odd half hour/hour of distraction. These (the Fishdom series)are the ones I allude to when I say that. Already had this one, several times in fact, but after a catastrophic system failure (my fault too embarrassingly) I've had to re-stock my games folder. Fishdom, Fishdom Frosty Splash, and Fishdom H2O were the first ones I searched out. Quite a ringing endorsement given my "meh" attitude about match 3 games. (Fishdom H2O is a Hidden Object game)I'm dancing in the street that I can replace the version I had, from a free game site, with this copy. As a bonus it even saved my progress from the (now deleted)older copy! Contrary to some I kinda enjoy the music included in this series too. (Blush) When I fire this one up I ALWAYS have memories of earlier holiday's because of the music.
Summary : With ANY Playrix game you can be assured of excellent graphics and gameplay so grab them even if the genre offered isn't high up on your list.I have absolutely no "cons" to offer on this as its tops in its field imho of course. Thank You GGOTD and Playrix for your generosity and work in getting these games for us.

#2: "The 3rd Fishdom in the last 4 months … always the same old cheese."
In addition to what WR posted, I think a lot of developers who might otherwise be working on PC games have been lured to the Android, Apple, & Windows stores -- Microsoft has even been subsidizing their work to some extent. I think there's only going to be more movement in that direction, at least short term, as Intel & AMD work to bring Android to the Windows desktop.
Besides WR's suggested sites for more games, & those in the forum, you could always check out BlueStacks [bluestacks.com], an app designed to let you run Android apps & games in Windows?

Stephen, you say this looks like an updated version (said the file size is different)?
Also the system requirements on Playrix's site differ than those listed here:
-NT/2000/XP/Vista
-1GHz CPU
-512MB RAM
-DirectX 8.0 or higher
-128MB Video RAM
It doesn't mention Windows 98 not 7 technically but does add NT...
Which specs are correct?

thanks for pointing the errors out Avid Gamer. Actually, this is the same version as the lasat time it was given away (apart from the dowenloaded zip file,. the actual game is the same size as the previous version. The slight difference in zip file size could be changes in the gcd file?
I was up till 4.30am this morning editing and adding new images (the previous image host closed last year). Was a little too tired to proof read, so missed some details that need changing. :)

The 3rd Fishdom in the last 4 months ... always the same old cheese.
...........................Moderator comment...........................
As I've said many times previously when a community member whinges about their not being any new games. If you look over the last years games we have still had more games that have not been given away than repeats. The economic climate at the moment is not very condusive to developers giving away thousands of licences each week (on average anywhere between several thousand to 20 thousand downloads are registered for each giveaway. Fishdom games actually get one of the highest download rates.
It would be more positive for you to maybe post suggestions as to how the game could be improved rather that complaining, considering Playrix, Alawar and other developers are kind enough to give us games for free. They would appreciate that, and it would give other developers cause to think that this site would be a good way to exhibit their games and get their products talked about. Many community members go on to buy other games from these developers thanks to the developers giving their decent games away. Playrix have been giving us games for virtually the whole time that this project has been running (just over 7 years), that amounts to hundreds of thousands of games given away for free.

Fishdom Frosty Splash:
Installation:
Fishdom: Frosty Splash downloads to a 49.1MB zip file (it was 46.5 MB the last time it was given away last year) that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive. The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006. The installed game is 58.2MB in size, same as last time this was given away, indicating the game is the same version.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom - Frosty Splash\Fishdom.exe
If you have a 32 bit system ignore the (x86) in the path above.
A desktop shortcut is installed as is a start menu/programs shortcut (which can be found in the Playrix folder (Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom - Frosty Splash); you’ll also find an uninstaller in the Start menu/programs list. The game will automatically start once the installation wizard is complete unless you uncheck the check box at the end of the wizard. Once installed you can delete the giveaway setup files. There are two shortcuts installed to the desktop, the game shortcut and a shortcut to Plarix's web site (which you can delete if you don't intend visiting their site) . You’ll also find shortcuts for the game and an uninstaller in the Start menu/Programs list.
I've only tested the game on Win 7 and Win 8.1 this time around, but previously it did work on Vista and Win XP so if you have either of those systems it should work. My other operating systems are not available at this time due to updating my older computers. According to the developer the game should also work with XP and Vista, but no mention of Win 8 has been made yet; but, as mentioned above, it works fine on win 8.1.

