I second Cara's comment about the tanks already being so full of lovely decorative features that I must hide purchases behind other purchases to make things fit at the gold level. So my main suggestion is for a basically empty tank that I can then decorate. The Fishdom Depths of Time tanks do this much more effectively than Frosty Splash. I love Fishdom! I'm with the others who suggested/requested yet another version.

You do only have one background but you can concentrate on different colour themes for each tank. You can buy new tanks for 2000 coins. Other Fishdom games (I love them all) do have multiple backgrounds.
Thanks
P.S. Aquascapes is more interactive.

I have to say, Playrix has phenomenal games. That said, I do like the ability to play the game in a window. I like to be able to minimize Frosty Splash while I'm working on other things. It gives me a nice break. I also appreciate the relaxed mode and it is what it says it is. I found the music very relaxing also.
The nice crisp graphics are wonderful and the colors are very pleasing. I am enthralled with the moving plants, a really nice touch. It would be nice if there were plants with a higher star value. I am a plant person :-). I would also like to be able to make them smaller. I'm afraid Playrix has spoiled me.
I would like to have a detailed help menu that I could refer to as I go. I do tend to forget. I give Frosty Splash 9.5/10. I can play it over and over.
Overall, it is a FANTASTIC game. Thanks to Playrix for the present today. Stephen, thanks for the overview and the offering today. I feel like I have gotten an early Christmas gift.

An excellent game!I still play it several times a week, even though I've almost reached Level 900 . . .
Just one little word of advice. Make sure you play on the 25th - even if only briefly.
And now - back to the game . . .

Still have this from the last time it was offered here. Basically "Spooky Splash" with different graphics and sound; that is not a castigation, if you like match-3 games these are quite good. You can rack up massive scores if you do not clear a level immediately - leave a few tiles untouched and continue playing til you tire of it, then take out those last few tiles.

GGAOTD TICKER still NOT visible; for more informations, see 32nd comment here: http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/questerium-sinister-trinity-collectors-edition
I submitted the compressed package, and the unzipped files, to WinDefender, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and EmsiSoft Emergency Kit (those programs are installed or portable on this PC): no problems detected.
I submitted the compressed package to virustotal, metascan-online and Jotti:
- Jotti found nothing
- Metascan-online found nothing for readme.txt and for setup.gcd but it found three false positives for the G/GAOTD setup.exe --> virit found Trojan.Win32.DownLoader16.CH, K7 found Riskware ( 0040eff71 ), Zillya! found Adware.OutBrowse.Win32.77031, Fortinet has failed to scan, but the other 39 engines found nothing.
- Virustotal found three false positives --> K7Antivirus found Riskware ( 0040eff71 ), K7GW found Riskware ( 0040eff71 ), Zillya! found Adware.OutBrowse.Win32.77031, but the other 50 engines found nothing.
The game installed well on windows 10 standard x64 (and previously also in windows 8.1 last year).
I install all the games in d:\games and usually I move the shortcuts from the desktop to that folder... But when the shortcut isn't created by the setup application of the game, I must do this task myself.
This time I HADN'T to create the shortcut by myself.
The game started and finished without problems, although "system requirements" say Windows NT/ 2000/ XP/ Vista.
On the exit, the windows compatibility app manifested itself; it enabled/ticked/selected Disable display scaling on high DPI settings in its properties – compatibility tab, because I’m using high DPI settings (150%).
Altough it worked well also without that setting (it seems there was nothing changed in the game, like the first time I started it).
Thanks for this game, as usual, to Whiterabbit-uk (aka Stephen), to GGAOTD and to Playrix!!!

Some gentle and relaxing games this weekend! I have Fishdom3 which is my favourite but this one is excellent for Christmas except for the smaller screen. It just makes it a little bit harder to see. Is this maybe an earlier game? Anyway both games are very stress-less and good to play in between my frustrating sessions with last weeks' WeatherLord! Thank you Stephen for your reviews (I always read them first, even if I know the game!) and also to Playrix and GGOTD.

