To the person who can't get their games to register-
Read & follow the readme, please. If you have Vista, u may have to install as administrator. Reading these comments helps too, we have to tell someone this almost every day.

To #5 by Spiritwolf, sometimes I feel that way also. But in fact, a lot of people may have posted before you, and their posts are all in queu to be checked. So sometimes you may think you're the first post, when in fact 19 or so have already posted before you. It's just that none have past the moderation point yet. But I agree it's not so great when people judge a game without even playing it, or even if it's a type of game they don't like from the description and they give it a thumbs down. A post should be warrented to vote. But then, people complain about nondescript posts: i.e, "I like it!/I don't like it." So I guess ya just can't win.

Since when did anyone vote cheery mediocrity down? (cough election year cough)
It has a sense of humor, on the case! I look forward to the review in Play magazine, sort of steganographically stuck into screenshots of other games.

LOL dog: 'Most computer people are children.' Why not just 'Most coasties' or 'Most erudite people' or 'Most recently educated people (incl. senior postgrads) are children' ?

Thx, GAOTD, for all the hard work you do and for the free games and other downloads. So what if some aren't really all that exciting, at least they're free. Quit showing ingratitude people! Sheesh!

As usual, most of the"reviews" sare from people who haven't even tried the game, and all they know is what they read from the description. Why don't they just go outside and play, instead of wasting time at the computer. You say the same of me? Well, ok, but I am a grownup, old in fact. You children (most computer people are children) don't you have better things to do?

If this is indeed a rehash of Brave Dwarf, someone needs to get that company a thesaurus.

==NOT A REVIEW== Just a comment...
I always scroll first to read WhiteRabbits review first and I actually passed it at first. Never seen one so short.. though to the point and dead on as usual. I was laughing so hard I scared my cat.

==>ATTENTION 'SOME COMPANY'
I think perhaps you should REALLY take WhiteRabbits/Stephens review to heart here. The man ALWAYs has positives for every game and although his comments are not negative.. it is obvious this game is lacking in many ways and so much like the mentioned that it is a waste of further resources.

One again.. thank you so much Stephen for ALL your info/reviews/help/freebies .. and today's laugh. Hope you sleep well and have a wonderful day. Can't wait to see what you got for us tomorrow!

I'm starting to wonder if Some Company even exists or if it isn't a Giveaway owned thing. There is actually a somecompany.com, but it has nothing to do with games or anything else I can tell and somecompany.net just has a short video I found rather funny. Other than those, there seems to be no such thing as "Some Company", which leaves me to believe that it's either a substitute name, like anonymous, or these games are developed by someone on the Giveaway team. I suppose there could be another possibility, but I can't think of any.

If this comment doesn't get posted, it will only confirm that what I have said is the case.

This isn't just similar to 'Brave Dwarf' it's exactly the same with only the ingame level having a different background. The readme with Brave Dwarf even mentions the main character of this game as a character. It looks like one game has been split into 3. Brave Dwarf, Brave Alchemist and as a witch character is also mentioned in the readme look out for Brave Witch next.

well..i don`t like this kind of mindless gaming with no plot and the story kinda suck too.the music are not very good and i m not talking about the quality.lol.
the keys are quite easy but the character are moving in a funny way and he can`t run around the the camera is fixed on one spot.not able to change view and then it is just not fun to play.
it deserve 4.5/10.
well i hope for better games next time=/.Thx anyway.

Well it's like this - I have purchased games and thought they were crap when I tried them and I couldn't take those back. Here, I get a free gamed and if I like it, I keep it. If I don't like it, I uninstall it. It's pretty simple. As for Some Company, perhaps they are the only game developer who wishes to donate games to GGAOTD just now. Be happy to have a game to try for free people. Anything else is simply lack of appreciation for the things we can all try from this site. I like the cute little games to play when I take a break from working.

So Thanks GAOTD - I really appreciate the software offered here.

These games are really basic, but what would you expect? Some producers will give there good games for free? Like Call of Duty 4 or something.

Well, thanks for the afford GAOTD, but no thanks on these games.

I tried it, I didn't like it. Couldn't seem to kill enough enemy even using both mouse buttons. A game isn't much fun if you can't get past the first level.

Thanks for the helpful time saving comments & scores,
Sure are a lot of lame game control, lousy play structure
lately esp from this Some Company. Keyboard controls don't
make it nor do 'swarm' style. Might give MageCraft a shot.

