Sooo, another late review from me.
I have some previous Farm Frenzy games and generally like them, but I don't like this one that much. For what it's worth, even though I don't like it that much, I'm still playing it & it is addictive. I'm just really annoyed while playing it.
I think it's a bit too hard right off the bat and I don't like having to constantly buy things in the store before I can move on to other levels. In previous editions, when you bought a new store item, you played a few levels wherein you would gather stars to improve it before having to buy a new item (at least that is how I remember it). In this one, it seems every single level requires you to purchase a new item, and many levels require purchasing a new item AND improving your previous items. Very early in the game I had to start repeating levels to get from silver to gold so that I had enough to buy the required items. A little over 1/2 way through the first set (in Africa), the second set (the one with the fiber theme) was opened and I had to start buying store items for that scene. In order to continue on the FIRST scene, I had to buy a thread-making machine to get to the next level. Then all of a sudden, I had to buy 7 different items, many of them with costs in the thousands (thread making, weaving station, etc). So now I'm replaying the first half of the Africa levels and a few levels of the Thread theme (wherever that is) to get enough coins to open the next levels on both. I'm now at about the 3/4 mark on the Africa theme and I STILL need to buy store items for the second set before the later levels (Africa & thread) will open up.
As far as ranking on the levels, I've gotten gold on about the first quarter of the Africa scene, most of the rest are silver, with a handful just checked off. I don't mind a level being difficult, but some seem impossible. One that I replayed at least 10 times is still only silver because I keep missing gold by a few seconds. This is an issue I've been running into constantly so I decided to concentrate on this one level to see if I could figure out the right combination to success. After methodically making decisions, I've decided on one that gets the closest, but it seems as if the game changes how fast eggs are laid and/or other variables as I've lost gold by as little as 1 second to 15 seconds repeating the same exact actions. Maybe I'm neglecting a method, but I can't help but think there should be a few ways to get to gold, some just making it and some leaving plenty of time. I'm not really seeing that in this game as I did in previous Farm Frenzy editions.
It may be that all of my complaints are related to the button issue mentioned previously by other users. I have the same issue with the buttons and replaying levels. I find I can play a level twice before the button locks up. If I play another level, it opens the old button again. All I know is, I'm not very happy with the game but the stupid thing is so addictive I can't help but play it. :)
It's still a good game and worth a download to play, especially if you like TM games. It can be very challenging, which may be exactly what a hard-core TM player needs and wants. If so, I can't really fault the game - it's delivering what their users want. For more casual players of this genre, I would recommend the first two installments of this series, as I found them just challenging enough to be interesting but not so much as to be off-putting.

Thank you, Margaret. In the meantime I had an opportune moment to check out also your solution and I could determine that your suggested work-around for the bug with the blocking shop-button works very well too. After pretending to start an allowed level and then denying the request if the start of the level is really wanted let's become the shop-button immediately active again. Have a nice week!

Thanks You are probably right, but now I missed out on the game, Oh well will wait until next week now.

Maybe you should leave it to the kids to decide that for themselves. My youngest (11 yrs) was jumping up and down in excitement (maybe a future white-rabbit, she's always interested in the offerings on this site). And she can't wait to start playing after school today.

Thank you, Merlyne. Your suggested work-around really enables the continuation of the game without a restart. Have a nice week!

Runs perfectly, and amazingly fast on my new PC which uses 64-bit Linux exclusively instead of Windows. A whole new world of gaming has opened for me =)
Alawar makes awesome games. This is another great one. Everything is good so don't change anything.

Hi, Otto, I just reported a similar (maybe) problem, and I've found a workaround with Win7 at least. When the active buttons are unclickable, hover over the level buttons until you find an active one and just say no when it wants to start the level. That corrects the unresponsive buttons for me.

It's a fun expansion on the Farm Frenzy series which I like. My son loved the way the different economies were recognized by the switch in ostrich and cow, though I do have to say I was confused at first with the games that start with an ostrich because they don't drop $7000 feathers. Only took me one check to realize the alternate approach of keeping the animal wouldn't work here though :).
However, I'm running into weird bugs on the select level screen. I'm running Win7 with 8CPUs and 12GB memory so it's probably not my system (though I have a bunch open) but sometimes not all the "live" buttons will click. Like the shop is blue but won't click until I find a level button that's working (not all of them are clickable either and I'm talking about the levels I've already played) and then say "No" when it asks if I want to play. Then all the buttons work. It may bet still chewing in the background or something, but once the screen comes up, it's strange to find it not working. If it's as designed, I'd suggest a guinea fowl walking in a circle or something to show it's not ready yet.
Thanks for the game. I don't like time management stuff in general, but I'm loving this whole series (though I missed the pizza one mentioned above.

