You have to protect your lands from three cruel kings.

AirXonix is a modern 3-dimensional remake of the famous Xonix game. In the older Xonix you controlled a device, which moved over a field with several monster-balls wandering inside. The objective was to cut the balls away from as much spare field as possible. The rules of AirXonix are almost the same, except the device you control is flying in the air and everything is in full 3D!

The stunning special effects are strengthened by 3D sound! New types of monsters and a slew of different bonuses all displayed in full 3D bring the old game to an entirely new level. The complete AirXonix distribution includes 5 types of games with more then 80 levels. The rules are simple and the game will give unforgettable pleasure to people of any age!

Game Rules

You operate a flying device which moves above the surface of the game field. Your task is to fill in as much of the game field as you can. To fill in the field, you fly above an area with no balls in it, being sure not to let the balls hit the line you are making until you have reached the other side of the empty space. Avoid contact with the mines, which move on filled areas. Each level has a time limit. Some bonuses you collect will give you extra lives, points, and time. Others will slow down all balls and enemies.

Very entertaining game for young and old. Hard to believe a game of this quality only sells for $14.

This feels like a next generation version of the old game Qix, which I used to play all the time until I upgraded my PC to XP and then it wouldn't play anymore.

Love this! Thanks for the download!

I need to backtrack....#45....that was what happened each time I opened it with the automatic launch after download. However, once I closed out everything and opened from the icon on my desktop (VISTA), it did just fine....no more showing that I need to register. Sorry for the earlier notice. Works with no problem on my Vista.

I have VISTA, and do all as administrator. I have downloaded the game three times (and uninstalled the first two) following ALL directions. I went through the activation process and my computer showed the typical "activated" notation. However, when I open the game it says it is unregistered. It says I need to pay $14 to register the game. I had no trouble with the download to an XP computer....but wanted to play on this one!

Comment #30 Franp; I had no problems installing AirXonix on my Vista machine. I think comment #40 by gpc111 maybe right, as I was logged on as Admin when I installed it. The game runs smoothly

Hi Game Seeker...Not seen you commenting for quite some time. Nice to see you are still around :) I miss your concise and informative comments that were always very readable. Will you be returning, or are you too busy these days? :)

Although I'm not a great fan of the Jezzball genre, I've found myself playing this game several times throughout the day; which can only mean one thing.... that it's simple and addictive fun. The only gripe I would comment on, which has already been mentioned above is the inability to save your progress. I'm hoping that it's like other games in that maybe it saves your progress after attaining certain levels? However if it's not I do hope the developer will update the game further.

Personally, I wouldn't pay the asking price though, because I think most arcade games are over-priced. As I've said previously, I can purchase excellent games from my local stores for far less, many of which were originally $50 games. Maybe when an arcade game has first been released the cost can be justified, but as with any old game, the price should drop with time. I'm sure the arcade buisness would do itself a great favour if it re-priced 'most' of it's stock along this principle. (Just my opinion)

I give this game 7 out of 10 for playability and simplicity. :D

P.S. Matt B comment #17 I'm playing the game at a resolution of 1162 x 864 which looks 'reasonably' widescreen on my widescreen monitor??? :) As mentioned above (comment #10 you can adjust the screen res' by clicking on the first options menu. You'll find the following screen res' options:

512 x 384
640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1152 x 864
1280 x 960
1600 x 1200

AOnce upon a time, way back when, I had a little Amiga 600. I used to have oh so much joy with my stick playing an ever so awesome game called Helix. Then my Amiga died and so did the whole Amiga industry. Ever since I was forced to use a Plastic Cube (PC), my search for a Helix lookalike has been a state of mind... now finally I can rest. I can sleep... BUST MUST PLAY AIRXONIX... Must Play... must play... m.st..pl.y...

This a graphically intensive version of JezzBall, an old PC game that used to come with Windows. I prefer the original simply because the enhanced graphics don't really ad enough to the game in my opinion.

# 30 I think for people using vista you need to be logged on as an admisitrator for it to install properly. I'm not sure, I still use XP but I read that about a lot of other games here.

As most commenters have stated this is a fun game. I got it the first time it was offered and I like it. I would definitely recommend that anyone who doesn't have it to download and have fun.

Since GGAOTD is doing repeats can I make a request? I would love to have Aquaball. This game was made available before I was aware of this site. I'm sure there are plenty of other people who would like this as well. Also have any of the Ricochet series been offered here that I may have missed? If so I would like to see them repeated.

Thank you GGAOTD for your efforts and thank you Axysoft for your contribution. Both efforts are greatly appreciated by all.

I got this the first time it was offered. Graphics are nice for this simple-concept game, sounds are those weirdly spaced-out kind.

Based on a very simple concept, if you ever played Qix then you already know how to play. If not, then briefly: The object is to build walls that enclose moving balls into smaller and smaller spaces until the percentage required is finished for the current level. All the while you must avoid traveling mines, pick up bonuses, not allow the balls to touch your wall-building piece and also watch that the time limit doesn't run out.

