I really liked this game at first and gave it a thumbs up. I will add now that, the ending seemed a bit rushed. After running all around to find everything needed, the last frame ended like a slap. It was as though the developers got tired at the end and just wanted to finish so they could get some sleep.

I'm a fan of the genre and Alawar always delivers. It has a vague feel of amanda rose the game of time, though I think the developers were different, it has music from Sergey Elgazin / Constatin Elgazine and some of the animation is similar. I'd have loved the hand drawn look polished cutscenes but these aren't bad. The interface is nice and it's difficult enough. I like it so far. Thanks for showcasing it. i'm using win7 x86

So... today, it WORKS! lol... maybe it needed to rest from the ordeal of being installed. ;>)
Whatever... I have played it a bit before leaving for class and I like it! THANKS GGAOTD!
I like the artwork. It doesn't seem dark or blurry to me at all. I like the fact that they didn't clog up my hard drive with animations, 3-d or video that I don't bother with anyway. I like the fact that the hidden object images stay the same (this is a "decompress & chill out" pasttime for me, not a brain challenge!) and the game mechanics are good (I don't have to stress about clicking the EXACT pixel to choose the object).
This game was well worth the download and install and waiting for it to start working. It's FREE, so it is worth WAY more than I "spent" on it in terms of time, download bandwidth and install and storage on my HD.
Thanks again!

The fifth time I downloaded the game, the download took a bit longer and it just installed fine. I didn't do anything special. This makes me think that the first four times there was just something wrong with the download itself, although I didn't get any interruptions during the download or anything else that could have affected the file. Why the fifth download worked correctly? I have no idea? :-)
(Unzipped with Winrar and Browser Firefox)

Thanks again for a great game! The graphics are really nice and the game play is interesting because it's a mix of puzzles and HO. The storyline makes me think of Alice Through the Looking Glass because I always wondered what her mother would have done had she know Alice had gone missing! Installed with no problem for PC Win7 Home Prem Edition.

Windows XP x64. No prolems at all, exept that the game is too much childish. Did you noted that Whiterabbit aka Stephen did not scored this game at all, inspite of his usual habbit?

Sorry that I downloaded the game so late in the day and just now can post a comment, but I may have found something useful to share. After extracting the files and clicking on the executable file, it did not open in Windows 8.1. I right-clicked on that file and chose to "Run as Administrator." Then on the next attempt, the game opened just fine and I was able to play it without any further problems. When I closed the game, I got a message from Windows that some compatibility adjustment was made automatically. I looked at the properties of the executable file and on the "compatibility" tab it showed the option to "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" was checked. I hope this may help others who were unable to run the game. Thanks as always to GGOTD and Alawar for the game, and guidance from others' helpful comments!

Hi, Connie T - I like the way You're so eloquently defended this Game (especially HO, my favorite genre), what made me giggle thou is Your reference to Whiterabbit's Review in post1 (I don't see any other '1's here) and notion that He might be that 'horrible Gamezebo game snob'?..:) Honestly, I don't think when it comes to Games - He can, or would try to put anyone off! It's been always a case 'each to its own' and we can be as 'snobbish' (or not that choosy?) as a next person who plays the same game knowing how much pleasure he/she gets out of it (so why would anyone poo poo it..) Well, it's a beauty, diversity and democracy of this Site that users are allowed to post their own EXPERIENCES with any given Game. The same goes for Moderator, but the final 'word' belongs to us, users, and Stephen always respects that.

Hi,
I took a little bit of time to download on 8.1. Set up and ran smooth. No problems with game play. Had to guess at what to do
a couple of times and meander around, but did a few levels and easy so far to find things. Graphics are good!
Thanks for another good game! and Happy Heart Weekend all!

Hi, You Wrascally Wabbit!
As you know, I am not a fan of HOGs. But because a lot of people were having trouble downloading it. I tried it.
It downloaded and installed fine for me. I am using Win7 64 bit, Firefox 35.01 to download and used WinRAR Pro to unzip. My antivirus software is Comodo. So sorry. I don't know what the problem is.
It's an OK HOG. It mostly gives the stuff away. Nice to have the puzzles and minigames but it's not something I will probably even finish.
Hugs to you and your family, Oh Furry One! We are in refrigerator/cooler weather here. I am so sick of snow. :(

Using Windows 7 64 bit. Game downloaded and played through the entirety with no issues. I wasn't paying that close attention but it seems to me that after using the self extractor I had to extract again with 7 zip. I'm no computer geek, so excuse me if I'm stating the obvious. Thanks to Alawar and the team!