Developers Introduction:
Reference accessed HERE Jan 18th 2014
The Game:
Today’s game giveaway is similar to previous fishdom games, but with new match three boards and a festive snowy theme plus another fish tank to build. If you liked Fishdom you will almost certainly love this one as well.
The options menu enables you to change from full screen (default) to windowed mode. You can also toggle tips and hints , a custom cursor and a relaxed game mode as well as the usual music and sound effects sliders. You can choose the relaxed game mode when you first start the game up either via the options menu or when the game starts up. (See images I’ve posted below via the images link)
It’s a pleasant match three game with an upgradable screensaver that you transform from an empty fish tank to a fully stocked aquarium while playing the game. Gameplay is as you’d expect for a match three; basically you have to create matches of three or more to destroy tiles. The aim is to clear the gold coloured tiles which are placed under the symbols. When you create matches on these gold coloured tiles they are removed. Creating matches of five or six add explosives, rockets and bombs to the playing field. To activate these either create a match three that moves one of these power ups or double click on them to make them explode. You score points for every tile you remove. As you progress through the levels they get progressively harder, with different layouts and tiles that required unlocking or double matching to remove the gold tiles. I was only able to progress to about level 8 while checking this game as all I had was an hour demo. Taking screen captures (nearly 100) of the tutorial and various items that you can buy in the shop took up a large part of my hour. So I can’t say if there are any more surprises. At the end of a level once all the gold coloured tiles are removed you are awarded money based on how many points you scored, the time it took to complete the level and the number of gold tiles you removed. This can then be spent on fish and other objects for your fish tank screensaver.
The screen saver tank starts as an empty tank. You can purchase fish for it via the shop , where you’ll find three tabs labelled Fish, Beauty and Comfort. For example clicking on the beauty tab you’ll find various plants, animals and other objects to make your tank look like a well stocked aquarium. All of the comfort items which include filters, feeders and air supplies can be upgraded; though each successive upgrade costs a lot more to purchase. There are several tropical fish you can choose from, each with its own characteristics, for example the Emperor Angel fish needs a varied diet in order to preserve their distinctive coloration, whereas Royal Gramma fish though shy will aggressively defend their territory in the tank. To create a good looking tank there are loads of items you can buy from various plant species such as Acetabularia Calyculus, Microsorium, and Myriophyllum Aquaticum amongst several others species, some sea organisms such as the Rapa Whelk and Starfish, to sunken ships, lamps, lighthouses, several christmas themed objects (such as a Christmas fish that has a santa hat on) and the traditional treasure chest amongst other items. All items purchased for the tank can be sold back to the shop so that you can choose other items. This makes for an excellent fish screensaver that is very much configurable to your tastes. You can also take photographs of your tank at any time and use these as wallpapers for your desktop; (great for a childs computer). To unlock new tanks you have to satisfy all of the criteria which can be found at the top right of the screensaver, that is you have to fill your tank with enough fish and create a beautiful and comfortable environment. Purchasing fish or other items from the shop will help to achieve these criteria. you can see what effect purchasing an item or fish makes to the indicator before you purchase it as the indicator bar moves to a new position when you hover your mouse over a particular object. when all three bars are at 100% you will be awarded a bronze cup. You can either unlock a new tank or go for a silver cup in the same tank. Opting for the silver cup reduces the bars to almost zero. to attain a gold cup you must carry out the process three times.
The screensaver is activated by ticking the checkbox via the main menu which also gives you access to the options menu and the start button. There are three different tank settings called Pirate Treasure, Coral Reef and Lost Atlantis, though the second and third tanks are locked at the beginning of the game. The options menu enables you to adjust the music and sound effects as well as toggle on or off full screen mode, a custom cursor, in game tips and hints.
Clicking on a fish will cause a reaction