Thanks for another great game from Playrix. For match 3 games they are hard to beat.
I am running a WIN 8.1 64 bit HP Laptop, unzipped with 7Zip, installed and runs perfect.
I've pinned, tweeted, facebooked, tumblered and blogged as I go every week about the games, hope it helps.
Have a great week and if you happen to come across any more tower defense games, I've love to have them. They're my favorite.
Sorry I couldn't comment yesterday, tree trimmers took out my internet for most of the day, you'd think by now they'd be able to miss the wires. The game opened, installed and plays fine. Its a fun hidden object game, not all dark and spooky. Thank you for that too.
Have a nice week

Good series, don't think I played this specific one (they do blur together). Tends to get hard at higher levels so save up what goodies you earn at low levels. Thanks for nice one GOTD. With this summer like weather in East I'll save this one for nasty weekends sure to come.

Nobody says much about the music on the games generally, but this one has some truly original Christmas music and I think it's quite nicely done. The game is fun anyway and has Playrix's usual excellent attention to detail, but the Christmas theme also gets me to look forward to playing it each year. Thanks to Playrix and GGOTD for a great holiday treat!

Have been waiting for another good Fishdom, but this is not as good as the original. It's much easier (yes, it's still early as I've only played this for about 20 minutes, but by then the original was starting to get more challenging) and, pet peeve, even at "full screen" it doesn't come close to filling the screen as Fishdom does. Fishdom H20 similarly runs in a smaller box too. Fishdom H20 broke from the match-3 mold and is a HOG, so both Fishdom and Fishdom H2O stay on my machine, but so far this one doesn't offer anything new, not much of a challenge, and is less usable because can't fill the screen.
But it will give me a break from Fishdom so I'll play this out, but so far, doesn't seem like a keeper after that. Have really been craving a new, more challenging match 3 as I'm getting tired of playing Fishdom and my other match3 fave, Lost Kingdom Prophecy. Still enjoying last weekend's offering, though.

YIPEE!!!! Another Fishdom game! I love these and can shoot my entire day doing them! It doesn't get any better than this. I really love the Fishdom series. Thank you for providing it! What a great little Christmas surprise you gave me. :) Downloading it now, and will spend most, if not all day, playing it. :) Another Sunday down the tubes. I can never get anything done between Sunday football and these great games you have released recently. Thank you Whiterabbit (Stephen). Happy holidays to you, too!

Hi Stephen,
I got this from GGOTD previously, and it is a fun Match-3 as with all the Fishdoms. However, I also found only one background - the Christmas theme - so after decorating my sixth tank, it got pretty repetitive. I also felt that the background starts out fairly crowded already, and getting the gold cup requires buying so many ornaments that if I were a fish I might start to feel claustrophobic. Maybe it's time for Frosty Splash II? But give us more than one background, otherwise it's kind of like getting one third of a Fishdom, and at the retail price quoted, I wouldn't bother. This comment might sound a little negative, but the game is enjoyable (it's neat to see the shape of some of the gameboards) and I give it a thumbs-up.
Season's greetings y'all,
Cara in NC

This was given away a couple years ago and is a simple and fun match-three. I enjoy the Fishdom games because they are relaxing and colorful entertainment.
I would like to see more variety or options to make the fish look different...i.e. fish designer area would be fun.
Thanks GOTD and White Rabbit for bringing these games to us to enjoy.

