This is a great jigsaw puzzle game that you can do with the whole family including kids. While it might not be as challenging in piece shapes and sizes, it's certainly still fun if you like jigsaw puzzles. Thanks GGOTD!

Played the game for a few days. I have to give it the thumbs down. The pictures may change but not the pieces. The pieces go in the same spot for EVERY picture. Remember the shape of the piece and you will know where it goes. Also, there is not enough time to enjoy the picture. When finished with the puzzle, a window comes up over the picture so you can't enjoy it.

Thanks from me as well, Helen. My 5-yr-old really likes the game but it was starting to get frustrating for her not being able to access the other puzzles. The arcade version would be too advanced for her.

With a bit of work to make it more family friendly this could be a really good kids game.

Thanks Helen, much appreciated! Too bad though...relaxed mode is the only one I care for. Oh well, almost a keeper... lol

#28 - I found out the scoring problem. You only gain points if you play in regular mode. If you select relax mode the points will NOT be scored.

This looks like it could be a good game to relax with, but the arcade-oriented feel (even on Relax Mode) and lack of a way to create your own puzzles pretty much removes my desire to play it at the moment. It's also just a little too easy for someone that wants to spend hours on just one puzzle.

An excellent childrens' puzzle and game. This fits nicely into the Elefun mix of family games.

It is perhaps a little less challenging as an arcade game but it is a great mental exercise that helps the child develop skills of differentiation. In consideration of the family, the pictures are interesting and pure, no unsuitable content. It is easy for a young player to get the game started and playing without going through many options and menus. There are difficulty levels to encourage advancement and a star points systems to provide incentive.

This game should rate 5 stars for the family educational games category. I recommend that the publisher market this specifically in that genre. It deserves a better audience than the one it has received here today.

its a good game but too easy for me. Great graphics, user friendly environment but the only thing that disappointed me was that you can't make games out of your own pictures on your computer. LOL Apart from that, its a good game for kiddies or those who like less mentally challenging games. I also don't like the imprint of each piece that you see on the empty gameboard... kinda puts me off and makes it just too easy. I like something that has to make my brain work a bit harder in Jigsaw games. The other jigsaw game - Infinite Jigsaws - is the best so far! I love it! Thanks GOTD - you're doing a fantastic job! Now how about a "suggestion page" where all of us can dump our suggestions about what kind of software we would like you to put up here next for free *wink *grin LOL I reckon that would probably drive you nuts with all our wishes LOL (hugs) to you all.... sincerely, HILARY in SYDNEY

I agree with Jeff (#20) with the following exception:

Stating that the game is not worth the posted retail price is another way for us to relay our opinions of the game. If I say that "I would not pay $20 for this game but, I might be willing to pay $10 for this game" lets the developer know that I expect more game for the money. He then can decide if he wants to improve the game or lower the price to satisfy a customer. Or of course, he can leave it as it is and take his chances of it being a sucessful product.

Well, in theory anyway... ;)

For #20. I complain, because I am a user just like you, and the rest who leave their comments, and they made money with us. They don't give the games because they are good people only. Come on, it's a bussines, and we have the right to say if we don't like the game.

This game is similar to another Ele-Fun game offered here some months ago - Puzzle Mania. That was the one with the Unicorn. The only bad part is the same in both games. Once you catch a tip or magnet piece, it starts an odd music even if you have the music turned off! There is no way to stop it from that point on.

It downloaded and installed fine under Vista.

This is good for kids but way too easy for a serious jigsaw puzzler. I didn't find any problems with the mouse or anything like others mentioned. It's not bad for free but there's no way I'd pay for this one. Thumbs up for a cute kids game. Thanks GGOTD....keep em coming.

I need help - the points that I am supposed to receive do not register on the selection page. Each new puzzle I do takes away from the initial total but does not add for the points I gained on a completed puzzle so I cannot select unlocked items like change in puzzle pieces or new themes.

How do I get it to save the points?

Other than that I do like this but actually preferred the previous one from Elefun called Puzzle Mania The Story of the Unicorn.

Thanks GGOTD and Elefun.

Thanks for the puzzle,
But i have a comment for those who leave bad comments about the games you offer. Please keep in mind they are doing you a great service by giving you games for free. Please do not leave bad comments about games because you do not agree with what the game owners want to charge, or other things like i do not want this game so i will not down load it. Not one other person on the planet cares if you do not want to down load the game. Please leave comments only about the game itself. Some people decide weather they want the game based on the user rating percents and you ruin it for them leaving comments about other things besides the game itself.

A nice little game, as WhiteRabbit says, that is a bit too easy for experienced arcade players. Could use a difficulty slider to speed up the pieces and add more stars at a higher level of difficulty, and I don't like how the combo system for speed automatically cuts off and resets to level one after a certain number of pieces are played quickly. But it's a nice, pleasant play with inobtrusive music and okay themes.

FYI, Infinite Jigsaw (the one with the little japanese girl on the theme page, right?) had a serious bug for me. I use a widescreen monitor setup and every once in a while when rotating pieces or sections it would relocate my pieces elsewhere, sometimes completely off the board. I'm pretty sure it was because it had not "let go" of the piece I was just on previously and when I went to select another piece, added the distance from the mouse's current location to the previous piece's and moved the previous piece that distance - and sometimes completely off the edge of the board. One time I was completing a large puzzle and four pieces went missing completely - I think they moved themselves off the edge due to this (possibly widescreen-only) bug.

Jigsaw puzzles are great.. for those of you that want to put your own pictures in and make them any size you want, I highly recommend you go to http://www.brainsbreaker.com On that one you can even email puzzles to other people for them to do. It also allows you to adjust the size of the pieces and a setting to just show the outside edge pieces if desired. And they also give you url's to get other pictures to download in addition to the starter puzzle packs that come with it.