This thing was created using the very same tools used to create Brave Dwarf and 2 other recent game giveaways.
I hate cheap stuff made using an outdated version of 3D Game Studio.
It is said here that this game is offered for ~10$, where do I buy it then ? I don't even know who created the game. There's no license, so anyone is free to do anything with the game right ?
A really big thumbs down.
P.S.: I wonder where did GAOTD get this.

O.K. I've counted 10 Some Company games in the past 7 months. Not 1 of them worth a download. Considering that these giveaways only occur on the weekends (sometimes), I have to say that I've been fairly disappointed. I still thank Bubba and Slava and the rest for their efforts, but some of us who have been coming here for a long time know that they are capable of much more. I guess we all got spoiled?
Just my opinion - so let me have it - I can can take it.

Okay, I've just posted Mondays weekday game. Well it's actually four games. Thee cool space shooters (with excellent graphics for free) called Starwraith: Shadows of Orion, Starwraith: Reduction and Riftspace. And finally the fouth game continues the theme of RPG. It's the first of the Elder Scrolls series, which is probably one of the best of it's type available today. The original has many of the elements of the later games including the large world to explore, though it's graphics are typical mid 90's graphics. Still, if you like RPG games and have never played any of the elder scrolls games I recommend you at least try that game. :)

You can download all four of Monday's games now by following the link below:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/3991

Have a great week folks. I've got some excellent games for this coming week that will be posted over in the forums. You don't need to subscribe to download from the links I provide, but you will if you want to leave a comment. This weeks games include a great puzzle game and at least one other classic game (not including the Elder Scrolls I: Arena) from the 90's.

regards

Whiterabbit

I can't wait until next week when GGoD puts a new skin on the exact same game, and releases Brave Fireman! I'm also looking forward to Brave Dog-catcher and Brave Paperboy.

Actually, all three of those sound 10 times better than anything 'Some Company' has released on here. And we all realize that these are not actual retail games, but some college kid's terrible class projects.

I'd rather have nothing than this garbage.

I scanned it with AVG as the straight download then unzipped and again when the "installer" unzipped it,it is clean. The AV you used might be getting a false positive from the packer it uses. It's like the one virus writers use.
The game is just a shooter, fast but boring.

Since there is no way given in these "Some Company" games to download a trial version or go to the "Some Company" page and purchase a copy of these once the offering is over these apear more like abandonware not commercial games. I personaly don't believe the first part of:

"The program is available for $9.95, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer."

Only mention I find of "Brave Alchemist" on google in first few pages is in multi language promos of todays offering here and no other source at all!

I took Stephen's advice about checking out yesterday's offering despite being from Some Company, but it was a dud and I think I'll pass on this one as people are saying it's the same as the one before.

There are a number of free games with the same premise, such as MageCraft by DarthLupi, which I recommend. It has inferior graphics but the gameplay is good. It's not easy, but you can retake missions as many times as necessary and retain the experience even if you die.

Is it just me, or do a lot of these Some Company offerings look like your basic Diablo-style game engine with different skins? I have to wonder if they use the same engine in all of them, and just slap in some new graphics to make a "new" game. Sure looks like it.

Old school installer.... Unzip files to a location. from there double click the Icon.. 1 advantage, no registry keys, so if you want to delete the game, just remove the folder..

If you like shooters, itcan be a nice game.. simple, just shoot all objects before they reach you..
graphics are fine, soundquality is ok too.. Only if you are killed, the soldiers slash into you, with a sound as is you are swimming in your own blood ore something..

In this range of games its a nice game, but personally i wouldn't pay for it... so thanx, GOTD...

Thank you for all of your game posts. Me and my family look forward to the weekend for the game posts. Just to let you know that we are blessed by them! My kids really liked Master of Defense and games like that and the brick busting game. I am handicapped and am on a limited income and this website and the techie stuff help me some of the times. This game is basically Brave Dwarf with different backgrounds so if you missed that game from a few weeks ago you can read all about it by following the link below and reading all the comments there.

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/brave-d-warf/#comments

One thing I did notice for if the developer decides to read these comments. You are unable to pick up the potions and spells that appear when enemies are killed in the upper periphery of the playing area. The graphics look slightly better than Brave Dwarf, but other than that there's nothing different about them that I can see after a very short play.

I.m off back to bed....:)

Have a great Sunday folks.