☆ Unlimited number of festive tanks to create and design
☆ Endless replay value
☆ "Relaxed" and "Against the Clock" game modes

System Requirements:

You can see lots of Fishdom: Frosty Splash images, that includes many of the hints and tips that pop up during the game (assuming you have them activated via the options menu – they are activated by default). Just click HERE to see them. You can look at all the images as thumbnails by clicking on the grid button to the bottom right above the filmstrip. There’s a slider to increase or decrease the size of the thumbnails. I reduced the quality of the posted images a little too much, but you can also see them much better via the slideshow.
If you want a picture of your aquarium as a wallpaper, you can take a screen capture via the game to use as your wallpaper

You’ll find videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE
and HERE.
Conclusion:
This match three game play is really just standard fare compared to other match threes IMO; I’ve played many of this genre that have found much better game play; however what I really enjoyed about this game was earning money to upgrade the screensaver. I love fish screensavers and although it’s not the best fish screensaver I’ve seen (for example you can get something similar from other match three games such as Big Kahuna Reef and one of the Atlantis games), it does have loads of items that you can add to one of three tanks, though you need to earn cash by completing levels, and only one of the tanks is available at the start of the game. One of it’s other positives is that it has a relaxed and timed mode which should cater for most community members tastes. :)
I’d give this game 7 out of 10 for family fun and the addition of a configurable fish screensaver.
Thank you to Playrix and the game giveaway team for providing this game for free.
Scoring
Gameplay – 8
Graphics – 8
Audio – 7
Re-playability – 7.5
Originality – 7
Total = 7.5
Suggestions:
The addition of the screensaver adds to the average game play, however I’d try and improve the game play by adding some mini games and more power ups to the game. You could also make the power ups upgradeable so that they become more powerful. These upgrades could be paid from some of the money earned to purchase items for the screensaver. I’d also add more species of plant life and enable those to be upgraded as well. Each upgrade could increase the size and shape of the plant or animal that you purchase for the tank. Also add more fish species and include several patterns and fish sizes for each fish spercies so that they don't look exactly the same. I'd also improve the realism of the tank, flora and fauna.
Problems:
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums in the game discussion section. If you’ve installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn’t guaranteed. It’s always worth checking out the free games sites as sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them as is Fropsty Splash from Gametop, MyPlayCity and FreeGamePick.
If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help.

If you're looking for something other than today's game check the didimatic site via THIS link for some brilliant deals.
There are loads of l other deals available from Steam as well as many more from Gamersgate, Gamestop, GameFly Greenman Gaming and GOG; all of which you can find via the Didimatic site, which I've linked to above (apart from Greenman gaming and Gamefly).
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles or the four day sales at IndieGameStand. There's at least 14 + game bundles live at the moment (most are from Bundle Stars) and all of which are amazing deals.

Don't forget you can get a whole raft of match three games from places like Jenkat Games (56), MyPlayCity (150), FreeGamePick, and Gametop (50)
All these sites offer commercial games by paying the developers a retainer for being able to give them away. They are not technically free, but you can play them for an unlimited amount of time and they are available from these sites 24/7. The only drawback apart from the risk of installing toolbars is that your browser will open to the home page of either site depending which you got it from.
There are some decent match three’s versions, of which are really good examples of the match three genre; including previous giveaways such as Inca Ball, Around the world in 80 Days, Flower Story, Halloween Night: Pumpkin Match, Story of Fairy Place, The Rise of Atlantis, The Treasures of Montezuma, Trio: The Great Settlement, and Atlantis Quest. Last weeks Cradle of Persia is also available from Gametop, though it’s called Persian Puzzle. You can also get one of its counterparts that’s usually called Cradle of Rome,, though that has also had a name change to Rome Puzzle.
Do be aware that these sites may add toolbars and home page hijacks to your web browser, but these can be avoided by un-checking the appropriate boxes during installation. Also when you close any of their games down, your browser is opened and directed to the sites home page. This is innocuous so don’t worry. Closing the page ends any connection and nothing is downloaded.
