..alot more fun than i had thought it might be. harder too , because the spider does move abit slow. the art on the insects is great. the shop is quite real, power webbing (my guess, its webbing ) vials with potion ( spider mage ) and assted. items. download and try , your out nothing if you dont like it.

RDC, I don't know when you started visiting, but I still have Mad Cars and Race Cars and played both a lot. The only problem with Race Cars is that it doesn't give an indication of how many races and what type it requires to access a new car. However, the Beemer is available at first and seems to be at least one of the best anyway. Thanks G-men for the two sites. I would like to see some of the massive games, which I didn't have time to download on dialup, available at the wikifortio which seems to allow faster downloads.

No# 18....I had the same problem many times and not just with this game. I have found that I always have to click on the MIRROR link for the downloads to work and not come up with ERROR file not on server or server not found. Good luck.. Perhaps GotDay can let us know why this is happening.?

Butterfly Hunter is a cute, no brainer game you can play when you need to blow off stress.
I do agree the spider doesn't move fast enough so the game is frustrating and I am glad I am getting this for free- but I think we expect alot out of getting free games, for petes sake it is free and it's not a demo and it's legal!!
As a newcomer to this website, I was so excited to find Giveawayoftheday.com What a great idea!! For those that have been on for awhile, maybe you should take a step back and reread your comments, because to a newcomer it sounds like you all are being kinda ungrateful!!
If you don't like it, don't download it or delete it- No harm no foul.
Be patient and wait, there will be a game to your liking coming soon.

Hello everybody, I think the game is a hoot. My grandchildren love it. I also downloaded the other game demos for them to try. Gemsweeper absolutely demolished my computer. When I tried to open it, it did a number on all the games I had in my games folder. Anything with 3D or active x were unaccessable. You can emagine my disgust. Fortunately, the software give away of the day was a program to fix things. I downloaded it , did a restore , and everything was as it was before. I will delete, uninstall, and never download anything from that game provider again. BEWARE. Thanks to giveawayoftheday. Advanced Windows Care is a jewel. You need it if you intend to game. This game ran on my computer without errors. FINALLY! This is only the second game I've downloaded from this site which ran.

I didn't care for it, though. The spider was sluggish and the explanations weren't very good. After getting up to level 3 in Campaign mode, it brought me to a high scorer screen, let me type in my name and then when it brought me back to a choice of Campaign or Action mode, Campaign started again from zero. As far as I can tell, there's no way of retaining points and advancing beyond level 3, too, which makes the Shop function kind of useless, since the spider moves so sluggishly, it's impossible to catch enough insects to buy any of the better extras that will help to catch more. There is also a timer in Campaign mode, which I thought only ran during the Action mode, but as soon as I catch only a few insects in Campaign mode, it times out.

I found the music annoying after a while and had to turn off the speaker.

With this game as a giveaway you get what you pay for. I certainly wouldn't waste any money buying it.

A small and very basic game. Not my sort of thing, I prefer games that require some sort of thought process ie. sim or strategy.

But, having said that, nice game for small children - in small amounts. Would become quite boring after a while. But hey, it's free!

This game is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!

You are a spider catching insects - different kinds of insect are worth varying amounts of money when the spider sells them (!!) at the end of each level, the most being from the rare and wonderful "Stag Beetle", a ferocious looking beast worth no less than $149-$151. From the money he makes from his catches, the spider goes along to the Spider Shop to "choose a thing that he wants to get" - all different contraptions to make catching insects easier!!! Perhaps I need more caffeine but I am literally crying with laughter here!!!

Despite the fact that this is perhaps another game from the Double Games family, as I said yesterday I do think that each game should be evaluated on its own merits instead of being berated for past game flaws. There is nudity in the game but then since when did insects wear clothes?!? I truly believe, despite myself being against the use of cartoon naked women in past games (which were only 2 out of many anyway), that we should all move on and stop being against Double Games from the moment we see a possible connection.

This game has 2 different modes of play - "Campaign Mode" and "Action Mode", the action mode being timed. The cartoony graphics are gorgeous (note how tiny blue butterflies flutter about on mouse-over of the menus)and the music pleasant, the latter having the ability to be turned off instantly during play from a music note button in the top right of the screen. The option to have the game windowed or full-screened is also available.

