After playing this game for a week or so, I'd still give it two thumbs up. It's a lot of fun to play. The only complaint (and one that others have mentioned) is that the ball goes through the "paddle" sometimes. I was just on the 7th level of the 7th "temple", 5 lives left. No matter where I moved the paddle to start the level, I'd let the ball go and it'd bounce back and go right through the paddle. Lost 5 lives and the game in about 20 seconds. It also happened occasionally on other levels. lol. Weird glitch.

I don't believe you guys.... What a sh.. game as break-outs go.
It has the movements of the Pong-tennis game of the 6868-machines.
The bouncing back of the ball ALLWAYS exactly the same angle as the hitting, whether it hits a round or a square object.

I played it out, because I love arkanoids, and hoping for... yeah, for what?
Don't let a newby start with this game. It will put him/her off arkanoids for good.

The maker of this probabbly thinks he can make the game more exciting by introducing objects next time that you have to hit 25 times to destroy.

I loved this game! Best giveaway I have gotten in a long time. Maybe the best ever! I have played it quite a bit since the offering. I finished all 8 levels to the end. The last level is the prettiest board. Level 7 was harder than level 8 I think. If you missed this free offering, you should absolutely get it if is come around again. If it isnt offered again for free, you wouldnt be dissapointed if you had to buy it. A wonderful, fun, challenging game. You need to be kinda quick with the mouse in some parts unless you can grab a magnet to stop the ball. It is worth the $20 bucks! This company that made it is a great company. It is rare that I play any game that I cannot find any complaints about, but this game is PERFECT!!

Even though I already have a 'break-out' type game I decided to download this one. It seems much more difficult than the Bricks of Atlantis that I already have but that may just be a case of getting use to the icons used for the different paddles and balls that you can catch. I do like the spells that are in play but haven't quite firgured out what the green laser beam that sweeps the playing field does :o~

excelent game..but got to the third level(unlocked) and the game comes out pure-blinding white. Even re-started the game and that didn't help. I enjoyed playing it and was abit diassapointed when I couldplay anymore.

Thanks for telling me the turn off lighting feature dude I was able to see the game again. I wonder what caused it to suddenly change. I do have an awesome tip for anyone that is interested. If hit the escape key during the game it will open the options menu and while a power-up is falling when you resume the game the power-up will remain a constant speed but the ball moves much slower and that delay time allows you to obtain power-ups with a huge advantage! Hope this helps.

V/R,
Skulldeath

I have been very busy all day, so I was unable to write my review until now. Normally, I wouldn't have bothered, but, as the same thing happened with the sequel when it was given away last year, I reviewed it anyway.

As always, it is on the forums:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2556

Quick pros:

It has great sound.

The graphics are shiny.

Quick cons:

The paddle is hard to control.

Levels skip with no control over it by the player.

Gameplay is still on one layer, making the 3D aspect little more than a graphic effect.

The theme is cliched.

I downloaded Egyptoid this morning and have played it for an hour or so during the day. I am half way thru the 3rd temple. I have not experienced the blackout mentioned in #35 above.

I am using XP SR2, Athlon 64 dual core, 2GB mem, nvidea 7800 GS with 256MB.

I have experienced the ball passing thru the bat. It seems to only happen at far right or left end of the bat for me. 4-5 times I have lost the ball at the left or right edge of the screen. I had the bat all the way over and the ball went thru...

It is a good arkanoid type game. I also enjoyed Egyptoid 2 when it was offered.

Thanks GGAOTD and Realore

The graphics are really good, and the change of scenery in each level and different special effects throughout make this a truly fun game. On top of that, the sound track is incredible.. especially for such a relatively small download! The only problem I've had is the ball and paddle "lagging" a bit, but that's because I need a better graphics card...

Stephen and Skulldeath, I have solved the 'black screen' mystery. I read through the comments of the previous giveaway and #57 mentioned going into the Options and choosing "No Light" instead of either of the other available options. Now, Temple 3 plays normally for me. That was the only problem I had, no balls going through bats, etc. Great game.

With respect to the black screen problem; it may be worth downloading the game from Realores site and installing that. Provided you don't use the uninstaller to uninstal the giveaway version (though I'm not implying that they are different) and just have the game overwrite the one installed, the reg code should still be valid. It's worth a try at least. Just so that you don't lose your progress save the profile DAT file and replace it with the one from the newly installed game. That way it will be much quicker to test to see if the same problem occurs. Unfortunately using the file from another didtributor such as Reflexive ( where I got my copy from I think)wont work as they have different registration processes.

I do hope this fixes the problem otherwise it's hardly worth having (Just like Nuclear Ball from last year that did the same thing (though again I'd already bought a copy and didn't have the same problem)

I checked partway into the second temple and never once did the ball pass through the bat. I can't explain why that is happenning to some other than it may be a hardware thing? I tried it using normal and advanced light settings and the same result.

For those who lose a whole series of balls in a short spave of time you can recover those balls just so long as you exit the game before the end of the level and instead of clicking on suspend, click on abort. That will take you to the last saved point.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. :)

its an ok game, wish it was longer...

