Game Giveaway of the day — AirXonix

AirXonix is a modern 3-dimensional remake of the famous Xonix game. In the older Xonix you controlled a device, which moved over a field with several monster-balls wandering inside. The objective was to cut the balls away from as much spare field as possible. The rules of AirXonix are almost the same, except the device you control is flying in the air and everything is in full 3D! New types of monsters and a slew of different bonuses bring the old game to an entirely new level.

The stunning special effects are strengthened by 3D sound! New types of monsters and a slew of different bonuses all displayed in full 3D bring the old game to an entirely new level. The complete AirXonix distribution includes 5 types of games with more then 80 levels. The rules are simple and the game will give unforgettable pleasure to people of any age!

Game Rules

You operate a flying device which moves above the surface of the game field. Your task is to fill in as much of the game field as you can. To fill in the field, you fly above an area with no balls in it, being sure not to let the balls hit the line you are making until you have reached the other side of the empty space. Avoid contact with the mines, which move on filled areas. Each level has a time limit. Some bonuses you collect will give you extra lives, points, and time. Others will slow down all balls and enemies.

fun game. it is sort of like Jezzonix and a worse version of Cosmic Wars. Graphics are pretty good. its also great for beginners because it's easy.

Very cool twist on the classic “QIX”.
Cool graphics, and some good features make it maybe better than Quix, even. It’s a keeper for me!

I was so thrilled when I found this website and the free games - seems that games are becoming more and more expensive these days!

However, I'm less than emamoured with the games being offered lately, since they're operated by arrow controls only. I don't have wonderful hand/wrist mobility and the lowly mouse was a Godsend for me when they first came in.

Can we please please have more mouse operated games, or at least those that give you an option of using a mouse - or the arrows?

I really do love your website and what you do for the internet public - I wish you luck always! ;)

Thanks for the neat little game, tho' I'm really clumbsy when it comes to using arrow keys. For some reason I am unable to find the registration number. Never had a problem before. PS: my 1998 computer has 466mhz and an old version of DirectX and this game works perfectly! Very nice graphics. Thumbs up! Anyone? How did I miss the reg. no.? Thanks.

Game was interesting. Reminded me of the old 80'a game called Quix where you had to complete the line before the icon touched it.

Re: #6 Jane: Check Internet Explorer web browser, even if you are NOT using that browser it cannot be set to "work offline" or activation won't work. Also check the security settings in Vista, make sure it didn't automatically switch on anything that is blocking activation. Hopefully you can get it activated that way, it must be something Vista changed since you had no problems activating on XP.

Once you get it activated if the game itself won't work try right clicking on its icon and go to Properties->Compatibility->Compatibility Mode and set it to run as if it were running in XP. (You don't need XP installed to do that, the option is there for backward compatibility.) That should also work for previous games you downloaded from here that won't run on Vista.

Re: #12 BuBBy: Unfortunately Jane didn't find "plenty of help" on the forums, nothing but people telling her she should not have installed Vista. :( Perhaps not, but anyone else who buys a new computer doesn't get a choice as it's difficult at best anymore to find retailers selling computers with XP installed. Microsoft is heavily pushing Vista even though it doesn't seem ready for prime time.

Thanks again, GAOTD! Luv you guys so much, and look forward to checking each day. I also had this game from another site awhile back, and "lost" it due to reformatting and can't download it again, even tho I paid for it. I'm hoping we can save your games to a CD for safekeeping, because of all the computer changes lately. Has anyone tried this yet?

I had this game a year or so ago, I played it quite often, then got tired of it and deleted it.
Now its back and I'll be killing a few more hours playing it.
Its fun and easy to play.

#28...some of us HAVE kids...so sorry. Many of the games here, I get for the youngster, and if someone who has already downloaded it mentions that kids like it, or it is too violent, etc, I say thank you for the input. If comments about the "kid appeal" of a game bother you, then just read on, my friend, there are plenty of other comments. Believe me, kids these days don't think much of games with "stuffed bears and ponies". one of my six year old's favorite games is heavy weapon, and he also plays the games in the geneforge series, among others. I say thanks for the freebies!

Multiplayer internet and LAN games are always a good thing, bringing the human element into games adds a whole new degree of fun.

Jeez. Next time someone mentions how the kids will love it or how it's too violent for the kids I'm gonna snap. It sounds like indie games (and by that all the games around here) are strictly for little kids and that's REALLY far from the truth. If it features stuffed bears and ponies, fine, but otherwise PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT KIDS!

And back on topic: is this game really 3d? cause it looks like a 2d game with 3d graphics. Anyways, it also looks way too simple so I'll skip it.

Thank you again for a great bit of fun!! This works well on my Windows2000 (Pentium 3) and on my Windows XP (with the Pentium 4) - my laptop (XP with a Celeron processor)....not so much...too slow and awkward. I have had that problem with a few of the freebies which is actually a good thing. When I go to buy software I have to take my laptop along to make sure it's going to be able to handle it. I only bought it for wordprocessing so ANY diversionary games are a real bonus!

Anyway - thank you again for the fun - it's a nice little something to look forward to each day whether I actually download something or not. I appreciate it.

Great game, reminds me of the old "QUIX", but this one has alot more depth. It installed, and played perfectly. Its also nice to see a game that works in some "higher" screen resolutions....namely above 640x480 or 800x600.

Fast & furious - an excellent game. Works very well on my PC, good speed, sounds etc. Suits all ages including the retired old thing that I am. Good options - easy game or manic ...! Well done GOTD. I rate this 9 out of 10. Why not 10? There is always room for some improvement e.g. save the game - no option to do so [not that I could see anyway]. Future prog? A spell checking game for the whingers - if they must whinge - at least do so without spelling mistakes! Now bracing myself for criticism....

Oh - and IT WORKS WITH A GAME CONTROLLER! My playstation-style Logitech "Dual Action" USB to be exact, but probably works with other similar USB game controllers. You'll have to set it up the first time you play - just go to "control" on the menu, then press your d-pad or joystick in the highlighted direction and it will let you do each one in turn, then you are ready to play.

#6... My workaround is: Wait a year before installing Vista, and perhaps it will be compatible with the rest of the world ;-)
Not being a smart-alec, I just have learned that Gates and company tend to release to the public, software that is at best 80% engineered, and they let the complaint/bug department finish it with us as live guinea pigs.

I know this wasn't helpful, just wanted to say how I felt about Vista etc.

It's nice to have the earlier version to cartoon Xonix, and also Billy Bob as I lost these previous giveaways to formats a short while ago. My children were quite disappointed at losing those.

Thank you for giving them a second chance, although I personally thought both the aforesaid mentioned games were graphically more pleasing than this game, all the basics are still there which is what really matters. If you're a newcomer to this site, Air Xonix is an updated version of the original Jezzball. Enjoy :)
