I just started trying it. Game play seems to be good. I didn't read the 'readme' since most games have basic playing info in the 'help'. What may have been the best thing is that the download site seems to have a built-in accelerator. This is great for dialup users. Thanks.

Just plain love it. I have always liked breakout games but was getting tired of them, this adds an extra 'dimension' to the play.

Breakout Shooting downloaded and installed beautifully on XP with, as yesterday's game from the same developers, pleasingly no extra advertising icons in any menu or folder.

On starting the game up the first thing I noticed was the work that had gone into what can only be described as gorgeous graphics - even the logo of the developer, RealApex, which is the first thing that appears, is animated and akin to those of professional movie companies.

Throughout the game beautiful photos of astonishing landscapes provide the backdrop to play, the game board itself transparent in contrasting shades of purples and blues. The entire experience of playing Breakout Shooting is futuristic - the landscapes are overlapped with planetary type see-through orbs and even the menu with its rippling golden water effect on mouse-over and animated gold cursor shows that much thought has gone into the design throughout.

Unlike yesterday's game the music is not just tolerable but enjoyable to listen to. Keeping with the atmosphere of the design, the music is somewhat "trancey" and provides a suitable background to play. It can be lowered down or muted as can the sound effects, the controls of which are separate. Backrounds can also be turned off to a solid purple from this page, but they are so spectacular I can't imagine anyone wanting to. The menu for the sound/ background is once again designed beautifully and differently from the other menu, again showing that extra work has gone into it.

Differing from yesterday's game once again, today's program has built-in help pages explaining the rules and modes of play of which there are many from which to choose. You can play alone or against the computer and can choose your level of skill beforehand.

Playing is enjoyable and easy to pick up, the board is designed somewhat like a chess-board and you aim your balls at your opponents', the winner being the first to knock the other's out of play. A high-score board is provided at the end of the game.

For the far more basic (albeit addictive) game that yesterday's was it seems incredulous that RealApex are pricing it at $10 higher than today's. Almost 5 times the size in terms of MB and with intricate attention to detail and streamlined design, Breakout Shooting is a joy to play, undoubtedly fun for all ages and definitely one that should be kept in your computer's games folder.

Good morning everyone!

This game is a combination of breakout, pool and marbles - and you need the skill of all three to get through this game which is thoroughly enjoyable!

The game downloaded/activated and installed easily on Windows XP Pro without incident. Just follow the instructions in the zip file and there will be no problems with the installation.

Upon launching the game, the player is met with a small box, allowing you to choose either the options or go straight into the game. I chose options first, as I always do.

Options include window/full screen - resolution (I changed mine to 1280 x 1024 - bitdepth, I left mine at 32 - refresh rate, I left at the default - 85 Hz. Choices also included the ability to disable both sound and music.

Press ok at the bottom of the original small box - press play. The 'help' screen is minimal, showing you the bonuses (but not explaining them,) and the fact that you have to knock all the balls off the screen to win the level. It also explains something about playing against the computer, but it's difficult to understand and the wording needs to be addressed again by the developer.

Once out of that screen and press play, you will be faced with a screen that you'd expect to see in most games. 'New Game,' 'Load Game,' 'Options,' 'Help' 'Hi-Scores' and 'Exit.'

This options screen has separate volume sliders for sounds and music. - It also has an option to play without the backgrounds, if you prefer nothing behind your play. Personally, I find it pleasing to have a background with my games - providing the graphics are well done.

Well - these graphics are EXCELLENT. They look very professional with great colors and animation that is smooth, with a true approach to the physics of the game. Even the shine on the balls is lovely to see.

There are three choices for play: 'Arcade,' 'Expert' and 'v Computer.' I chose the shortest game in Arcade mode - 15 levels. Interestingly, you can choose to play Arcade in three different lengths of game - '15 Levels,' '25 or 30 Levels.'

Once in play, the playing field consists of 8 balls spread along the bottom of the screen - these are yours to shoot upward - wherever you aim.

The configuration of the balls you need to hit are unique to every level - so you never get bored with game play. If your ball doesn't hit the side of the gaming area, it will fall back down for you to use again - however if it gets deflected to any wall and hits it - you've lost it. This takes some skill and planning.

Every now and then, one of the balls you need to hit begins to glow white - these are the ones that contain your power-ups - so go for them ASAP, before they stop glowing or you've lost your chance to benefit from them - after a short time they'll turn back to ordinary balls.

Keep an eye on your power meter on the right side - this indicates how well your game will develop power-up balls. You can manually increase this by clicking on it till it reaches 100% again.

To recap - this game is a LOT of fun to play - it may seem a little easy in the beginning - but trust me it DOES get difficult. ;)

Also - Make sure you read the system requirements at the top of this page - if you don't have what is shown or better - you may not get the same results as I've indicated here.

My thanks go to Real Apex for giving us this wonderful game to review! Also it's lovely to see that you have joined our increasingly growing family of software houses that enjoy our reviews. It will benefit you in terms of referrals to your website, especially if what you offer is of quality standard - as this game happens to be.

You have an awesome selection of games on your website, will there be any chance of reviewing your Mystery Case Files series of games soon?

Thank you always to GOTD, whose commitment to this initiative is just awesome! You are ALWAYS my first stop when I launch my browser in the mornings! :)

Have a wonderful day everyone! ;)

Another game based on geometry, this one reminds me of playing pool.
1. The object is to clear the playing field of it's balls.
2. You get several cue balls which automatically return to their starting point as long as you don't knock your ball off the playing field.
3. You can adjust percentage of power for hitting your ball and get power ups for hitting certain balls on the field.
4. There's an option to play the computer with a different configuration - your balls lined up against the computer's. Then it's elimination time and you have to be careful to avoid knocking yourself out of the playing field as well.

There's a decent menu, adjustable music, sound, fullscreen, and choice to have no background although I found them very nicely done. Perhaps this feature would be appreciated by those with low vision. The music is techno, at low volume it did not get on my nerves.

The tutorial plays at the beginning of every game, that is annoying. (At least I haven't found a way to turn it off or opt out of it) Luckily it is brief and is incorporated into the first screen of play. It's an enjoyable game, but not enough I think to keep for more than a day or two before I tire of the repetition.

Thanks RealApex and GGotD for the opportunity to own the game. I tell my friends about your site and your ticker is on my blog.

Well-made game. Excellent graphics and physics. Not a breakout--no paddle. As #3 said, more like marbles. Hard to describe in a few words.

Good choice GAOTD. RealApex seems to be a very professional game developer. Extreme opposite of Doublegames. :)

Activated and installed fine.

Nice graphics, good gameplay (at least with a mouse, haven't tried other controls; don't know if other controls are even supported). Everything works and acts smoothly, audio is OK (don't know about the music, I turned it off within the options menu before I played it).

Never played this kind of game before, it feels like a hybrid between breakout and marbles. It can be challenging, but I don't know if this game is really made for me. I'll give it a chance.

Thanks go out anyway to GGAOTD and RealApex for the offer. And a thumbs up for the way the game is put together.

This is a great game! I'm not a fan of usual breakout or "shoot-em" games that require fast action. (since I'm a great-grandfather and no longer have those reflexes) However, this game requires some thought and planning rather than nimble fingers.

The thing that I appreciate most is that when downloading and installing the game, those annoying icons for the website were not put on my desktop. It's not a big chore to delete them when others clog up the screen, but it's nice when a company doesn't put them there in the first place.
