Downloaded and installed no problems now that I've worked out how to turn off my updated security. It looks like a nice little game for a short break with a coffee. I will keep it just for that as I think for longer periods it would become boring. This is a keeper for me, at least until I've mastered all the levels. Thank you MPC and GOTD and Whiterabbit for your review which I always read first.

Windows10 64bit Home. Loaded and play no problem. However, when playing the game in Training Mode was okay but next stage you had to make sure you was in Training Mode. After finishing the first game in the second page, you went back to the first page. So you were constantly remembering Training Mode, second page, then play. Hospital scene on second page does will not open. Some of the items to find were left to the imagination. Like Peanut was actually peanut butter. etc etc Graphics wasn't that great so went into Compatibility mode and clicked the DPI scaling and it seemed a little better. Quite boring game actually. Meh. Next. But thanks.

I have downloaded this game because I like this kind of games, I have tried several times to play this game only to have the game stall at the point of hitting the play arrow. Game then goes to a faded screen, I have never had this happen with MyPlayCity games. Please check your game files to see if this game is working on your end. I run windows 7 pro

I received the same DLL error that many other users commented on. I am not willing to jump through any hoops to try to get this to work so I will uninstall via reboot. Thank you for the effort. BTW this is the first time any MPC game has failed to work for me so their track record is still very good.

Missing .dll, tried workaround given here with vcredist_86.exe file, still have missing .dll error. Deleting. Not worth my time.

Hi Beadmaster. :-)
The vcredist depends on the exact error you are receiving.
What's the exact error?
And what's your OS?

Cannot run this on XP SP3.
Get the error message: The procedure entry point InitializeCriticalSectionEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
However, The "InitializeCriticalSectionEx" function does not exist in the XP version of Kernel32.dll, even with SP3 installed. It was not introduced until Vista.

ian,
Often developers/coders use Microsoft software tools -- later versions of those, along with some 3rd party dev tools, by default make use of features that aren't available in XP & earlier. Most of these often older games from MPC include XP compatibility -- someone at MPC probably just assumed that this one did too, or were given bad info, & included XP in the requirements when they shouldn't have.

I also had the missing .dll file alert. downloaded the service pack from Microsoft, the file is now on my computer but the game will not start. also copied the file to the game folder, same result. I am used to having to adjust things with MPC games for them to work on my pc, but this is a new problem. disappointed. thanks anyway.

Hi Barbara. :-)
(I love your name, imagine why? :-D)
I had the same problem.
The mentioned files (msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll) are on my system in c:\windows\system32 (I suppose they're the x64 versions) and in "C:\Windows\InfusedApps\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftOfficeHub_17.8010.5926.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\VFS\ProgramFilesCommonX64\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE16\" (I suppose they're the x86 versions).
I tried to copy the first couple in the game installation directory, but it didn't work.
I tried to copy the second pair in the game installation directory, but it didn't work.
I forgot to try to copy the second pair in "c:\windows\syswow64".
In the end, I solved the problem with Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013.
I downloaded and installed only the vcredist_x86.exe.
Direct link to that file: https://download.microsoft.com/download/2/E/6/2E61CFA4-993B-4DD4-91DA-3737CD5CD6E3/vcredist_x86.exe
Hope this helps!

I forgot to write I'm using Win10 home/standard, Win10 Defender and firewall, DEP AlwaysOn (but I also tried the standard setting), custom scale 150%.

I uninstalled the "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013" (vcredist_86.exe) and then tried to copy the second pair in "c:\windows\syswow64": it didn't work.
Therefore it seems the simpliest solution to msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll missing is to install the "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013" (vcredist_86.exe).

xilolee, thanks, but that did not work. I don't even see the files needed listed in the system files under windows etc. I'm on windows 7 still and haven't run into this before. the download went fine and installed but there doesn't seem to be any difference. I appreciate the help. I found long ago that I could not have any shortcut links installed from MPC. I have to go into the folder and make my own to the game. Otherwise, I am locked out even with settings for admin. etc. with the .dll files missing, I will just skip this and not worry about it. again, thanks for going to the trouble. :)

xilolee, after I tried all of that and it did nothing for me, I found that my computer was constantly popping the error message and generally messing up. I could not even do a system restore. I finally had to do a cold shut down and later it seemed to straighten out. I also had to delete several add-ons to my browser that also started getting the error message about that missing file. the strangest part is that the file is on the computer! thanks anyway for going to the trouble.

I thought I recognized this game by the stills. I found the game a bit dark and boring, I was hoping for a bit more puzzles and at least a story line but this game has neither. I also didn't like the timer feature. I had hoped for a play that wasn't timed. If there was such a feature, I couldn't find it.
This game was just a marathon of finding hidden objects. No motivation and the game is just flat. The graphics are so-so and uninteresting. Typical images with very little effort to at least make the graphics pop.
This is just a no frills hidden object game.
If you like just scene after scene of hunting random images, this is your game. If you want exciting villains, to save a loved one trapped in some time portal or to save the world through fixing what's broken, you're going to be disappointed.