Hi, Many thanks for this weekend Gifts. Yesterday something little and cheerful in the shape of Family Vacation California - to satisfy serious and sometimes not too serious:) family of HOGlets ..tired of chasing villains, ghosts, sinister characters in blood dripping Locations (ah yes, just completed Haunted Hotel 10 and ready to dive into Extra Play in my CE Edition), so indeed much appreciated break. Today's Fishdom Frosty Splash another feast for Match3 lovers (not my favorite genre, but Fishdoms are exception, and naturally H2o mostly played) and so Seasonal!:) I have enough in our Collection, together with Frosty Splash, but thanks for reminding to revisit this fantastic Game, and by looks of it in need of unlocking next tanks.
I said it before, but gladly repeat it again that it gives me a true pleasure to read Stephens Reviews, together with Users' comments - that on this GGOTD site are simply 'Treasure Chests' in their own rights! Have a great Sunday Everyone. Wish rain (in Suffolk at least) turned into frost, or snow, pretty please!:)

I have all the Fishdom games and LOVE them! They are a lot of fun and can get difficult in the upper levels. They're also just very easy on the eyes and pretty to look at while you play. I highly recommend downloading this one to anyone who is unsure. Kids will especially enjoy this one at this time of year.

Like last week I tried to install today's game and kept getting the error message that the files had been corrupted and get a new copy. Had no problem installing it with my old computer, but the error message kept coming up on my new computer. I always install a third party antivirus to all of my computers, AVG on my old, Kasparsky on the new. Turned off the antivirus on the new computer and still got the error message. So after much trial and error I discovered that the Microsoft antivirus was enabled on the new computer. Went in turned it off and tried again. This time the game installed without any problem. So it appears that there was a problem with the Microsoft antivirus that was preventing me from installing the game. Hope that this helps for others who get the error message.

Okay, I remember this one. It's a fun game, as all the Fishdoms are, but one question. I can't figure out how to change the background on my tanks. :/ There are other backgrounds shown on the play boards, so it makes sense that there should be some way to change the background on my actual tank. Am I missing something? (Quite possible.) Or am I stuck decorating the same background over and over, which frankly got a bit boring. Help? Thanks!

Fishdom Frosty Splash:
In Brief:
A pleasant match three game with an upgradable screensaver that you transform from an empty fish tank to a fully stocked aquarium while playing the game
Installation:
Fishdom: Frosty Splash downloads to a 49.1MB zip file (the same as Jan 2014) that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive. The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006. The installed game is 58.2MB in size, same as last time this was given away, indicating the game is the same version.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom - Frosty Splash\Fishdom.exe
If you have a 32 bit system ignore the (x86) in the path above.
A desktop shortcut is installed as is a start menu/programs shortcut (which can be found in the Playrix folder (Playrix Entertainment\Fishdom - Frosty Splash); you’ll also find an uninstaller in the Start menu/programs list. The game will automatically start once the installation wizard is complete unless you uncheck the check box at the end of the wizard. Once installed you can delete the giveaway setup files. There are two shortcuts installed to the desktop, the game shortcut and a shortcut to Plarix's web site (which you can delete if you don't intend visiting their site) . You’ll also find shortcuts for the game and an uninstaller in the Start menu/Programs list.
I've only tested the game on Win 7 and Win 8.1 this time around, but previously it did work on Vista and Win XP so if you have either of those systems it should work. My other operating systems are not available at this time due to updating my older computers. According to the developer the game should also work with XP and Vista, but no mention of Win 8 has been made yet; but, as mentioned above, it works fine on win 8.1.

