I like the game but I found that once I started to play it I couldn't stop till I beat all the levels. It got a little frustrating a times but well worth the time I spent on it

Thanks for those who pointed out that there is a continue/ save. I over looked it when I game over and likely clicked on the start over. Perhaps Realore Studios should add a verify popup as I still did it again.

In my elderly opinion this is an excellent game. The graphics, sounds, background music and visual effects are quite pleasant. Well worth the asking price. I will also rate this as family friendly. We also have the Aqua Bubbles created by these folks and play it often.

Um, kjb0007, why does it bother you so much that Swan is requesting games? And sorry, but you're incorrect in saying that game titles such as Mystery Case Files will never be given away for free. If you continue to visit this site I'm sure one day you'll see a Mystery Case Files game title on here. I have seen many games on GGAOTD that are offered on the biggest online purchase game sites such as Big Fish Games, and Reflexive Entertainment - in fact, Age Of Japan itself is offered on Big Fish Games right now...

Your statement that GGAOTD only offers games that don't sell well is only half true. A lot of the titles that we're offered here are low sellers, but there are plenty of them that are stellar titles that a particularly professional game developer decided to lend to GGAOTD

I recommend 10 Talismans (much better match-three clone) instead of this one.

I love this game. It doesn't have all the terribly loud explosions that disturb my soul. The music is soothing and relaxing and the graphics are lovely. I uninstalled several match three ganes that I paid for because this one is so much nicer and my pets agree.

I like this game, except it seems to get stuck in a loop when I try to open the menu from within a game - the sound just keeps repeating, and the whole PC freezes. Otherwise, a very fun game with pleasant music and graphics.

I love this site. Even if I don't love every offer it's great to have the chance to see the new stuff out there and try it if I want. Thanks GOTD for providing this great resource for those of us with smaller budgets. This way I only buy the ones that my kids and I both love so that we can enjoy them forever.

I do have one problem that I don't know who to ask this of. Ever since GOTD changed the download page I can't download anything from the main file. I have to use the mirror file in order to get it. When I try to new download page I get this message (today anyway)

File '793828' is not found on any working WikiFortio server. Please try again later.

Last week I was getting a different message but still couldn't download. Any suggestions or is it just my computer? Thanks for any help from anyone.

And this game looks great.....I know my kids will love it too.

I am a bit divergent from most everyone here. I found the game to be fair, but not memorable or engaging. It's a pretty standard match-3 affair with some aspects of Jewel Quest thrown in. Nothing bad there, mind. The presentation was so-so. I found the graphics to be muddy/murky. Not much in the way of whiz-bang effects to reward you for good plays. Got through about 6 levels and just didn't feel like going further.

It's not a bad game. It's not a game that I would play again. If I were to spend $20, I would surely have buyer's remorse.

Very attractive implementation of the 3-in-a-row type game. Graphics are
colourful and crisp, controls are instinctive and responsive. The oriental style music, and varied sound effects make the game more entertaining, and as the levels progress, the locked squares make it more challenging--however I still found it a rather soothing game to play.
This is one, like Atlantis Quest, that I will be returning to.
Thanks for an excellent game!

Since my son introduced me to this site I have become addicted to it. Every day I find a new and enjoyable game. This one is, as others have said, lovely to look at and delightful to listen to. It will now be on my favorite's list with the Ancient Castle Screensaver which I find better than a psychoanalyst for soothing nerves.
You make my day, every day. Thank you

I downloaded it; it installed perfectly.
Very addicting game, nice graphics.
Not very original, but fun nevertheless.

It was one of the games I actually downloaded, and now I'm hooked.
There was a similar game in Neopets, but it wasn't as nice as this one. There was basically only one level, whereas this one had many.

It's funny, because someone mentioned that they were stuck on level 15;I'm currently stuck on 15 too.

In any case, great game; thanks GGOTD and Realore Studios!!

Possibly my favorite of all the games given away thus far -- but I bought Age of Japan two months ago, so have had lots of time to play it! :D Hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I have. Great giveaway, GGAOTD! It has beautiful backgrounds, nice in-game graphics, smooth gameplay and good bonuses/powerups that add a lot to this three-in-a-row type of game.

#11 -- WK, in puzzle mode the game auto saves when you exit, so that when you go back to play it again, you simply resume where you left off. You click "start", and then it gives you the option to "Continue", or to click "New Game".

*sigh*

Oh boy, those falling leaves again... Seen it before in other game offerings here. And sure enough, again:

I do not like the quality of the graphics. On high resolutions and a 21" monitor the graphics simply do not cut it (the game presents itself in 640x480 resolution, and in fullscreen mode that shows in poor graphic quality and in windowed mode it's a freakin' postage stamp; useless).