GREAT give away today folks !! This game downloaded quickly, and will no issues...I mean just a few seconds on high speed. The game is fine, although it has no "options" selection, so I used my laptop to turn down the volume of the music a bit. No false positives by Norton Antivirus. The game is a Hidden Object game, and the items are well hidden, so one really has to look for them, and do it quickly, or you have to try again. The art work is not at all bad, though the backgrounds look a little faded in the images of them online. In reality, they are well coloured, and hide things well. This is a keeper, for sure. Thanks to GAOTD for the great game, and of course, My Play City.

I installed the game in Win10.
And there was a file missing MSVCR100.DLL.
That did not bothered me, seen that for many times.
I started my PC in Win8.1 and I did get a warning from AVG.
So I sent the file GAME.exe to virustotal.com and there were 4 warnings:
https://www.virustotal.com/nl/file/3b8d00fa4b4e1c932431a0511000e89a9f5dedb2d8eda631a0af9cd25f5a9b39/analysis/1501939288/
Never there was found a virus in a game of GOTD and this time all warnings are different.
So nothing to worry.
In Win10 there has something missing. Maybe this link will help:

Ootje,
Ootje,
"I installed the game in Win10. And there was a file missing MSVCR100.DLL."
The Microsoft C/C++ runtime files are normally added by software that's installed. They usually wind up in C:\Windows\WinSxS\ -- over time you'll likely accumulate several duplicates. Very often software will also use newer versions of these runtime files if/when they're present, rather than an older version like MSVCR100 [v.10] that was current with their dev software. FWIW, Installing the runtime files adds quite a few registry entries & contributes to Windows bloat -- in a case like this, where the app/game requests a runtime file, I'll usually just copy that file to the Windows\System32\ or the app's or game's folder. It's pretty rare though -- most software either includes those files in the app or game folder, or includes the setup files for that runtime version.

Was missing two files (as noted by Jennifer); found in another game, copied and pasted and now works. Basic HOG except timed. Dark graphics, no storyline, only meaningless points given for "winning" so no incentive to keep playing. Music annoying after first few minutes. Boring (and I usually like HOGs). Worth a try but won't play again or keep.
Save | Cancel
Not what I usually do, but I delete the game already, as stated before you have to find more items as soon as you succeed, it is timed.
The objects to find are very washed out so very hard to recognize, the description didn't suit me either i.e. 'peanut', turned out to be a fallen over bag full of peanuts. 'bolster' was as far as I could see a balloon in the top of the screen.
After 10 attempts I gave up because I still was on the first scene.
Anyway, thanks GGOTD en Playrix Games, not every game can be to one's liking.
Save | Cancel
Thanks ! I did see "training", but thinking it was a typical HOG, I left it on "Normal", and was surprised by the timed game page. Lost the first time, but to me, that means the items are well hidden, and I like that. This game is a winner for me !

Time limits are opposite to what most HOG fans are looking for. HOGs are popular because they offer a relaxed game play without limits or the possibility of failure.

I have downloaded the file twice, installed three times. I get this error message every time.
engine.exe - System Error
"The program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I assumed that they had forgotten a file but I see that others have managed to start playing the game so I went looking and find that I have several copies of that file on my computer. I copied one of them to the game folder. Now it's bellyaching about needing MSVCP110.dll.
Just how many files am I going to have to go looking for before this game will do its job? And why didn't the game come with the files it needed?

"The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP120.dll was not found". Ah well. Maybe I'll have better luck with tomorrow's giveaway.

Hi Jerry. :-)

Never got beyond the first page. Very basic hidden object game against the clock. You start needing 3 then more ... then more ... until you fail. I didn't get to succeed and decided I was wasting my time.
Save | Cancel
Well, Hidden Object Games are one of my favorite genres but this one is definitely NOT one of my favorites. For starters, I like a storyline with my HOGs, I don't think this one has one. The only options you have in this game are to be able to mute the sound & the hint button does recharge quickly. All HO scenes are timed - immediate bad mark from me! The graphics are really nice, though. You're timed & graded. *shakes head* Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I don't think people who like HOGs generally enjoy being timed & graded. And there's a pause button you can use but it doesn't just pause the game, it gives you a "You Lose!" message with a bad grade. There are TONS of location....I scrolled through and it looks like there are 11 screens with 6 locations on each page. I'm not sure what the buttons are for below the locations mean.
And to be completely honest, I didn't play very long at all....I was too disgusted with it to give it a "girl scout" try! I think I tried like 5 HO scenes (on the same location) before I just closed the game. *shakes head*
Save | Cancel
DelennDax7 (Dax), Okay, I tried it again....if you click on Training, you get an HO scene without being timed but it's not like other games where you are choosing the level you want to play....i.e. Easy, Normal, Expert....you'll play the scene with several things to find and then when you click to continue on to the next scene, you're automatically put to "Normal"....each is "graded" separately.
I still don't like the game. :-(

Just a nit-picking question - the website actually says:
'This game is brought to you by our sponsors.
It is always free. NO TIME LIMITS!
Play absolutely FREE'
So where does the $9.99 come from?

Ah, that explains it. I was a bit confused by the apparent anomaly, but that makes sense. Many Thanks.