The Game:
Today’s game giveaway is similar to previous fishdom games, but with new match three boards and a festive snowy theme plus another fish tank to build. If you liked Fishdom you will almost certainly love this one as well.
The options menu enables you to change from full screen (default) to windowed mode. You can also toggle tips and hints , a custom cursor and a relaxed game mode as well as the usual music and sound effects sliders. You can choose the relaxed game mode when you first start the game up either via the options menu or when the game starts up. (See images I’ve posted below via the images link)
It’s a pleasant match three game with an upgradable screensaver that you transform from an empty fish tank to a fully stocked aquarium while playing the game. Gameplay is as you’d expect for a match three; basically you have to create matches of three or more to destroy tiles. The aim is to clear the gold coloured tiles which are placed under the symbols. When you create matches on these gold coloured tiles they are removed. Creating matches of five or six add explosives, rockets and bombs to the playing field. To activate these either create a match three that moves one of these power ups or double click on them to make them explode. You score points for every tile you remove. As you progress through the levels they get progressively harder, with different layouts and tiles that required unlocking or double matching to remove the gold tiles. I was only able to progress to about level 8 while checking this game as all I had was an hour demo. Taking screen captures (nearly 100) of the tutorial and various items that you can buy in the shop took up a large part of my hour. So I can’t say if there are any more surprises. At the end of a level once all the gold coloured tiles are removed you are awarded money based on how many points you scored, the time it took to complete the level and the number of gold tiles you removed. This can then be spent on fish and other objects for your fish tank screensaver.
The screen saver tank starts as an empty tank. You can purchase fish for it via the shop , where you’ll find three tabs labelled Fish, Beauty and Comfort. For example clicking on the beauty tab you’ll find various plants, animals and other objects to make your tank look like a well stocked aquarium. All of the comfort items which include filters, feeders and air supplies can be upgraded; though each successive upgrade costs a lot more to purchase. There are several tropical fish you can choose from, each with its own characteristics, for example the Emperor Angel fish needs a varied diet in order to preserve their distinctive coloration, whereas Royal Gramma fish though shy will aggressively defend their territory in the tank. To create a good looking tank there are loads of items you can buy from various plant species such as Acetabularia Calyculus, Microsorium, and Myriophyllum Aquaticum amongst several others species, some sea organisms such as the Rapa Whelk and Starfish, to sunken ships, lamps, lighthouses, several christmas themed objects (such as a Christmas fish that has a santa hat on) and the traditional treasure chest amongst other items. All items purchased for the tank can be sold back to the shop so that you can choose other items. This makes for an excellent fish screensaver that is very much configurable to your tastes. You can also take photographs of your tank at any time and use these as wallpapers for your desktop; (great for a childs computer). To unlock new tanks you have to satisfy all of the criteria which can be found at the top right of the screensaver, that is you have to fill your tank with enough fish and create a beautiful and comfortable environment. Purchasing fish or other items from the shop will help to achieve these criteria. you can see what effect purchasing an item or fish makes to the indicator before you purchase it as the indicator bar moves to a new position when you hover your mouse over a particular object. when all three bars are at 100% you will be awarded a bronze cup. You can either unlock a new tank or go for a silver cup in the same tank. Opting for the silver cup reduces the bars to almost zero. to attain a gold cup you must carry out the process three times.
The screensaver is activated by ticking the checkbox via the main menu which also gives you access to the options menu and the start button. There are three different tank settings called Pirate Treasure, Coral Reef and Lost Atlantis, though the second and third tanks are locked at the beginning of the game. The options menu enables you to adjust the music and sound effects as well as toggle on or off full screen mode, a custom cursor, in game tips and hints.
Clicking on a fish will cause a reaction

You can see lots of Fishdom: Frosty Splash images, that includes many of the hints and tips that pop up during the game (assuming you have them activated via the options menu – they are activated by default). Just click HERE to see them. You can look at all the images as thumbnails by clicking on the grid button to the bottom right above the filmstrip. There’s a slider to increase or decrease the size of the thumbnails. I reduced the quality of the posted images a little too much, but you can also see them much better via the slideshow.
If you want a picture of your aquarium as a wallpaper, you can take a screen capture via the game to use as your wallpaper