I'm sure the gameplay is fine, but I just can't stand games that have 1990's DOS-quality written all over them and that are not distinctive enough in their game-concept. If this is supposed to sell for $19.95,
than people that buy it for that price pay $19.00 too much. Seriously.

Age Of Japan is an absolutely stunningly beautiful game. It downloaded and installed perfectly and from the very first "Loading" screen you can see how much attention to detail has gone into it - from "Welcome!" written in both English and Japanese to the way the doors open to let you metaphorically enter into the land of the game when loading is complete, this is just the first screen and a sure insight into how much work has gone into the program's creation.

Sure enough the entire game is an absolute joy. Whilst based on "line up 3 symbols" type of games it is extra challenging as you cannot maneuver the symbols around unless already one block away horizontally or vertically from a 3 or more line up of which they are part. Forward thinking is therefore necessary to try and work out how the game will unfold. 2 modes, one timed, the other with limited moves are available, I prefer the latter but each is like playing a new game as the challenge is different. Special tool symbols are available for helping out trickier levels - I particularly like the broom for its swift movement and sweeping noise!! Unfortunately the game does not allow you to save it which is a real shame as game play can be long, I played this before work and got a bit engrossed but had to put it off mid-game else I would have been late; a saving option would have been great and made the sensational game 100% perfect.

The real beauty of the game though is the art, it truly is spectacular. Games are played against a background of Japanese style scenery and, gorgeously, pink petals float down all around as you play. The movements of the petals are swift and realistic and are a joy to watch. Similarly, even the way the board fills up with the Japanese themed symbols is mesmerising and the symbols themselves sparkle randomly throughout the game, such detail makes Age Of Japan absolutely exquisite and whilst perhaps not as fast moving or exciting for most children, this is a supreme puzzle game that will make a fabulous addition to computers' games folders.

Good morning everyone! ;)

My sincere apologies if this appears twice - it was so difficult to get it through to GotD because of time-outs, that I wasn't sure it was actually sent the first time.)

Another great match 3 game to enjoy! I'm still thoroughly enjoying Egyptoid from this software house also.

As always (for me at least,) the game downloaded/activated and installed well without issue. The game has a Japanese theme - graphics, music, and even the font looks representational of an Asian theme.

The first background looks as though it might be a Japanese Garden, filled with cherry blossom trees, rocks and a Japanese building in the far background.

The graphics are just lovely to see, soft, pastel colors which soothe the senses along with soft Japanese music - very conducive to thinking and planning ahead.

Important note to the graphic artist: While other graphics are just lovely - (in windowed mode,) the 'elements' contained within the tiles have jagged edges, making them look as if they'd been enlarged too much. This needs to be addressed with them all being anti-aliased - OR better still being redone, so that they appear nicely in windowed mode.

The opening screen, gives you choices of Start; Arcade or Puzzle; Difficulty; Options; Scores; Help and Exit. Choosing first, as I always do, you find choices for window/max screen; 2 choices of 'elements,' which are simply the pieces you find on the playing field and separate sliders for sound and music volume.

Game Play: Playing Arcade first, I found the play pretty easy - but it does get harder in higher levels with the use of 'locked pieces,' silver and gold tiles.

Getting a match using a gold tile, transfers it into a silver tile - then you have to do the same thing by getting a match using the silver tile, in order to clear it completely. The reason I've emphasized the word 'using' each time, is because the instructions say 'above' the tiles, which (to me) sounded as though I had to make a match with the three tiles above a gold or silver tile.

Games DO get saved! I tested this several times by exiting out of the game and there's no problem with saved games. Other than this, it's normal game play, collecting bonuses along the way, as with any other 'match 3' game.

A hearty thank you to Realore Studios for returning to us today, with another great game! I hope we see you again, with further gaming software to test and review for you. I bought the original 'Turtle Odyssey' and I enjoy it so much, that I think it would be great to review 'Turtle Odyssey 2' to see if I also want to buy that!

There are always requests here for the search type games also, such as:

Mysteryville;

Big City Adventure: San Francisco;

Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy;

Private Eye: Greatest Unsolved Mysteries;

Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile;

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst;
Mystery Case Files: Huntsville;
Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects:

Paparazzi;

A BIG thank you also to GotD for securing such a great software house for us - with quality games for us to test and review! Well done GotD! ;)

Happy gaming everyone!
~ Swan

I think this game is very cute, I have been hoping it would have been given away ever since I saw the other Realore games. It's not bad, the graphics are fantastic and the music is soothing, but it doesn't offer that much of a challenge and the levels are a bit repetitive. It's good for a 15 minutes break.