The trouble I found with the game is that it is very hard to move the spider along. This is done using the mouse but the spider does not move quickly enough and this becomes somewhat frustrating, having to keep at the mouse to get him where you want him, by which time the insects have moved on anyway. This was very distracting and having played a few times to try and see if it got any easier, it didn't, and as such this is not a game which I would be likely to play again.

Despite this, the game is staying on my computer because it has made me laugh so much and the "choose what you want to get" screen leaves me with mascara all over my face (the sleep deprived evidently shouldn't play these games........). This makes the whole game and the developers sound such fun with an amazing sense of humour, it is hilarious and a tongue in cheek idea that I have found just too funny!

Good morning everyone!

A 'Goldminer Joe', and 'Fishing Trip' clone.

The game downloaded/activated and installed without incident, including during in-game play. I couldn't play this game for very long, due to its boredom factor - even 'Fishing Trip' has more to it than this game does.

The graphics though simplistic, are lovely, well done, with nice colors that invite you to play and enjoy.

The music, though I thought it was ok in the beginning, quickly became annoying and found me reaching for the on/off toggle button.

The instructions screen, explains the differences between 'Campaign Mode' and 'Action Mode'. I felt that the 'Instruction' windows were all over the place, with a structure that was sadly unintuitive - and I found myself going back over the same screens a couple of times.

However, each individual instruction (such as they are,) is understandable and does help with ease of game play. I also found a couple of misspellings, but no-where as bad as a few previous offers have been. Still this should be addressed by the developer.

If you've ever played one of the aforementioned games, you'll know exactly how to play this game anyway - and that's a sad comment, in and of itself.

The 'Interface' explanations offer on and off toggling for sound effects; on and off toggling for the music; full screen or window mode; Exit to 'Start' or to operating system. These are all available during game play and can be accessed from the top, right corner of the window.

I did find it somewhat educational for kids as it correctly named real butterflies and gave you a brief description and background on each one.

Age group recommendation is for 7+ to 11 years of age - and yes I know that it's a limited window for age groups - but anyone younger won't have the co-ordination and anyone older is going to get bored - f-a-s-t.

Points:

3 for nice but simplistic graphics;

0 for dreadful music;

- 2 for confusing (read: messy) layout of instructions and explanations;

- 2 for being a clone of an old game - no originality;

+ 2 for being educational.

TOTAL = + 1 - and a most definite thumbs down.

To recap - game clones are becoming less and less welcome, (not to mention less enjoyable,) while innovative and adept game developers come up with unique games or at least older games with a decent twist.

The price of $14.95 is over-inflated for a game that is worth only $10 for the CD of this game - to be found in the bottom of the Walmart specials basket.

Thank you Free Games Area for joining us here today, but you'll find us a critical lot; hundreds of gamers with higher expectations than playing or owning this game - even for our teenagers.

Hopefully, a few of your other games, such as:
'Private Eye: Greatest Unsolved Mysteries'; 'Gemsweeper' and 'Profitville', will also be offered here also. Now those would be worth playing, reviewing and keeping.

This game is actually available for free from several legit web sites. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but giving away something that is already free is no big deal, guys. That said, this is a fun game for the kids, and it's good CLEAN fun. Also, I think it's important to say that you GGAOTD, you guys have saved me a ton of money on games. I got an error the first 3 times I tried to download that the file was not on the server. On the 4th try, it worked. It's an ok game for the little ones, but I don't think I'll keep it. Thanks GOTD for all the free games.

100 Pts. It IS Fishing Trip just placed from water into the air. Set fisherman=spider, set fish=insects, and you know why the developer has to be Double Games. Everything is made alike.
Almost all of D.Games productions given away so far have been a mere crap but these two really provide *some* playing fun not to speak of the lovely graphics.

Hello Mr Fishing Trip Game didn't we see you before. Your new disguise nearly fooled us but as soon as we tried the gameplay we saw it was our old friend.

Ok em thanks for the game (and despite the sarcasm I do appreciate them). Basically if you have young children and didn't get the simple fishing trip game then this might be fun, however if you're older or already have the fishing trip game then it's not really worth downloading.

Never mind we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Isn't this just the Fishing Trip game from a few weeks ago with different graphics? Hopefully, they did a better job on the Engrish this time around...