Keyboard only but don't be put off by that alone. It only uses the four directional arrow keys and is quite playable even without the mouse Who SHOULD be put off by this game is anyone (or their children) who get aggravated easily or have low tolerance for frustration.

There's a lot going on at once in this game and level difficulty increases quickly. Simple as it is, it's really a fun and oddly addictive game! But definitely NOT for the short-tempered or anyone who isn't able to shrug and realize a game is JUST a game. ;)

I don't think it would take a lot of time for anyone who had to write a review about today's game offering from GAOTD. If I had to, I could do it in under a minute, and have time to spare. One word sums it all up, "Excellent".

And for #14: I'm playing on a laptop, no joystick, without a mouse, using the default keys (up/down/left/right arrows) and have no problems with game control. I checked how it plays with a joystick and found no difference. That's the mark of well thoughtout code that in my opinion serves as an example for any game designers, of how not to limit game play because it play's better with a mouse or joystick verses the keyboard.

It's 3D Qix! A modern take on an old favorite. My main quibble is that I said to use the joystick, yet my joystick didn't work at all. Oh well. Arrow keys work fine too. Also, I see no particular reason why this needs to be in 3D, since you really don't use the Z axis. Still, nice look to it. Thumbs-up!

This is an absolutely awesome game! I have it on my desktop from the first offering and have spent much time playing. The graphics are really nice and the game is quite challenging.
Although I don't download alot from here, I check it every day. Everything I have downloaded from here has registered and worked just fine. Some I have even gone back to the vendor and purchased! (which I'm sure is part of your goal) This is a terrific website.
Thanks GAOTD for your hard work. Despite the garbage you all take on here, you do a fabulous job and I hope you are able to fish out the appropriate feedback you are looking for! Keep up the good work.

It's fun! Family friendly and quite well done with attractive graphics, good sound and lots of playing field goodies to take advantage of. I've never played a game like this before but this was really a no brainer to learn.I'd be willing to bet some of the later levels are pretty hard. For now I'm just enjoying learning how to play well. Worth the D/L, thanks!

Haven't played this type of game before, and is very enjoyable. Plays fine on my XP. Very addictive. Wish it would save your progress on whichever level you achieve before 'crashing', so you don't have to start at level one again... other than that, it's geat. Thanks very much, GGOTD. Another worthy repeat from March 20th, which received excellent an response from us, the consumer :) with 90% of the 195 people responding giving this game a thumbs up. You can check out the previous 53 comments by following the link below:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/airxonix/#comments

Although I’ve précised the useful comments here:

Quick Pro’s:
1) Should work with most game controllers such as joysticks and game pads
2) Very short learning curve. :)

Quick cons:
1) Needs a 3D graphics card
2)No mouse control

Although this is a very basic jezzball style game (similar to the early game called qix), if you have no jezzball style games it is well worth having. This is an update from the game given away in March 07 from v1.42 to 1.45. It installs easily, having a separate 'activate' and 'set up' file, and works on both my XP and Vista systems. There were no hiccup’s while installing and playing it on the Vista system, so those who have updated to Vista will be pleased to have another game to play with.

The screen display can be adjusted from the first start up window by clicking on options button. You can also check the box for using a game controller here. The default keys are the arrow keys with custom keys A, Z, X and C. These can be changed for keys of your own choice by going into the second options menu which becomes available upon clicking 'Start Game' from the first window.

For information on how to play the game and about the game objects (power ups) click on the information button. If you are not sure about whether you have a suitable graphics card, follow these instructions.........although the direct 7 requirement quoted would indicate that nothing more than a 32 Mb card should be required, which most recent motherboards should support. (if you’re not sure whether you have a graphics card look at the back of your computer. If there are two blue female sockets with three rows of 5 holes then you probably do have a graphics card. You can also see what sort of 3D emulation you have by going to the run command and typing in dxdiag. Click on the display tab and check out the device info. Also you can test your machine by clicking on the Test Direct 3D button. If you’re computer supports the direct 7 requirements for this game you should see at least the first two spinning cubes with a large green X and the logo Microsoft Direct X. This will mean your computer should support the 3D graphical requirements of this game. Finally, you could just download the game and see if it works on your computer :)
.........

Thank you Axysoft and the game giveaway team for providing this game free of charge. Thanks also for updating the game so that it’s compatible with Vista. :).

Repeat of 20th March.

It's a remake of an 80's game named QIX.

The makers have no idea what "full 3D" actually means. It isn't because you slant the playing field and therefor create an illusion of looking down that it therefor is 3D.

3D means that it actual has an X,Y and Z axis. 3D means that you would be able to move not just around the field but also going up and down. In other words not by "flying" around a field but by going through an object. If it would actually do that it would have been an original extension to the original concept. It would also be a far more serious programming effort.

As for the "The stunning special effects are strengthened by 3D sound!" there is only real responds possible to that, namely : ROFL

There has been far worse games here, most of doublegames offerings spring to mind, but unless your looking for a little mindless time waster or want to go down memory lane, I wouldn't bother. I certainly wouldn't be willing to spend 14 USD on it. Only the other day I came across a Qix clone for the iPaq and even that one was freeware.