I loved Farm Frenzy 1 and 2. This is a bit of the same thing. Most levels I am able to beat the game's best time and that quite surprises me. I upgraded too much and could not finish the first farm, all of a sudden it went directly to the second one. I hope I will be able to finish later on when I have enough money for it. I enjoyed playing the game, but switched off the sounds, because they were getting on my nerves, quite irritating. Music is fine though. Thanks for this nice game; I love these kind of Time Management games and they are my favourite. Have to stop playing though because it is bedtime.

I had the same problem of not being able to go to the shop. I noticed that when I went to the next level button it goes directly to the shop if you need any updates. Hope this helps.

Love this game!! I used to own it and remembered that at the higher levels it was very difficult to get gold stars. I hope I can do better this time. I too have an uncooperative 'shop' button! Will try to sort that out.
However, great game!! Thanks Whiterabbit and all the sponsors.

I think I understand what Otto meant by a bug. If you succeed at completing a level, but fail to get gold on the level and want to repeat it. You cannot immediately click on the previous level to repeat it nor will it let you click on the next level - if the next level needs to have equipment purchased. The solution is to click on the shop button at the bottom of the screen. Once in the shop you do not have to buy anything, you can simply click okay and exit the shop. Then you can click on the previous level to repeat it. It's a bit annoying - but far less annoying than having to restart the whole game. I hope this helps.

Farm Frenzy 3 runs very well on my Win 7 32 bit system with only integrated graphics, but I'm going to delete the game anyway. I found Farm Frenzy 3 to be boring and annoying. This game gives the player no reason to wish to continue playing, and I don't believe that kids would particularly like it, either. I might have found a game like this interesting back when Windows XP was new, but not now.

Hi everyone!
I advise this game to every one because it is a lovely Time Management, and it is different from the 1st and 2nd Farm Frenzy. Simply because Farm Frenzy 3 has got 5 different farms around the world including one with penguins (my favorite!). If anyone gets a bit of bug, it could be due to either graphic card (needs a stronger one for instance) or due to lack of memory (just delete some of your unnecessary softwares). You can also use Game Swift if you have got it recently from GOTD or any equivalent freewares out there on the Net.
About this game, it is creative, fun, and you don't have to make it gold on every level. Just choose one where you can earn many stars and play it many times to raise many stars. That way, you can buy all the upgrades in the shop. Also when you play, always try to upgrade your cage as lions, bears, etc. will eat your animals thus making you lose points and target. Always when you start a new level, get your animals first if you can. Sometimes, you need only one or two as you can always breed them from eggs. Sell as much as you can but don't waste too much on upgrading your well unless if you need to breed lots of animals. That's the exception or in Endless level.
Here are some cheats. They may work, but not always. And I also include some walkthroughs from
different sites: http://www.gamezebo.com/2009/08/26/farm-frenzy-3-walkthrough-cheats-strategy-guide/ and http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/945127-farm-frenzy/faqs/52243 and finally http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/204473.page
Enjoy!

You didn’t read properly what I wrote: After the restart, I could determine that I had earned enough stars. I could buy something without replaying a level. And I informed you that I played the previous versions of the game. So I know that the shop has always to be open even if you haven’t got still enough stars. In this case, the fields for buying new items have to be inactive, but it’s a serious bug if you cannot enter the shop every time in order to get at least the information how much stars are still missing for your next goal.

probably starting next weekend I will start with a saturday and sunday stream with the game offered that day on GGOTD through twitch. Would I be allowed to "advertise" this on this site rabbit? It will depending on the game, a one or two hour stream with chat . I am still looking what would be the best time to cater to both the EU and NA viewers (sorry, won't take Asia South America and Aus/NZ/Africa in consideration). Not all games will be " streamable" I am afraid (like those playjowee games for example) But if it is streamable it will be done. If people miss the stream they can watch a video of the stream on my twitch channel. Web addres will be posted after I have gotten permission from Rabbit and/or GGOTD. You can answer me here or on steam if you need to ask first.
About todays game. I have always been a fan of these farm games and this is one of the better ones. What more can I say than what the great white hopping one already told you. Take it home with ya.

I didn't download this game because I already own it. I own all of the Farm Frenzy games. Next to Diner Dash, Farm Frenzy is in my top 2 favorite games. It is a time management game in which you collect supplies from the animals and use factories to turn the supplies into other items. Each level has its own goal. For example, in the first level you need to collect a certain amount of eggs in a minute. It is fun for the whole family, and each family member can have their own game ID so they won't mess up someone else's game. I don't share my laptop with anyone, and when I complete a game, I add a new ID such as Angie2 and then try to beat my score lol.

The game freezing was my fault. i didn't realize there was an update to my graphics card. After updating and replaying the game did not freeze up any more. Also do not spend any extra coins until level 6 or else you will have to start the game over because you won't have the coins you need to buy the required equipment.