This one might be good for my little granddaughter since she likes puzzles and I usually have to find a picture she wants to do and set it for her so there's less pieces (like 15-20).

I feel like maybe I'm missing something here...

I do love a good puzzle game. Play them as often as I can. I really don't do jigsaws as I don't have all that much time to waste and if I left it out my cats would eat it. Nuff said about that...

This is a very nicely made game. I actually liked it a lot, but its missing something. Its obvious that its too easy, I guess thats one thing.. but no one seemed to mention (unless I missed it) that you don't even need to rotate the pieces. I think that's what really threw me. Apart from the ease of play, which is negligable, this is really a nice little game. Good graphics, good sound. I think the only way to really play it is in arcade mode. Thats the only real challenge.. but its nice to kick back with.

Would I buy it? Fraid not.

Should I download it? Yeah.. its worth the download. I gave it a thumbs up.

The only problem with this one is it will leave you with that Chinese Food Feeling... like you just ate but you're still hungry.

This puzzle is quite a nice game. I've played several, and the smooth feel of the game is very enjoyable. I've also got the last jigsaw giveaway, and I like both. This one for it's nice look and feel, the other one for inserting my own foto's.. both worth having.

Works in Vista, not for big children! Too childish, no way to increase puzzle size although the program accepts the input.

Not bad for children for a while but the lack of features to add your own photo's & change shapes makes this game of limited value & doesn't compare with Infinite Jigsaw puzzle that was given away a fortnight a go.

As a jigsaw fan, I found this disappointing.

For a start, the programme takes control of the mouse buttons, assuming all players will be right handed. It also presumes a QUERTY keyboard.

What appeared to be the setting for number of pieces (120, 240) did not seem to work as indicated, producing 12 and 24 instead, so these were kids' jigsaws. (Since the pieces run around the outside of the screen one by one, I don't see how a sufficient number could be provided in the available space for a puzzle with a lot of pieces.

There is a tracing of the image on the playing area which only very small children will appreciate. And locking particular images or styles of cut is an irritation rather than anything else. I opened, played and discarded this.

This isn't too bad as a timewaster - Not quite as good as the previous Jigsaw giveaway "Infinite Jigsaw" but still offers a new way of combining digital jigsaws and an arcade style gameplay.

The game downloaded and registered easily. I might take this as freeware, but would never pay for it as there are much better puzzles available for approximately the same amount of money that have many more features and are much more configurable than this one. Very basic puzzle game that has many pictures and puzzle piece variations locked until you gain a certain amount of points and does not appear to have the ability to make puzzles from your own pictures, have trays and has limited piece number options.

This is a good game, overall. It has soothing music, the gameplay is somewhat frantic but relaxing at the same time, and it has unlockable content. What's not to love?

I found it a bit too easy, even on the biggest puzzle size. It'd also be nice to be able to import my own pictures. Other than that, it's great.

Jigsaw Deluxe: A Review

Today’s giveaway is a jigsaw developed by Elefun Games and is a little over 18Mb.There’s very little information over on their web site about this game and I didn’t find any images to post. :(

The Game

A nice little jigsaw puzzle game that has several themes (8 in total) such as nature, cars, flowers and architecture. All the themes apart from nature are locked and you have to earn stars by completing a puzzle. The bigger the puzzle and the faster you complete the puzzle, the more stars you can earn to unlock more levels. You can choose from eight puzzle forms, that is jigsaw puzzles with different shaped lugs. There’s also four different sizes of puzzle to choose from 4x3, 6x4, 8x6 and 10x8. Completing the smallest puzzle (12 pieces) for example will give you 120 stars whereas completing the largest puzzle 80 pieces) will give you 800 points. These are small puzzles compared with what you can do with the jigsaw puzzle given away a few weeks ago that went up to 1020 pieces. (Infinite Jigsaw puzzle); though today’s makes it ideal for the kids, or the larger ones for adults who don’t have too much time to play games such as these.

There are two modes, arcade and relaxed modes. The former has the jigsaw pieces appearing from the left hand side on a sort of conveyor belt that moves quite slowly. Occasionally you’ll get bonus pieces such as a magnifying glass which when activated (by clicking on it) it will show you where a piece on the conveyor belt should go. While I was playing it I also got another bonus called a magnet, which when you click on a piece on the conveyor it will stick to the cursor. You wave the cursor around over the jigsaw and when you come near to the place where it belongs it’s attracted to it. You must complete the puzzle before the conveyor runs out of room, which is three sides of the jigsaw puzzle.

The relaxed mode I basically the same game but without the stress of having to get the pieces placed before your conveyor is full. The same bonuses apply.

You are further helped by the fact that the outline of every piece is shown on the puzzle board.

You can save your progress on any puzzle that you start.

System Requirements

Pentium 1000 or Highest
128 RAM,
Sound Card,
32MB Video Card

Conclusion:

Not a bad jigsaw puzzle for the kids. I would say it’s a little too easy for adults apart from the largest two played in arcade mode, though older children should be able to cope with those. I like the power ups, which add a more arcade feel to the game as opposed to infinite jigsaw puzzle that had no such thing, though Infinite Jigsaw was a much better game due to the ability to add your own images of any size as well as being able to change the size of the jigsaw up to massive proportions. Still this is an uncluttered and well presented game that is worth 7 out of 10 in my estimation.

I don’t particularly like the themes and puzzle formats being locked, but then again it wouldn’t be an arcade game then, lol

Thank you Elefun Games and the Game Giveaway project.

p.s.

I only discovered what todays giveaway was going to be about 90 minutes ago, so didn't really prepare a more structured review, still I think I covered the main points.