You’ll find videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.
Conclusion:
This match three game play is really just standard fare compared to other match threes IMO; I’ve played many of this genre that have had much better game play; however what I really enjoyed about this game was earning money to upgrade the screensaver. I love fish screensavers and although it’s not the best fish screensaver I’ve seen (for example you can get something similar from other match three games such as Big Kahuna Reef and one of the Atlantis games), it does have loads of items that you can add to one of three tanks, though you need to earn cash by completing levels, and only one of the tanks is available at the start of the game. One of it’s other positives is that it has a relaxed and timed mode which should cater for most community members tastes. :) If you love fish screensavers i highly recommend the Aquazone 2 screensavers that give you a 3D view of the emvironments such as the Amazonian river basin, open waters, benthic (sea bottom) creatures and coral reefs, there's also a more traditional fish screensaver that i purchased via BitsDuJour recently that also have the ability to move around the environment, but not to the same extent as Aquazone 2 called Sim Aquarium 3.
I’d give this game 7.5 out of 10 for family fun and the addition of a configurable fish screensaver.
Thank you to Playrix and the game giveaway team for providing this game for free.
Scoring
Gameplay – 8
Graphics – 8
Audio – 7
Re-playability – 7.5
Originality – 7
Total = 7.5
Suggestions:
The addition of the screensaver adds to the average game play, however I’d try and improve the game play by adding some mini games and more power ups to the game. You could also make the power ups upgradeable so that they become more powerful. These upgrades could be paid from some of the money earned to purchase items for the screensaver. I’d also add more species of plant life and enable those to be upgraded as well. Each upgrade could increase the size and shape of the plant or animal that you purchase for the tank. Also add more fish species and include several patterns and fish sizes for each fish spercies so that they don't look exactly the same. I'd also improve the realism of the tank, flora and fauna.
Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting Fishdom: Frosty Splash working, please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums; in the game discussion section, because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed Call of the Ages but it doesn’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at a later date. Unfortunately if your problem is actually downloading it, once the giveaway deadline is reached you will no longer be able to download the game unless you've already started downloading it before the cut-off. Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour. Apart from the above instances; i.e. already installed, but having problems running the game, (with the possibility of receiving help from the community via the giveawayoftheday game discussion forum); or still downloading after the cut off period, but within the 1 hour grace period, or registering within an hour of the cut-off period. Once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done to get the game (unless its available from one of the free game sites) until the game is given away again (though that isn't always guaranteed).
It's worth checking the giveaway game discussion forums the day before the giveaways go live to see if we are getting a large sized file (I usually post a comment about approximately how large a file is, though if I'm particularly busy I may neglect to do this). It is especially important for those who have slow connections and even more so if the game is popular. We can have up to forty thousand (40 000) community members downloading over the 24 hour period, with the bulk of community members downloading in the first 12 hours of the giveaway going live, there is always a massive strain on the giveaway servers. The bigger the file size, the more community members will be downloading at any one time. Because the bandwidth is shared equally among all community members, downloads can become excruciatingly slow, so if you do have a slow connection, its important to start your download as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Because these games are free, the giveaway owners cannot invest in more bandwidth without compromising the whole project, so we have to be satisfied with what we have at present.
A download manager can help speed the download up and also protect the download in case of an interruption. There's nothing as frustrating for those with really slow connections to have the connection break after an hour or so, then have to start from the beginning again. I would ask community members if you do have decent bandwidth please avoid using a manager as it does add to the number of downloads occurring at any one time, for example some download managers will download your requested file in up to 32 packets simultaneously, that will take 32 download spots, thus slowing down everyone else's download speeds. For those with slow downloads (due to having a slow connection e.g. a 2MB Broadband connection or less) I would advise using a download manager if the file is larger than around 200MB. My broadband connection is 100MBs, so I don't need to use a download manager, (I do have one called Internet Download Manager, but don't use it when downloading files from the giveaway site). For me a 1GB file usually downloads in about 1.5 minutes or less. My connection is quite a long way from the provider so it is slowed a little, but is still quite good at a download speed of around 12 to 14 MB's per second.
I hope the above goes some way in explaining why we sometimes have really slow downloads.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from and Toomky Games is highly recommended. Todays game is available at least three of the free game sites. . :) (i.e. MyPlayCity, Gametop and FreeGamePick). Was unable to access the TooMky Games web site.
If you do download any games from these free game sites please 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently)....... I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games and yet more games section. If you do download a game from any of these sites you do so at your own risk. We cannot be held responsible for problems arising from an installation recommended here. :)
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site and until someone informs me that they have reverted to their original download schemes I won't be recommending downloads from them. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. TooMyk Games are now safe to download from. They have removed the games that were suspect and have cleaned up their act. As always, you download from those free game sites at your own risk. The gamegiveaway site is the safest site I know of where you can get free software (BitsduJour is also great for free applications) and games. The only disadvantages with downloading from here is you have to download and install within the day of the giveaway (apart from the instances mentioned above and if and when you upgrade or buy a new computer legally you aren't allowed to transfer games given away previously, unless they are being given away on the day you upgrade, or if you've purchased a license. :)
You just have to look at the sites track record since the game giveaway site was created back in December 2006. No games given away here since the inception of the gamegiveaway site have been infected with malware, there are no toolbars installed, nor home pages hijacked or browsers changed. There is one slight annoyance, but that only occurs if a community member isn't paying attention; i.e. when the final window pops up after installing a giveaway, called 'the Software Informer' installation window. Some community members have complained that they were given no choice in its installation. That is not true; when the final window pops up, there are two buttons, one asking if you want Software Informer installed and the button to close the giveaway window down. Some community members have clicked on the wrong button, probably because they weren't paying attention. Thankfully Software Informer is a genuine application, that can easily be uninstalled by the usual means. It's actually a useful piece of software, especially if you have a lot of applications running on your computer. Basically the program will list the programs that need updating, or programs that have available updates. They wont be automatically installed (thus cancelling many giveaway registrations); you have to click on individual buttons to update each program/application. :D