Beat it in a few hours of leisure playing... I ended up with like 93 lives at the end. Kinda weird..

This was just up for dl like less than 2 months ago. Not complaining about it, being free and all, just kinda curious why its that difficult to come up with 365 different games, so you never repeat one in any given year...

Just a thought.

With respect to losing the ball through the bad. That's strange because I haven't had this problem. It could be the version maybe as mine was bought a while back. I've also never seen the blackout that SKULLDEATH mentions. I'm going to download the giveaway version to see if I get the same problem.

I attempted the game, liked the look of it, but the ball continues to just pass through the bat, there's no way to win if the bat is of no effect against the balls or whatever. I did so want to be able to play this, I like the game, the bat is useless tho so makes the game no good to play.

Thanks for version one - downloaded version two from here a while back and enjoyed the game very much. This one downloaded and setup quickly and also plays fine on my Windows XP. Great to have both versions now - I never have played brick-breaking games before and these have been great to have! Thanks very much to you all - the comments are wonderful (good and bad) and always help me to decided, except for today - began the download first. Thanks.

Has anyone gotten to the 3rd temple yet? Nobody has posted this comment and I can't be the only person to get this far, but the game is in PITCH BLACK!!! I managed to beat level one because I had 14 balls to spare. I am thinking it was a programming glitch, so guess what happens when I get to level 2 on the 3rd temple PTICH BLACK again. Up until now I loved this game, now it's a wet fart in the wind, WHAT GIVES GGOTD???

More frustrated then a 3 legged dog trying to bury a turd on an icy lake,

Susanna #26. The 128mb is for RAM not graphics card. I downloaded the game thinking that I did not have the required system also (only a 64mb graphics card and no 3D accelerator). It worked for you so I thought I would try it. It works great and that is when I realized the difference.

I am not a big fan of brickbuster/breakout style games but this one is good. I have not had the problem others have had where the ball goes through the bat (yet). I can see wasteing the day away with this one.

Thanks GGAOTD and Realore Studios! :D

Got Egyptoid2 when it was offered about a month ago and it has become one of my all time favorite time-wasters. :) Like Egyptoid2 it installed properly on my Vista machine, smooth graphics, nice music, fun power ups. All in all, what's not to like?

Bottom Line: A keeper. Thanks GGOTD and Realore --AGAIN-- for another great offering.

#26 - the description says it needs 128 MB of system RAM, not a 128 MB graphics card. Besides, your 945GM uses system RAM as video memory, so it has access to more than 8 MB. The 945GM will dynamically allocate up to 224 MB of system RAM (if available) to improve graphics performance. It doesn't work as well as a stand-alone card with dedicated memory, but it does work.

#11 have u ever heard of false positive? If u let a program do all ur thinking for u, u could be in trouble. The programs offered here are tested and all are spyware and malware free. I have been downloading for over a year and not once has my anti-virus program ever said these downloads have a problem. Maybe u need a better anti-virus program.

As for the game, its a very good arkanoid game. Almost as much fun as magic ball 2 and 3 lol.

It's a good thing of course!
Realore, feel free to send back 2 also, these are both great games.

Had no problem with the ball going thru my bat, but did have one with Egyptoid 2, as I run themes on my PCs and my cursor was floating in the game field, lol! But that's me and my toys.

This received 95% positive votes out of 192 votes when it was given away almost a year ago. You can see the comments by following the link below:

This is a decent 3D arkanoid. Not in my top 20 list of arkanoids, but still a good game to play. All arkanoid should fans like this one. The power ups are nothing special except for the symbols that you have to collect that unlocks magic powers and secret levels. The ball physics allows for good control. So if you’re skilled with ball and bat you’ll need to play on the more difficult settings. Nice graphics adds to a pleasurable game to play. I bought this quite some time ago and had forgotten about it, so thanks for reminding me.

Here’s links to a few more of this type. They are all quite similar, but if your into arkanoids like I am you’ll love ‘em. The only down side to these is that a browser is opened once the game is closed that takes you to the Gametops home page. Though I’d say not a bad thing as that gives you access to loads of other free games. These are not freeware, but commercial games being given away free:

Scaraball:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/scaraball-download/

A Ball:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/a-ball-download/

Sawnoid:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/sawoid-download/

Brixout:

http://www.gametop.com/download-free-games/breakout-download/

I’m almost done catching up on things so will be returning with my usual reviews over in the forums soon. Today’s arkanoid is worth 7 out of 10, a little biased maybe, but it does have decent game play and there are incentives to carry on playing.

It’s odd how this game has already received nearly 100% more thumbs down only 2 hours into the giveaway than it received for the whole 24 hour period the first time it was given away.

EXCELLENT!! I have been waiting for this one to come on the site!!! Download went fine... installed quickly with no problems.. Win Vista 32 bit. This is a great game. There are a few freeware clones with the same idea, but there is only one just like this. The closest is Scaraball, but even it is somewhat different. The graphics are good. The sound is very good and the music is awesome. Another winner from this company. Thanks GGAOTD. Thanks Realore. By the way... I don't give good reviews lightly!