I don't know why you were having problems, I downloaded and installed on Win 8 64 bit with no issues, unzipped and played the whole game, never crashed. It was fun, but a bit confusing. You start by finding objects on the game screen, but then you have to find objects for the current screen on other screens, having to switch between scenes to locate all the objects. I'm not a big fan of HOG, but this one kept me engrossed. The best part is that it's not monochromatic, like many HOG tend to be in at least some screens, which makes my old eyes have a hard time locating items. I give it a 7 overall.

Downloaded and installed just fine on Win 8.1 desktop. Actually really enjoying this; will probably finish tomorrow. It's true it's not that hard, but I've come to hate HOGs that hide the objects so well that no one could ever find them, so this seems to have just the right touch of challenge. Same with the mini-games, which range so far from easy to challenging-enough and provide a nice break from the HOG aspect. Definitely a thumbs-up though far from the greatest. My own real complaint is the spelling errors. Not only does the game install, as another commenter mentioned, into "BehingTheReflection" instead of "Behind", but there are spelling errors in the game, too (like "sings" instead of "signs"). Seems sloppy if you're designing a commercial game. Overall, though, so far a positive reaction.
Save | Cancel
I found that the GGOTD version installs by default into a folder named "BehingTheReflection_game" instead of "BehindTheReflection_game", so maybe the mistaken "g", instead of a "d", in what should be "Behind" is causing the non-starting problem. Just something to check.

Same here, Lucretia. If you find a way to fix it, I hope you post it here!

I am having trouble running the program, too. As I mentioned in replies, I really want to play this game and I have never had trouble with GGAOTD or Alaware on my current computer.
Downloads fine; installer works; double-click the game .EXE and nothing happens.... make a shortcut from the game .EXE and this doesn't work either.
I have Win 7 - 64bit Home Edition
Do you think the fact that the installer installs to/from a folder named "behinGthereflection_game" instead of "behinDthereflection_game" would make a difference? As a test, I changed the name of the folder in C:\Games to use the "d" instead of "g" in "Behind" but it did not make a difference.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Cyn

I was able to install the game but the .EXE to start the game does nothing.
Like TISCREA, I am going to leave it on my hard drive in case a solution is offered. I really want to play this game.

It won't start for me, either. However, I am really disappointed. I like just about all HOGs and I liked the graphics in the review and really wanted to play this one.
I have Windows 7 and I have never had any trouble with the other GGAOTD games from Alawar and have not had any trouble at all with GGAOTDs on this computer.
Is there something I can do to try to troubleshoot? I tried running the .EXE as an administrator and that didn't work... I'm grasping at straws!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Cyn

I don't know if this makes any difference - but the game unzips to a folder named "Behing the Reflection", not "Behind . . ."
I haven't tried it yet, but I noticed the error as I unzipped it.

Oh yeah, it's worth noting this is a 4 star game at Big Fish! BF players are some serious gamers, and they don't rate junk highly. You won't go wrong getting games highly rated by the BF community.
I hope that horrible Gamezebo game snob doesn't put anyone off a perfectly decent game.

Well, I've tried three different times and it still won't work. Since it's so short anyhow, I'm just gonna pass on this one. I experienced that same as many others: Downloaded, Extracted, Clicked on exe, nothing. :-( I have Win 7, Home Edition, X64.

What a horrible review to post on this game! (#1) I remember playing this and enjoying it!
Some people have just played so much they are jaded and nothing is good enough. It's like reading some gourmet chef's review of backyard grilled burgers. They taste great for what they are, and they don't suffer a bit from not being some french-named food you can neither recognize nor pronounce.
This is a fine game, and I am going to install it to play it again, and I thoroughly expect to enjoy this so-called "train wreck" again.

Actually a delightful little game. Cute and fun minipuzzles that pop up here and there while you are looking for objects - nice diversity and change of pace. Old school but some good inventiveness here and a pleasant interlude. I'm having a good time playing it. Thanks Alawar & GGOTD. :-)

Usually when there's a problem with a game or app crashing you can find at least potential answers using Google, but didn't see anything when I searched on Alawar game won't start or Alawar game won't run. Maybe it's a problem caused by a recent update to Flash or Windows? Maybe Alawar already has an answer if you contacted them?
Otherwise it can be a nightmare tracking down the cause when an app or game won't run at all -- most likely as the game [or app] is starting, calling the files/processes that it will need, somewhere there's an incompatibility so the game's startup routine just stops, dead in its tracks. Problem is that there's a huge number of possibilities.
The more-or-less correct way to track it down, AFAIK, would be to use Process Monitor [SysInternals], saving a log file of everything going on as the game starts on a system where it will run, & comparing that to the log captured on a system where it crashes. That's a HUGE amount of work though -- you'll get dozens [if not hundreds] of log entries just moving your mouse around in Windows.
One thing someone might try is seeing if the trial version will run -- probably not as WR usually runs those before the GOTD is live -- and if it does run that would point to something Alawar did with the version they gave away. Alawar itself says the usual stuff -- to make sure graphics drivers, Flash, Windows, Internet Explorer etc. are all up to date. Problem there is it might just be something like a setting for Flash or the graphics drivers, or something that another game or app added to Windows that runs for example every time Flash or Direct X is used.

