The Game:
A standard resource gathering time management game, with a tutorial to start you off. Not my cup of tea, but a decent TM game nonetheless (apart from the sound effects, which become very monotonous very quickly. Well worth downloading if you are into this style of TM game. I don’t have time to play today, so no full review. Just a recommendation from my 10 minutes of game play to download this game.

After you've had an opportunity to play today's giveaway please take a few moments to give some positive or negative feedback; for example, what you liked or disliked about the game, or how it could be improved. If you don't like the genre at all, please explain why and if any, what improvements would change your mind? If you don't have time to post a comment today, please do so at your convenience, thank you. If you wish to post a review or comment about the game later, you can access the comments section by going to the game giveaways home page, then scroll to the bottom of the page where it says Archives and select the date the giveaway was live (giveaway days are in bold type). This will open up the appropriate page for you to post your comment or review. Alternatively, you can google the name of the game and include Gamegiveawayoftheday in the search. This should give you a list of links to whenever this game was given away.
If you miss today's game giveaway you can always get the game via MyPlayCity 24/7 HERE; or If you prefer to purchase the game you can get it HERE via Wild Tangent games (I seen to remember Wild Tangent required a game client and IMO their prices are expensive.
Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting D-Day: Through Time to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, you have a game to offer the community, or are unable to download the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve you can do so HERE
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away the Collectors Edition of D-Day: Through Time and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games.
Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway:
If D-Day: Through Time doesn't interest you, but you still hanker for something new to play, you'll find details of some game deals whether they be sale items, indie bundles or games being given away for free HERE (I've not updated the thread in a while, but most of the links still take you to the latest deals).
The rest of the information that used to be posted in the game review can be found in the forums HERE. Finally, check out Delenns threads for details of other free games and offers HERE and elsewhere in the game discussion forums HERE, (usually on the first page of the game discussion forums).

Hi, I just want to say that it still opens up MPC's browser after the game.

..................................Moderator comment.....................................

The browser opening to MPC's site earns them cash, part of which is paid to the developers of the games. None of the games you see on MPC's and other free games sites such as Gametop, and TooMky Games are actually free, they are shareware games. The developers agree to allow fully registered copies of their games to be downloaded free of charge so long as they are paid by the middleman i.e MPC.

I gave this a thumbs up. Pretty good, if standard, TM game. No surprises so far. Challenging enough in timed mode (called "Very Difficult") and fun in relaxed mode. It's very much like another game we had here a while back, with exactly the same sound effects. Can't remember which one, but it would have been nice to have a little variety in that regard. No real complaints though -- it's a good game and a keeper for me.

Thanks as always to GGOTD, MPC and Whiterabbit.

Ok Windows 10 x64 Pro. Onto D drive. Medium size folder. Did first 4 levels and like it compared to most of this genre.
Big reasons - guy (s) move fast on assigns that can be stacked. Most times you can begin a new task as soon as item is collected vs having to wait til guy completes return home for a second guy to start his assign, so always go for the extra guy or two. Couple nits might be like when it said "cover swamp" it wasn't enough to just do the bridge repair in lower right corner, you had to do the final little green 'swamp' beyond it. Well that last one looks just like the ones leading to bridge so I was figuring no need for that last one. No biggie because wasn't racing the stars clock.
Intro text is clever. Liked how there was the warning not to step on any butterflies while back in dino age. Clear reference to Chaos Theory about altering the timeline or how if something happens to a single butterfly here it impacts something else in another unknown place. Waiting to see how much freshness game offers as goes on. I mean IT IS much in the vein of this game format but for just casual pick up now & then it's relaxing. More cleverness could really elevate it. Remains to be seen if pans out. Thanks for chance GOTD.

Ila Turner
Today I was able to download in less than 11 minutes vs the usual 6 hr. window I'm usually shown when trying to download games. Time management games are my favorite and I'm sure that I will enjoy this. I'm pretty sick today, so won't get a chance to try it out. Thanks to everyone for all the help through out the week.

