Introduction:

Have you ever seen impudent little dwarves? The hero of our game did see and became sick of them, which is the reason he went crazy and took up arms to rid himself of these dwarves. In later levels he will come up against other annoyances such as green zombies. You control, an ordinary guy, his only difference is the pistol a Kalashnikov assault rifle and grenades that he wields compared to the dwarves pistols.

Installation:

D.H.Trouble Guy downloads to a 47 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper the set-up file and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is approximately 47 MB in size.

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop; the shortcut to the game, plus three others ''Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and a shortcut to a free online game. These latter three shortcuts can be deleted once the game has been installed. The Themida wrapper may alert your security and even block the installation; there are details about this issue in the read me that unpacks from the downloaded zip file.

The Game:

D H Trouble Guy is a hard core side scrolling action platformer with shooter elements developed by Sun & Eyes. It was released on Steam a month ago; however the giveaway version looks like an earlier, or beta version of the game because some elements from the Steam release are missing; i.e. There's no life counter or bullet count.

You have two weapons to choose from, a pistol with a magazine of 9 bullets and a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a magazine of 20 bullets. To fire the pistol you have to depress the LMB for each bullet fired, whereas with the Kalashnikov, which is fully automatic, you just have to keep your LMB pressed to fire off a full magazine. to reload you need to release and press the LMB again or use the R key to reload at any time. You have unlimited ammunition, however, it is important to know how much ammunition you have left in your weapon before tangling with any of the enemy dwarves because once you've hit an enemy or moved close to them they will be alerted to your presence and will start to move around, shooting at you when in range. If you have to reload during a shoot out, you are likely to lose all your lives before reaching the end of the level.

You can look around each level using the ↑, ↓, ← and → keys to see where your impudent little dwarves dressed in suits are located (later you will encounter other enemies). To move your angry little man, use the A and D keys to move left or right and the W key to jump. Shooting at the brick structure of the level will after several shots destroy a section, allowing you to reach blocked off area's or lower areas of the level. You can also use the F key to throw grenades. These kill dwarves instantly. You can swap between your two weapons using the mouse wheel.

The game is definitely hard core (at least from my gaming abilities) as I could not get to the end of the first level before losing all my lives. I tried umpteen times without success, so have used the images from the Steam store, which show at least three different levels that are available. Watch out for land mines in later levels (if you make it that far), and you also collect those weird looking gnome like things, though the ones on the first level are unreachable.

Conclusion:

Definitely an improvement on those Sovkey games we've been getting recently. D.H.Trouble Guy is certainly a challenging game that may frustrate you with its hardcore game play. It certainly did frustrate me and I gave up after more than several attempts at trying to get past the first level. you'll need nimble finger work to avoid being hit by those pesky little dwarves and later green zombies. The in game music is far too energetic and loud, drowning out the other sounds from the game, and quickly becomes annoying. There are no options to turn the music down or isolate it from the in game sound effects. Despite this and an inability to pass the first level, I will be keeping this game to try and beat at a later date.
