Have installed but the game does not start after installing or after clicking its desktop icon. Reainstalled. Result is the same. Win 7 Ultimate.

Bascha,
Check the event log immediately after trying to get the game to work. If there are any issues it should be recorded in those logs. Also, check to see if the executable is still present in the games installed folder. It may be that your security software is deleting the game?

I wouldn't call it a big risk, but it is nice that developers are taking some. I'd have snagged it out in the wild had I heard of it since the last feature is enough to be a selling point. Thank you to you and the dev for taking time to post this one. OST needs to be longer, but it is the OST that the world should be aware of. Cheers.

The game installed fine but when I start it the window does not fill the whole monitor screen. There is about an inch across the top and bottom where you can see the desktop and its flashing real fast. Win7 system. Dell monitors. Other games run fine.

I changed the resolution and now its OK except I have no arrow. Tried on two different systems same problem. How do I get the arrow to show up?

Jerry, Perhaps you need to adjust your screen's resolution when playing this particular game.

My comments are based on play through of the first chapter in relaxed mode.
I think Crime Stories: Days of Vengeance has an unusual storyline for a match-3 game. It's styled as a film noir 1950s crime drama in which you're taking down a crime lord's network one mobster at a time. The noir voiceover, jazz, and visuals reinforce the theme.
It's similar to Duskless: The Clockwork Army, which was given away last week. The structure is the same, with a cut scene followed by a series of boards where you acquire enough resources to clear out one of the mobsters' strongholds on the map. It looks like the same game engine with artwork by the same team. And possibly the same voice artists, too.
So far, the resource you need to acquire on the boards is gold. The other game pieces are drugs, weapons, bullets, jewels, and gambling chips. So you might not want this for kids.
In both games, I wish there were a way to quit from the map. You have to load the game board to get access to the menu. And quitting out takes several more steps. Not the best user experience.
In contrast to Duskless, the tutorial is uneven and lacking. There were a few hints at the beginning, and then nothing. No explanation of what the power ups do. In a cut scene, a character mentioned that grenades would be helpful, and a while later, I happened to notice a grenade power up. That's when I realized he'd been talking about an actual thing.
There was no explanation that with each game board, you acquire resources to buy locations on the map. I was already aware of it because it's the same mechanic as in Duskless. Without having played the other game, I might not have thought to click on the tiles that buy the locations.
The hints prompting you to swap tiles are WAY too fast. Sometimes, the hint pops up while the cascade of matches is still running. I find it distracting -- they're not even good suggestions -- and would prefer a longer delay.
(Also: Again with docking stars without stating why.)
This shows what a difference the styling can make to the gaming experience. I loved the ambient music in Duskless, compared to the jazz noir piano and saxophone here. I also prefer that game's steampunk aesthetic to the mid-century casinos and theater lights of Crime Stories.
All said, I am enjoying the story and will probably finish the game. Recommended, especially if you like the noir theme.

tinyearl,
Excellent feedback; thank you for taking the time to post this especially bearing in mind I didn't post a review of the game today, just some screen captures and a very brief thought.

Nice game relaxed mode no problems

I like the storyline and the music, but wish it could have been in a HOG game. Match 3 games don't keep my interest, even in relaxed mode. Hate timed mode. But I'll keep it.

Very odd ... every time when I try to shut down the music and the sound or put it lower, the program shuts down.
I solved the problem with lowering the computer sound... but shouldn't be that way.
I'm on win10, 64

The game is up my street today so I'll be giving it a try in a minute, but just to say I know all about keeping buns with dental problems going - I had a lovely lad some years ago who needed hand-feeding every few weeks. He lived until nearly 10 years old! Good luck!