Since it works fine on my windows7 64, I'm wondering if the crashing has something to do w/ either the unzip program or the browser used for activation. I use PeaZip (free) and Firefox, FWIW.

This game downloaded, set up, and ran fine on my Windows 8.1. I love the games where you pick things up and put them in the circles of another item and this game is perfect for that. It seems to be an older game but doesn't lag in play. The graphics were crisp, the colors vibrant and was easy to figure out. I always mute games so can't say about the music. I also rarely read the storyline bits, I'm much more into the gameplay but the storyline is skippable as are the puzzles. It is also alt/tab friendly.
If there is anything I would change it would be the HOG scenes. So far they've all been the same and that can get monotonous and makes it way too easy to find things you've seen the last 3 or 4 times you've played it.
I'd give it an 8/10 for that era of games.

Was looking forward to playing this game. But, game downloads nicely and installs, but does not open. Deleted and redownloaded. Installs but does not open. Absolutely nothing happens when clicking on the application. Oh well.

Installed fine on my Windows 7 machine. While this isn't one of Alawar's best HO games, it's good for a couple hours of play. The game did error out at one point, but I opened it again and could still finish out the game, although it didn't take me back to the error point.
Thanks again for a nice game. Great website and much appreciated.

Hi, thanks very much for this sweet Game!:) Installed fine on my laptop (W7, Intel HD Graphics) and plays fine too (no crashes) I can only echo what others are saying in Customer Reviews. After playing it for a while I can sense that it's easy to follow, with plenty to look for and mini puzzles not too complicated. Story line is gently gripping and 'child friendly' rather than chilling or scary, but challenging enough for any adult who likes searching for things, finding solutions and being amused and entertained by twists and turns in unexpected places of the game. Graphics could be better, but they are not too disappointing. Playing so many HOGs and seeing similar way they are designed - this one offers something slightly different and fresh. Recommended! Thanks once again for a lovely Giveaway:) Have a nice Sunday Evening.

First off, the game downloaded, installed and played fine on my windows XP. I have played through the first few scenes and the graphics are fine but nothing special, the game play felt quite dated but at least most things were easy and the hint refilled quickly if not (or if I was too bored to work it out). It felt like either if they improved the tale-telling or the gameplay/graphics I would have wanted to play through to the end without stopping, but neither was the case.
Having said that, thank you for a game I wanted to download and which worked on my creaking old PC.

I played this some while ago (from MyPlayCity, I think) and quite enjoyed it. OK, it's not the most engaging of HOGs and the puzzles are quite simple, but it's a good way to relax for a couple of hours. I think the review from GameZebo is a little harsh, but it's interesting that the reviewer thought it merited a "not bad" overall rating rather than "poor".
I think it would be quite a good introduction for anyone fairly new to HOGs and FROGs, but I would have appreciated a harder "difficulty level" - there's a bit too much hand-holding for me now and I automatically turn off any sparkles if I have the chance to do so. Having said that, it's several years old and was probably somewhat "state of the art" in its time!

I downloaded and installed on my Win7Pro 64bit system; have had no trouble whatsoever! I love Hidden Object games and have to disagree with a lot of the comments listed here. It might be a little on the easy side, but if you love hidden object games, I find this to be very relaxing and enjoyable. Music isn't bad as I really don't listen to hit as I am concentrating on finding the objects. Some do get a little confusing at first if you don't recognize the object you are to find. Like Phial never heard of it. But that is me. The only trouble I have is using IE to activate the game with GAOD; can't do it so I made Chrome my default browser and that works. But that is my system not anything to do with the actual game. I am enjoying playing it for the past 30 minutes or so but have to stop and get other things done prior to my granddaughter arriving to deliver her Girl Scout cookies that my neighbors ordered!! Thanks GAOD and Alawar for having this giveaway today. I have enjoyed all of these games!

The game is nice, the objects are quite easy to find and together with the story line makes it suitable for children as well.
However I finished the game in an hour or so.
When I was collecting gears to open a gate in to get to the castle the game closed itself and Windows (7 64 bit) gave an error message. When I restarted the game, it suddenly jumped quite far in the story; it brought me almost to the end of the game.
Apart from the error of suddenly closing down it is a pleasant game. Not the best, because it's very easy ;)