Don't forget you can get a whole raft of match three games from places like TooMky Games, MyPlayCity, FreeGamePick, and Gametop.
All these sites offer commercial games by paying the developers a retainer for being able to give them away. They are not technically free, but you can play them for an unlimited amount of time and they are available from these sites 24/7. The only drawback apart from the risk of installing toolbars is that your browser will open to the home page of either site depending which you got it from.
There are some decent match three’s versions, of which are really good examples of the match three genre; including previous giveaways such as Inca Ball, Around the world in 80 Days, Flower Story, Halloween Night: Pumpkin Match, Story of Fairy Place, The Rise of Atlantis, The Treasures of Montezuma, Trio: The Great Settlement, and Atlantis Quest. Last weeks Cradle of Persia is also available from Gametop, though it’s called Persian Puzzle. You can also get one of its counterparts that’s usually called Cradle of Rome,, though that has also had a name change to Rome Puzzle.
There are 291 games on sale over on Steam this weekend.
To advertise the coming of the latest Doom game there is a franchise sale on for all the Doom games with between 66 to 75% off (apart from the latest one, which will be released this coming Spring. If you like zombie games there's 33% off Killing Floor 2. (personally I've found the second game much harder to play than the original, which was actually an half life 2 mod until the team that created it made a standalone game that i've been playing on and off since it's release several years ago, and even had a rented server until last month. The new game has much improved graphics, but I've so far never been able to survive past the second level even though I'm a fairly experienced player. There's 66& off the excellent Total War Attila (I prefer Shogun 2). If you're into strategy games like the total war series, The Humble bundle has just released a new bundle called The Humble Weekly Bundle: Total War Encore. For more than the average of $9.09 (at the time of writing) you'll get Total War: ARENA - Premium Spartan Hoplite Unit (combines with the online Arena game), MEDIEVAL: Total War Collection, Empire: Total War Collection (with all of the dlc I paid around £80 for this when it was first released, this is my second favorite Total War game), 66% off Total War: ATTILA coupon, Total War: SHOGUN 2 Collection (my favorite) and Napoleon: Total War Collection. Make the tier 2 up to $15 or more you will also unlock Total War: ROME II Emperor Edition, Total War: ROME II - Wrath of Sparta Campaign Pack, Total War: ROME II - Caesar in Gaul Campaign Pack, Total War: ROME II - Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack and Total War: ROME II - Pirates and Raiders Culture Pack. That bundle is well worth the full $15. All the games are superbly made and will give you literally thousands of hours worth of fun.

