The Game
Once you've created your profile the game opens immediately with an easy jigsaw puzzle. Completing puzzles gives you extra hints as does collecting several crystals hidden among the hidden object scenes. After a brief story board you are then given your first hidden object scene which is a find the pairs scene and which is quite easy, then a matching set of three. The game includes 91 levels with ten different game mechanics, five of which I've already described (jigsaw, matching pairs, triples, disassembling pairs and strip jigsaw). Unfortunately that's as far as I could proceed as the instructions to drag objects from the central pile in the disassembly puzzle wouldn't work. I tried everything I could think of to drag the objects apart, even swapping my mouse to no avail. We had a similar hidden object game a few years ago (the name escapes me) where a lot of the hidden object levels were separating pairs and triplets from a jumble of objects.
For those of you who like to keep your games in a decent library; you can get this game via Steam for £3.99 HERE when not on sale (the Steam summer sale starts on the 23rd June and I believe there's a festival themed sale starting tomorrow afternoon (Mon 13th). Today's version of A Plot story is a free standing version and not the Steam version.

Whiterabbit-uk,

You'll find (fairly) regularly updated details of all the reasonable game deals and freebies that I can find HERE. The following are the most recent changes that I've updated in the thread over in the game forums.

The latest free Epic game is Man Eater, which you'll find HERE - You start as a small shark pup tasked with surviving the harsh world around you, while eating your way up the ecosystem. To do this you explore a large and varied open world encountering diverse enemies - both human and wildlife. This game will cease to be free Thursday 4pm UK/11am Eastern Thursday 16th June when we will be getting Supraland, a first-person Metroidvania Puzzle game. The main sources of inspiration are Zelda, Metroid and Portal.

There's a new Capcom Summer 22 bundle available from the Humble site that for a minimum of £15.20 you'll get MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD, Devil May Cry 5, Devil May Cry HD Collection, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, DmC: Devil May Cry, Ultra Street Fighter® IV, Street Fighter V, STRIDER™, Bionic Commando plus two 50% off coupons for Monster Hunter Rise and to upgrade Street Fighter V to the - Champion Edition

Also available from the Humble site is the latest choice bundle that went live on Tuesday 6th June and for under £9 you'll get an Origin key for Star Wars: Squadrons (an excellent space shooter, but not as good as X-4: Foundations), and Steam keys for Phoenix Point: Year One Edition, Call of the Sea, GameDec, Pumpkin Jack, Siege Survival: Gloria Victis, I am Fish, and Superhot: Mind Control Delete. If you subscribe to the Humble Choice bundle you can suspend it from moth to moth if you don't fancy any or most of the games on offer, however, they always add a wide range of choice, so that's unlikely to happen.

Check out GOG over the next several days. They are giving away games every few days. Yesterday they gave away Vanetica. It may be region locked as I wasn't able to claim it. The freebie ends at 1pm UK/8am Eastern today, but there will be another GOG freebie given away tomorrow afternoon. (thanks to Jason for mentioning this Friday).

If you have Amazon Prime you'll also have access to free games every month via Amazon Gaming. The June freebies include the following full games:

Far Cry 4 (uPlay code)
Escape from Monkey Island
WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship
Astrologaster
Across the Grooves

delenn13,

Thanks for the heads up Delenn; already got the main game and some of the DLC, but it has added two more DLC's (Fjordur and Lost Islands). :)

Giving away such a game probably means the servers are struggling to support themselves, so giving away the game and some of the DLC may increase server use.

Wow! 295GB install size and that's without the new DLC; will have to clear out one of my drives, lol

Looks like another clutter game with the slider puzzle, jigsaw and maybe one or two new mini-games. Clutter games match same, similar, big/little, black and white to its colored items to clean up the clutter, you get gems, coins and letter tiles to collect to make a phrase or to earn some sort of item to continue. It's not a true hidden object game per se; no list of items to find is a HOG, this is different in that you're matching 2 or 3 items to clear the board. It's fine if you like clutter games.

I have disabled my antivirus and still can not install. Keep getting an error message.

xcartster2011,

Hi xcartster2011,

Can you tell me what error message you are getting. Often the error message gives you a clue as to what the issue is. Also, check the event logs via the event viewer to see what messages are there. The event log records everything that you do on your computer so try and install the game again while the event viewer is open then check the latest entries. Let me know what it says. Hopefully with both those we can figure out what the issue is.

Regards Whiterabbit-uk

p.s. there are a few ways to access the event viewer; the easiest is to type 'event viewer' in the search field.

Whiterabbit-uk, I don't remember exactly what the error message was, but I tried several times and kept getting the same error message and the files would be deleted on the next reboot. Even though I had clicked off every box on my antivirus, there was still something apparently operating that refused to allow the software to be installed, and quarantined it and then deleted it.

xcartster2011,

Hi xcartster.