I am really enjoying this game. Thank heaven for the person on this site who told me that time management games can be relaxing instead of stressful! The settings are checked for expert, but that can be unchecked thankfully. I've played 6 or 7 levels so far and am enjoying the story (great little robot and lazy boss) and quests. I always turn off the music in games so I have no idea how good or bad it is. I haven't found anything that I feel needs improvement at this point.

Thank you again GGOTD and MPC for a great game!

I downloaded it and the for some reason when I go and launch the game it takes me to the MPC website like when I close the game instead of launching it, was looking forward to playing it, but I guess I won't

Same here. Windows 7, 32 Bit. Sad.

It's possibly something on your computer that is conflicting with the giveaway files. Try turning off background applications that are not necessary while playing games. Game Booster, which can be downloaded for free from the razer site automatically turns off all unnecessary background programs while a game is running. Or you could try turning them off one at a time and then try to install the game after each one has been turned off until you find the culprit. I know that is time-consuming, but it is one way of weeding out the conflict. Generally it's some security software that is blocking the installation due to the Themida wrapper.

I've had this for a few weeks, getting it from My Play City. I find it challenging, but not impossible. One tip I can offer - you don't have to clear all the roads to succeed, so that saves you time on the level if you want gold!!
But - I do have a question, that I've been wondering for a while - what is the difference between getting a game, and getting one that says "Collector's Edition"? I haven't been able to decipher any difference when I've compared both before unless I missed something...

........................Moderator Comment............................
Hi CatLady, The main difference is that the CE versions usually include extra content such as extra levels, wallpapers and sometimes a strategy guide.

the game cannot be activated
I m using windows !0

Hi Mohan, the most likely explanation is that the Themida wrapper is causing your security to block the game. Read the read me that comes with the game. Thank you..

During the unzip my Panda Antivus reported that Trj/RnkBend.A virus was detected in game.exe. I'm inclined not to run this just in case it is a real alarm.

........................Moderator Comment............................
Hi EagerEager, if there was any malware, you would see hundreds of comments on this site. As it is, the game is wrapped with a Themida wrapper, which is sometimes detected as malware because it has been used to hide malware. by unscrupulous hackers. Read the readme for more information. The giveaway team have been giving away games since November 2006 and have never given away game infected with malware.

lol, that is funny. I actually downloaded this about two weeks ago fro MPC. I love these type of TMG and I am the kind of person that can not move on to the next level if I didn't get gold. This one can be challenging in that regard. It is not just a matter of building and upgrading as quickly as possible and you are good... in fact, there are multiple levels where you hardly build anything. Currently stuck at pack 3 (Ice Age) where I have a level that I must have tried 30 times already but coming up short in time with just a few tens of a second. For fans of TMG this is a must play. I give it a 7 out of 10 but that is because these games lack replayability once you aced them :)

Thanks for the feedback Mavadelo, appreciated, especially as I've not had time to check the game out apart from the first couple of levels today and probably wont be able to due to family commitments.

Also, I apologize for not contacting you in ages. So many things have happened since you set up the review site and I'm still in the throes of a legal battle with my builder (which has been going on for almost 4 years now and has cost me thousands in legal fees already). Also, I've not seen any new rail videos of yours recently? I stopped buying games via Steam last Aug 2017 when I realized how much I'd spent via Steam since joining (over£40 000) and many of the games remain either unplayed or only partly completed, most by less than 10%. That said I have purchased several sale items recently that were on my really really want to buy wishlist; such as, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, Dirt 4 and the later Spin Tyres (90% off) plus several indie games. Sadly I've had to ignore the DLC for my favorite Train and Flight Sims. I was only able to buy those games because my son put some money into my Steam wallet for my birthday some months ago. I promised myself I wouldn't spend any more money on games until I'd put a very large dent in my games library; which will probably take many years as I've only been playing The Elder Scrolls Online (plus any game that I've had to review here) for the past 14 months apart from a few of my favorite breakouts and shmups. :)

This is a good time management game. I have only played the first 2 levels but I know I will enjoy playing it. It works well on windows 10.
