The plot of the game tells us the story of a lookout who witnessed the advancing forces of darkness. The guard, armed with just one crossbow, decides to warn his comrades with the help of signal lights.
Dark burial is a 2D platformer with a side view, the task is to complete the level and light the signal fire. On the way to the hero's cherished goal, we are waiting for a lot of puzzles that can be solved with the help of your crossbow and arrows. A huge number of enemies and traps will not make you bored.

Dark Burial

In Brief

A retro platformer with reasonably challenging levels.

Unfortunately I don't have time to play the game long enough to write up a full review. I did manage to get 10- 15 minutes of game play under my belt and would say, if you like semi challenging platformers (this depends on how many platformers you've played previously), with a retro feel to them this is well worth checking out (bear in mind I've not explored the game further than part way through the first level.

Make sure you read the intro screens of which there are two that immediately follow starting the game. These will give you a brief background story and information on the key bindings (see below)

Signal light/illumination - Shows which area's you can shoot your arrows into = Ctrl
Movement - A - Left and D - right or ← and →
Shoot arrow = J or F
Jump = Space
Jump down - S or ↓ + Space

When you start the game to get to the first platform you need to shoot an arrow into the object ( first highlight with Ctrl to see). Once you've hit the object (there is no aim facility; you have to shoot while jumping as the arrows only shoot perpendicular to the ground) you can jump onto the arrow which will then enable you to jump onto the first platform. You use your crossbow in this way to get to the end of the level. Avoid falling into the spiked pits otherwise you'll be transported to the beginning of the level. As I said I've only played the game for a short time, so cannot expand on what is ahead; you can see an 8 minute video of game play HERE.

The game has two language options and you can also use X Box and PlayStation controllers. You'll find details of the bindings for each controller in the options menu. The game is set to be released on Steam HERE.

Conclusion:

A reasonable platformer, that I would recommend downloading and trying for your self. If you managed to complete or get part way through platformers like Super Meat Boy, then this will probably be too easy, however if you are a novice or just plain bad at platformers, this will give you a challenge. The game did mess up my desktop. when the game booted up it changed my monitor resolution to the games native resolution which was much lower than my own. Unfortunately it also messed up my multi monitor display. When I closed the game, my monitor didn't revert back to its usual resolution; I had to open the display settings to change the display back to its usual resolution. However, this did not sort the issue with my multi monitor display. I had to reboot my computer to get my other monitors to work again. :(

Hi Dave, please do post the reply/decision you get from AVG about the file. The game giveawayoftheday check all files given away with several decent anti malware suites. They have never given away a game infected with malware in over 12 years since the game giveawayoftheday started giving games away.

It's unlikely to be malware otherwise many other community members would have been getting similar notifications. Still, thanks for posting.