I had a similar problem some years ago, where all the giveaways would be deleted. Turns out I'd installed a security software that I'd got from the giveawayoftheday, which I decided wasn't exactly what I wanted. Instead of deleting it, I suspended it. Shortly afterwards I had to replace my motherboard (I used a like for like so that I didn't have to reinstall windows). This turned the security back on. I was unable to download anything for several weeks.

The odd thing was that I couldn't see the program running via processes etc. In the end I contacted Microsoft as I thought it may have been something to do with changing the motherboard that had affected Windows. Anyway, I allowed Microsoft to connect to my computer. The tech guy found the issue in about 30 seconds. Turns out the security that I thought was suspended had been turned back on when I changed the motherboard, and I'd totally forgotten about the security that I'd installed several moths earlier. It was virtually invisible except for the mouse's right click context menu. which I'd not thought to check. I deleted the program as I wasn't using it and things then got back to normal.

So, it may be that you have a program running in the background that is doing something similar to what happened to me.

Nice time consuming game. This seems to require a certain resolution to display correctly, what is it? Is there any way to direct the game to run on a certain monitor on multiple monitor systems?

Reply   |   Comment by Jerry  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Jerry,

Hi Jerry,
Yes there is. right click on the desktop and select 'Display Settings' from the drop down menu. This opens the Display settings window where you can adjust various things to do with your monitors. If you have a multi monitor display, it will show you the number of displays you have directly below where it says Rearrange your displays. Scroll down past the colour section the Windows HD Colour, Scale and Layout until you get to the Multiple Displays section. Here you can select which monitor to display your game by showing only on one of the monitors, or duplicate the display
or extend the displays so that they extend over your 2 or 3 monitor set up (not sure about more monitors, though depending on your mother board and number of graphic cards you can have even more monitors
set up from one computer. I've seen up to six displays on one computer.

Alternatively you can go to the first section i.e. Rearrange your displays and literally drag the monitors into the order you wish them to be in e.g. if you have three monitors you can have them in various configurations such as 1, 2 3 or 2,1,3 or 3,1,2 or 3,2,1 or 1,3,2 or 2,3,1

Hope this helps?

Jerry, My Lenovo laptop is 1366x768 and it seems to run fine. I seemed to have discovered a bug on my previous laptop where if I had my laptop on 125% scaling or larger with a resolution of 1920x1080, many games did not want to run. I am not sure if its a driver bug or Microsoft bug but setting the scaling to 100% solved the issue of the games launching and appearing properly. Something to think about.

This is one of my all time favorites. It is the only version of this series without bugs. I have replayed this many times.
Two thumbs up.

This is my least favorite style game. I am a fan of hidden object games, but this is the "here's a pile of stuff, match 2 or 3 of a kind" games and that gets boring very rapidly. There are other game types apparently but after my 3rd or 4th matching game, I just closed it. It's such a waste of time with little progress in the story. If you like being timed and collecting "points" maybe you'll like it. As for me, I'm out.

Rufus V. Smith, same here, I've played so many of these and they're all the same. Same items, same sliders, same jigsaws, different characters usually involving a hero, a bad guy/gal, a coveted crown or position and a witch.

Rufus V. Smith, It seems this game has overdone itself with "too much to do" in game. The traditional HOG games are more relaxing and forgiving for those who may want something that does not intimidate them.

I call these Catch the Witch games. There are several of them, and I like them all, but they are glitchy. I wish the author would fix them. I downloaded this because I'd like to have it, but I think I'll wait to see what others have to say about it before I install. Thanks White Rabbit.

It's a clutter game along the lines of Catch The Witch or the Hiddenverse games by Shaman games.

"A Plot Story" is actually the collection of mini games from a hidden object game: "Fall of the New Age" which was given away somewhere in May 2020.
The story being told is somewhat the same as in the "Fall of the New Age", but as I wrote, contains only the mini games.
For someone into this kind os stuff, it's a good game. I myself prefer the HOG.

Merlin, looking at whiterabbit's screen shots of A Plot Story (above), I was just thinking that the graphics really reminded me of FOTNA, and then I read your comment!
As I'm in the middle of playing FOTNA just now, I think I'll pass on this one. If I do want to play a 'clutter' game, I'll stick to Clutter 6: Leigh's Story, which I enjoy playing from time to time.
Thanks for the heads-up!

Today's giveaway is not just a hidden object game but an interesting take on one where you have to put puzzles together, and find hidden objects by clicking on 2 of them in the cluttered scene in order to remove them from the screen.

I've never experienced this genre of Hidden Object before maybe others have but if people may think they are tired of the old HO format they may find this satisfying.

Still cut scenes are badly in need of voice overs and perhaps video cut scenes. The beginning of the game had a decent chance to shine but the still scenes and so forth just makes you click until you advance to the next part of the game.

At least this game has beautiful wide screen support for those who have 16x9 capable displays. Give it a try and see what you think, it will challenge your brain more than other games of this genres with the puzzles and you'll get a good amount of gameplay from the puzzles.