This is a nice time management game. You must help a friend rebuild their farm after a storm has destroyed it. I played about 8 levels. You have to collect items from the animals, make things from those goods, protect your animals from lions and send you goods to the market. The coins you get from the market can be used to upgrade your buildings to make them more productive. I did have to restart the game twice since it locked up 2 times. I am not sure why that is happening. It seems to happen about every 4 levels. I enjoyed the first 2 Farm Frenzy games and this pretty much more of the same. Thanks GGOTD!

I got to report a bug: After ending up a level with a gold trophy I want to buy new bonuses in the shop, but it’s impossible. The shop button is out of order. Every time I’m forced to restart the game. After doing that the shop button is active again, and I can determine that I earned enough stars to buy new items in the shop. I cannot recognize a reason why the shop button is blocked after finishing a level successfully. This bug reduces the fun immensely. It’s a pity because the game got what it takes to become a splendid entertainment. The time limits are good determined and so are the items the player can buy from the shop.
I really liked to play the previous versions of this game, which has been free of such bugs. Thanks to GOTD for offering finally something different than hidden object games and match three games.
The bug possibly appears only in Windows 8.1 Pro 32 bits which I’m using.

Farm Frenzy 3:
In Brief:
Farm Frenzy 3 is the fourth in the series of 12 Farm Frenzy titles. These are time management games, one of a very few of this genre that I actually like. :)
Installation
Farm Frenzy 3 downloads to a 95.8 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file sometimes causes some security software to block installtion. You may get a message for example file corrupted or similar messages when trying to unpack the zip file. Giveaways are throughly checked by the giveaway team using several well known anti malware security suites, so if you do get a positive hit, it's 99.9% certain that the message is a false positive. If you do get a warning take a look at the comments left by community members. If there was a problem with the file you'd see many posts commenting on the problem.
There’s no shortcut installed so make a note of where the game is installed to so that you can manually create a desktop shortcut. By default it installs to the following path:
C:\Games\FarmFrenzy3_Game
Registration
Registration is automatically done when you install the game. You will require an active internet connection to complete activation. Once installed the game uses 91.3 Mb of disc space.

The Game:
Alawar’s Farm Frenzy 3 is the fourth title in the Farm Frenzy series, a time management game where you have to meet different, and sometimes conflicting, goals like owning five goats or baking 10 cakes. The previous Farm Frenzy Pizza Party may have gotten too complicated for some players, and Farm Frenzy 3 takes a big jump backwards in gameplay, while adding more of a story and some international locations. Sadly, though, the result is also a step backwards in fun. It’s still a playable game, but it lacks the charm of earlier titles.
I’ve liked the Farm Frenzy series from the beginning. The graphics were simple and the animals were goofy, but the gameplay was great. Farm goals were easy to understand, and every level offered a choice of strategies that kept things interesting. The best part about it was the replayability. You had to really push yourself to get a gold on every level, and studying subtle points to shave a few more seconds off was an incentive to play some levels seven or eight times, stretching an already long game into a master course that could take weeks to finish.
After Farm Frenzy and Farm Frenzy 2 came Farm Frenzy Pizza Party. That moved a little away from the "think fast, click fast" fun of the original by adding very complex recipes. Even the most dedicated FF fans had to play with recipe cards stacked by the side of the keyboard, because no one could remember exactly what went into each flavor.
Farm Frenzy 3 has dropped all that. Most products have only two ingredients, and even the most complex is easy to learn. To increase variety, you play on ingredients different continents, so although there’s an egg layer on each farm, the animals vary from Geese to Penguins.
Graphics are more sophisticated, dropping the 2-D cartoon style for 3-D character drawings with shadows and highlights. Each type of animal eats differently, and watching a penguin flip a fish into the air to catch it is impressive.

Conclusion:
This is one of the last games I beta tested for Alawar and is one of the few time management (TM) games I still find enjoyable to play. It's well worth downloading even if you dislike TM games. Gameplay has changed significantly from the first three games, which had become overly complex with Pizza Party. Things have been simplified and several new additions such as 3D rendering (which on slower computers may cause some stuttering), capturing predators and imprisoning them in cages which can then be sold at the local markets to earn extra cash as well as an add on story. Despite the difficulties in gaining gold on your first attempts (I only managed to gain gold on my first level the first time around), and to progress to the next level, you sometimes need to replay the previous level one or more times t o earn the stars you require to upgrade your farm production or animals, this is an ideal game for beginners. I do hope you enjoy it. :)
Watch out for two lions appearing in level four near the beginning of the level. My advice is don't buy a second animal till you've captured both lions as invariably the bird you buy will be eaten and make it almost impossible to gain gold.

Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help. I've posted all of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. You'll find hundreds of match three games between these sites.
If you do download any other games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it.
You can download and play over 200 time management games from MyPlaycity HERE including todays game HERE.
You will need to uncheck boxes for toolbar and home page changes during installation.