There are loads more excellent deals but it would take me all evening to detail them here; just check out the specials section for all the games on sale HERE.
There's loads more in the weekly sales and the 48 hours sales to choose from; and almost certainly something for everyone. The next set of weekly sales starts on Monday with usually a few hundred titles added. :)
You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites.
GreenManGaming They usually have coupons to the value of 23% and sometimes more off pre ordered games. I've just pre ordered Just Cause 3 XL and XCOM 2 using a voucher and saved £22 on the price paid in the Steam store
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG (DRM free games)
Gamestop
GameFly (soon to be sold off)
I've removed the Desura link because the owners are bankrupt and there has been no activity on the site in months. The servers are still live (at least until Bad JoJo's subscription to the servers has ended, Bad JoJo are the owners of Desura and Indie Royale, or were until filing for bankruptcy). If you own any games via Desura I advise downloading all of the drm free games you have on that platform and on the Indie Royale site before the sites are taken down.
Free Game Sites:
Toomky Games
MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)
Gametop
FreeGamePick
To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. you'll find the indie bundles thread HERE. The thread is outdated, but all of the links will still take you to the latest bundles.
The latest IndieGameStand game is Redshift Blueshift:
Redshift Blueshift is a tournament-ready pong-like 2D shooter in which two pilots fight for glory in their variable paddle ships! Power up your shields, unleash a horde of drones and homing missiles on your opponent and keep the hyper-ball in play! Supports local multiplayer and single player vs AI.
You can get the game for $1; pay over the average to get a second version for free to give to a friend or family member . (The price at the time of writing was $2.08. It rarely goes above $2 unless the bonus content includes a second or third game).
The deal ends Wednesday 16th Nov 2015 5am (GMT)
The latest DIG game is Volt:
You were on the way to a recycling process when fortunately for you - and unfortunately for the environment - you accidentally ran off.
Now your goal is to escape from the facility, which is an extremely difficult task due to the fact that you are a battery without legs. Equipped with a limited number of electric beams, you can connect to walls, move or destroy objects, turn switches, and charge generators.
You also have the ability to jump or push off the walls - the rest is up to physics and gravity.
Key features:
- puzzle platformer with a lot of explosions
- over 60 levels divided into 4 industrial-themed zones
- boss stages
- unlockable 12-bit levels
- unlockable batteries
- unlimited lives !
Pay £0.99 for the game or you can get two keys if you pay more than the average of $1.28 (at the time of writing ). One Steam key to share with a friend or family member perhaps? You'll find that deal HERE. They also have five bundles of several games that'll cost you less than $1.50 each HERE (DIG Bundles 47, 48 & 49, reBundle 9 and Greenlight 3). You get Steam keys for all of these games except the Greenlight bundle, however, if a game is Greenlit, you will get a Steam key.
The single game deal ends just after Midnight Sunday 13th December 2015 and will be replaced with a new game.
Most of the bundles available retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars (apart from the Daily Indie bundles that only cost $1.49 for six games), but you can pay as little as a dollar for some. There are some excellent bundles out at the moment. I highly recommend the first four sites as they regularly change their bundles, at least weekly. Bundle Stars is the most prolific, usually with at least 10 bundles, but sometimes a lot more. some bundles stay for months, others for only a few days. I also recommend buying the Greenlight bundles as you will get quite a few being greenlit and save a large amount of money on newly released games. I reckon at least 75% of the games from those bundles have been Greenlit since I purchased my first Greenlight bundle. (I've bought at least 50 bundles with only Greenlight games and they have never cost more than $3 to $4 per bundle, with savings up to 90%. The flying bundle is the only one that will inform you when a game has been Greenlit and will send you your Steam keys, the rest you have to check your accounts page to see if they have added Steam keys. sometimes it may take several weeks after the game has been released before you get your keys, but generally its either the same day or a few days at the most.
